ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Michael and Marcie are now just a memory in Llanview...but we'll never forget them. Here's a flashback.

Marcie (Kathy Brier) and Al (Nathaniel Marston) circa 2002 — ABC

Marcie met Al Holden when she was a student at Llanview University. They fell in love and began a relationship when she helped Al kick his drug habit.

Marcie was devastated when Al died from complications of a liver transplant. Michael McBain, the new doctor in town, rubbed Marcie the wrong way, and the two constantly argued. Al's spirit saw Michael through Marcie's thoughts and realized Michael was his way back to her. Michael died, and Al's spirit took over his body. Al found out later that if he was able to get Marcie to fall in love with Michael, then he would lose all of his memories. [Note: Sound complicated? Here's the behind-the-scenes stuff: OLTL wanted to bring back actor Nathaniel Marston, and as his Al had died oncamera, the soap had to be creative. It was also fan outrage over Marston's exit that resulted in his 2003 return.]

Marcie recognized Al in Michael's eyes, and the two reunited on Valentine's Day, only to have Al tell Marcie he had to go to heaven. Marcie was heartbroken, but he told her that Michael would always have his soul. Al left for heaven, and Michael and Marcie's memories were erased. The two continued their relationship and fell in love. Marcie began to write a novel called The Killing Club.

While Marcie finished her book, Michael concentrated on his medical career, and the two began to drift apart. Murders similar to the ones she had written in her book were uncovered, and Marcie decided to place the money that she made from the book in a fund that was put in the victims' names.

Michael (Nathaniel Marston) and Marcie wed May 5, 2005 — ABC

After standing by each other's sides when it mattered the most, Marcie and Michael tied the knot on May 5. Soon after, they adopted a baby boy, Tommy, only to find out later he was Todd Manning's son.

Michael and Marcie fought to keep Tommy as their own, but the courts awarded custody to Todd. A distraught Marcie went on the run with Tommy.

After being on the run for many weeks, Todd (Trevor St. John) finally caught up Marcie and baby Tommy (now Sam). — ABC

Marcie landed in Paris, Texas, where Viki was working as a waitress at a diner. Eventually, Viki saw Marcie and made some calls to Llanview. The police, Todd, John and Michael circled the diner, where Marcie held Viki hostage. Marcie finally gave up, Todd got Tommy back and renamed him Sam, and Marcie had to do community service. It looked like Marcie would have a chance to become a mom again when Starr told Marcie she could adopt the baby she was carrying. Michael didn't think that was such a great idea, as once again, Todd would be involved in their lives. In fact, things got so bad between them that the couple split. However, shortly after baby Hope was born, Tess switched her dead baby for the live Hope. Marcie, Starr and everyone were devastated, but Michael and Marcie inched their way back together.

After surrendering baby Hope to Starr, Michael and Marcie decided to leave Llanview for good. — ABC

It was finally revealed that Hope was alive, and she was returned to Starr. Starr and Cole immediately gave her to Marcie and Michael, per Starr's original agreement. But it became clear to Marcie that Starr wanted to keep her daughter. Marcie returned Hope to Starr. Michael got a great job offer in Seattle. The two decided to leave Llanview and start a new life in the Pacific Northwest. Marcie and Michael also learned she was pregnant!
