Y&R Week of September 28, 2009
Monday
At the hospital, a tearful Traci told Dr. Snyder she's ready to take Colleen
off of life support because it's just not fair to her daughter. Billy, Lily,
Abby and Steve were there and said their good-byes to Col. Meanwhile, J.T.
And Victoria informed Nick that Victor needs a new heart or he'll die within
a week. In Victor's room, Nikki urged him not to give up and was determined
to find him a new heart. Dr. Swift informed everyone that they're
doing their best and Victor is now on the transplant list ... but it’s a very long list.
Jana, Kevin, Amber and Daniel continued to quibble with Gloria about what
exactly to to with the painting. Glo was miffed that she was getting the
short end of the stick regarding the plan and threatened to turn them all in
if she didn't get her cash. Daniel reminded her of the plot to return the
Terroni to Deacon so Amber will be free. Daniel got a call from Cane
informing him about Colleen being declared brain-dead. Everyone was shocked
and headed over to the hospital, except for Glo who called Deacon to have a
little private chat. Glo called Sharpe out on low-balling
the amount of dough he claimed he'd get from the painting and demanded more
of her own cut of the cash. Deacon reluctantly gave her more money. After he
left, Glo was stunned when Jeffrey approached her and asked what she's up
to. Glo explained she's helping an art dealer with a project for some cash.
They celebrated with lobster, caviar and fancy champagne ‹‹ on Deacon's tab.
Jeff surmised Glo is holding out info about her deal with Sharpe.
Back at G.C. Memorial, everyone left Colleen's room so Lily could say a
heartfelt farewell to her best friend. "I wish you peace and a safe journey
but I know this is not the end for us. We will always be connected and best
friends forever," she wept. Daniel and Amber arrived and gave their
condolences to Lily. Daniel pointed out how close the duo was and was upset
that he couldn't give Lily a hug. "She's taking a risk just being here,"
Cane noted. Lily pulled back her face mask and gave Col a good-bye kiss on
the cheek, anyway. Daniel also shared a sweet good-bye with Col. Jana and
Kevin arrived, much to Traci's surprise. Kev apologized for all the terrible
things he did to Col in the past and was overcome with emotion. Abby,
meanwhile, went to the chapel with Billy, where she wondered why she's
losing everyone she loves. He tried to console her.
Amber and Daniel were mortified when Deacon arrived at the hospital to
retrieve his painting. Daniel started yelling and got kicked out of the
building. Later, Deacon showed up at the coffee shop to say that he'll give
Daniel more time to come up with the painting, providing it's the right one.
As JT left, he spied Victoria chatting with Deacon. Nick found Nikki at the
chapel and told her that they never received the letters she wrote to them
during her absence, but said he's grateful they found her when it counted
most. Nick admitted he railed at Victor the night before he was shot and is
still angry at his father but doesn't want him to die. "Someone's going to
have to die for your father to live," Nikki pointed out.
At home, Lily continued to grieve Colleen's death and wondered how she'll
ever be able to live with out her BFF. She revealed to Cane that she
recently had a dream in which Colleen told her that she's going to beat the
cancer and hold her own baby in her hands. Cane gave Lily a scrapbook for
her to make of all of her and Col's good memories together.
The doctor informed Traci that Colleen is an organ donor and they can't
carry out her wishes unless the next-of-kin approves. Meanwhile, Victor's
doc explained to his family there are no guarantees he'll get a transplant
in time.
Tuesday
Michael visited Victor in the hospital. Newman was pleased to see his friend, though he could barely speak. After he, Nick and Victoria left, Nikki sat with Victor and told him that the family was doing their best to find him a heart. Victor asked for Ashley and Nikki replied that Jack took her home.
Meanwhile, Traci and the Abbotts sadly prepared to take Colleen off of life support. Traci was still having a difficult time accepting the fact that her daughter's life would be over and Colleen wouldn't get to do all of the things she'd wanted to do, like get married and have children. Billy and Steve suggested she take a sedative, but Traci didn't want to be doped up during Colleen's last moments on earth.
