ONE LIFE TO LIVE Feature

Postcards From The OLTL Weekend

— By Beth Wasko

In addition to the official fan club luncheon, ONE LIFE TO LIVE fans recently enjoyed smaller events in venues around New York City. Weekly sent summer intern Beth Wasko to cover these get-togethers.

Trevor St. John (Todd)

More than 50 of St. John's fans met in the penthouse of the Millennium Hilton hotel to talk shop — or even better, talk plot — with the actor. Fans shared stories about their favorite scenes and Todd moments, and said they would prefer to see Todd with romantically. St. John noted of Todd's romance with Tea, "I'm enjoying it. I like working with Kassie (DePaiva, Blair), too. It's good, because there are all sorts of reasons for them not to be together, and that's always the best thing. She's a very spontaneous actress, and she wants me to surprise her, so I indulge her."

It wouldn't be a St. John event without his bringing up Todd's odd behavior: "He's opposite [from me] in that he's so immature; such a child. What I like about the character is how all over the map [he is]. I'm always looking for contradictions, new ways in which you can't really define [him]. I think the best characters are indefinable."

Melissa Archer (Natalie) and John Brotherton (Jared)

Archer and Brotherton's event, also at the Millennium Hilton, began as a lovefest for OLTL. "We're very lucky on our show, because we have a great cast," Archer told the group. "From the writers to the producers, it's like a family, and everyone cares." They fielded questions about their characters' storyline. "Are you going to have any kids?" asked one fan. "Kids?" Archer responded. "I don't mind watching someone else's, but I don't want my own," she responded. Brotherton thought it could be difficult for the two, stating, "We'll have to be on the straight and narrow if we have kids."

Fans were curious about the couple's future. "Happy, schmappy. You can be happy for five minutes," Archer said. "That's a soap opera. We can't be happy forever," Brotherton echoed.

Apparently, no topic was off-limits, including Brotherton's hairdo. "I would wear my hair as crazy as I possibly could, but [the show tries] to tone it down a little bit," he noted. "They want [it to be] more conservative. I think Jared would be badass if he shaved his head!"

Brett Claywell (Kyle) was a surprise guest, and said he was very thankful and appreciative for the response he's been given on the show.

Bree Williamson (Jessica)

Williamson did something completely different: At the Solas Bar, her fans enjoyed a karaoke night and a screening of the trailer for her upcoming movie.

The romantic comedy, The Untitled Xander Scott Project, stars Renee Elise Goldsberry (ex-Evangeline), Brotherton, Archer and Brandon Buddy (Cole). The movie is directed by Williamson's husband, Michael Roberts. Fans liked the trailer so much, they asked to see it again.

There was little storyline talk, save for the fact that fans love the Jessica and Brody pairing. Williamson did mention her Emmy dress. "I'm a girl, I wanted to look pretty, and I wanted to find the right dress. This one zipped right up, fit me perfectly, and I can sit in it," she laughed.
