Young and Restless Recaps

Y&R Week of May 26, 2008

Monday

Paul continued to research David and learned disturbing information from an ex-wife. The ex said she'd burned her previous investigation report. Paul said he needed proof. "He has two dead ex-wives; what more proof do you need?" she asked. However, then she began to talk about "them" — the creatures without DNA — and Paul realized she was a little nutty. He reported his findings to JT via phone. "She thinks aliens are running France," he said.

Meanwhile, Nikki and David planned a life in their dream house. "No more living out of suitcases," he promised as he kissed her.

Things were popping at Restless Style. Amber had a hard time saying goodbye to Daniel. They agreed they would trust each other and would always be faithful while he was away on tour with Danny. Daniel made plans to join Danny for dessert at Gina's. Daniel told Phyllis he had decided to join his dad on tour. "A son needs his father," she smiled.

Sharon hoped that the second magazine issue would be easier. She also worried that Noah wasn't talking about his feelings. Daniel got Noah to admit he misses Cassie. Jack also got Noah to open up. He told Jack he felt bad if he laughed when he missed Cassie. Sharon shared that someone had donated $2 million dollars to Cassie's charity. Danny met everyone at the magazine. Jack raved about Daniel. "You should be very proud of your son," Jack said. Daniel thanked Jack for the kind words. Over brownies, Danny said Daniel would be the official photographer of the tour. He assured Daniel that Amber would be fine. Danny admitted he felt bad that he wasn't there for him when Daniel was in trouble.

Phyllis got a call: Nick had been in an accident. At the hospital, Nick was okay. Phyllis, Victor and Nikki were all very relieved. David brought JT and Victoria up to speed about the accident. Victoria was very upset. However, the MRI was clean. Nick remembered singing a lullaby to Cassie as she lay dying three years ago. He began to remember all the details around the accident, including yelling at Daniel and the memorial service. Then he relived how Cassie's death lead to the destruction of his marriage. Nick made plans to go to he ranch but first called Sharon. He needed to see her ASAP. Sharon was happy to see Nick was okay. Nick told her he remembered EVERYTHING — "Cassie, what happened to us. I'm just so sorry, Sharon," he said. Sharon tried to assure him that there was nothing he could have done differently. He then beat up on himself for having left her. Sharon said she had forgiven him. Nick asked her how she copes. She said that she thinks about Noah and what Cassie would have wanted. "I don't deserve your kindness," he said. Sharon assured him he was an amazing father to Cassie.

David got a call and slipped away to take it — it was about some gambling debt. He lied and said he was going on a 12th step call with someone in his GA group. David later joined Nikki, Victoria and JT for dinner. After dinner, Nikki held her grandson and noted she had many blessings. "May we all live long, full lives," she said.

Adam asked Victor if they could talk over dinner about his business screw-up. But that was interrupted with a call about Nick's accident. They rushed to Memorial Hospital. Sabrina later arrived at the office looking for Victor, but Adam had no clue as to where he was. Sabrina told him today was the anniversary of Cassie's death. Victor returned to the office and Adam apologized, saying he didn't realize it was the anniversary. Victor was grateful for his kind words. Adam asked to see a photo of Cassie. "I'm sorry I didn't get to know my niece," he said.

Jack took Noah to the cemetery. "I'm honored you asked," Jack said. Sharon and Nick then showed up at the grave site and they wept.

Tuesday

Nick woke up to found Phyllis bringing him coffee. He told her he was beginning to remember a lot, including everything that happened to Cassie. Phyllis wanted to help Nick, but she didn't know what to do. Nick admitted he'd gone to Cassie's grave with Sharon. Tears began to fill Nick's eyes when he agonized over not protecting Cassie from the accident. Phyllis told Nick he'd been a great father to Cassie and that he was still an amazing father to Noah and Summer. Nick told Phyllis he remembered good things too. "Like what?" Phyllis asked. "Like falling in love with you," Nick responded. Nick admitted he was a better person because of her. Phyllis cried, and she and Nick kissed passionately. Later, Nick and Phyllis went into the office. He asked to speak to Sharon alone, and apologized for breaking up their family.

