Young and Restless Recaps

Y&R Week of November 10, 2008

Monday

Katherine and Marge were in a serious car crash. One woman survived.

Jill, Nikki and Esther couldn't believe that Katherine had fallen off the wagon and none of them had picked up on it. Jill said that the alcohol probably explained Katherine's recent confused behavior. Nikki reminded them that they need to find Kay ASAP. She called Amber hoping to find Kay with her, but she wasn't. Amber told Nikki that she had called Kay's phone and a man answered. "She's gone," he had said. Jill assumed it was the bartender. Jill and Nikki headed out to find Katherine. Esther prayed for Katherine's safe return.

Amber and Daniel tried to figure out Kevin's strange behavior. Daniel told Amber to stop fixating on the money. Kevin returned and tried to explain that his bad mood was because "I have stuff going on." He refused to discuss his non-meeting with Katherine. "I don't wanna talk about it," he said. Kevin was surprised to get a call from Nikki who was looking for Katherine. Kevin explained that he had gone to the house but she wasn't there. He lied when Nikki asked him why he was meeting with Kay. "Computer stuff," he covered. Kevin apologized to his friends for being crabby. Amber demanded that Daniel help her find Mrs. C.

In Paris, Phyllis left a message for Nick, then got to work on the cover shoot. Juliette loved the dress and wanted to meet Nick, but Phyllis hadn't been able to locate him. The shoot wrapped up and Phyllis said she'd walk around town before returning to the hotel.

Meanwhile, Sharon and Nick enjoyed their afternoon in Paris. Nick was surprised to learn that Sharon had never been there. He decided to show her the town. After some hesitation, Sharon happily agreed. Sharon teased Nick and asked him not to make fun of the "little hick girl." She was pleased with herself for remembering some French she learned in school. Nick surprised her with the news that Ashley was now helping to look for Victor. Sharon wanted to help Nick find his father, as well.

Ashley spotted Victor outside the cathedral. Victor asked her if she was on a rescue mission. Ashley made it clear that she doesn't think Victor is capable of murder and added that Nikki had just been trying to help him. Victor walked away and Ashley followed him. He fell (practically fainted) in her arms. Ashley brought him to a café for something to eat. Victor made it clear that he blames Nikki for "all this." He insisted to Ash that "no one must know that you saw me." Soon, Victor left the café. Ashley followed him again, saying that she'd be sad if she could never take a walk with him again. "Why do you care if I live or die? Why do you care?" Victor asked. "You're a fool," responded Ashley. Victor fell into Ashley's arms again and the two began to kiss passionately.

Noah and Eden enjoyed Paris and headed to the famous French cemetery. Eden said that her father had been a big Jim Morrison fan. Noah wanted to meet him but Eden said that wouldn't be possible. "He's in jail," she admitted.

Tuesday

Nick and Sharon enjoyed a picture-perfect day in Paris, which included seeing the Mona Lisa and ended with a kiss near the Eiffel Tower. Sharon pulled away first. "We can't," she sighed. "I know, but it feels so right," Nick insisted. Both agreed they still feel the same way about each other. "I can't be the other woman," Sharon said, reminding him of how he chose "Phyllis over our marriage." Sharon left Nick thinking on the bridge.

Cane, Chloe and Esther were at the Chancellor mansion doing all they could to find Katherine. Amber and Daniel arrived and they learned that Katherine had started drinking again. Esther read the fax that arrived for Katherine confirming her place at a rehab center. No one could believe it.

Nikki and Jill were horrified to find Katherine (or Marge?) dead in the car. They immediately notified family members, who were all devastated. Nikki and Jill wept by the body.

After a day of unsuccessfully trying to call Nick on his cell phone (he could only make outgoing calls it seems), Phyllis spotted him — kissing Sharon on a bridge. Stunned, she immediately ran off. Phyllis packed a suitcase and made sure she destroyed the note she had left for Nick. She ran out of the hotel room.

