Entertainment Network:

Darius McCrary 411

YEARS ON SHOW: 2009-present

California native Darius McCrary was born into an entertainment family. His father, Howard McCrary is a singer and composer and his younger brother, Donovan, is also an actor.

McCrary was only 10 years old when he appeared in his first film, Big Shots. From there, he went on to star in Mississippi Burning and landed guest spots on the popular prime-time series AMEN and WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW! He got his big break when he landed the role of Eddie Winslow in the sitcom FAMILY MATTERS in 1989. The show became a huge hit and stayed on the air for nine seasons.

Once FAMILY MATTERS ended, McCrary continued with his acting career throughout the late '90s and 2000s, starring in the short-lived series FREEDOM and doing guest spots on many shows, including GIRLFRIENDS, EVE and COLD CASE. He was also in several movies, such as 15 Minutes, Transformers and Saw VI.

In December 2009, Y&R recast the role of Malcolm Winters and chose McCrary. The actor had big shoes to fill in taking over for his Daytime Emmy Award-winning predecessor, Shemar Moore, who last played Malcolm in 2005. However, McCrary has jumped right into a story in which Malcolm returned to reconnect with his biological daughter, Lily, and clashed with his brother, Neil. The job also reunited him with his one-time FM co-star, Bryton James (Devon; ex-Richie, FAMILY MATTERS).