When Daniel came in to the office to say goodbye, Amber and Phyllis were both sad over his leaving. Nick apologized to Daniel for mistreating him after Cassie's death. Daniel accepted the apology, and asked Nick to look out for Phyllis while he was gone. When Danny showed up to take Daniel away, Phyllis told him to protect Daniel from the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll on tour. A few steps away, Daniel and Amber hugged goodbye.

At Jabot, Kay and Jill got into a fight. Cane walked in while Kay was leaving, and Jill apologized for the drama. Cane told her he knew it was the anniversary of Phillip's death. Jill admitted the day was always tough for her and Kay. Cane told her he wanted to know more about his father. Jill began talking about her life with Phillip, then went off on a tangent about Kay's alcoholism. Jill blamed Kay for ruining her life with Phillip. Cane asked Jill if it bothered her to talk about her own mother that way, but Jill said it was Kay's fault they couldn't be a real family. Fed up with Jill badmouthing Kay, Cane left and told Jill he'd rather not hear anymore.

Cane then went to Kay and asked her to tell him about Phillip. When Kay began to tell him a story, Jill interrupted, reminding Kay how drunk she was in those days. Kay cut her story short, and she and Jill continued to argue. Cane erupted and blasted both of them for their bickering. "What about me?" he screamed. Cane told them his life was screwed up by their feud as well, and if he could forgive, so could they.

At the coffee shop, Gloria stopped in to whine to Kevin and Jana and get free espresso. Kevin said it was obvious Gloria was depressed, but Jana though Gloria missed Jeffrey. Gloria said she had something that was going to save her from financial ruin. Jana asked Gloria if she would help Kevin if things got too busy at the shop. Kevin said he didn't need Gloria's help, and made her promise not to come to help. Before Jana left for her new job at the art gallery, she kissed Kevin goodbye.

Alone at the coffee shop, Kevin struggled to handle the rush of customers. He called Gloria to ask her for help, and she said she'd come over after her meeting with the jeweler. When the jeweler arrived, Gloria was excited to see how much her diamonds would be appraised for. To her dismay, the jeweler told Gloria all of the diamonds were fakes — they were all made of cubic zirconia.

Wednesday

Kevin continued to struggle at Crimson Lights, and customers began asking for their money back. When Gloria showed up, he was thrilled to have help, but Gloria told him she had a bigger problem. She told him her diamonds were fakes, while she continued to try to reach Michael for help. When Glo's phone rang, Jill told her she needed to come into the office if she wanted to keep her job. Gloria said she couldn't because she had a family emergency.

At Jabot, Jill complained about Gloria's work ethic while Brad continued to play the cool, competent Jabot workhorse. When Jill stepped away, Nikki, Victoria and David appeared, ready for their meeting. Victoria marveled at Nikki's new jewelry. Nikki said David had good taste, and when she and Victoria stepped away, Brad hassled David about the money he'd spent on the jewelry for Nikki. Brad said he had some ideas he wanted to present at the meeting, and that he expected David's support. David told Brad his manipulation would soon be over because he was paying him off. Then David went to place another bet.

At the meeting, Jill was annoyed that Nikki and David agreed on everything. She also accused Nikki of not wanting to settle the current lawsuit because of her personal feelings toward Victor. After the meeting, David hugged Nikki and told her she handled Jill well. Nikki was preoccupied, wondering what was going on with David. Later, Jill warned Nikki to think about why she was so defensive about Victor during the meeting. Nikki asked Jill why everything came back to Victor with her. Jill set her straight — "Not with me. No, with you Nikki, and it always will until you let it go," Jill stated. When Nikki left the boardroom, she caught David and Brad shaking hands. She'd just missed David paying Brad $10,000 of the money he owed.

