Justin Klosky (Joey) clicked with GUIDING LIGHT viewers immediately, which is why the newcomer recently went from recurring to contract status. But even with his heavier workload, Klosky hasn't given up his other gig. The actor/singer is currently appearing in The Karaoke Show, Saturday nights at Club El Flamingo in New York.

"I re-signed till the end of May," reports Klosky. "It's weird how the whole thing came about. I went to see the show, because my agent is good friends with the producer. We went opening night and he said, 'I want you to sing for this producer.' I'm like, 'I don't want to sing in front of all these people. I'm really not in the mood.' He said, 'Please, just do it.' So I got up onstage and sang Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer". They asked me to come back and sing "Living on a Prayer" three more times. And then finally, my third time there, they said, 'We want to offer you the part of Anthony No. 1 if you want it.' I was like, 'Oh, yeah, that'd be fun.' So now I'm doing that."

As for inking a deal with GL, "I got lucky there, too," he says modesty. "I get speeches from people on the cast, like, 'You never had to screen-test. You don't understand all the stuff we had to go through.' My audition was 10 months of recurring."

One of his best memories of that time was working with Lainie Kazan (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), who played Joey's frisky mom, Shirley. "She was a hoot," raves Klosky. "We had a good time together. We got along well. I learned a lot from her, and she learned a lot from me. I'll never forget what she said to me. She said, 'I give you guys so much credit. This soap thing is unbelievably difficult.'"
