Young and Restless Recaps
Y&R Week of Sept. 13, 2010
Monday
Nina was horrified and devastated when Chance was shot dead in the alley and angrily slapped Ronan. While she cried over his body, Paul held her and Sid arrested Ronan for Chance's murder. Owen told a furious Ronan that he was going to jail.... Chloe blamed Heather for Chance's death.... An incredulous Nina asked Ronan if it is true that he is her son and he confirmed it. Ronan insisted that he had no choice and had to shoot Chance. Nina was even more upset when she learned that Christine knew of his identity but kept it a secret for the sake of Ronan's investigation.
Billy and Victoria were married before she was led away in handcuffs. Everyone stood around awkwardly while Billy asked Vance to accompany him to the station. A peeved Nikki left to deal with Victor....Victor made a call asking the cops to be "respectful" to his daughter.... The rest of the guests returned to Billy and Victoria's new home and Kay asked Jill if she was responsible for getting Victoria arrested. Jill denied it. Phyllis wasn't surprised that Victor made this move. After, Nick threatened to take Summer away from Phyllis if she continues to keep company with Deacon, which didn't sit well with her. After seeing what Victor is capable of, Abby worried to Daniel how her dad will react to her lawsuit. Gloria tried to cheer everyone up by suggesting that they toast the newlyweds. Everyone kind of shook their heads in disbelief and left.
Jack, Michael, Phyllis, Ashley, Daniel and Abby went to Gloworm. Jack pointed out to Ashley that Victor having Victoria arrested indicates something illegal happened in Japan — which means he may want to "wash his hands" of Beauty of Nature as quickly as possible.
"You selfish, pigheaded bastard! How could you do this to your daughter?!" Nikki angrily confronted Victor at the Newman Ranch, but he defended his attempt to stop Victoria from marrying Billy and assured that the charges won't stick against Victoria. Nikki warned that no one in the family will ever trust him again.
At the jail, Billy and Nick comforted Victoria, who didn't want to believe that her own father was behind her arrest. Chloe arrived at the station crying and informed Billy of Chance's death.... Vance pointed out that only Victoria was named in the warrant and not Newman Enterprises. Billy wanted to post bail right away but Vance said his bride would have to spend the night in jail. The newlyweds were heartened by the fact that at least they'd been able to get hitched.
At the station, Heather raged at Ronan for killing Chance. Ronan claimed self defense. Owen promised to prosecute Ronan and considered rehiring Heather to assist with the case. Chloe visited Ronan and noted how she has to try and explain Chance's death to Delia. Ronan hoped that one day she'll be able to forgive him, but Chloe told him to burn in hell.
Nina and Paul returned to the Chancellor estate, where he sadly informed Phillip, Jill and Kay that Chance was killed. After revealing that Ronan is Nina's firstborn, Paul explained how Nina feels that Ronan intentionally killed Chance as part of a grudge. Kay and Jill struggled to keep it together. A shattered Nina went upstairs where Phillip tried to console her. "I can't do this," she cried. Phillip promised to help her through it. Nina revealed how Christine knew of Ronan's identity. Chris arrived but Nina wouldn't see her. Jill railed at Chris for protecting Ronan, which led to Chance's death. Murphy feared for Kay's health and went to call her doctor. Outside, Christine defended her actions to Paul, but even he couldn't understand her motives.
Michael told Phyllis he was worried about her but she assured that blogging and hanging out with Deacon was her way of "blowing off steam."... Billy showed up at the ranch and told Victor that he is only hurting his daughter. Victor countered that if Delia wanted to marry someone like Billy, her father wouldn't stand by and let it happen. Nikki defended Billy noting that she, too, has an addictive personality, but Victor warned that he's going to come after Billy anytime he wants.... Victoria sat in her jail cell and cried.... Upon hearing about Chance's murder, Nick told Phyllis her didn't want to fight with her, just make sure that Summer knows he loves her. "That works for me," said a softened Phyllis.
