1. David Martin's Murder, 1967
Susan Martin (Denise Alexander) was devastated when her son, Dickie, fell off a swing and died. She blamed her adulterous husband, David, for placing the baby in a harness that was too big for him. Enraged, Susan shot and killed David. Susan was tried for murder, but got off by claiming temporary insanity.

2. The Salem Strangler, 1981-82
After his fiancee, "Angel" (Jessica's alternate personality), called off their wedding, Jake snapped and strangled six women, including Mary (Melinda O. Fee) and Laurie. He also relentlessly stalked Renee and Marlena and ended up murdering Marlena's twin, Samantha, mistaking her for her sister. When Jake learned the truth, he held Marlena hostage; Roman rescued her, and Jake ended up shooting himself.

3. The Salem Slasher, 1983-84
In order to keep the DiMera family secrets under wraps (including the fact that Stefano was alive), Andre went after anyone who could spill the beans (preferred method of choice: stabbing and poisoning his victims and leaving them with a raven's feather). The master of disguise underwent plastic surgery so he'd look like his cousin Tony while holding the real deal prisoner -- then changed his appearance again by wearing a Roman mask while he murdered five women, including Renee (Philece Sampler), who had escaped the Strangler. Roman faked his own death to crack the case.
