Young and Restless Recaps
Y&R Week of March 10, 2008
Monday
Nick and Phyllis gave Nikki a tour of their new office space at the warehouse, then discussed their plans for a family dinner at the GCAC. Nikki was concerned when she heard Nick invited Adam since Victoria and her new brother have "been at odds." But Nick pointed out that dinner will give them all a chance to get to know each other better.
At Insomnia, Amber was aghast that Daniel wanted to tell Kevin about the money. Amber continued to try and talk Daniel out of giving up the cash, but he was adamant that they wouldn't keep it. Amber was nervous when Heather showed up to talk to Daniel. He asked Amber to leave, which she reluctantly did. Heather observed that Daniel's heart was "elsewhere" but before he
could respond, he got a text message from Amber that begged, "Please, please, please don't tell her about the money." Daniel was able to steer the conversation to the lost money and Heather said she would love to find another lead in the Ji Min murder case. Heather then revealed that she was thinking about moving away from Genoa City. After she left, Daniel told Amber that giving back the money would only cause them more problems.
Adam was feeling uneasy about having dinner with his siblings. At the GCAC he bumped into Nikki and was surprised to learn that she and David would be joining them. "We'll need a banquet room," Adam cracked. David, then Phyllis, Nick, Victoria and J.T. showed up. They sat down to dinner and peppered Adam with questions about his life where they learned that he worked as an agent for a real estate developer in Manhattan. Phyllis seem to relate to Adam's New York experiences while Nick noted that he liked the slower pace in Genoa City.
At the GCAC gym, Sabrina watched Victor pummel, really pummel, the punching bag. After they were both done working out, he asked her to have dinner but Victor suddenly lost his appetite when he saw his family dining together and felt left out. He offered to give Sabrina a ride home. They picked up cheeseburgers and fries on the way and as they dined together at the ranch, Victor asked, "Why don't you stay for a while longer?"
Once the family dinner wrapped up, Adam, Phyllis and Nick were the last ones hanging out. When Nick had to take a call, Phyllis told Adam that it took a while for the Newmans to accept her. "But you wanted them to like you," Adam noted. "I don't really care." Later, Nick informed Phyllis that he could tell Adam had no interest "of being a part of this family."
Tuesday
Jack checked on his spy cam and found that it had been tampered with. "It could only be Jeff or Gloria," surmised Sharon. After Sharon left, Ghost John urged his son to give the mansion to Gloria.
Jeffrey gave Kevin a new mp3 player to go along with his new car, new digital camera and new cell phone. Jeff then confessed that he had fallen in love with Gloria. "Maybe I should just clean out her bank accounts and split," Jeff proposed but Kevin advised his stepdad to endear himself to
Gloria instead. Kevin later told Gloria about the conversation. "He doesn't love me," Glo scoffed. "A woman knows when a man loves her." She then decided it was time to switch tactics. Meanwhile, Jeffery was having divorce
papers drawn up.
Lily was frustrated that college and her modeling career was keeping her too busy to spend time with Cane. He wanted to go on a weekend getaway but she was booked solid until May. Chloe rushed in and announced that Lily was "going to be busy 24/7 until we have this release party for Restless Style." Neil showed up and informed Lily that someone from school was looking for her because they were supposed to work on a project together. "You're overdoing it, babe," warned Neil but Lily insisted she just hasn't found
"the right rhythm" with her hectic schedule yet.
Nikki was miffed when Jill offered suggestions on how to run Jabot, which also included some "great ideas" from Brad. Later, Neil met with Nikki and shared his concerns about Lily's work schedule interfering with her education. Nikki then checked on Lily, who got upset with her dad for
stepping in. Lily assured Nikki that everything was okay. Lily then charged over and blasted Neil for talking to Nikki. When Neil defended his actions, Lily declared, "I need to get my own place. I am moving out." Neil agreed
that it was time and they softened. He apologized for overstepping "my bounds" and she admitted that she had been letting her school work slide. Lily accepted Devon's offer to move into his campus house.
Brad met with Walter to buy info on David. Walter blabbed that Chow had a serious gambling problem. Walter mentioned that David has stopped for now but "always ends up back at the table." Brad said he would gladly pay up if Walter found out anymore details on David.
