Okay, don't get me wrong, I don't mind angst, but GMAB...
Zach & Kendall hit the top of the charts for many reasons..
They are the sexiest couple in daytime.
The most loved (JMO)
The most exciting
and they are hands down
The Most Tortured Couple In Daytime and the torture never seems to end...
Yes, I know happy is boring, but they never get happy..
I've seen couples on other soaps, hell even on AMC everyone is allow some payoff, happy times before getting bombarded wtih angst, but not Zach/Kendall.
Ryass has been a constant throne in their sides, sucking the life out of the show and every story they are in..
GL, who is leaving, thank goodness, also caused them nothing, but pain..
The Satin Slayer story is one of my favorites because even thought they had angst, they were fighting together, side by side, and that is why we watched, but since then nothing but non-stop, over the top, poorly written angst...
Since GL return Zen and the fans have had nothing, but angst..
From GL terrorizing a pregnant Kendall, Ryan terrorizing a pregnant Kendall, to Spike's kidnapping, Ian born to early, 2 kids fighting for their lives, the revenge schemes, the hole from hell, Hannah, the 5MS, Kendall's attempted rape that the writers forgot about....(guess we only hear about what Michael did to BB), Ryass amnesia crap, Annie, GL, then the twister, Kendall in a coma, BOB, Reek and her vile confusion and chasing after Zach, GL death, etc, etc, etc..
I'm not asking for Zach & Kendall to have happy, happy, happy 24/7, but GMAB why the hell can't we have a bit of happy for them, for longer then an epi before the [censored] hit the fan again..
I know that TPTB and the mags say that a happy couple is a boring couple, but I beg to differ here...
Angst is great... It makes for great drama when well-written and thought out, but all the time, 24/7 non-stop with no payoff...
I want a little romance for Zen.. I mean, if they can shove Rylee down our throats, why not Zen....the ratings would skyrocket.
I want some happy family moments..just a few...
I want to see Zendall fighting the good fight side by side for a change...
Hell, the hottest, most exciting, interesting, loved couple in daytime, never got a honeymoon, family vacation, or just 5 freaking minutes alone, in love, strong before the next disaster...
Again, not asking too see sunshing and roses all the time, but for Zach/Kendall, I think they've paid their dues and so have we..
The most tortured couple in daytime deserve a break...
How about bring them together... Give the fans a hot, sexy, happy reunion...send them on a honeymoon...then an adventure...
Give us and them a short break, and I'm not talking about 1/4 epi before torturing them again..
Is that too much to ask for.
Can you imagine the ratings hike if someone at ABC/AMC would pass the torture to the next couple for a week, month before bringing it back to Zen...
I want a break from the torture, if only for a little while....
Anyone else..
Quote:I think AMC is missing the boat by constantly putting these 2 thru the wringer. It gets old after a while. Let them & those boys be happy. No tornado's, no heart transplants, no sister who could've gone to the sperm bank & not hurt her sister, no drama queen mother (Erica), no so called friends like Ryan & Greenlee, just some peace, at least for a short spell. Happiness is as critical an element on any soap as trials & tribulations are, it's an important balance. ICAM! A recent editorial in SOW said it best when the author asked if Zach and Kendall couldn't work together on something for a change, both of them on the same side, instead of fathering children and being in comas. The last time we saw that was the Satin Slayer story. Happy two year anniversary, everyone. That's much too long to wait for a good story where Zen aren't necessarily happy, but they're not at each other's throats, either. At some point, I'd like to see Chuck Pratt bring Zach down from that tree he chased him up when Kendall went into the coma and Bianca showed up pregnant. The risk is that we viewers will get tired of the same old, same old and will tune out, whether Zen are together or not, because it's not interesting to tune in day after day and see more conflict being heaped on the Slaters. How about we reduce the number of seemingly insurmountable obstacles Zen have to face to one at a time, rather than two or three? I think that's fair.
Boy both of you couldn't be more right. The torture must end. But while we're at it, let's have some light for the whole show not just Zendall. The entire show is depressing since Pratt took over. After Greenlee dies, that will have been six deaths he has written for AMC in less then six months and non stop angst for Zach and Kendall. I don't want happy, happy and rainbows and puppies 24/7 either but torture 24/7 I don't want either.A happy couple is a boring couple? Are real life couples happy 24/7? Don't think so.I have been preaching this since this abomnible baby storyline hit the airways, but Thorsten Kaye's talent was totally wasted in this storyline and his charcater not needed in what was supposed to be a ground breaking storyline that wasn't. The time his leading lady was on sabbatical he should have been mixing it up with Adam. Isn't Fusion in financial trouble and Adam invovled? Instead screen time was wasted on Reese,a empty gesture of a character that should have been given to David Canary's Adam or used to build up the character of Taylor. Lost opportunities here. There are enough flaws and shortcomings in the characters of Zach and Kendall themselves to keep creative and talented minds quite busy. There's a lot of idleness at AMC!AMC is abundant in talent and rich with history but all we get are vacuous stunts that shock and awe for a moment and useless characters like Reese shoved in our faces in lieu of in depth storylines. Thorsten Kaye and Alicia Minshew have wonderful comedic timing. Let's see them involved in a storyline where they are at odds over some casino business. Let them banter and snark at each other at work, TK and AM shine at this) but go home and be happy.I haven't been this drawn to AMC since early Jack and Erica days. But times have changed since then. I don't think fans suffer constant angst from useless third parties anymore. They have grown and become more sophistcated and don't find constant trouble of that sort very compelling. Time to think outside the triangle. The most I want right now is the disappearance of useless Reese, Bianca the betraying sister and the constant reminder of that betrayal, that baby. I hope they all go up into the Martin attic and are never heard from again.
