Young and Restless Recaps

Y&R Week of January 5, 2009

Monday

Victoria was perplexed as to why she and J.T. were invited to dinner at
Victor's house but she was thrilled when Abby answered the door. Victor was
pleased to have his house full of family. Alone with Ashley, Victoria
revealed her fears that Victor could slide back into depression but Ash
declared, "We won't let him." Victoria later shared her concerns with Victor
but he said that as along as she accepted his choices, there would be no
problems.

Knowing that Phyllis and Nick were out for the evening with Michael and
Lauren, Kevin told Jana they were breaking into the tack house to steal back
the $63,000. But once Mr. and Mrs. Fisher entered the home, they tripped the
security alarm. Jana posed as Phyllis on the phone and correctly guessed the password
(Summer). Kevin found where Noah hid the money but
before they could scat, Nick, Phyllis, Michael and Lauren returned. Kevin
and Jana hid in the closet. As the couples hunkered down with wine and beer,
Michael went to stash his coat in the closet and found his brother and Jana.
Michael then suggested to his friends and Lauren that they play a game with
blindfolds on and while Phyllis and Nick were blindfolded, Kevin and Jana
snuck out.

Knowing Billy was on his way over to discuss business with Cane, Chloe was
pleased when her husband left to go have dinner with Jill. Billy soon
arrived and they started reminiscing about their time together in New York
(like bad karaoke during a party at Drew Barrymore's house) but Chloe had a
hard time masking her jealousy when Lily called. Billy was then amazed when
he felt Chloe's baby kick. "She's amazing," he said in wonderment about the
little fighter.

Over dinner at the GCAC, Jill asked Cane to come work with her at Chancellor
Industries but he worried about helping out Chloe until the baby arrived.
Cane bristled when Jill suggested that he find some "common ground" with
Billy. "The little bastard yanked Jabot from underneath you," Cane reminded.
"If you trust him again, you will get hurt again." Cane later overheard Lily
tell Colleen that she is dating Billy. "He wants to have everything I had,
including you," Cane groused to Lily, who pointed out she can date whomever
she wants. Cane lamented to his mom about Lily's new date mate and Jill
hoped that the young girl would be a good influence on Billy. However, Jill
later warned Lily that Billy "wouldn't think twice about using someone to
get what he wants."

Wowed by the money they recovered, Jana bid good-bye to guilt, karma and
fear. Kevin was glad the old Jana was back but she corrected that she is
"new and improved." ... Jill was ambushed by a reporter who asked if her
mother's memoir was true. "Did you steal her husband? Did you really set her
up to take a fall? And do you really hate the old broad that much?" the
journalist wanted to know. Cane slugged him.... While Chloe daydreamed
about being married to Billy, Lily confronted him about why he's dating her.
Billy enthusiastically listed the reasons why he has flipped for Lily and
assured it isn't to get back at Cane. They started to make out and sank to
the sofa.

Tuesday

Sharon paid Victor a visit at Newman Enterprises and welcomed him back. Like
Victor, she hoped that Nick would continue to work at the company. After,
they discussed Noah; Sharon feared that she overreacts over Noah's sometimes
rebellious behavior, but Victor thought it was natural for her to be
concerned. Next, Sharon revealed that she and Jack were separated. "I'm
sorry if you're hurting, but I honestly think you and my grandson are better
off without him," Victor stated.

Meanwhile, Phyllis asked Nick if he gave Victor his notice for leaving
Newman. Nick replied that he still had some work to finish up. Phyllis
feared that Restless Stylewas flailing since their cover model was in an
accident. Phyllis then got a call that the press that printed the magazine
crashed. She pleaded with Nick to help her out and Victor hooked them up
with a new printer. Vic then asked Sharon and Nick to go to New York
together to do a presentation for Newman. Phyllis was less than thrilled to
hear about his travel plans. "It's just business," he explained. Phyllis
insisted that she wasn't worried about Sharon; she was concerned that she'd
again have to handle the magazine by herself. He was insulted when she
claimed that the magazine was a hobby for him. Later, Nick decided that he
was going to keep working both jobs. Phyllis was dubious that he could give
enough attention to both, but Nick was eager to work with his father again.
Phyllis warned him that in the past, he hadn't liked the way Victor had
treated him. However, Victor later assured Nick that Nick would have the
freedom to handle both jobs.

Jeffrey again visited Gloria in jail and informed her that her arraignment
was that morning. Glo hoped this meant she'd be getting released soon.
After, Gloria caught up with Katherine, who asked why Glo was in jail. "A
misunderstanding," Gloria replied, trying to evade the question. Kay kept
pushing for an answer; Gloria finally admitted that she was arrested for
product tampering and possibly manslaughter, but had been told not to
discuss the case by Michael. A miffed Kay suggested they not talk at all,
but was touched when Gloria stated that she believed Kay is well, Kay.