In the mental hospital, a pregnant Sharon sat knitting an outfit for her baby. She winced in pain when she felt a contraction and spoke aloud to the baby, reminding her that it wasn't time to be born yet.... In the hospital hallway, Adam informed Dr. Taylor that Ashley was also there.... Ashley wished she could be there for Traci, but Jack noted that the best thing she could do for her sister is to take care of herself and the baby. A nurse was just about to listen to the baby's heartbeat, but Dr. Taylor interrupted and said that he would take over. Jack was then about to listen to it, but had to leave when he got a phone call. It was Billy, who informed him that they were taking Colleen off of life support. Jack told him that Ashley finally agreed to go to a mental hospital, but implored his brother not to tell Traci about Ashley's condition. Jack left for the hospital, with Taylor promising him that Ash was in good hands. After, Dr. Taylor angrily told Adam about their close call with the nurse almost learning that Ashley wasn't pregnant. He warned Adam that his plan was going to fall apart, but Adam was confident that he could keep it going. Later, Sharon cried out for help, saying that she was going into labor.... Ashley asked Adam and Taylor to let her have some time to herself. Just then, a nurse asked Dr. Taylor to check on a pregnant woman, not saying that it was Sharon. Adam insisted on staying with Ashley in Dr. Taylor's absence. She again blamed herself for causing Victor's heart failure, but Adam assured her that she had nothing to do with it. She was grateful to Adam for being such a good friend.
Jack arrived at the hospital, where Billy — outside of Traci's earshot — was breaking down over Colleen. He noted that Traci now had to decide whether to donate Colleen's organs. Traci was having a difficult time concentrating on the documents, which Steve agreed to look over for her. Jack entered Colleen's room and urged Traci to do what Colleen would've wanted; to live their lives and do their best to be happy.
Victoria and Nick went to the chapel to pray for their father. "It's hard to accept sometimes that he's mortal," sighed Nick. Victoria was frustrated that Victor never seems to learn from his mistakes — and that he keeps setting things in motion that backfire. Nick agreed and noted that Victor still hadn't apologized for bringing Patty to town. Victoria believed that if their father got a new heart, he'd turn over a new leaf, but it wouldn't last. They decided to accept who he is and love him anyway. Later, Michael explained to Victor and the Newmans how difficult it was going to be to get him a new heart. Victor realized that his chances of surviving were slim.
Nick didn't want to just sit around and wait. Michael suggested they ask a family to specify Victor as a recipient. Nikki recalled how many years before, she and Jack donated their child's heart to a little boy when they knew that their baby wouldn't make it. In Colleen's room, Jack also shared how he and Nikki were comforted knowing that their baby's heart was saving someone's life.... Jack promised to support Traci regardless of what decision she made, though he pointed out that if she donated Colleen's organs, a part of her daughter would go on living. Traci promptly signed the papers.... Nikki, Nick and Victoria realized that even if a family agreed to give Victor a heart, there was no guarantee that it would be a match.... Abby cheered up slightly when she visited her father and he asked her to get him a milkshake. When she left for the cafeteria, he had a serious talk with Nick and Victoria about his chances of living. He encouraged them to say anything they had to say to him before it was too late.
Sharon was alarmed when her water broke, but Dr. Taylor was on hand to help her.... Ashley confided to Adam about how she'd been planning to leave Victor. Adam confessed that he'd wanted to get revenge on Victor while he was in jail, but those feelings vanished when he saw his father in the hospital. Ashley stated that Victor loves Adam and is grateful to him for helping her and the baby. Adam became uncomfortable. Ashley then had a "contraction" and believed that she was going into labor. She demanded that Adam get Taylor for her. The doc left Sharon to tend to Ashley. Adam noticed that Sharon was the other woman in labor and told Taylor to make sure Ashley and Sharon didn't go to a hospital. He promised to "take care" of everything. In the hallway, Adam ran into a patient and promised to let her escape. He then opened the emergency exit for her, setting off the alarm.
Nikki tried to comfort Abby. Her interest was piqued when Abby stated that Traci was planning to donate Colleen's organs. Later, Nikki pleaded with the Abbotts to consider giving Colleen's heart to Victor.
Wednesday
At the hospital, the Abbotts were shocked at Nikki's request for Victor to receive Colleen's heart. Billy immediately responded "no." Jack sided with his brother, saying there was "no way in hell" Victor would get Colleen's heart. Nikki addressed the group, imploring them to think about all the people who would be hurt if Victor died. Billy blurted out that everyone would be "better off." Traci cut him off, saying that she would consider the request. Nikki was grateful, and left to give them some time. Traci wondered aloud if receiving Colleen's heart would change Victor for the better. Jack pointed out that Victor did take three bullets that had been meant for him, but Billy was angrier and more determined than ever to block the donation. Mac pointed out to Billy that it is not as if they would be trading Colleen's life for Victor's, as Colleen was already gone. She went on to remind him that Colleen's wish was to be an organ donor. "I don't care - the man is a murderer!" raged Billy.