Meanwhile, Noah and Eden visited Jim Morrison's grave. The two shared stories about their fathers' stints in prison. "My dad's a great guy," Eden said.
"So he's innocent too, like my dad was," Noah said, trying to cheer up his friend. Noah talked a little about how much he misses Cassie. Eden was surprised to learn that Noah's parents were divorced. "They are still close," he added. The teens kissed. Their nice conversation was interrupted by some French thugs who harassed them and tried to steal Eden's necklace, which her mother had given her. Noah began fighting with one of them. They ran off and Noah told Eden to run too. Noah was arrested for the scuffle.

Victor and Ashley returned to her hotel room and made love. Afterwards, Victor told her that she "makes him feel alive again." Ashley added, "When I'm in your arms, there is no place I'd rather be." The two began kissing again.

Wednesday

Nick wandered around the hotel lobby, thinking about the kiss he'd shared with Sharon. Soon, Sharon entered the lobby and immediately got a call from Jack. "This isn't a good time," Sharon said, rushing him off the phone. Nick left the lobby. Jack was surprised to learn that Nick was in Paris as well. Sharon hung up with her husband and met up with Nick. Great awkwardness ensued. Sharon suggested that they "just leave it alone." "Yeah, cool," Nick agreed. Sharon and Nick then met with Noah's tour company leader, who informed them that Noah had left the group. "He's not with you?" the guide asked. Sharon and Nick began to panic and grew angry at the tour organizer. He offered to find them a supervisor.
Nick threatened to sue "someone's ass." Nick assured Sharon that everything would be alright. Nick learned that Noah was in jail. At the police station, Nick and Sharon learned that tourists are often prey for attacks. Eden showed up and ran into Noah's arms. Noah introduced her to his wary parents. Nick wanted to fly back to Genoa City with Noah and Sharon. "He needs to come first right now," Nick said. Eden refused to tell Sharon and Nick anything about her parents. "You must have a legal guardian," Nick reasoned. "Michael Baldwin," Eden spat. Nick called Michael and Lauren and brought them up to speed on the trouble that Noah and Eden had gotten into. Nick asked if it was okay if they supervised Eden. "Put the little angel on the phone," Michael cracked. Michael made it clear to Eden that he was far from pleased. When he realized she was crying, he added that he was glad that she was safe. Eden wept in Noah's arms.

Jack threw his phone across the room, enraged that Nick was with Sharon in Paris. GhostJohn tried to calm him down and encouraged him to fight for Sharon. Jack got a call from Billy with word of Katherine's death. He was clearly stunned at the news and poured himself a drink. GhostJohn talked to his son. "You are at an age now where this is going to happen more and more," John noted. Jack called Sharon in Paris with word of Katherine's death. She told Noah and Nick the sad news. Jack called Phyllis with the news as well. Phyllis called Michael and Lauren with the news and everyone was devastated.

Jill and Esther wept over Katherine's death as an equally teary Nikki relayed the news to Victoria. Cane tried to comfort his mother. Nikki told Victoria what it was like to find Katherine. She assumed that Kay had been driving drunk. "Why wasn't she one of the lucky ones?" Nikki sobbed. Nikki blamed herself for not knowing that Katherine was drinking again. "You can't take this burden on, too," Victoria told her mother.

Cane thanked Chloe for being so kind to "both our mothers." Cane shared that his childhood dream of having a family came true when he arrived in Genoa City. "And now she's gone just like that," Cane said of Kay. Lily and Billy walked into the Chancellor living room to catch Chloe comforting Cane. Billy ran in and fell apart. Jill blamed herself for Katherine's renewed drinking. "Things got so ugly at the end," Jill said, wiping the tears from her face. Jill admitted that she did love her mother. Chloe apologized for making Esther feel bad that she was a maid. Esther cried and hugged her daughter. Lily wished there was something she could do to help Cane feel better. Esther told the group about the duel between Mr. Thurston and Col. Austin over Katherine's affections. "There was a part of her that really loved the attention," Esther recalled.