Amber suggested they use the stolen money to by ad space in Restless Style to show off her new fashion line (she would model the designs and he'll take the photos). Daniel liked everything about the idea "except how we pay for it."
Jill was upset when Cane announced he was moving into his own condo. She suggested he move into another wing of the mansion but he said he needed "my own space." After, Jill clashed with Kay over how Jill was running Chancellor Industries. Jill was further peeved when Amber showed up to help Kay with writing her memoirs.
Nikki urged David to get counseling for his gambling addiction but he ditched the references she gave him.... Paul reported back to Kevin that Jeffrey met with a lawyer.... Kay told Amber that she might invest in Ms.
Moore's fashion line.... Daniel confessed about the money to Kevin, who said it had to be destroyed.... Brad pretended to make amends with David.... Jack told Sharon that they should consider selling the mansion to Gloria.... Jeff hid a bill of sale (for the house) in the stack of divorce papers, then presented them to Gloria to sign. "I can't divorce you, Jeffrey," she announced. "You're starting to grow on me."
Wednesday
Jeffrey was surprised when Gloria didn't want to sign the divorce papers but didn't buy that she had a change of heart about him. Jeff challenged his wife to consummate their marriage and proposed getting it on tonight at the
club. Gloria came up with her own suggestion. "I want to be wooed, the old-fashioned way," she said but Jeff insisted on his plan.
Sharon was shocked that Jack wanted to give up his family home. They tried one last time to convince Gloria to sell but she refused. Jack later suggested that they trick Glo into believing that John's ghost is haunting the mansion.
After showing his new condo to Lily, Cane said he would love for her to move in but knew the timing wasn't right. "I'm starting to get your dad's trust and you're preoccupied with the modeling thing," he pointed out and she agreed. Later, Lily had another run in with weight-obsessed Chloe.
Daniel told Phyllis and Nick that he was starting a clothing line with Amber and wanted to take out an ad in Restless Style. However, Daniel was flabbergasted
at the price and Phyllis pointed out that the fashion endeavor "costs a bit more money than you and Amber have access to." Daniel mentioned that Katherine Chancellor may invest, which made Phyllis and Nick very curious.
Jill was upset when Nikki made a huge business deal without consulting her. "I ran this by Katherine, and she was just fine with it," Nikki defended which made Jill ever more mad that she was kept out of the loop. Nikki voiced her concern that they were pushing their Fresh Face models too much but Jill huffed that the campaign "will go on exactly as I outlined."
Amber was shocked when Kevin ordered her to burn the money. "I'm not doing it!' she protested but Kevin insisted that she do it. Furious, Amber charged over to the warehouse and tore into Daniel for blabbing to Kevin about the money. Kevin showed up so he and Daniel could gang up on Amber to do the right thing. After Kevin departed, Amber tried to convince Daniel to keep the money but he refused.
Phyllis and Nick gave Kay a tour of the warehouse and she confirmed that she was going to invest in Amber's designs. After Kay left, Nick decided to give Amber "the best rate possible" for her ad space.
In their suite at the club, Jeff tried to get hot and heavy with Gloria. Kevin showed up and announced that their was an emergency at Jabot. "I've had it with your lies, your schemes, your tricks, your machinations," bellowed Jeff. "Get ready for jail, Gloria, because it's the next place you're going!"
Thursday
Neil liked Adam's design concepts for Beauty of Nature. Victor arrived and proposed that B of N "be the title sponsor of a big, high-profile environmental charity event." Victor asked what Victoria thought of the idea
and Adam assured that she was on board. Later, Adam admitted to Victor that even though he has been spending time with his siblings, he can't relate to them.
Jeffrey was miffed with Gloria for running out on him the night before. "You give this marriage a shot, or you go to jail," he demanded. Meanwhile, Jack told Sharon that they needed to go ahead with their plan about John's ghost.
"Gloria is very sentimental about my father, so making her think that he's come back might be the best way to get to her," Jack surmised. Later, Jack approached Jeff, who confessed that he blamed Gloria for William's death and
only married her to "bleed her dry." However, Jeff admitted that he has fallen in love with his wife. Jeff offered to help.
Kevin and Daniel feared that Amber would hide the stolen cash. Daniel revealed his mom still had a key to the penthouse so they can search the place for the loot while Amber was out. Daniel went to the warehouse, where Phyllis sensed tension between her son and Amber. She insisted to Daniel that she wasn't going to give up the money.
