AMC 2009 Preview

— By Julie Globus

Soap Opera Weekly got the chance to chat with ALL MY CHILDREN's head writer, Charles Pratt Jr., who gave us the scoop on some of your favorite characters. For even more info, check out Weekly's Dec. 30 issue.

WHAT'S IN STORE FOR:

Cameron Mathison
Ryan (Cameron Mathison)
— ABC

Ryan: "Ryan has floated around between women. Sometimes he's a good guy; sometimes he's a little dark. In other words, sometimes he's this, sometimes he's that. My feeling is to get him back to the way he was when I liked him and to the way I think the actor [Cameron Mathison] liked him. Ryan is best a bit roguish, with a little cynicism and a dash of humor — but ultimately a good guy, a white knight. At the same time, [he's] a guy who fights for his cause. I always saw him as an ambitious person, romantically and otherwise. I don't like him bearing his feelings or vacillating between women, or doing the right thing for the wrong reasons or the wrong thing for the right reasons. I see him more as a simpler man with a direct purpose and clear goals, who goes about [reaching] them, never in devious, terrible, crazy ways, but gets his results in any way possible. He spent a little too much time wearing his heart on his sleeve, and now it's time to be more of a man of action."

Vincent Irizarry
David (Vincent Irizarry)
JPI

David: "He can't just be a guy [holed] up in freezing cold Wildwind. David can't be Heathcliff looking out on the moors if he wants to raise a child. He needs to set himself up as a pillar in the community. He's getting all of his ducks in a row as we come into the new year."

Michael E. Knight
Tad (Michael E. Knight)
— Robin Platzer/Twin Images

Tad: "I want to give him a position as the head of [the Martin] household, which is an odd choice, because he has always been the guy who goes through life and feels passionately, and forgives people and does the right thing. The truth is, he is an everyman that I found the audience really responds to. I'm going to position him much further up on the canvas, where he belongs. Everybody wants to see more of him, [and] I want to see more of him."

Bobbie Eakes
Krystal (Bobbie Eakes)
— ABC

Krystal: "With Krystal under David's spell, she is not going to become his zombie. She is going to stand up to him, and they're in a wacky, sick love story, where she is just as smart as David and gives him a run for his money. We are rebuilding the Krystal character to a position where, with Adam on the other side, we can get back to some of what really worked with her — but at the same time forge new ideas."

Walt Willey
Jack (Walt Willey)
— ABC

Jack: "[He is] the only one who Erica can't bulls--t. He reads her like a card, so whenever she needs a conscience, there he is. Whether they will ever go back to being married or having a full-on romance, it isn't going to be right away."

imagine if they actually had writers that knew how to write for amc, and knew the history of amc, and knew what the loyal fans want. imagine!

While I'm thrilled to see Jack/Erica in a preview, I don't want Jack sitting around only being her conscience. He is her soulmate, the love of her life and vice versa and we fans want them BACK AS A ROMANTIC COUPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tad does the right things? Strange to call a murderer that!

ITA with the other poster about Jerica. Pratt isn't going to get me to watch until they show me J/E are happening again. The rest of the show stinks and I don't watch any of it anymore.

I miss Carmon. I can't stand that David is back, and what Amanda is doing is a little far fetch. Crystal and Adam need to get back together. I want fun back in the show. I liked the way it was funny once in a while

I want Krystal and Adam reunited and I want Erica and Jack reunited. Carmen should hook up with Tad. I Hope Greenlee doesn't get killed off. bring back reggie montgomery for Natalia.

The writers of amc need to go back and look at some of the work from the 90's when, to me, amc was at the top of it's game. I used to record and watch amc every day...now I could care less if I catch it or not. All I have to say is, One Life to Live is where it's at!!! Now that's what you call a great soap opera.

For 2009, I would like to see less of Ryan, he annoys me and I can't stand how he has women crawling all over him. I'm not happy with Greenlee, it fell apart when the "replacement" was replaced with the "original." I want Aiden to find the right women, pehaps with Annie. I don't like the Amanda, JR, and David storyline.

I don't care if I miss it or not either. There is way too much Annie, Aiden, Greenlee etc, and not enoughsubstance. I don't care about any of those people anymore. I'm glad Bianca back, but I don't care about Reese (and her issues) eiher. Take a break writers, and look over the show from the 30 years. Figure out how to fix the mistakes, get rid of people and write somehting I want to watch.

I think that Jack and Erica should NOT be reunited. Come on face it, they've been doing that break-up, get back together thing long enough....it's dull!!! Jack and Carmen need a better stroryline and Erica should be paired up with somebody that can set her straight. Don't get me wrong, love the diva but she is turning out to be way to bitchy!! The whole Annie thing is tiring!!! Annie's was this good girl mom then turns into this crazy person. Sorry but that was a complete 180 there.