Owen worried that Ronan could still cause trouble but Sid said no one will believe a cop killer.... Chloe and Heather sat and cried together.... Nina finally faced Chris, who explained that Ronan wanted to keep his identity under wraps to protect many lives from the drug ring. Nina announced that she now hates Ronan. Christine was hit by a wave of guilt as she later eyed Phillip embracing a distraught Nina through the Chancellor Estate window.
Tuesday
As the news of Chase's death sunk in at the Chancellor estate, Jill called Cane with the terrible news and he quickly came over. A doctor ordered a dizzy Katherine to get bed rest. Upstairs, Paul consoled a grieving Nina, who wanted to spend time with her dead son. Phillip showed up to announce that a representative from the military was here to see Nina. Phillip went back downstairs where Cane assured his devastated friend that Chance loved his dad. Cane shared that he had to go to Australia soon on business for Tucker but Phillip warned that Lily and the kids will be in danger if left alone. Nina came downstairs and was greeted by Sergeant Goldman, who served with Chance in Iraq and offered his condolences.
In light of Victoria's arrest, a paranoid Abby fretted to Jack over how Victor is going to react to her lawsuit and considered dropping it. "Sit tight," Jack advised his niece. "Let Vance Abrams work his magic." Abby calmed down and said she would still go through with the legal action. "Game on," she declared. Meanwhile, Victor put in the order to have Abby's trust dissolved "by the end of the day."
Victoria was bailed out of jail and, while Billy headed over to be with his mother, she charged over to the ranch and confronted Victor for turning her in to the Department of Justice. He offered to make the charges "go away" if Victoria ends her marriage. She refused to give up the man she loves and told Victor he is no longer welcome in her life.
Owen and several police officers showed up at the Chancellor mansion with a warrant to search the premises for any evidence that could tie Chance to the drug ring. Nina was disgusted so Jill, Billy, Cane and Esther kept a close watch on the cops as they searched. Christine showed up to offer her assistance because she didn't trust the G.C.P.D. and was happy to see Phillip in person. She told him how Chance was proud of his dad for coming back to face his family. Phillip still berated himself for abandoning his son as a baby so Chris blamed herself for Chance's death by keeping Ronan's true identity a secret. "I know what a burden secrets can be," Phillip concurred.
Jill apologized to Billy for her behavior at his wedding. "I am very happy for you and Victoria," Mom noted.... As Nina pondered whether to have Chance buried in Arlington or Genoa City, she lamented to Paul, "The very day that I find the son that I lost, I lose the son I love."... Cane contacted Sofia about delaying his trip to Australia for a few months. Lily asked if Cane was still in danger but he lied that everything was okay.... Jill told Victor that she would do anything to have Chance back and urged Vic not to risk losing Victoria's love. After Jill left, Victor made a phone call. "It
is I who bribed that Japanese official, not my daughter," he announced. Meanwhile, Victoria and Billy had rings tattooed on their wedding fingers.... Heather told Nina, Phillip and Paul that she has been re-instated in her job and requested to help prosecute Ronan. "I hope Ronan goes to jail for the rest of his life," Nina seethed.... Just as Victor found out that Abby's trust can't be dismantled due to the injunction filed by Vance, she told Jack she wanted out of the lawsuit.... Billy carried Victoria over the threshold of their home.... Someone watched the Ashby home.... Chris visited Ronan in jail and informed him how much his mother is grieving Chance's death. "How the hell are you going to live with that?" she angrily posed.
Wednesday
At her and Billy's place, Victoria nervously asked how she looked, noting that it would be the first time her husband's family has seen her since the wedding — and that her parents might also be at Chance's wake. Just then, Victoria got a call from Vance with news about her dad.
At the Newman Ranch, Victor tried to kiss Nikki, but she pulled away. He informed her that he made a call telling the authorities that Victoria didn't bribe the Japanese official. Nikki noted that if he was trying to teach their daughter a lesson, all she'd learned was to not trust her father. After, Meggie offered Nikki some iced tea and Nikki gulped a portion of it down. Victor then told Nikki that Vance had Abby's trust fund frozen and concluded that Jack was behind it. Nikki left with Victor for the wake and Meggie was disappointed to see that she hadn't finished her spiked drink. Later, Meggie smiled as she put out a bunch of little bottles of booze.
