BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL Interviews

Jack Wagner In Concert

The early 1980s saw Jack Wagner simultaneously climbing the pop charts and breaking hearts as GENERAL HOSPITAL's Frisco Jones. These days, you'll seldom find an '80s compilation CD without "All I Need" on it and Wagner is still breaking hearts as Dominick "Nick" Marone on THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL.

With a new album, Dancing in the Moonlight, releasing on April 5, and tour dates scheduled, the versatile performer is proving that, unlike acid-washed jeans and jelly shoes, he stands the test of time and shows no signs of going out of style.

"You know what? When I walk out with my walker, hopefully it won't be a signal that I'm getting a little older, but they'll help me out and I'll go out there and do my thing," jokes the actor about his upcoming shows at the Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut on April 8-9 and the Westbury Music Fair in Long Island, NY on April 10. "I am looking forward to it because there's nothing like live. I dig live very much. We're going to reinvent ourselves."

As an actor, Wagner is no stranger to reinvention, having played Frisco Jones, Warren Lockridge on SANTA BARBARA, and the scheming Peter Burns on MELROSE PLACE in addition to his current gig with B&B. But musical reinvention is a different dance entirely.

"You know, I am going to stylize it a little bit more and make it more of a show," he explains. "I'll be doing a little Frank Sinatra, hiring a few dancers, doing a little Elvis. It's going to be more, instead of 'Jack Wagner in Concert.'"

But he does admit that the draw of "Jack Wagner in Concert" can't quite be avoided. "There's no way around 'All I Need,'" he assures. "We will be doing that song."

Music to viewers' ears is the news that Wagner plans on more shows. "I'm looking at weekend dates and target markets. It's about getting the right management crew and the right distribution label together to really find the target areas. I'm up for anywhere."

All right — maybe not anywhere. "I don't want to go out to the boonies," allows the actor, "but I do want to hit the really strong markets for me back in the '80s and '90s when I toured. The East Coast definitely is that."

Fans will, no doubt, prove that any coast is a strong market where Jack Wagner is concerned and they'll be ready to dance along with him — day or night.