Meanwhile, Paul continued to investigate Nikki's seemingly shady husband. He and J.T. talked about the info they'd learned about David's ex wives. They'd discovered that one of the exes had a history of depression that got worse after David cheated on her. J.T. suspected David drove her over the edge to kill herself. He also wondered if David had anything to do with his second wife's death. Paul said they needed to figure it out.

At the ranch, Michael urged Victor to put his personal feelings aside and settle the lawsuit. Victor refused and told Michael to litigate the suit full force. Michael finally agreed, and Adam offered to help since he was responsible for the mess. Adam thanked Victor for the chance to redeem himself. "Don't disappoint me again," Victor advised.

Later, Jana and Sabrina browsed a catalog of art pieces they wanted to bid on. Sabrina was shocked when Victor told her to go after an astronomically priced piece. When she got on the phone to bid, Victor told her not to back down. He got a kick out of watching Sabrina place her bids. Sabrina won the piece for a little over $14 million. She and Victor were thrilled, and Jana was in shock. After Jana went home for the day, Victor and Jana celebrated their purchase with champagne. Victor asked Sabrina what kind of wedding she wanted. Sabrina said all she wanted was him, and the wedding didn't matter.

When Michael showed up to the coffee shop, he berated Kevin for hiring Gloria. When Glo told him about her diamonds being fakes, Michael told her they might have been switched while at the bank. He told her she would be fine if she had insurance on the jewels. Gloria told them she didn't get insurance because they were hidden assets. Michael told her she was screwed...but he offered to see what he could do to save her butt, as usual.

While Alistair helped out at the coffee shop, he noticed how depressed Gloria was over her financial situation. He called Jeff and told him he was wrong to spill the beans about Gloria's diamonds, and that he needed to return the real ones as soon as possible. "What diamonds?" Jeff asked innocently. "I have no idea what you're talking about, pal." Jeff then hung up the phone.

Thursday

Paul continued to dig into David's past. He spoke with JT about the "accidental death" of one of David's ex-wives. Adam ran into JT at Crimson Lights and called his brother-in-law a "rented cop in a nice suit." Ouch. Adam refused to share any details about the pending lawsuit. Later, Paul told JT he found the daughter of one of David's ex-wives. "She'll tell me everything I want to know," Paul beamed.

Adam admired Heather's glutes while they worked out at the club. He asked her out for a post-workout drink. Heather wasn't interested at first but soon changed her mind. They flirted at the bar and found out they had a lot in common. She invited him to watch a college basketball game in her room. At first he declined, but Heather managed to get him up to her room in time. The two started kissing passionately. There was no basketball game to watch after all....

Nikki saw David shaking Brad's hand and asked him what "that powwow" was about. David tried to dodge her questions but she persisted. "There's something you need to know," he admitted. David explained that he and Brad were discussing the lawsuit. Nikki pointed out that they had just discussed that at the meeting. David lied that Brad wanted them to settle with Victor. Nikki didn't think it was a good idea. "Brad seemed to be very sincere," David continued. "I can't believe this is coming out of your mouth," Nikki replied. She accused him of joining the Jill/Brad army. David reminded his wife that he was always on her side. Paul joined David and Nikki. David really didn't want to talk to him, but Nikki did. Paul caught a moment alone with David and began asking probing questions. He wondered why the quickie wedding. Paul got a call from David's stepdaughter, who was eager to tell someone all about him. David got a text message saying he'd won a bet. He lied and said it was his updated GA meeting list.

At the Baldwins, Gloria wondered where she was supposed to sleep. Michael suggested she hang from the rafters. He didn't want his mother to sleep at their house at all, "in the interest of my marriage." Michael explained that she was putting him in a very difficult situation. Gloria worried she'd become a bag lady. "I wouldn't go that far," Lauren said. Jill called Gloria, asking her to come to Jabot and discuss her proposal. Gloria was very excited. Michael thought it was high time that Jill gave her a raise. Lauren and Michael wished Glo luck as she hurried out to see Jill.

