Y&R Week of March 31, 2008
Monday
After Alistair got away, Michael returned to the mansion and demanded that Jack and Sharon confess to hiring someone to play John's ghost. Jack and Sharon denied the accusations, but Michael refused to back off. Jack finally admitted that they hired an actor to scare Gloria. Michael was so furious that he grabbed Jack, and Sharon had to pull them apart. Michael told them to
prepare for one hell of a lawsuit before he stormed out of the mansion. When
Michael returned home, he told Lauren about Jack and Sharon's scheme. Lauren was shocked they would do something so crazy. Michael vowed not to let Jack get away with it.
At Crimson Lights, Kevin and Gloria showed up looking for Alistair. The
bartender told Kevin they'd just missed a guy fitting their description, and while Gloria and Kevin tried to figure out where he might have gone, Jeff showed up looking for him as well. Jeff was surprised when Gloria pretended like she didn't know what was going on, and he excused himself to keep looking for Alistair. When Jeff returned to the mansion, he, Jack and Sharon tried to brainstorm a way to find Alistair before the rest of town
discovered their secret. Gloria and Kevin soon showed up, followed by
Michael. Michael demanded they tell Gloria what they'd done. No one would
confess, so Michael told her about the actor they hired to play John. Gloria
admitted to knowing about the scheme, and asked them if they really thought they would get away with it. She told them she was retiring for a relaxing bath, and they'd discuss the situation later.
While Nikki and Victoria had dinner, Sabrina called to invite her to
California. Victoria declined because she didn't want to travel with Reed.
Sabrina then told Victoria that she'd found art that she thought would
interest Victor. Victoria suggested that Sabrina call Victor, so she did.
Victor asked Sabrina to send catalogues from the gallery, but Sabrina told him it would be nice if he could see the art in person. Victor considered, and told Sabrina he'd get back to her. Later, Victor told Adam that he and Victoria might have to run the company without him for a while.
At Brad's, David ignored Nikki's phone calls while he, Brad, Adrian and Cane
played cards. The gentlemen were relaxed, but Brad noticed David got tense and serious once the bets were on the table. After David won everyone's money, the players went their separate ways while Brad questioned David about his poker past. David claimed he just got lucky, but Brad knew otherwise. He invited David to play in a poker tournament, but David declined before leaving. Later, David met up with Nikki, but when Victor and Adam showed up to eat, they decided to leave. Once David was alone, he made a call to check on his seat at a poker game, and then decided to let his seat go.
At the chancellor estate, Kay saw Alistair lurking around and invited him to come inside. Alistair hesitated and told Kay he wasn't sure if he should
stay because he'd been treated shabbily since he was invited to the city. Kay asked him if he knew John, but Alistair told her he only knew of him. Kay then asked who'd invited him to Genoa City, but Alistair didn't want to answer. Sensing his nervousness, Kay invited him to stay and chat for a
while. Minutes later, Jill came home and was shocked to see "John" sitting
in the parlor. Kay told her that Alistair was in town under interesting
circumstances, and Jill went to grab food and drinks. When Jill returned,
she asked to hear his story, but before he told them, he asked if he could
have a chance to meet Gloria. They asked why, and Alistair told them how he was taken with her. Jill and Kay laughed at the irony, and told him it
wasn't the first time Gloria had had that affect on a man.
Tuesday
Gloria told Jeff she couldn't believe he would team up with Jack to get her to leave the mansion. Jeff claimed his intentions were to get her to move so they could have their own home. He then accused Gloria of lying about loving him. Gloria said she couldn't love him because he was a liar. Jeff called her a golddigger, and as the two traded insults, they grabbed each other and shared a sweet kiss. Shocked and disgusted she'd become attracted to Jeff, Gloria pulled herself away and left the mansion.
Meanwhile, Michael massaged Lauren's temples while they relaxed on the couch.
While they sat, Michael thought of ways he could use Jack's scheme to get Jack and Sharon out of the house. Lauren told Michael it would be a good time to make Gloria stand on her own two stilettos and learn the consequences of her actions. Moments later, Gloria called Michael and told him she was coming over. Before Michael could say no, Gloria showed up and asked if she could stay with them because she couldn't stand to be in the house. Michael told Gloria that if she could figure out how to get into schemes, she'd have to figure out how to get out of them. He added that he would no longer let her shenanigans endanger his wife and son.
At the Chancellor estate, Jill and Kay continued to talk to Alistair, telling him all about John. Alistair confessed that he had fallen in love with Gloria the moment he saw her. Jill wondered what it was about Gloria that made men fall for her, and Kay told Alistair that Gloria had already been married and fallen for her dead husband's look-alike. She said she probably would not want to go through it again. Alistair told Kay and Jill not to take away a man's dream. Kay could tell that Jill was attracted to Alistair for wrong and obvious reasons, and she suggested that they figure out a way to get rid of him. Jill disagreed, and said they should keep Alistair around until they figured out what Jeff was holding over Gloria's head.