ITA with all of you...Soap operas are supposed to be a mixture of:Romance, Love in the Afternoon, Drama, Suspence, Angst. They are supposed to have:Couples to root for, great friendships & fantastic rivarlies, families that stick together and tear each other apart...They are supposed to be a mixture of sadness, pain, hurt, laughter, fun, passion, and most importantly payoff..AMC has none of the above anymore...Oh, they have angst... Lots and Lots of angst, but that's it..Couples on AMC that fans love:Zendall, Jessie/Angie. Can anyone name any other couple to root for on AMC....because I can't..Friendships that are strong: Tad/Jesse, Erica/Opal, anymore...Nope... Hell, niether Zach or Kendall have ever had a real friend...You know, the kind of friend that has no agenda, no ulterior motives...Passion.... I don't considered watching Ryass having sex with his mistress, on the living room floor, while his wife is in the nuthouse, and kid is either upstairs or at Opals passion..Payoff is non-existant on AMC....I just don't get it..Angst is find, but constant angst pushes you away..What I would like to see is this..Zendall get through this poorly written mess, come out stronger, more in love, together... Get a little payoff with a romantic getaway, familty time together, just a little for goodness sake....Not asking for months, but it would be nice to see them all about themselves for longer than 2 mintues in an episode, then do a stroy similar to the SS s/l... Where they are fighting an enemey together.... with a little laughter, along with the tears and PLEASE< No Freakin Ryan involved..I would also love to see Jessie/Angie have a story.... some payoff, some fun...Then, while that is happening spread the angst to other characters....I seen TPTB and the editors of the mags say, A happy couple is a boring couple.... but a couple that is constantly torturned, a couple in constant angst is a way too push the viewers out the door.I would also love to see both Zach and Kendall get a real friend... They have plenty of rivals, but no friends...Zach-Tad..... MEK/TK are excellent together.... Zach-JesseKendall and someone, anyone... Right now, I wouldn't mind if David became Kendall's buddy.... just a friend.. No romance...Those two could keep each other out of trouble or try too and have each others back...I used to love Zach/Josh, but they killled off the wrong Kane..Come on PTB.... Spread the angst and destruction around and give Zen a break and the fans...same goes for Jangie..I want some payoff this time....and then I want to see them working together to fight the bad guys...Enough with the torture...
There is such a wonderful chemistry between the actors who portray Zach & Kendall, not forced, almost like they really are married. He's the rudder for Kendall's sometime out of control boat. She's the princess that Zach would slay dragon's for. AMC has the chance to make a great Super Couple last, rival the originals they had in Phillp/Tara, Jenny/Greg, etc. A more mature couple many of the longtime fans can appreciate & enjoy. I fervently hope they don't toss away the chance to do something wonderful with this couple moving forward. I have to wonder if AMC recongnize's what an opportunity this pairing is. How many times have we seen so called "super couples" that just don't work, no real sense of connection between either the actors or characters. To find one is something that should be prized, not used for target practice in the overly dramatic dept. Think Zach & Kendall should rent a yacht & sail around the Carribean for a spell with those 2 boys, we can occasionally check in, watch as Kendall knocks Zach overboard by untying a halyard & the mast slips, or watch them frolic on some private island's beach, or see them standing on deck with the glory of a bright moon reflecting off them. Show them in love, happy. But for crying out loud, give them a reprieve from all the constant upheaval, make them the couple others turn to for advise on how to make a relationship work or the pair everyone admires for being happy & staying together no matter the odds.Ok, I will now end Chapter 2 of my Rant/Rave on this subject.

Great post! Here's the thing. I have never ever been bored by Zendall for one second they have been on the screen together. Even when unhappy with the s/l (which has been for most of the past 2 years), I have never been bored by them. TPTB fail to recognize how fabulous TK and AM are with comedy and light romance--like in 2005 when they were falling in love.Zendall is AMC's money couple, supercouple, legacy couple, yet they have never had a honeymoon--how many has Ryan had--3 or 4? Ryannie had a location shoot romping on a beach and one on horseback. What would you give to see Zendall romping and being romantic on a beach?TK and AM are great at angst but angst 24/7 is too much. Yes, send them on an adventure--Hart to Hart, Nick and Nora Charles type stuff. That would be adorable. One thing I believe is that writing comedy is more difficult than writing drama and this particular staff I feel doesn't have the talent for it. I've noticed whenever they do try a humorous situation or witty line with other characters, it falls flat. But heck, with TK and AM, give them a situation, put them in a scene and let them ad lib it. I think they've ad libbed quite bit of their funny/romantic stuff already.I hope someone out there is listening and once this abominable spermgate is wrapped up, we will get some s/l's that do this amazing, magical couple justice.

What is truly be-deviling for me, I quit watching AMC after many years of being one of those from the beginning, Phillip/Tara storyline, life long fans. I was drawn back into the AMC fanbase simply because of he Zach/Kendall story. I really truly enjoyed it, warmed my heart. Here was a strong (& easy to look at) male character, who even Erica couldn't top, who loved Myrtle and was a perfect match for Kendall. I too understand there must be up/downs to keep a soap couple interesting, but come on. How hard would it be to allow this couple some stability & happiness? Without the constant problems presented by those who supposedly love these 2? Maybe I ask to much, but for some reason, I could see Zach/Kendall being a permenant couple, that in 10-15yrs are the new version of Ruth/Joe Martin, every soap needs just one wise, long married couple, I think AMC is missing the boat by constantly putting these 2 thru the wringer. It gets old after a while. Let them & those boys be happy. No tornado's, no heart transplants, no sister who could've gone to the sperm bank & not hurt her sister, no drama queen mother (Erica), no so called friends like Ryan & Greenlee, just some peace, at least for a short spell.
