Big Brother Meets Bold And Beautiful
— By Devin Owens
Soap Opera Digest: You just got out of the house yesterday. How do you feel right now?
Drew Daniel: I haven't had a chance to really sleep. I just got out of the house, they showed me the check and then said, "Oh, by the way, you're going to be on BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL." I was like, "You're going to kill me here." It was so much at once. But I'm having fun. After this, I'm going to crash and sleep for a month. I'll be hibernating.
Digest: Have you watched soaps before?
Daniel: I watch PASSIONS, but I've been so busy with school and my studies, I never really had a chance to watch a lot of TV. But I'm so excited to be here at B&B. I have seen it in the past, and I recognize some of the faces here and I'm going, "Oh, wow. I get to be on the set with these guys."
Digest: We hear you get to say a couple of lines?
Daniel: Yeah, I've got a couple of lines. I'm a news reporter and I'll be asking Thorne how the winner is going to be determined with the fashion show. There's even going to be a mention about BIG BROTHER, so that will be cool.
Digest: Is it nerve-wracking to memorize lines, as opposed to just saying unscripted stuff on BIG BROTHER?
Daniel: It's definitely different from reality TV, where you're so used to saying whatever comes to mind. But I love acting, so I'm ready to roll.
Digest: Did you get any advice from your co-houseguest Marvin, when he guested on YOUNG AND RESTLESS?
Daniel: He came back and told us how cool it was to work on the set. He said everybody had a good time, but it's still work. He said I would be nervous at first, but just to have fun with it. So, that's what I'm doing.
Digest: Do you want to be an actor?
Daniel: I would love to be an actor. That's my dream, so I'm trying to take advantage of this opportunity right now and hopefully move over to scripted TV.
Digest: Does that mean you'll be staying in L.A.?
Daniel: I plan on going home to Ohio for a little bit, then move back out here and try to make some work happen.
Digest: Have you talked to any past BIG BROTHER contestants who wanted to be actors?
Daniel: Everybody who's done BIG BROTHER in the past, it's like one big family. So, I'm hoping that one of them here will have connections or advice about the industry. But I've learned a lot already. I've done modeling and a little bit of acting in the past, but L.A. is completely different than Ohio. I'm trying to roll with it.

Digest: What's the best thing about being out of the house now?
Daniel: Not having the microphone attached to me. It's weird. It took me a while to get adjusted to that feeling of nobody looking at you. For me, just to lay in bed without someone watching is amazing.
Digest: Do you develop a sense of paranoia when you're in the house?
Daniel: First, I was a little paranoid, but you get used to it. You always know the cameras are there.
Digest: What are you going to do with your prize money?
Daniel: Hopefully, I'm going to be taking my family on my vacation. I'll probably splurge a little bit on other things, but I want to make my money last. If I'm going to move out to L.A., obviously, I'm going to need it.
Digest: You need a car in L.A.
Daniel: Yeah, and the traffic is so crazy here, too. I want to follow my dream here, so it's nice to have that financial backing. It's awesome. I can't believe I have a half-million dollars.
Digest: Two of the houseguests kept changing places with their identical twin. You also have a twin brother. Did the show approach you for this twist?
Daniel: That's exactly how it all started off. I think there was always the possibility of that happening, but it didn't work out.
Digest: What is your brother's name?
Daniel: His name is Ben. It would've been awesome. I've been asked if Ben and I could have ever pulled that off, but you never know. We do look very similar. The same with Natalie and Adria. At first, I couldn't tell the difference with their twin sisters. They're such completely different people, and I can't believe that I didn't realize that for four weeks. My mind was really messed up for a couple of days after that happened.
Digest: How did you feel just before the votes were read?
Daniel: Oh, man, when the jury gave their statements, I really thought that I had lost. I was talking to Cowboy [Michael], and I told him congratulations because I thought for sure he would be the winner. When Diane said that I had lied to her, I was thinking I wouldn't get a single vote. Then I got three votes and it seemed like it took forever for that last vote. My heart was pumping out of my chest, but when they pulled out the key and I saw my name there, I couldn't believe it. I just looked up and said, "Thank you, God."
Digest: You should just tell Diane it was your evil brother twin who lied to her.
Daniel [laughs]: That would have been funny.
Digest: Have you talked to Diane since you won?
Daniel: The first time I saw her since I evicted her from the house, we talked for a couple of hours. All of us had always said to each other that this was a competition and nothing personal, but when Diane left, she was bawling. I wondered if she would ever forgive me. But she's totally cool about it and understands that it was a game. It's great to be with her in a normal environment.
Digest: Any chance of continuing a relationship with each other outside of the house? You both got pretty close in there.
Daniel: Oh, definitely, and we're both looking forward to it. We did get really close. She might be moving out to L.A. She's a cool girl, and we have some genuine good feelings for each other and we're looking forward to just hanging out.