At the Newman offices, Victor sat and reflected on a conversation he had with Nikki when he told her he never needed any of his family members. Victor seemed saddened by his words, and when Neil came into the office he urged him to spend time with his family. Neil sensed Victor was troubled by his relationship with Nick, and he assured Victor that Nick would come around. Later Victor asked Neil how Victoria and Adam were getting along. Neil answered he thought the two were trying to undermine each other.
At the club, Adam saw Nikki sitting alone and asked if he could join her.
Once he sat down at her table, he began asking questions about Hope and what her life was like with Victor. Nikki was a little uncomfortable to admit she wasn't nice to Hope, but she assured Adam that Victor loved Hope very much.
David returned to Brad's to pick up the PDA he left behind during the poker game. Brad sensed David was tense, and asked him if anything was wrong. David told Brad he was fine, but asked him not to mention their poker game to Nikki. Brad invited David to sit down and chat, and asked him why he didn't want Nikki to know. David didn't want to tell Brad his secret, but Brad assured him it would be kept between the two of them. David then admitted that he used to have a gambling problem, and that Nikki knew about it. He added that he had the addiction under control, and that he didn't want her to worry over their poker game. Brad pretended to be concerned, and David thanked him for letting him talk about it. When David left, Brad made a call to have someone invite David to a game and convince him to play.
Wednesday
Adam sat alone thinking of his last days with his mother, and missing her on her birthday. Soon Jack and Sharon approached him to thank him for convincing Victor to advertise in Restless Style. When Jack and Sharon sat down to dinner, they wondered if the mansion was worth the fight. They both agreed they missed Noah, and Jack decided that they should end the feud.
Later, Victor and Adam met up and Adam told his father he wanted to know more about Hope and their life together. Victor told Adam about his life on Hope's farm. Adam was surprised Victor did so much manual labor, and Victor told him how much he enjoyed it. Victor told his son that he and Hope were happy for a while, but added that they had issues with Nikki around. Adam asked if Hope left Genoa City because he didn't choose her when she got pregnant. Victor replied that Hope didn't like Genoa City enough to stay. "If you loved us, you wouldn't have let us go," Adam said. Victor maintained he let Hope go because that's what Hope wanted. Adam thanked him for sharing about his mother.
At the coffee shop, Jeff chatted with Kevin about Gloria. "Tell her I want her in the worst possible way, and I'll wait for her as long as it takes," Jeff declared. Kevin was grossed out and accused Jeff of wanting to drive Gloria crazy so he could send her away and take all of her money. Jeff said he hoped Kevin and Michael could get over their hostility toward him so they could all be one happy, rich family. When Michael showed up Jeff left, and Kevin told Michael they needed to have a family meeting. Michael said he and Lauren decided to leave Gloria to fix her own messes from then on. Kevin thought Michael was being too harsh, but Michael insisted Gloria hadn't learned from her mistakes and had no desire to grow up or be a better person. As Kevin continued to defend their mom, he and Michael got into a heated argument. Finally, Michael warned him not to sacrifice all the work he'd done to improve for Gloria's sake. "If you stand up for Gloria instead of yourself, I can't promise that I'll be able to save you," Michael worried.
While alone with Lauren, Gloria tried to explain her newfound feelings for Jeff. Lauren said she shouldn't want to spend her life with a man like Jeff. She told Gloria she felt chemistry, not love. Gloria wondered why bad things always happened to her. Lauren told her she was attracted to drama, and that she shouldn't continue to live her life like that. "The way you live your life is exhausting and it's bad for my family," Lauren said. Gloria apologized. Lauren didn't want an apology — she wanted Gloria to change. After Gloria called Kevin for a favor and he refused, Gloria left feeling abandoned and returned to the mansion.
At the mansion, Jack tossed his set of keys at Gloria's feet and told her he'd sell her his half of the estate. He called her a mean-spirited woman, and said he wanted to focus on Sharon, Noah and peace.
Thursday
At the Abbott mansion, Jeff tried to cheer Gloria up, reminding her that she'd won the house, but Gloria remained upset about her sons abandoning her. When Jack stopped by to tell them about the contract he had his lawyer working on, he realized just how difficult it would be to leave his father's home. After Sharon told Jack all of their boxes were loaded, Jack's eyes filled with tears as he took one last look at the home that had been his for so many years.
Later, Gloria went to the coffeehouse to invite Kevin and Jana to dinner. Kevin declined, and Gloria left the coffee shop crushed. Jana told Kevin he was being too harsh, but Kevin stood firm, telling Jana it was time for him to cut the strings. After striking out with Kevin, Gloria went to Michael, asking him to come over. Michael refused. Gloria apologized for her actions, but said it was Jeff's fault that she had been acting crazy. Michael said Gloria needed to take responsibility for her actions, and told her neither he nor Lauren would be going to the Abbott mansion. Gloria returned home alone, and whispered to John, telling him she needed him. "I'm so lonely," she said through tears. While Gloria sobbed, a few mansions away, Jill and Kay continued to probe Alistair to figure out why Gloria married Jeff, and what he was holding over her head.