At Crimson Lights, Abby worried to Jack about how her father would react to her lawsuit. Jack urged her to fight for what she deserves, but she thought she'd do better "kissing up" to Victor.
Tucker, Sofia and Neil met at Gloworm to discuss Sofia's proposal. She was annoyed that Neil had "dumped all over it." Neil explained his issues with her report and they argued. She accused Neil of punishing her because she's engaged to Malcolm. Mal arrived and wondered what was going on. Sofia tattled to Malcolm that Neil kept shooting down her suggestions; Neil suggested that she get better ideas. Tucker intervened and stated that they're both valuable employees and implored them to get along. He then instructed them to work together on a project in Miami. Mal demanded that Neil treat his fiance better, but Sofia wanted to handle things in her own way. Malcolm agreed to back off. Later, Sofia appealed to Neil to get along; he agreed to give her a chance. "Maybe we'll end up being friends," he smiled. "I'm not gonna hold my breath on that one," she cracked.
At Kevin's, a mopey Chloe was holed up on the couch. Kevin came home and insisted that she get out or at least have a healthy breakfast. She reminded him that she's depressed over Chance's death. Kevin didn't care and threatened to throw her into the shower. "I can't believe he's really gone," she said and Kevin held her.... At the Chancellor Estate, Jill approached Nina and asked if they could talk. Jill stated that Nina had raised an extraordinary son in Chance and the women embraced. "Thank you," Nina whispered.
Esther, Kay, Murphy, Billy, Victoria, Delia, Nina and Jill gathered at the Chancellor Estate for Chance's memorial. Nina was happy to hear about Victoria's pregnancy and noted that good things happen, even in the worst of times. Kevin brought a reluctant Chloe to the estate, but Chloe didn't think Nina would want her there. Chloe grabbed a crying Delia from Victoria and angrily took the little girl away. After, Chloe explained that she didn't want Victoria playing stepmom. Billy reminded her that Victoria is Delia's stepmom, but Victoria graciously agreed to hold back. Kevin led Chloe to a private corner and encouraged her to ease up, but she sadly replied that nothing seemed like it was going to be okay. They returned to the living room and everyone discussed the funeral; Esther explained that he was getting a military service. Everyone then shared stories about what a good guy Chance had been and Nina recalled some stories about his childhood as "Little Phillip." Billy became uncomfortable when Jill admitted that she'd hated being called "Grandma." Victoria followed him into the dining room and he explained that he doesn't deal with grief very well. Just then the doorbell rang and Billy answered it: it was the Newmans.
Victor and Nikki basically ignored Billy and gave their condolences to the family. Victoria approached her father and he asked if she heard what he did for her. She shrugged and said that she can't forgive him for ruining her wedding day. Abby arrived and told her father that she's dropping her suit because she wants them to have a good relationship. Victor was pleased and agreed to meet her halfway with her trust fund. Jack overheard and was not pleased.... Tucker joined them and comforted Kay.... Nikki encouraged Victoria to make amends with Victor, but she refused. Esther came around with glasses of wine, which Nikki eyed longingly.... Jack informed Tucker that they "lost" Abby. Tucker reminded Jack that he'd promised to get Beauty of Nature for Jabot. McCall then approached Victor and taunted him about the bribery case; Victor wasn't fazed.... Nina thanked Chloe for giving Chance an opportunity to experience a serious relationship. Chloe was touched, but figured that Nina would hate her again in time.... Nikki and Kay chatted about Victor and Victoria. Kay was certain that they'd make up eventually. Nikki quickly apologized for going on about her life when Kay was grieving. She then watched Billy and Victoria drinking their wine; Kay noticed and asked if she was thinking about having a drink, but Nikki denied it. Later, Victor told Kay what a great man Chance had been. Murphy interrupted and asked if he could get an under the weather Kay to relax. Victor noted that he and Kay both like being in control, but warned her to be cautious of Tucker.