Jack went to the chapel, and John's ghost appeared to him. Father and son discussed the situation. Jack unleashed his anger about Victor, and John agreed that he did have a laundry list of sins. John asked Jack to look within himself for the answer to a very difficult question. Nikki arrived in the chapel and begged Jack to find it in his heart to overlook his "war" with Victor, and just view the situation as saving the life of a dying man. Jack responded that the fact that it IS Victor is the MOST determining factor.
Meanwhile, from his hospital bed, Victor encouraged Victoria and Nicholas to say anything to him that was on their minds. Victoria went first, sharing her memory of Victor telling her that they were alike. When it was Nick's turn, he asked his father if he felt guilty about being responsible for Summer's coma. Tearful, Victor apologized for his part in all the agony. "I don't know what kills me more," Nick whispered to Vicky. "The fact that he could die, or the fact that my daughter almost died because of him.” Victoria convinced Nick that they should forgive him. Nick changed the subject when Nikki joined the group. He made an announcement to everyone that there would be another Newman grandchild — Sharon's baby was his after all. He asked them to keep it under wraps until he could tell Phyllis. Victor was overjoyed about the news. Nicholas shared that while he already loves the new baby girl and will be committed to raising her, he will not leave Phyllis and Summer.
Chance and Jill dined with Nina and Phillip in celebration of Jill's birthday. Katherine surprised Jill by joining them. She presented Jill with a gift — an invitation to come back to work at Chancellor Industries. Jill was touched, and proclaimed that this was the best birthday she had had in a long time. Kay then received a call from Nikki at the hospital, and excused herself to be with her. A suddenly bitter Jill griped that Katherine always dropped everything to be with Nikki, the "daughter she always wished she had." The others rebuked Jill, saying that she always made everything about herself. "If you want to be like a daughter to her," suggested Phillip, "maybe you should start acting like one."
Katherine arrived at the hospital and visited Victor. She reached for his hand, and reassured him that she would look after things should he not make it. "But after everything I've been through, my friend, I have learned to believe in miracles," Katherine whispered to him.
Jill followed Katherine to the hospital. She was stunned to find out the truth about Victor's and Colleen's situations. She offered to stay with Kay while she waited for word. "I would like that very much," a tearful Katherine responded, and held Jill's hand.
Back in Victor's room, Nikki comforted him. Victor thanked her for her comfort, but noted that his hands were ice cold. He confided in her that he felt himself slipping away. Meanwhile, Jack burst into Colleen's room and advised Traci to make the heart donation to Victor. "Do it, Trace," he encouraged.
Nikki found Katherine in the waiting room and embraced her. After expressing how worried she had been about Nikki during her absence, Kay asked about Victor's status. Nikki filled her in about the heart donation situation. Katherine wondered why Nikki was fighting for Victor ... "Where in the world is Ashley?" she questioned.
At the mental facility, Ashley's psychological labor intensified and she demanded that Adam deliver her "baby." Adam convinced her to take a sedative to take an edge off the "pain." Ashley reluctantly agreed, and was soon asleep. When she awoke, Adam informed her that she had delivered a healthy baby girl. Ashley was skeptical, noting that the room did not look as though a baby had been delivered there. She demanded to see her baby immediately.
Simultaneously, Sharon's labor continued and she begged to be transported to a regular hospital. Dr. Taylor explained that they were in a lockdown and that nobody could leave. He reassured her that he would create as much of a sterile environment as possible, but lamented that he had nothing to give her for her discomfort. Delirious with pain, Sharon had a vision of a loving Nicholas at her bedside. He encouraged her to deliver baby Faith into her daddy's waiting arms. Sharon obliged, giving one final push. "She's here!" Sharon breathed, and collapsed in exhaustion.
Adam and Dr. Taylor met in the hallway. Adam grabbed Sharon's baby from Taylor, brought her into Ashley's room, and placed her into Ash’s arms. Ashley smiled and cradled her.
