Rex and Adriana: Love in the Afternoon

— By Gabrielle Winkel

It's been a long time coming, but ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Rex and Adriana have finally consummated their relationship. Now it's sex, sex and more sex. John-Paul Lavoisier (Rex) once thought it would never happen. "Sex? No," the actor quipped a few months ago. "It's such a letdown. It's such a drag. Starr walks in on her mom having sex with Spencer, and nice guy Rex can't have sex?” Now one wonders how Adriana compares to Jen in the girlfriend department.

Soap Opera Weekly: How would you describe Rex and Jen?
John-Paul Lavoisier: Jen and Rex were two of a kind. They were Bonnie and Clyde in a way. They committed crimes together. They drank together. They had fun together. They partied together. Maybe sometimes she took it further by stripping and sleeping with other men, but that's beside the point.

Weekly: And then there's Adriana, the good girl.
Lavoisier: Adriana is the part of him that he's never had, and he's the part of her that she's never had. She was raised by nuns under the roof of her protective mother and the Catholic Church. He grew up in Michigan raised by Roxy. I think it's a good balance.

Weekly: So is wild Rex gone?
Lavoisier: He's much more mellow than he used to be. He doesn't have eyes for anybody else. It's all about her. She's got him wrapped around her finger.

Weekly: Are you getting positive fan feedback?
Lavoisier: Oh, everybody loves us. I haven't met anybody who thinks they aren't right together.

Weekly: Is it tough doing the love scenes with Melissa Gallo when David Fumero, her real-life beau, is on the set?
Lavoisier: He's never actually on-set when we do it, and I don't think he watches the monitors when we tape it. He's never been in my eye line when I've been kissing his girlfriend. I don't care. He doesn't care. It's all just business.

Weekly: And you are all friends?
Lavoisier: Yeah.

As for the "happily ever after" part of the story, Lavoisier isn't looking that far ahead. His wishes for Rex? "Start getting my hands dirty in the P.I. work, the police work," he suggests. "Keep making Adriana happy — and keep having sex with her."
