BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL
2009 Daytime Emmy Award Show - 08/30/09 What was the CW thinking when they allowed Vanessa Williams to take up so much time singing yet they cut off Brad Bell's acceptance speech for winning Best Daytime Drama for the Bold & the Beautiful after waiting 22 years to do so! They also had commercials interrupting the program during Tyra Banks presentation! Simply criminal!!! CW Programming needs to be held accountable for there actions and make a public apology to Brad Bell!!!
Oh this had to have been the worst broadcast I have ever seen regarding any type of an award show. I went ahead and made sure that I set my dvr to record this being I am such a huge daytime fan. I was so disgusted by the way it looked and how it was broadcasted. It seemed so choppy and that's how you remember Guiding Light?? That was a disgrace in the way they honored them. Bold and The Beautiful finally wins, but we don't get to see the speech. I am not a huge fan of the show but I enjoy listening to the speeches and just was amazed how fast I went ahead and deleted that off my dvr! Next time I will go ahead and let my nephew produce the show he's 6 and would do a much better job! Very poorly done CW!!
I am so glad Christian LeBlanc won!! I was also very glad to see Julie Marie Berman win as well! However, I am sorry but what was CW thinking! I mean I have seen a better broadcast done back in my old high school when they were doing the Good Morning Madison show. This was a joke and to cut The Bold & The Beautiful speech off was not in good taste. Heaven forbid we see less of Vanessa Williams and more of the actual Daytime Emmy's! Also, Guiding Light deserved much better then what they received! This was a show I used to skip classes for and to see that they got a few clips and that was it was very disappointing! Shame on you CW!! Shame on you!!
Shame on CW. Truly a bummer of a show. It almost turned into the Vanessa Willliams show. Guiding Light deserved way more than what they received. Bold & Beautiful best soap with there constantly recycled story lines? UGH! Days of our lives should have won. Peter Reckell deserved the emmy this year. Bradford Anderson deserved the award for younger actor. Apologies should be extended to Mr. Bell for his acceptance speech and to the other actors for having theirs interrupted by commercials. Shame on CW. Hopefully a prime channel or soapnet can air the show next year.
I never miss the Daytime Emmys, and I thought I had seen the worst the last 2 years. CW did the worst I have ever seen in my life! It should have been called the Vanessa Williams show -- what was with all the singing, anyway? I agree that cutting in with commercials was extremely poor taste. I was, however, very moved by the African footage and by how it so touched the lives of the stars who went there. Guiding Light should have been given as much time as they wanted last night.
Finally Peter Reckell is nominated after 26 years and is totally shut out. He deserves so much better than that.
I am totally disappointed that Bree Williamson did not win Outstanding Supporting Actress! I love Tamara Braun from when she was on GH but she wins for playing on Days for 6 months and Bree has been playing 3 characters for the last couple of years...completely unfair. Congrats to Julie Marie Berman...love her & so happy that she acknowleged Kirsten Storms - wish it would have been a tie between them. Sad that Bradford Anderson didnt win! I'm glad the CW picked up the broadcast but the show was awful and at times boring. I look forward to the Daytime Emmy's every year and this year was disappointing. The red carpet pre-show didn't interview hardly any OLTL or GH actors.
I agree with the previous post CW did a horrible job! I never miss the Daytime Emmy's! This is something that my girlfriends and I get together and watch and it was an embarassment!! I am so bummed that Bree Willamson did not win! However, KUDOS to Julie Marie Berman! Also, congrats to Christian LeBlanc..he makes what The Young & The Restless is! However, I pray that next year Vanessa Williams isn't hosting on CW and we can actually get real clips of shows! Guiding Light deserved much better and so did Bold & The Beautiful!! Thumbs down CW!!
I am so happy for DAYS for FINALLY getting recognition. I was very disappointed, however, that they lost Best Drama and Best Actor. And the way the CW handled the emmys felt like they didn't know what was going on and like, "We're just airing this out of generosity!" kind of vibe. But, once again, congratulations to DAYS, Tamara Braun & Darin Brooks for well deserved wins!