Thursday
Sharon hallucinated that Nick was helping her deliver her baby. She soon snapped out of it and realized that she was in a hospital instead of the mental institution. A confused Sharon asked to see her baby, but the nurse wouldn't give her any answers. Sharon screamed for her child.
Meanwhile, Adam was relieved about "dodging a bullet." Dr. Taylor reamed him out for stealing Sharon's baby, but Adam grabbed Taylor by the collar and insisted that it's Ashley's baby. He instructed Dr. Taylor to tell Sharon that her baby died, reminding Taylor that he had information that could put the doc in jail. After, Adam visited Ashley and "her" daughter.
Victor's family visited him in the hospital. Abby joined them, doing her best to be cheerful. Victor asked for Adam, but Victoria and Nick said they hadn't seem him. Nick took Nikki aside and asked if she'd received any word from the Abbotts about whether they'd donate Colleen's heart.
In Colleen's room, the doctor explained to Traci what kind of tests would be done to see if Colleen's heart could go to Victor. Billy was furious that she was allowing this and didn't believe that this is what Colleen would've wanted. He thought Victor getting shot was karma, but Jack urged him to look at the bigger picture. "The bigger picture is, he doesn't deserve to wake up tomorrow," Billy seethed. Traci implored her brothers to stop bickering. After, Jack informed Victor and the Newmans that Traci was having Colleen's heart tested to see if it's a match for Victor. A shocked Abby bolted from the room. Victor started to thank Jack, but Jack told him not to thank him yet. Jack left the room and ran into the doctor, who informed him that Ashley and his new "niece" were in the hospital.
Jack visited Ashley, who proudly introduced him to the baby. She believed it was amazing that in the midst of all the tragedy, her baby was born. Jack informed her that Colleen's heart was being tested to see if it could go to Victor. Ashley was shaken to learn that Victor's prognosis was so grave and wanted to see him immediately.... Victoria and J.T. went to the chapel. "Would you hate me if I prayed for them to be a match?" she asked. J.T. replied that he didn't know how he felt about anything. Billy arrived, but prepared to leave when he saw Victoria. Victoria tried to extend her condolences to Billy, but he didn't believe that she ever cared about Colleen. Victoria pleaded with him not to pick a fight in the chapel and left. J.T. was furious with Billy for upsetting her. Billy begged him to talk to the Newmans and Abbotts and prevent the transplant from happening. J.T. reminded him that Victor is his son's grandfather. Billy didn't care and said that Reed's better off without Victor in his life. Mac arrived and tried to calm Billy down. Billy was determined to prevent the transplant from happening, no matter what.
Victor couldn't believe that the Abbotts were even considering the transplant. Nick and Nikki noted that it said a lot about forgiveness. Victor said he didn't have much hope, but Nikki and Nick stayed positive.
Dr. Taylor went to see Sharon and informed her that there were some complications during delivery. Sharon demanded to see her daughter, but Taylor sadly replied that the baby was malformed and had no chance of survival. Sharon broke down and pleaded with him to let her hold her baby, but he said it wasn't a good idea. "I heard her cry," Sharon insisted, but he explained that she'd been delirious. A devastated Sharon couldn't believe that she'd lost another child. "Don't let her be gone," she cried. Later, Adam instructed Taylor to make sure that no one examined Ashley and discovered that she never delivered a child.... Ashley argued with the doctor and Jack to let her see Victor. Dr. Taylor then arrived and told her that the baby is doing well. After, Jack again assured Ashley that she didn't cause Victor's condition or kill Nikki. Ashley was relieved when she realized that Nikki was indeed alive. Abby then arrived and met her new sister. Ashley apologized for not being the kind of mother she deserved for the past few months, but promised that things would get better.
Victoria and Nick saw Adam in the hospital hallway and told him about Victor needing a transplant. Nick was angry with Adam for not being there earlier. They began punching each other, but J.T. broke it up. Nick asked Adam to leave, but as he left, Adam (whose eyesight was failing) tripped and fell.
He warned Nick that it wasn't over between them. Later, Nick got a call that Sharon was transferred to a particular hospital.