At the Restless Style offices, Adam stopped by to discuss some ideas with Nick. He also surprised Phyllis with a gift. Phyllis was flattered, but told Adam he needed to stop hitting on her. Adam said he wanted to do something to show his appreciation since Phyllis was his first friend. Phyllis apologized for accusing him, and Adam apologized for his flirtatious style. While they chatted, Michael and Lauren came in. Adam left, and Phyllis, Nick, Michael and Lauren caught up. Soon Amber bum rushed Lauren, begging her to check out her designs. Phyllis reminded Amber that her job was to answer the phones. Later, Amber and Daniel got into an argument, and Amber headed to the coffee shop. Jana could tell she was upset and tried to cheer her up by asking her to be in her wedding. Amber was thrilled, and offered to design Jana's wedding dress as a gift.
When Adam made it back to the office, he and Victoria argued over the model for the Beauty of Nature campaign. Adam asked Victoria to understand that he wasn't sure how to fit in, and it was causing him to act more harshly with her. Victoria appreciated his words, and thanked him for his honesty. Victoria's friendliness quickly faded when she learned Victor told Adam he was going out of town but didn't tell her. Adam said he didn't tell Victoria because he was sworn to secrecy.
When Victor arrived to his destination, Sabrina welcomed him with open arms and gave him a tour of the art exhibit. Victor was very impressed with the art and architecture, and Sabrina was thrilled he was enjoying himself. As they observed more pieces, Sabrina told Victor how much she admired him, and Victor did some admiring of his own as well.
Friday
Over breakfast, Jill encouraged Alistair not to give up on Gloria. She wasn't concerned with his happiness, so much — she wanted him to figure out the secret between Jeff and Gloria. Jill told Alistair to remember all he'd learned about John, and try to mimic it when speaking with Gloria so he could woo her.
While Gloria sat at the mansion drowning her sorrows, Alistair arrived and gave her flowers. He apologized for causing her grief, and Gloria invited him in for a chat. After they caught up, Gloria told Alistair he was the most charming man she'd met since meeting John. The two enjoyed their time with each other until Jeff showed up and asked Alistair to leave. Once he was gone, Jeff and Gloria kissed passionately and made out, until Jeff's Korean lover showed up screaming to crash the love fest.
Exhausted and moody, Lily stopped by the coffee shop and Cane asked her if she was feeling okay. Lily claimed she was fine, and Cane was about to buy her breakfast when Chloe showed up to tell her a world-famous photographer wanted to photograph her in three hours. Lily told Chloe she appreciated the opportunity, but she needed to catch up with her school work and rest. Chloe began to rant about Lily throwing away a golden opportunity, and Cane jumped to Lily's defense, saying she needed to rest and Chloe needed to back off. Chloe stormed off and marched over to Jabot to rat on Lily. When she interrupted Nikki's meeting with David without knocking, Nikki asked her to explain herself. Chloe complained Lily was flaking, but David and Nikki didn't believe it. When Chloe told them Lily declined the important photo shoot, Nikki told her they hired her to develop Lily, not run her into the ground.
Cane took Lily to the Chancellor home to rest, and while he made soup for her, Amber showed up to check on Kay. Lily told Amber that Kay wasn't home, but she could ask Cane about her on her way out. Lily also asked Amber how it felt to finally score Daniel, claiming she'd been trying to do it for a whole year. Cane told Amber he hadn't heard from Kay and to leave her a message on her cell, but Amber insisted she'd wait. After Lily fell asleep, Amber left and told Cane she hoped Lily would feel better. Cane said he thought she had the flu, but Amber suggested Lily might be pregnant.
Back at Jabot, Nikki showed Heather around to help her settle in on her first day. Brad told Heather he'd be happy to help her transition to corporate. After Heather left, Nikki asked David how his addict's meeting went. David said it was tough, but he was committed to getting better. While they talked, Brad eavesdropped from outside the door. Once their meeting was over, David went to see Brad to tell him he enjoyed their poker night. He asked if they could do it again. Brad pretended to think it was a bad idea, but David insisted he could handle it. Again he asked Brad not to mention it to Nikki.
As Victor and Sabrina continued to check out artwork, they began holding hands. While they walked, Victoria called Sabrina's cell looking for Victor. Sabrina told her friend that Victor was with her, and when she put him on the phone, Victoria asked why he hadn't answered the phone when she called. Victor told her he left his phone on the plane and asked what she needed. Victoria told him she and Adam couldn't agree on an important decision and she needed his input, but Victor said he'd handle it when he got back.
When Adam later found Victoria sitting at Victor's desk, he told her he was concerned that JT hadn't yet discovered who caused the security breech. Victoria her brother to mind his own business, and Adam walked out feeling insulted.
Victor and Sabrina continued browsing until Victor said he had to leave because his jet was waiting. They admitted they'd miss each other's company, and as they stared into each other's eyes, they leaned in for a kiss.
