It's A Girl!

— By Mara Levinsky

Though it came as no surprise to Jesse when it was revealed on-screen that Natalia is his daughter, it certainly threw his wife, Angie, for a major loop. Here's a tribute to other distaff offspring who seemingly popped up out of the blue.

Taylor Miller and Gillian Spencer
Nina (Taylor Miller) and Daisy (Gillian Spencer)
— ABC

Nina Cortlandt (1981): In classic soap fashion, it was a courtroom reveal that finally informed Nina that her supposedly dead mama, Daisy, was actually alive and had been masquerading as Monique Jonvil, Nina's close confidante for a year. You could have knocked Nina over with a feather — had she not fainted in reaction to the news.

Kelly Ripa and David Canary
Hayley (Kelly Ripa) and Adam (David Canary)
— Ann Limongello/ABC

Hayley Vaughan (1991): To get revenge on Adam for doing her beloved uncle Trevor wrong, teen rebel Hayley leaked to the tabloids that the mogul was her papa. Mom Arlene was stunned because Hayley's "lie" was actually right on the money: She'd had an affair with Adam years earlier, producing Hayley.

Sarah Michelle Gellar
Kendall (then-Sarah Michelle Gellar)
— Ann Limongello/ABC

Kendall Hart (1993): When Erica hired ambitious Kendall as her personal assistant, little did she know that Kendall was actually the daughter she'd given up for adoption years before (and who now wanted revenge on La Kane). Literally, little did she know — she'd blocked out the rape by which she'd become pregnant, the pregnancy itself, and the birth. But Mona recognized Kendall's telltale birthmark, and eventually, the truth was revealed to Erica.

Linda Dano
Rae (Linda Dano)
— Andrew Eccles/ABC

Rae Cummings (2000): Myrtle had lived in Pine Valley for 24 years before viewers learned that she had a daughter, Rae, whom she'd given up for adoption as a newborn. Myrtle revealed the truth to Rae, who was in town to search for her birth mother, so Myrtle gained not only a daughter, but a granddaughter, Skye, who had actually been adopted by Adam!

Rebecca Budig Susan Lucci Alicia Minshew
Greenlee (Rebecca Budig, far. l.) was not happy with mother Mary (Anna Stuart, second from r.) or future stepmother Erica (Susan Lucci) for concealing the truth from her. Also pictured: Kendall (Alicia Minshew).
— Virginia Sherwood/ABC

Greenlee Smythe (2003): It was a major bombshell for both Greenlee and Jack when Mary finally 'fessed up to the fact that Jack, not Roger Smythe, was Greens's biodad. Mary hoped that the info (and specifically, that Erica discovered it and kept it quiet) would split up Jack and Erica, which it did — for a time.

Bobbie Eakes and Alexa Havins
Krystal (Bobbie Eakes) had some explaining to do to Babe (Alexa Havins).
— ABC

Babe Carey (2004): Krystal told David that Babe (then-Alexa Havins) was his daughter in hopes that the reveal would stop him from implicating Babe in the kidnapping of Miranda Montgomery. Krystal didn't know that it was true when she made the claim, but DNA tests soon confirmed it.

Melissa Claire Egan Cameron Mathison Lucy Merriam
Annie (Melissa Claire Egan), Ryan (Cameron Mathison) and Emma (Lucy Merriam)
— Donna Svennevik/ABC

Emma Lavery (2007): Ryan and Annie's romance was in its beginning stages when they learned that baby had come before marriage: Thanks to a long-ago sperm donation, Emma, Annie's precious little daughter, was actually Ryan's child, too.

Alexa Gerasimovich
Kathy (Alexa Gerasimovich)
— Donna Svennevik/ABC

Kathy Martin (2008): Tad knew that he had a daughter, his only biological offspring with late wife Dixie, but what he didn't know is that the little girl called Kathy Mershon was actually the long-missing Kate. Dixie's spirit forced Adam to do the right thing and reunite Kathy with her daddy.
