1990-91
Ridge Forrester's wife, Caroline, was diagnosed with leukemia and sought help from Dr. Taylor Hayes. After the young Mrs. Forrester's tragic death, Ridge turned to the gorgeous doc for TLC. Taylor was dating Brooke's lawyer brother, Storm, at the time and she rejected his proposal. Her love for Ridge wasn't enough to keep his mind off former flame (and stepmom!) Brooke, but it was enough to keep Taylor's ex, Blake Hayes, from winning her back.

1992-93
Unwilling to break up Dad Eric's marriage to Brooke, Ridge pursued Taylor (who by this time had changed her specialty to psychiatry). Taylor played hard to get, but after a romantic romp in Bermuda, she agreed to marry him. After Taylor tied the knot with Ridge, they learned that Brooke was pregnant — perhaps with his baby. Taylor's estranged pop, Jack, arrived and it was learned that she blamed his gambling addiction for her mother's death. Father and daughter eventually made peace. A paternity test identified Ridge as baby Bridget's daddy (it later turned out that he wasn't). Ridge stayed with Taylor, but didn't like her involvement with Dr. James Warwick, her mentor and now patient.

1994-95
Ridge was upset when Taylor accompanied James to Scotland to unravel his dysfunctional past. Upon her return, Taylor erroneously thought that her hubby had run off with Brooke. Devastated, she went to the Big Bear cabin with James, where an earthquake struck. As the injured pair lay in the ruins, Taylor generously deflowered James because he didn't want to die a virgin. They were rescued, but a guilt-ridden Taylor confessed her infidelity in a letter and boarded a plane to Egypt. Ridge never saw the missive; Taylor's jet crashed and she was presumed dead.

Turns out Taylor wasn't on that fateful flight because she had been mugged in an airport bathroom during a stopover in Morocco. The shrink was nursed back to health by smitten Prince Omar, who convinced her to stay with him and changed her name to Laila. Back home, Ridge exchanged vows with Brooke. Taylor secretly returned to L.A. to visit an ailing Jack. Ridge was blinded in a freak accident, so a disguised Taylor posed as a hospital volunteer and watched over him. After Ridge regained his sight, Taylor revealed herself. Ridge filed for divorce and remained with Brooke. Taylor was comforted by Eric and contemplated a romance, but vetoed it because she didn't want to hurt her pal, Stephanie.

1996-97
Ridge mistakenly thought Brooke was having an affair with Grant. When Taylor modeled for a Forrester fashion show, Ridge shocked her by publicly popping the question. Before the wedding, Ridge was arrested for Grant's shooting and Taylor discovered she was pregnant. Ridge was cleared, but before Taylor could share her happy news, she caught him in bed with Brooke. Ridge's brother, Thorne, was in love with Taylor and convinced her to announce that he was the baby's father.