Michael refused to comment on the Newman diary and said they would be filing a lawsuit against Sophisticate magazine demanding proof that the diary was authentic. Lauren asked Michael how much he really knew about it. Michael admitted that he knew it exists and that it apparently was in Victor's handwriting.

Ashley woke up next to Victor and suggested they go for a walk. Victor asked her to stay with him in Paris. Ashley showed him a newspaper article which claimed that Victor admitted he'd committed murder in his recently published diaries. "This is outrageous," Victor scoffed. Ashley told Victor he "needs to go home and clear it up." Victor stated that he didn't write a journal. "I don't ever want to set foot in that town again," he said.

Thursday

Jack paid his respects at the Chancellor mansion. Phyllis also dropped by with food. Jack cornered Phyllis and asked her if she knew that Nick and Sharon were in Paris. Yes, she had. Later, Jack was waiting for Phyllis in her living room and demanded that she tell him everything she knows about Nick and Sharon's Parisian adventure. "Don't bring this trash to my house," Phyllis scolded, showing Jack the door. A furious Phyllis threw an object against the wall and began tearing apart the house. "No, No, No," she screamed. Nick arrived at home and Phyllis — clad in a black slip — greeted him with a passionate kiss.

Earlier, Sharon, Nick and Noah arrived at home. Noah stormed off. Sharon gave Nick a hug and thanked him for showing her around Paris. After Nick left, Jack came home and had a big hug for Sharon, who appeared distant and not wanting to talk. Jack's sad eyes followed her as she went upstairs to unpack.

Jack's cell phone rang. It was Adam. He had just seen Frank Ellis in the courthouse. "This could be bad news for us," Adam said, demanding a meeting at Crimson Lights in 15 minutes. Jack found out that Frank's arrest had nothing to do with their troubles. Phew. Adam told Jack that Sharon is suspicious of the diary situation. In other news, Adam shared news of his engagement with Jack. "I can trust Heather. Just make sure you can trust your wife," Adam told Jack sternly.

Jill rejected Nikki's help with planning the funeral. Nikki ordered the flowers anyway, and again Jill rejected Nikki's offers to help. The funeral director opened Katherine's coffin. Nikki and Jill started to cry. "She doesn't look like herself," Jill wept. Jill apologized to Katherine about her behavior over the past few months. "I'm so sorry that I wasn't the kind of daughter you could come to," she wept as she kissed her mother goodbye. Nikki also said goodbye. "What am I going to do without you?" she sobbed. Nikki admitted that Victor was right when he accused Nikki of having caused so "much pain for so many people."

Back in Paris, Victor suggested Ashley and Abby live with him. Ashley explained that she couldn't leave London. "Abby is in school there," she said. Victor refused to go back to Genoa City. Ashley asked him to return to GC with her for Katherine's funeral, but if he couldn't, then "au revoir." Victor replied with, "My beautiful Ashley..." and walked away. Moments later, however, he showed up at Ashley's hotel room door.

Karen tried to get Neil to open up about Katherine's death. "You'll never find a more generous human being than Katherine. It's not fair," he lamented. Neil asked Karen to reconsider his wedding proposal. "Life is too short," he argued. Neil and Karen had different opinions on Tyra's new beau Joe. Neil was against, Karen was supportive. Karen was suspicious of Neil's concerns for Tyra. Neil put a stop to Karen's worries with a big kiss.

Daniel encouraged Amber, who was sobbing in their bed, to eat something.
"She was my friend, Daniel. She was the only one who actually believed in me unconditionally," she cried. Daniel tried to get Amber to think about what Mrs. Chancellor would think about her wallowing in grief. Amber thought she might follow through on Mrs. C's plans to write her memoirs. She was making deals with publishers. Daniel did a sketch of Mrs. C. When Amber told Jill that she had made a deal with a publisher, Jill was furious. "That book belongs to me and it will never see the light of day," Jill vowed as she kicked Amber and Daniel out of the house.

