GUIDING LIGHT Feature
On SetCedars Hospital: The original Cedars Hospital was constructed in the late 1940s in Selby Flats (GL's second West Coast location during its radio days). In the '60s, a branch of the hospital was built in Springfield, so the Bauers — and the entire GL storyline — moved to the Midwest.
Cross Creek Cabin: Originally located in Oklahoma, Cross Creek was owned by the Lewises and was also the site of Josh and Reva's first sexual encounter. The cabin was threatened to be bulldozed to make way for construction of the veterans' hospital, but in 2006, Josh decided to move it to Springfield instead and then handed it over to Reva after their divorce. Reva currently resides there.
The Lighthouse: A symbol of Springfield, the lighthouse serves as a gathering place where many characters reflect on their troubled lives or have a romantic rendezvous. In conjunction with the show's 60th anniversary in 1997, everyone in the community went to the lighthouse together and pitched in to fix it so that a troubled ship could safely find its way back to land.
The Beacon Hotel: Owned by Olivia, The Beacon is currently home to many Springfield residents, including Ava, Dinah, Alan-Michael and Mallet.