Nikki confronted Abby and stated that she hoped that the young woman wasn't taking advantage of Victor. Tucker joined Abby and she complained about her parents giving her a hard time. Tucker shrugged that his did, too, but he hadn't listened to them — and went to Europe instead of attending college. Abby was intrigued by his tales of being a risk taker. He encouraged her not to give up her fight for her money.
Kevin and Esther urged Chloe to eat. When Esther suggested that her daughter move back to the Chancellor home, Chloe snapped and stormed out.... Jill scoffed about Jack being at Jabot again and warned him not to get too invested in the company. Victor then accused Jack of using Abby to get to him, but Jack denied it. Victor warned him to watch his step. Nikki interrupted and asked if they could go home.... Tucker congratulated Billy and Victoria on their marriage and apologized for the bride having to spend the night in jail. He then offered Vicky a job.
Jill pulled Nina to the center of the living room with her and they made a speech thanking everyone for being there. Jill then had the guests raise a toast to Chance and urged everyone to spend time with their loved ones. Kay suddenly suffered a dizzy spell.
Kevin took Chloe home and tried to get her to be angry about Chance's death so she could properly grieve. "If you don't, you're gonna explode," he pushed. "Go to hell," Chloe replied.
Nikki and Victor returned to the ranch. Nikki believed that Abby was playing him, but he didn't want to discuss it. When he stepped away, Nikki made her way over to the bar and poured herself a drink. Meggie watched from the adjacent room as Nikki poured the alcohol back into its bottle. Meggie then joined her and offered her some iced tea, not sharing that it was "Long Island" style.
Thursday
At Kevin's place, he and Chloe dressed for Chance's funeral. Kevin was surprised to see Chloe looking so together, but she just wanted to make it through the day.
At the Chancellor Estate, Brock arrived and greeted Jill, Katherine and Esther. Murphy and Esther told Brock about Kay's dizzy spell and he implored his mother to take it easy. Paul and Heather joined them and Heather informed them that Owen is going to make sure that Ronan is put away. Phillip couldn't believe that Ronan is Nina's son. Kay was grateful when Tucker arrived... Upstairs in Chance's room, Nina held a necklace with a cross on it and eyed a photo of herself with Chance. She flashbacked to when her son was born, then hugged a pillow to her chest and quietly cried. Paul came to see her and she broke down. "I don't think I can do this," she said. Paul helped her put on the necklace and she shared that it had been a gift from Chance. She asked Paul why he hadn't told her about Ronan; he explained that he didn't know that Ronan was her son. Nina still wished that he'd told her that Ronan worked for the FBI and didn't understand how Ronan could've shot his brother. After, Nina went downstairs and Sergeant Goldman arrived to take the family to the church. Phillip asked Nina if she was ready. "I'll never be ready for this," she sobbed.
Victoria and Billy went to Crimson Lights on their way to the funeral. They discussed Victoria being pregnant; just then, J.T and Mac entered and overheard. Victoria shared that Victor had the charges against her dropped, but J.T didn't believe that she'd be free of her father... At the Newman Ranch, Victor complained to Michael and Nikki that Victoria wasn't grateful to him for helping her out.
Jack, Abby and Ashley discussed Abby dropping her lawsuit. Ashley was glad that her daughter wanted to make amends with her dad. Neil arrived and they wondered how Nina could deal with this. Meanwhile, Owen, Sid and their gang toasted Chance's demise.
Christine visited Ronan in jail and lamented how she'd betrayed Nina's trust. She then flashed back to when Chance was first born and when she'd gotten to hold her friend's baby.