Nick got upset when he found out that his line of credit didn't get extended and suspected it was because of his dad. Nick charged over to Newman Enterprises and confronted Victor. "I simply told the president of the bank that you had a bad business plan," Victor huffed. As Nick stormed out, he warned Adam to be careful. Later, Nikki offered Nick some funding but he said he wanted to do it on his own.
Nikki and Cane checked in on Lily's photo shoot. When she came out in a beautiful dress, Chloe said it looked tight but Nikki disagreed. When Chloe cracked that she was used to working with professional models, Nikki countered, "The only person that we expect to behave professionally here is
you." Lily admitted to Cane that Chloe made her feel like a "fat pig." As the photo shoot proceeded, Cane called Neil to come over for support. Neil showed up in time to see Chloe getting exasperated with Lily. She became upset when she found out that Cane summoned her dad. Chloe offered to help if Lily would only let her.
Gloria told Kevin that she was going to pretend to be in love with Jeffrey. Glo headed out to "Fenmore's to buy the sexiest lingerie I can find, then I'm going on the offensive to entice him." After, Glo approached Jeffrey and said, "Please don't send me to jail. Give me another chance."
Friday
On the phone, Nick made it clear to a reporter that his new venture has nothing to do with Victor; his stressed energy only intensified throughout the day. After Phyllis left to meet with the party-planning publicist, Sharon arrived and noted Nick's harried focus on the project. He admitted he's kind of obsessed with Restless Style; she assured him that everything will be great. Phyllis met with Patrick (the publicist played with surprising restraint by special guest star Bronson Pinchot), who suggested that a "rock star or an heiress or both" would be a great addition to the party. "I know Danny Romalotti," Phyllis volunteered tentatively. She went home and nervously left Danny a message. Nick was still glued to his computer later, but was briefly distracted when Adam stopped by to ask Phyllis for a crash course on HTML.
Victoria was disappointed to hear that Sabrina is leaving town — and that her friend has also given up on love. Vicky cited her own current luck in that area and encouraged her friend to keep her heart open. Sabrina invited her to come to L.A., but Victoria thinks it's best to stick around, alluding to Adam, who showed up just then to trade snark with the ladies. At the office, Adam asked Victor about Nick and Phyllis, noting that they both seem to be pretty good at their jobs. Victor gossiped about Nick and Phyllis's affair (calling Nick Adam's "stepbrother"), but didn't go so far as to say he entirely approved of the marriage. Victoria and Sabrina stopped by later. While Sabrina flirted in French while discussing art with Victor, Vicky was annoyed to learn that Adam signed off on the Beauty Of Nature campaign on her day off. She complained to Daddy, who diplomatically noted that Adam was just speaking his mind. Later, however, Victor sternly ordered Adam to consult with his half-sister in the future, warning that motherhood hasn't softened Victoria's business edge. At the same time, Sabrina urged Victoria not to let Adam get to her and Vicky finally agreed. "If he wants to play hardball, I learned from the best," she declared.
Gloria begged Jeffrey to give her another chance and not send her to jail. He put her "on probation" to see if she could really give her all to the marriage. Her first step? Celebrate in her husband's arms. Jack and John watched them from the staircase. John (who pointed out he's dead, so he can't really take issue with his wife making out with another guy) was disappointed to see Jack being so vindictive against poor Glo. Jack then interrupted the lovebirds; Gloria stepped away while Jack and Jeff discussed their plan to scare her out of the house. Later, Jeff was hesitant about having sex with Gloria in John's bed, but Jack laid down the law: "From that bed, you'll pull the first haunting." They all went back to put on a big show: Sharon and Jack pretended to argue about a sleepover for Noah (which conflicted with the schedule for who has the living room tonight), which ended with them deciding to move out. "A pox on you, Gloria! You are cursed!" spat Jack, dramatically storming off to pack. Jeffrey immediately pushed a triumphant Gloria to move into the master bedroom. After lots of hemming and hawing, Gloria reluctantly changed into her lingerie for their romantic evening. A brief flicker in the lights gave her pause; when she spotted a Keats book on the bed table, she freaked. It turns out John read it every night before he went to sleep — and he was buried with it.