J.T. stopped by Colleen's room and asked Traci if he could sit with Colleen. Traci was grateful to have him there.... Billy made some calls in his effort to stop the transplant. Mac begged him not to do this and hung up his cell phone. Billy didn't know how he's going to live with Colleen's heart
beating in Victor's body. He again blamed himself for not being with Colleen when she went up to the cabin. "I just need to make this right," he explained. "I'll listen to everything Jack says for the rest of my life," he promised. Mac urged him to start listening to Jack right away. Later, Jack was about to tell his family about Ashley's baby, but the doctor interrupted them and revealed that Victor and Colleen are a match.
Nikki sat with Victor and took his hand. She recalled how he'd asked her to marry her after she'd been shot and gave her a makeover while she was in her hospital bed. "You're still the heart and soul of our family," he told her. "I've felt no greater love than what I've felt for you." Ashley came by his room just at that moment and overheard.
Adam told Dr. Taylor that he's off the hook and can leave town. "You are without a doubt that most cold-hearted snake I ever met," Taylor said, noting how devastated Sharon is.... Nick went to see Sharon and found her lying in bed, numb. "The baby, did something happen?" he asked. "She didn't make it," she choked out. "Our little girl didn't make it."
Friday
At the hospital, Sharon sadly informed Nick that their baby had serious defects and didn't make it. Nick felt guilty for not having been with her, but she replied that there was nothing he could've done. They recalled having lost another baby eight years before. Nick broke down and wanted to see the infant. Sharon replied that she already had her cremated. "I hope she looked like you," he said quietly. Sharon wanted to scatter their daughter's ashes in a specific spot, and asked Nick to be with her. Later, Nick informed Sharon about Victor and Colleen. Sharon urged him to be with his family and put aside any thoughts about what might have been. When Sharon was by herself, she fell apart.
Ashley stopped by Colleen's room and told her family that she had her baby. Traci was happy for her sister. Ashley said that she's been feeling more like her old self now that she's had the baby, but broke down over the prospect of losing Colleen. Traci told her that Colleen's heart is compatible with Victor's, but she's still thinking about whether she wants to authorize the transplant. "I just want to do what Colleen would've wanted," she explained. Billy was still livid that Traci was even thinking about this. "How could you even consider saving the guy who killed your daughter?" he asked, making Traci dissolve into sobs. She got it together and reminded him that Victor is Ashley's husband and the father of Abby and their new baby niece.
Abby visited her father and told Victor that Traci is considering the transplant. Victor weakly replied that whatever she decides is fine with him. Nikki was optimistic that Traci would come through, but Victor urged his family not to pressure the Abbotts during this time. Abby then told Victoria and Nikki that Ashley had her baby, while Adam shared the news with Victor and showed him a photo of the infant he'd taken with his cell phone.... When Abby stepped away, Victoria wondered to Nikki where Ashley was. Nikki shared that Victor had told her that he loves her. They were
interrupted when Phyllis arrived, having come home from Switzerland. Victoria filled in Phyllis on Victor's situation and was angry when Phyllis admitted that she didn't know if she'd be as generous as Traci. After, Nikki informed Phyllis that Nick went to see Sharon at the hospital. Phyllis didn't understand why Sharon called Nick instead of Jack, still believing that Jack was the father.... Adam told Victor that he's not going to let his father die like his mom did. He promised to be a good son. Victor told him that he already is a good person. "I'm glad you're my son," he said. "So am I, Dad," Adam said softly.
Ashley showed the baby to Traci, but felt guilty for being happy about her child. Traci told her not to feel bad, explaining that the baby represented hope for her. However, she broke down over losing Colleen.... Victoria eavesdropped as Abby and J.T. talked. Abby wished she could get Colleen
back, but didn't want to lose Victor. She didn't believe that her father ever meant to hurt Colleen.... Jack had a talk with Billy about the transplant. He implored Billy to let Traci make the decision and respect it.... Traci went to the chapel to pray about her choice. She cried as she thought about Victor bringing Patty to town. "Colleen, what should I do?" she asked aloud. "Should I give your beautiful heart to Victor or to someone who is so much more deserving?" Later, she asked Jack to give Victor her decision on her behalf.... Ashley informed Adam that she's naming her daughter Faith instead of Hope.
Phyllis found an upset Nick in the chapel and took him in her arms.... Traci sat with Colleen and said that she hoped she'd made the decision that Colleen would've wanted..... The Newmans anxiously waited to hear from Traci. Billy came by and started in with them, but Abby stopped him. Jack then went to see Victor and told him that Traci has made her decision.
