ALL MY CHILDREN Interviews
AMC's Josh: I Got You, Babe— By Erica Brown With the Chandler family in turmoil over Colby on ALL MY CHILDREN, JR pushes Babe away — and right into the waiting arms of Josh. "JR doesn't let Babe in," sets up Alexa Havins (Babe). "He has that wall up, and it's not necessarily his fault; it's his past that has built the wall. I think maybe Babe had unrealistic expectations hoping, 'Oh, with time he'll let me in.' Well, it's their second marriage and they have a child together and it still has not changed. That wall is not budging." Convinced things will never change with her husband, Babe lets go of her inhibitions and sleeps with Josh. "Babe can only take so much," explains Havins. "Plus, her husband tried to kill her. I honestly think, in a way, this is a hint of a delayed reaction, emotionally, to that. It happened so fast, and the resolve was in the blink of an eye. I would walk away for a lot less! I think she was so wanting to get that family unit back on track that she didn't allow herself the proper time to heal. Then, on top of it, here's Josh. Everything she wants to feel with her husband she's feeling with Josh, and that's what's missing, because JR doesn't talk." So Josh is everything JR is not — or is Babe really developing feelings for Josh? "It's both," replies Havins. "At first, it's a wake-up call for her current relationship. It's like, 'Wow, this is what I could have and I don't.' And then she genuinely cares for Josh. Their friendship and emotional connection are growing each day. it was pretty much inevitable. Yes, it's a lack of judgement, but passion heats up, and it is what it is." Speaking of passion, be prepared for a hot love scene. "I'm not one for racy scenes," laughs Havins. "I'm like, 'Really? Are you sure? Let's have Chrishell (Stause, Amanda) do these scenes! She has such a good body and is so pretty.' But, yes, the scenes are pretty racy." But Babe doesn't bask in the afterglow — she's too busy feeling guilty. "Absolutely," sighs Havins. "I mean, if she didn't, she'd be a cold, heartless bitch. It's like, 'Oh, my God. I'm horrible. What did I do?' But it's the aftermath that's the big problem. There is so much to consider now: the Chandler family, the Kane family, Little Adam... Her world is in disarray." Especially when JR adds fuel to the fire — but not in the way you think! "When she comes home, JR finally opens up to her. If he was the same heartless guy she would walk away and not look back, because she made the decision before she slept with [Josh] that it was over with JR. In her mind, it was, 'It's done. He's never going to give me what I want. That chapter has been closed and I'm moving on.' That's how I played it. But the whole kink in the plan is, JR opens up to her out of nowhere. After three years of being together, he opens up. She's like, 'How can I walk away when he's doing what I've always wanted him to do?’" Gotta love the timing. "Of course, it's the moment she gets home after sleeping with Josh," laughs Havins. "You guys ask for drama, we'll bring it!"