"That proposal sucks, Gloria," Jill growled after she fired her. Gloria tried her best to convince Jill to accept her ideas, to no avail. "We can't afford a no-show Glo," Jill insisted. Gloria begged her boss to reconsider. Jill refused. "It's too late," Jill said, shaking her head. Gloria reminded her that "this is John's company." Jill wasn't interested in Gloria playing the widow card, "as you've been married twice since. Have a nice life." Gloria returned home right as Lauren and Michael were in the middle of kissing. They were not happy. "Boundaries. Boundaries!" he snapped at his mother. Gloria reported that Jill just fired her. Michael and Lauren agreed to help. She could stay on their couch "until you make other plans," Lauren offered. She thought perhaps Gloria still had feelings for Jeffrey. "I had a more intimate relationship with his voicemail than with him," Gloria admitted. Neither Michael or Lauren were surprised that Jill had fired Glo. Lauren suggested they put a sleeper sofa in the home office. Michael refused.

Jill met Jeffrey for dinner and told him she had fired Gloria. Just then, Gloria entered the dining room, walked over and offered Jeffrey $49 million to settle their divorce on their own. Jeffrey said no. "I want it all," he stated matter-of-factly. "Do you hate me this much?" she asked. Jeffrey reminded her that she laughed in his face when he begged her for a chance and told her he loved her.

Friday

Before Gloria's divorce hearing, Michael reminded her to stay calm. When Jeff arrived, Michael was annoyed with his smug demeanor and excused himself, leaving Gloria in the hands of another trusted attorney. Gloria's lawyer didn't get why she was willing give Jeff's all her money, but Gloria still agreed to go through with the deal. Once Jeff officially had all of her money, Gloria declared him despicable. "If I never see you again, it'll be too soon," she sniffed. When she returned to Michael and Lauren's she broke down in tears. Michael told her to be strong. While Lauren and Michael went to run her bathwater and make her tea, Gloria vowed not to let Jeff ruin her. "This isn't the end," she sobbed. "This is just the beginning."

The morning after their hot hookup, Adam and Heather woke up in each other's arms. Adam apologized for having to rush off, but Heather told him it was fine because she had a meeting. Adam asked if she was happy. She said she was, and he caressed her hair and kissed her goodbye. "Until next time," he said. They were surprised when they later learned they were headed to the same meeting.

At the athletic club, Paul and J.T. chatted about how David wanted them to back off when they were asking Nikki about the wedding. Paul said his gut was telling him to go to Nikki and tell her everything they'd learned about David. J.T. thought they should wait for solid evidence, because he didn't think Nikki would listen to what they had to say. Paul said he'd do a little more digging around, but that he'd be going to Nikki soon, regardless of what he found out. After meeting with David's former stepdaughter at the coffeehouse, Paul was sure he was ready to warn Nikki.

At the Newman/Jabot hearing, Michael advised Nikki to accept Victor's settlement because the judge would throw Jabot's argument out in court. She refused and insisted that Newman agree to their terms. Michael and Adam said those terms were unacceptable, so no settlement was reached. During the meeting, David stepped out to return his bookie's telephone call and placed a $40,000 bet. After the meeting, Paul stopped by Jabot looking for Nikki. David lied and said she was out all day. Paul said he'd wait, and he and David stared each other down.

Meanwhile, Devon chewed Chloe out for throwing out his cereal and replacing it with health cereal. He warned her not to mess with his things. When Lily came downstairs, Devon asked her when Chloe would be moving out. Lily asked him to cut Chloe a little slack. She told him Chloe stayed up all night helping her study famous designers. Moments later, Chloe told them a New York agency was interested in Lily and wanted to interview her. Lily was thrilled to go to New York. Chloe wanted to pick out new shoes for Lily to wear, and Lily made Devon offer to go with her. Cane arrived as Chloe and Devon headed out. Lily was excited to have alone time with Cane. "I miss you," she said. "I miss us." Lily admitted she was afraid to sleep with Cane, because she feared getting pregnant again. Cane said he didn't want to rush her, but Lily said she was ready. Meanwhile, Chloe wanted to abort the shopping mission, claiming she needed to get back to Lily and help her prepare for her trip.