At Crimson Lights, Michael lectured Kevin about Kevin and Jana going through
Nick and Phyllis's home for the money. Kevin argued that the money was
really theirs since Jana had given it to River, and then Noah took it. He
reminded Kev that the money belonged in Kay's estate. Kevin dared Michael to
turn them in, but Michael simply suggested that his brother think about what
he'd done. Later, Michael questioned Eden about the money she and Noah found
and informed her that the cash was headed back to its rightful owner.

Also at the coffeehouse, Noah was busted when one of his friends noted that
Noah wasn't at a New Year's Eve party. Sharon realized that her son had been
with Eden that evening. Later, Noah lied to Phyllis about having to do
schoolwork and went to meet up with Eden to discuss the money. Sharon was
furious when she learned that Phyllis let him go; Phyll told her she needed
to loosen her "death grip." A furious Sharon demanded that Phyllis raise
Noah the way she and Nick want him raised. Phyllis retorted that she wanted
Sharon to remember that Nick isn't her husband.

Neil and Karen arrived at Newman hand in hand. The secretary welcomed them
as Mr. and Mrs. Winters. They were surprised to hear that Victor had
returned. Victor then revealed that he'd asked Nick to return, as well. Neil
had a hard time hiding his disappointment and was concerned that he'd now
take a back seat to Victor's children. Newman was determined to keep Neil
happy because he didn't want to lose him as an employee. Neil didn't want to
have to answer to Nick or Victoria.

Michael and Heather met up to discuss Gloria's case. Meanwhile, Gloria tried
to jog Kay's memories about the various boards Kay sat on and how she likes
to drink jasmine tea. Kay recalled it came from Crimson Lights. Later,
Gloria went to be arraigned. Michael informed her that the bail was set and
all she had to do was plead "Not guilty." Surprisingly, Gloria now didn't
seem to be so eager to leave the prison. However, she did plead not guilty ‹
only she complained about the judge taking her passport away. Her bail was
denied and she was returned to custody. Michael was shocked at his mother's
outburst.... Kevin visited Kay in jail and explained their connection. Kay
perked up when he mentioned that his mother is Gloria. She then remembered
leaving her money at Kevin's shop.

Wednesday

At the courthouse, Michael couldn't understand why Gloria almost seemed to
want to return to jail. "They acted like I was a common criminal," Gloria
shrugged. Michael wondered why he'd even bothered to help her out. After,
Jeffrey asked her why she screwed up her bail hearing. She refused to grant
him a divorce or give him her Jabot stock. Jeff vowed to find out what she's
up to. Later, Jeff asked Jack about Kay's look-alike; Jack recalled Marge
truing to take over her life.

Meanwhile at the jail, Kevin had a hard time believing that Katherine is
indeed Kay. Kay couldn't understand why he was so jaded. She pleaded with
him to help her out. Murphy then arrived to check on Kay. After, Kevin
questioned Murphy about Kay's identity, and Murphy filled him in on how
Kay's memory was still garbled and how Jill thought she was Marge. Murphy
was appalled by how everyone was treating his friend.

At Crimson Lights, Daniel urged Amber to stop obsessing over her belief that
Kevin killed Kay. They again argued over Kevin's innocence. Later, Phyllis
asked Daniel to pose for the next Restless Style cover, but he wasn't so
sure he wanted to. She pushed the idea by explaining that some of
the sales would go to charity, and he agreed to a test shoot. Daniel feared
that Phyllis wanted to put him on the cover so he'd hear from a lot of
girls, and then Amber would want to break up with him. Phyllis assured him
that she wasn't trying to break them up.

Meanwhile, Kevin returned and informed Amber that Kay was alive and in jail.
Amber didn't believe him. Michael soon arrived and Kevin told him about
Katherine. Michael concluded that this was why Glo wanted to remain in jail,
but wasn't sure the woman was really Kay. Kevin revealed that it was Kay
because she knew about the money he'd taken. Michael believed that the woman
and her friend Murphy were con artists.... Amber had a fantasy about sharing
a happy reunion with an alive Kay. "You bastard!" she called Kevin when she
snapped out of it. Kevin again insisted that he'd really seen Kay, but Amber
thought he was playing a sick joke. Murphy later stopped by the coffeehouse
and asked if Kevin knew a lawyer for Kay. Kevin didn't think Michael would
be interested, but offered Murphy some coffee.

