McCook, Lamas in Body of Work

— By Deanna Barnert

John McCook (Eric) spent a few days in a morgue last April in order to play a lead role in the short film Body of Work.

"I play a very work-oriented county coroner," McCook explains. "He's retiring after 25 years, and on his last day in his laboratory, some strangeness takes place that's pretty cool. It's kind of eerie. We did about three days of shooting in the bowels of L.A. somewhere, in a coroner's morgue. That was strange. It was a scary place."

But McCook doesn't regret one minute. "The film's a bit like a one-act play, but it was shot very well," he raves. "Farnaz Samiinia, the director, was an intern at THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL and a film student quite a few years ago. She came back around asking if I would do this part. I'm very surprised and pleased at how accomplished she is as a director. It was a very interesting role to play and, of course, it's great to do anything other than Eric Forrester for a change of pace."

McCook was not the only one who got to shake things up. "Lorenzo (Lamas, Hector) was gracious enough to do this almost-cameo role," says McCook. "There are two main characters, and then a small part that comes in at the end, which he played."

Body of Work premieres Feb. 23 in Los Angeles, but it's getting such good buzz that Samiinia and producer Isabel Gallardo are already in pre-production for their first feature film, Strangeland. Word is, they already have a part in mind for McCook.
