BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL Timeline

Eric Jr. was played by Jeremy Snider, the real-life son of Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke, also pictured with John McCook, Eric, Sr.).
— CBS

The Rickocheting Forrester

1990-95
Eric Forrester, Jr. makes his debut in November 1990, the product of an eyebrow-raising affair between Brooke Logan and the married, much older Eric Forrester. (The scandalous fact that she was previously involved with his son Ridge already proceeded the birth.) Initially, brother/sister twins Ryan and Nicole Miller alternately play the role, but Katherine Kelly Lang's (Brooke) real-life son Jeremy Snider (born in September 1990) eventually takes over. Although Brooke is still hooked on Ridge, she and Eric tie the knot in 1991. Aside from whining about the tension between his parents and toddling around the house, Junior has little to do. His little sister, Bridget, arrives in 1992 and shortly after, Mom and Dad split. She marries Ridge in 1994.

Rick (Steven Hartman) skipped a few years to junior high.
— CBS

1995-97
Eleven-year-old Steven Hartman takes over as Eric and Brooke's preteen son, who now wants to be called Rick and is acting out in school. While Eric and Ridge argue over who should play father figure, Rick squabbles with best pal C.J. (Sally and Clarke's son) and dumps a bowl of chocolate mousse on young Garrison's head at the hoity-toity Cafe Russe. Ridge and Brooke's marriage turns out to be invalid and she later marries Grant Chambers. Apparently, Rick doesn't like his new stepdad and, while in a trance-like haze brought on by watching violent video games and TV programs (that's right, folks), he shoots Grant, who survives. Rick blocks out the crime (and has yet to remember it), so Grant covers for him. However, the grand gesture doesn't save his marriage to Brooke.

More birthday candles were added to Rick's (Jacob Young) cake, as well as a complicated romance with Amber (Adrienne Frantz).
— John Paschal/JPI

1998-99
For Brooke and Ridge's wedding, Rick shows up as a 16-year-old hormonal teenager (played by Jacob Young) ready to get acquainted with girls. He becomes quite interested in Amber, his and Bridget's nanny who is only two years older than him. The feeling isn't mutual until Rick is in a near-fatal car accident and Amber donates a kidney to keep her charge alive. They bond and fall in love, but Brooke doesn't approve of their romance and kicks Amber out. She winds up pregnant, and after an underage Rick secures his reluctant parents' written permission, they wed — even though he's now smitten with sweet young Kimberly. As Amber gestates, Rick is increasingly drawn to Kim, which makes for a rocky marriage. Amber gives birth to Eric Forrester III, and Rick is now determined to commit to his family.

This Rick (Justin Torkildsen, with Kayla Ewell, Caitlin) grappled with divorce while carving out his own niche in the family business.
— Aaron Montgomery/JPI

1999-2006
Amber and Rick (now looking like Justin Torkildsen) renew their vows, but domestic bliss doesn't last long when, during their honeymoon, Amber confesses that Little Eric is not really their son. Rick is horrified to hear that their baby died at birth and Amber replaced him with her cousin Becky's unwanted newborn. Rick promptly divorces his lying wife, but months later he reconsiders. Too late! Amber is set to walk down the aisle with C.J. Rick tracks down Little Eric's birth father and tries to buy off devious Deacon in exchange for full custody. The scheme backfires and Deacon claims his child, however, he changes his mind and hands Little Eric over to a reunited Rick and Amber. They remarry and Amber becomes pregnant. When their second child dies, she becomes hooked on painkillers. She beats her addiction, but they split after Deacon takes back his son. Rick falls for Thomas's girlfriend Caitlin, but her overprotective father interferes. Rick eventually loses interest and moves to Europe to work at Forrester International.

Rick (Kyle Lowder) is trying to make beautiful music with Phoebe (MacKenzie Mauzy).
— Sean Smith/JPI

2007-present
Irked when his family loses ownership of Forrester Creations thanks to Stephanie, Rick (now played by Kyle Lowder; ex-Brady DAYS OF OUR LIVES) returns to L.A. with a chip on his shoulder. He flips for his "niece" Phoebe (there's no blood relation) and the feeling is mutual. But, save for Brooke, the rest of the family opposes the relationship. Rick and Phoebe secretly try to forge a romance, however, a certain lady from his past could sabotage that.