Everyone went to the church for the funeral. There, Kay and Murphy greeted Kay and Victor, while Mac and J.T said hello to Brock. Brock credited J.T for making Mac so happy.... Ashley told Nina that she's there if Nina ever needs to talk..... Michael warmly greeted Jill and Cane and told Jill that Lauren sent her condolences. Jill was annoyed that Lauren wasn't there in person, but Michael reminded her that Lauren was out of the country.... Chloe and Kevin arrived and Chloe reamed out Heather for being there. Paul intervened and said that this wasn't the time to argue. Heather snapped and said that she had a right to be there. Kay prevented a full-on fight from breaking out.... Brock then called for everyone to enter the chapel and the mass began. Chance's coffin, which had an American flag draped over it, was wheeled down the aisle by military men. Nina and Phillip, then Billy, Jill, Kay and Murphy followed. Nina was appalled when Pomerantz showed up. Brock began his eulogy, naming all of Chance's family members. Phillip then gave a short speech, as he recalled his son being born: "I don't know if I deserve to be called his father. But I was very proud of my son," he stated. Next, Jill spoke: "He got the best of all of us. You know, he got his mother's devotion and her strength, and he got his father's warmth and his good looks. He got Katherine's zest for life, and, Esther, he got your loyalty. And from Brock, he got your generosity and your forthrightness. And from me... he got my determination. Okay, fine, my stubbornness. The whole was definitely larger than the sum of its parts." "Grief is the price that we do pay for love ... And I think it's worth it," Kay said in her speech. After, the flag was folded, gunshots were fired and "Taps" was played in Chance's honor. Everyone then placed a rose on the coffin. Later, Christine arrived with Ronan and Nina flipped out.
After the funeral, everyone returned to the Chancellor Estate, where Esther set out food. She, Tucker and Neil discussed how fragile Kay seemed. Tucker offered to talk to his mother.... Victor told Abby that he's proud of her for dropping her suit.... Nikki urged Victoria to acknowledge Victor for helping her out, but Victoria refused. Jack overheard and guessed what was bugging Victoria. He wondered if she was going to accept Tucker's job offer, but she hadn't decided yet. After, she and J.T shared an awkward run-in as they discussed Reed. Victor tried to talk to his daughter, but she gave him the cold shoulder.... Tucker comforted Ashley as she thought about Colleen. Abby became annoyed when Ashley reminded her to say good-bye to Kay and reminded her mom that she's not 10.... Later, Tucker asked how Kay was holding up and she became irritated. She insisted that she was fine, but Tucker didn't believe her. She demanded that everyone stop hovering over her and he apologized. Katherine then fainted.
Friday
At the chapel, Christine wanted to talk to Nina, but Nina angrily refused and couldn't believe that Chris got Ronan released from prison. Christine defended Ronan, noting that he shot Chance in self-defense. Paul implored her to leave them alone. Nina was furious that Christine put her case ahead of Chance and wouldn't let them mourn Chance in private. After, Kevin demanded that Ronan leave with Sid and Owen, who were under arrest, but Ronan asked that they hear him out. "I'm not here to insult Chance's memory," Ronan insisted. "This is what he wanted." He vowed to clear Chance's name and let people know that Chance had been a hero, but Chloe and Heather weren't placated. "I did my best to protect him," Ronan insisted. "And you failed," Heather finished. After, Heather said that people would know that Chance died fighting a good fight, but Chloe angrily stated that they shouldn't glorify his death.... Nina and Phillip continued to plead with Chris to leave, but Chris begged to explain. "My son is dead; explain that to me," Nina yelled. Christine implored Paul to get her to listen.