Adam and Heather went over his strategy in dealing with the FBI's questions about Victor's diaries. "You two (Adam and Jack) were obviously working together," Heather said. Adam explained that he had found the journal at home in the trash and "I told Jack." "Why Jack?" Heather asked. Adam lied about that, but admitted he had the diaries published. He was relieved when the FBI agents left.

Heather showed Paul her engagement ring. "I'm really happy for you," said her obviously proud papa.

Friday

The ghost of Marge sat at her own funeral service and talked about who she wished would attend. She walked through the room filled with guests and made pithy Marge-like remarks. When she saw Esther hanging around the coffin, however, she realized the funeral was for Katherine — not her. GhostMarge ran out of the church and started to search for Katherine. She found Kay lying by the river, still alive but barely. Kay's hand moved.

Sharon and Jack discussed Noah's bad attitude. "He's not too happy with me right now," Sharon admitted. Jack wanted to talk to his wife about their relationship, but Sharon wasn't interested. "We have a funeral to go to," she reminded him sadly. "Am I always going to have to stand in line behind Nick?" Jack asked. "You're going to attack me for seeing Nick in Paris?" a defensive Sharon answered. Jack backed off, apologized again for lying to her and hugged her. Jack's mom, Dina, showed up at the Abbott house. An FBI agent arrived to ask Jack some questions about the publication of excerpts from Victor Newman's diary. Jack kept the man outside and made plans to meet with him the following day at the D.A.'s office. Back inside, Jack lied to Sharon and said the man had the wrong address.

Victoria and JT met Nikki at the GCAC. Nikki was still beating herself up for not being more available to Katherine. They were all surprised to see Ashley there.
She told them that she and her sister Traci were staying at the club. "It's a little crowded at Jack's with all the tenants," she noted. Ashley was cagey when Nikki asked if she had found Victor. "I don't think this is the time," Ashley hedged. "I still love him," Nikki admitted. "I know," Ashley replied. "I think it'd be best for you if you move on," she advised, still not saying she had found Victor.

Nick told Phyllis that Nikki was still a wreck. Shifting gears, he remarked that he enjoyed their recent night of passion. "That'll teach you to go to Paris with your ex-wife," she quipped. Sharon called Nick and they discussed the situation with Noah. Daniel and Amber showed up to go to the funeral with them.

Jill's family gathered at the Chancellor mansion. She told Billy and Cane she would be stepping into Katherine's role as chairman of the Chancellor board, but they would be her right and left hands. Brock arrived and met Cane. He assured Jill that Katherine's death was not her fault.

Nina appeared at the church and caught up with everyone. Esther brought her up to speed about Cane. Danny and Gina entered. "Feels like a nostalgia tour, doesn't it?" quipped Danny. Amber told Mrs. C she was angry with her. She wept in Daniel's arms. Nikki arrived with Paul. Jill was annoyed when Nikki asked for one more minute with Katherine. "You have upstaged me with my mother for years," Jill said cruelly. Jack said hello to Ashley. She was surprised to see their mother there. "Well, as I reminded your brother and Traci, Katherine and I were once quite close," Dina explained. Billy was glad to see all the Abbotts together. He told Jack that Jill had named herself chairman of the board and suggested that they should try to get Jabot back to the Abbott family.

Phyllis walked in on an embrace between Sharon and Nick and immediately remembered seeing them kiss in Paris. Sharon told Nick that Jack was upset about their Paris trip.

Phyllis and Amber talked about Mrs. C and called a truce. Mitchell, Katherine's lawyer, told Jill that he scheduled a reading of the will. "Katherine did make some recent changes," he warned. Victor charged into the funeral and took a seat next to Ashley. Everyone was stunned — most of all Nikki.