Jill informed Victor that she was going to work on their "project." She then
paid Jack a visit at Jabot and suggested that he make sure he takes control
of Jabot over Ashley so the company would have one clear leader. Jack
reminded her that Jabot is an Abbott family venture, but Jill continued to
butter him up. Jack caught on to what she was doing and stated that she's
not going to divide the empire.

Jill stopped by Crimson Lights and chatted with Michael about Kay's
"imposter." Michael was surprised to learn about the Marge saga.... Kevin
decided to give Murphy Kay's money. Murphy was shocked. Kevin suggested he
use the money to get Kay out of jail. Murphy suspected that something
illegal was going on, but Kevin explained that his motives were pure.
However, Kevin did ask to remain an anonymous donor.... Daniel informed
Amber that he's going to wear one of her designs for his cover, but Amber
wasn't very enthusiastic. She was too focused on Kevin's claim that Kay was
alive.... Kevin went to the bookstore to pick up a copy of Kay's memoir. He
stood in front of a sign for another memoir being sold and called Jana to
share the news about Katherine.

At the Abbott mansion, Jeff asked Jill about Kay's doppelganger. She became
angry as she discussed Marge.... At the jail, Gloria admitted to Kay that
she wanted to stay in jail so she could help jog Kay's memories.... Jeff
asked the Jabot secretary to research Marge for him.... Murphy returned to
the jail to have Kay released. After, Gloria begged the guard to let her
talk to the judge about her own blown hearing, explaining that her outburst
was a "joke."... Kevin returned to the coffeehouse and continued to push
Amber about Kay, but Amber wouldn't listen and stormed out. Meanwhile,
Murphy took a free Kay to the bookstore. Jeff spied them there and watched
the pair with interest.

Michael and Paul discussed the Gibson lawsuit against Jabot and Jack.
Meanwhile, Jack asked Jill to help him out with the Gibson case. Later,
Gloria warned Jack that with Kay being alive, they could lose her shares and
thus lose Jabot. She asked Jack to get her released from jail. Jill and Jack
were appalled that Gloria would ask for help; Jack wasn't planning to give
it to her.

Thursday

At Crimson Lights, Nikki and Paul discussed how much they miss Katherine.
Paul informed her about Kay's look-alike showing up at the Chancellor
Estate. After, Nikki was upset when Paul revealed that he's working on
Gloria's case to see if there was reasonable doubt. Nikki then apologized for
snapping at him.

At the jail, Gloria asked to make a call but was told that she's used up her
phone privileges. Glo lamented that she was stuck in jail while Kay was now
free. Gloria kept pestering the guard for the time and hoped that Jack would
really come to help her out. She then correctly realized that he had no
intention of springing her from the joint. Glo offered to do all the
chores for one of the other women if that prisoner made a call for her. The
prisoner agreed and called Jeff. Jeff replied that he's busy and can't come
to see Gloria.

At the bookstore, Kay and Murphy looked through copies of Kay's memoirs to
find something that proved she really is Katherine. Everyone
watched them with curiosity as they did so — including Jeffrey, who was
lurking about the shop. After, Jill came by and grumbled about the memoir.
She was surprised to see Jeff there and wondered if he was following her.
Later, Murphy slipped up and called Kay "Marge" again, and mourned his late
friend. Kay asked if she could stay "Marge" for a while longer until her
life got straightened out. Murphy agreed that this was a good idea. Later,
Kay read the memoir and was shocked by all the things she's lived through —
and couldn't remember. "It's like I'm reading about a fictional character,"
she marveled, but as she read, she began to have some flashbacks about the
events. She also wondered if she and Marge had been friends... and why her
"friend" Gloria wasn't mentioned at all. Jill went to the coffeehouse and
ran into Nikki and Paul. The ladies exchanged barbs about how badly Jill was
portrayed in Kay's memoir, but both were concerned about "Marge" being
back. Kay decided that she needed to speak with Nikki since the book said
that Nikki was her best friend.

Jeff went to see Gloria after all and told her about seeing Kay at the
bookstore. He cracked up when Glo confessed that she'd thrown her bail
hearing so she could spend more time with the Kay look-alike in jail. Jeff
wanted in on whatever scheme Gloria and the "imposter" were cooking up, but
Glo suspected that the woman really is Kay. They realized that if Kay's
alive then her will is invalid and Gloria wouldn't get to keep the Jabot
stock. Jeffrey agreed to keep an eye on Kay for her.

Ashley stopped by the Newman Enterprises offices to visit Victor. He was
pleased to see her, and presented her with a catered
lunch. She would've been happy with a
sandwich, said Ashley. After, she left to meet Olivia. Victor then called Jill
and asked her to meet him at the ranch. Ashley ran
into Paul and Nikki at Crimson Lights. Nikki was surprised to hear that Abby
was living at the ranch with Ashley and Victor. Ashley reminded her that Abby is Victor's
daughter. After, Nikki admitted to Paul that it's a little weird for her to
see Victor with this instant family after everything that had happened with
him the past year. She was concerned that Ashley didn't know what she was
getting herself into. Meanwhile, Ashley gushed to Olivia about how happy she
is with Victor.