I agree with all the comments about last nights Daytime Emmy's. It was horrible. All the commercial interuptions were rude and disrespectful. Shame on CW. Guiding Light deserved so so so much more. It's my favorite Soap and I will miss it terribly. Daytime TV deserves so much more. I hope next years is better. MS in KY.
For the CW I fell asleep need I say more??? What a shame these actors worked more than these 12 millions $ celebrities and don't get the proper praise or recognition. Hopefully next year will be an improvement from this year. What a disapointment! Cali
I don't think that the Emmys were that bad, I've seen worse... and I think we should give CW a break, at least they were willing to air them when no one else would. However I hated that they cut off Brad Bell's speech... but the same happened to GH recently. I enjoyed Vanessa Williams, but I agree that some of the singing could have been cut out to allow for more time for the speeches. The Emmy wins went to so many different shows, it was refreshing.
That was a horrible show. I thought it was just me so glad to see the other comments. I taped it since I was not home and just fast forward to the big stuff and the deleted the rest. It was nice to see Days finally get some awards.
Nice that Betty White was on stage, but what was the point of just showing some clips from Guiding Light? Nothing about the 70 year long history of the show. Just clips. I keep hoping that sometime someone will note that there once were Radio soap operas. When someone sometime mentions Ma Perkins I will probably OD.
I also DVRed the Emmys this year and I watched them last night. AWFUL, EMBARASSING, and downright BORING is how I feel. Vanessa Williams was awful, some of the actors couldnt pronounce the names and the speeches were LESS then 30 seconds. I was glad to see Sesame Street get it due, but that song was PRETAPED and came out just bad. WAY to go Tamara, Vincent and Susan!!!! I cant believe that the show gave then NO kudos. HOW Sad. And as for GL..thanks for the memories. Its going to be sad to see which show falls next. My guess is Days..and how many times were Bo and Hope showcased on the montage. Peter and Kristian do NOTHING for me. Thanks for the 25 mins that I did watch..and Julie Berman speech had me in tears!!!

When are some of daytimes older, established character actors going to start getting the recognition they deserve? What about the great unsung work being done year after year by As The World Turns, and Days of our Lives vets? The Supporting categories should be renamed "Best Young Hottie In a Daytime Drama." And when will daytime dramas ever become fuly intregrated? With the exception of All My Children, no other drama really has a non white family on a front burner storyline.
I with most of you. The Daytime Emmys this year stank! I was nothing but upset when Brad Bell was cut off to accept the Emmy for best drama for B&B because I'm a huge B&B fan. As far as I'm concerned, no more singing for the opening of the Daytime Emmys, please! I'm not a DAYS fan but Peter Reckell should have won the Emmy for Lead Actor. Even though I'm not a GL fan, I love Betty White for her presentation of GL but it was disappointing that they didn't give them more time for their recognition. I was thrilled, however, that Vincent Irizarry won the Emmy for Supporting Actor for AMC, finally! Go Vinnie, you're hot! I'm an ATWT fan and it was a trifle disappointment that Van Hansis didn't tie with Vincent Irizarry for Supporting Actor.
Every year me and my family watches the emmys. And this year was the worst of all. But what do you expect when its on a crappy network like the CW. I was outraged when they cut off Brad Bell's acceptance speech for best drama because I'm a huge B&B fan. I'm an ATWT fan and another disappointment that Van Hansis didn't win once again. And AMC should had tied with B&B. But the even worst part was the way that GL was treating after 72 years they get a crappy tribute while Seseme Street gets a even better tribute. And the fashion show was a joke. Hell the whole award show was a joke.
The poor quality of the 2009 Daytime Emmys is just more proof that appreciation for the daytime drama is taking a nose dive. Truly gifted daytime actors never seem to get the recognition they deserve, for it's become a popularity contest, not a talent contest. In summary, I am deeply saddened at the demise of Guiding Light. GL is a true classic and an icon. After 50+ years of great story writing and telling, the only thanks it gets is being replaced by another damn game show! What has happened to traditions in today's society? Sad, sad, sad.
Finally, finally something is given to the B&B they certainly deserved it. Was this the Vanessa Williams show I tuned in or what? Someone should apologize to the B&B about that speech we didn't hear. simply unforgivable.
