1986
When Dinah donated blood to a friend, it was discovered that she shared the same rare blood type as Ross Marler. Dinah was Ross' daughter! Vanessa Chamberlain had given birth to Ross' baby when she was just 17 — a secret that Vanessa had never told him. Once Dinah's true parentage was out, Joe and Shelley Carney kidnapped Dinah to get ransom money from the wealthy Chamberlains, but their plans were thwarted when Ross saved Dinah. 1987
The sparks flew between Cameron and Dinah, but soon after they began dating, Cameron had a fling with Lacey Bauer. Dinah got involved with Alan-Michael Spaulding, despite her father's rivalry with his father. After bad boy Alan-Michael crashed a motorcycle — with Dinah riding on back — into a car carrying pregnant teen Harley Cooper, who was going into labor, Dinah delivered Harley's baby right in the car. Dinah and Harley became fast friends. Meanwhile, Dinah was having a hard time forgiving her mother for abandoning her as a baby, but she eventually accepted Vanessa in her life.

1988
After Lacey left town, Cameron wanted Dinah back but she was already involved with Alan-Michael, so Cameron started dating Harley — and a love quadrangle was born. Dinah began to suspect Cameron's father George, an addict, of dealing drugs, but Cameron didn't want to believe her. Dinah and Alan-Michael, and Harley and Cameron eventually broke up, and Dinah and Cameron found themselves being drawn back together again. Cameron was forced to see the truth about his father, and after George was arrested, the two left Springfield.

1995
Dinah came back to town from Europe, completely spoiled and broke. Though she tried to hide her financial woes from her parents, her father's wife Blake was onto her. Dinah not only needed more money but she also had a dirty plan to get it: Dinah had Viktor kidnap her so that they could collect the ransom money. But Viktor then turned on Dinah and tried to run off with the money himself. Ross and Vanessa were enraged when they realized Dinah had arranged her own kidnapping. But that wouldn't be Dinah's last stunt: She got involved with Blake's father, the villainous Roger Thorpe, and married him.