Katherine awoke in the hospital to find Nikki and Murphy hovering over her. She insisted that she's fine and Murphy considered that to be a good sign. "What happened?" she asked Nikki. Nikki explained that she'd fainted, but the doctors weren't sure why. She urged Kay to rest and reminded her pal how many people need her. Kay drifted in and out of sleep while Nikki held her hand. She asked Nikki how the wedding plans were going and Nikki admitted that she feels like putting it off until Victor and Victoria make up. Kay requested that Nikki keep talking and Nikki wondered what she'd do without her friend. She confessed to Kay that she poured herself a drink, but didn't actually go through with it. "I need your advice. I need my sponsor, I need my best friend," Nikki said.... Meanwhile, Murphy spoke with the doctor, who promised to get him answers as soon as possible. Tucker arrived to see how Kay was doing and Murphy asked what Tucker and Kay had been discussing when she collapsed. Tucker asked if Murphy blamed him. Jill and Brock soon followed and Murphy told Tucker to stay put while they went to check on Kay. Jill, Brock, Murphy and the doctor joined Nikki and the doc explained that it was too soon to determine what was wrong with her, but they'd be doing tests. "This can't be happening," Jill sighed. Brock urged her not to panic and Jill became annoyed. Kay asked them to stop arguing, then wondered why Jill wasn't at the house taking care of Nina and Phillip. "What is going on?" she demanded to know. They filled her in and Kay asked Nikki to get her cards so she and Murphy could play a round of gin. Brock and Murphy went into the hallway and saw Tucker there. Brock offered to talk to his half brother. Murphy returned to Kay and she insisted that they discuss what will happen if the news about her health isn't good. He didn't want to hear it, but Kay stated that they had to have the conversation. She reminded him that she has a living will stating that she doesn't want to be kept alive by artificial means. Murphy replied that if the situation were reversed, he'd want to be kept alive, no matter what. "There's always hope," he argued, but Kay hated the idea of being confined to a hospital bed, unable to move or communicate. "It seems like a living hell," she said. "I want to LIVE until I die." She asked if he could respect her decision and he tearfully replied that he didn't know if he could pull the plug. "I will always be with you one way or the other," she promised. Later, the doctor returned to take her for tests. Jill, Nikki and Murphy sadly watched as she was wheeled out of the room. Jill told Nikki that Nikki had no reason to stay because she would stress Kay out; Nikki retorted that Jill stressed her out the most. Nikki snapped that it was Jill's grandson who'd died, then quickly apologized for saying such an insensitive thing.... Brock told Tucker that being with Kay would make her upset. Tucker replied that he and Kay have made amends, but Brock didn't want their family to gamble with her health. "I'm a part of that family, whether you like it or not," Tucker reminded him.
At the prison, Heather confronted Owen about ordering the hit on Chance. Pomerantz insisted that Ronan was lying, but Heather was certain that Owen was guilty. He kept stating that he wasn't running a drug ring and didn't order Chance's death. Heather vowed to make sure that he served hard time in jail. After she stormed out, she clutched her stomach.... Kevin and Chloe went home and discussed Pomerantz being a "low life." Chloe noted that Chance had had his doubts about Sid and Owen. Kevin believed that Ronan really had been on Chance's side. Chloe wasn't sure what to think of Ronan. "He killed Chance and every time I look at him, that's all I'm gonna see," she sighed... Ronan told Christine that he planned to get hammered and she replied that this was closest she'd seen him have an emotion. He hoped that Nina would give them a chance.... Paul promised to support Nina whether she decided to speak with Christine or not, but encouraged her to do so. Nina gave in and agreed to give Chris a few minutes.... Heather lamented not being able to trust the right people, but Paul reminded her that she'd trusted Chance and had just been doing her job. Later, Heather was promoted to interim D.A. Paul beamed with pride and agreed to help her take down Pomerantz.
Nikki returned home to the Newman Ranch and poured herself a drink — and this time, she gulped it all down.... At the hospital, the doctor informed Kay and her family that she was merely exhausted and dehydrated, and just needed rest. Everyone was relieved. Tucker sadly peered into her hospital room and watched the family celebrating.
Chloe called Delia and put Kevin on the line, but she began to cry. Chloe became upset as she realized that Delia wanted Chance.
Later, an agent drove Phillip and Nina out to the middle of nowhere and Nina became nervous. Christine soon joined them and Nina became fed up when Ronan showed up. "You will never be family," Nina seethed. An alive Chance then stepped out of the shadows! A shocked and thrilled Nina and Phillip embraced him. "I should be furious, but I'm too happy!" Nina cried. She was ready to bring him home, but he explained that he was going into the Witness Protection Program and that his death had been faked. "This may be the last time we ever see each other," he informed his parents.