Jill met up with Victor and they discussed Kay and the memoir. Jill was
upset that Kay made her out to be such a monster. Victor didn't think
Katherine wanted to hurt her, but Jill didn't agree. After, they toasted to
their plan to bring down Jack.

Sharon came by the Abbott mansion to see Jack and asked if he'd thought
about getting a therapist to help him with his "sex addiction." He said he
hadn't. She then informed him that she knows someone who can help him and
suggested he give the therapist a call. He didn't want to, but Sharon pushed
the idea and offered to call on his behalf. She did, and the therapist
agreed to come over right away. Jack couldn't believe that a therapist would
make house calls, but Sharon explained that the woman believed her patients
were more comfortable talking in their own homes. When Sharon stepped away,
a desperate Jack went online to look up the symptoms of a true sex addict.
Soon, the therapist came by and questioned Jack about his behavior, but he
couldn't fake being a patient. "I'm sorry, I can't do this," he stated. When
he stepped away, Sharon confided in the therapist about her and Jack's
marital problems. Jack interrupted and told the therapist that he never did
cheat on Sharon. He then confessed to Sharon that he's not really a sex
addict — and that the truth was even worse. He explained that he and Adam
were at the hotel together because they were working on forging Victor's
diary. Sharon was stunned, to say the least. Jack moved closer to her,
stating that they would get through this, but Sharon shoved him away. "I
will not listen to you anymore!" she yelled. "You lie to my face over and
over again. I am married to a man who wouldn't know the truth if it hit him
in the face!" Jack begged for another chance. "You never change, Jack,"
Sharon said. "I'm going to file for divorce." Ouch! Sharon stormed out. Jack
looked as if someone had punched him in the stomach.

Friday

At the bookstore, Cane posed with the life-sized cut-out of Katherine and
did a press conference about doing a tribute to his "late" grandmother. The
reporter then questioned him about Billy taking over Jabot. Cane gave a
sound bite about how he feels "blessed" about Billy taking charge. The
reporter then asked Billy how he felt about the memoir; Billy praised it. He
was then asked why he joined the Jabot takeover. Billy explained that the
company belonged to the Abbotts. Cane maintained a fake smile throughout the
exchange. Later, the brothers squared off over Lily. Cane warned him that
Lily would soon realize what a "bastard" Billy is. The guys began hitting
and punching each other.

At Crimson Lights, Kevin boasted to Michael about doing his good deed and
about giving Kay a chance at her old life again. Meanwhile, Katherine, who
was now free from jail thanks to the money Kevin gave Murphy, planned to
track down Nikki so she could learn more about her life. She learned that
Nikki worked for Restless Style and planned to reach her that way. Kay and
Murphy celebrated the fact that she'd soon get her life back.... Michael
feared that the people Kevin gave the money to were con artists, but Kevin
was certain that the woman was Kay. Michael wasn't so sure. Later, Murphy
came by and returned the money that he hadn't needed for Kay's bail. Michael
then approached Murphy and offered to represent Kay, but was still dubious
about Murphy's intentions.

At Restless Style, Phyllis tried to dress Daniel in a bright green shirt for
the cover, but Daniel and Nikki agreed that the look wouldn't work for him.
After, Amber arrived with one of her designs for Daniel.... In New York,
Nick and Sharon prepared for their meeting with their client. Nick then
called Phyllis and told her that he was going to be in New York longer than
he anticipated. Amber then presented Phyllis with her outfit for Daniel;
Phyllis, who was already in a bad mood, declared it to be ugly.... Sharon
got in touch with Michael and told him that she's divorcing Jack. He agreed
to be her lawyer.

Back in New York, the client loved hearing the details of Nick and Sharon's
colorful relationship, and wanted to know all about how they met. They
recalled how they sensed a connection the very first time they saw each
other. They then flashed back to when he proposed to Sharon, when he showed
her their new home and when Noah was born. Later, Sharon and Nick got rooms
across from each other at the hotel. Sharon praised Nick for doing well
during their meeting and informed him that she's leaving Jack.

At the magazine, Daniel was dressed for the cover in a bright red shirt...
and his hair was done up in a pompadour. He finally went and did his shoot —
wearing the jacket Amber gave him.

Kay visited Nikki, who was shocked to see her pal back from the dead. "You
of all people should recognize me," Kay stated, insisting that she really is
Kay. Nikki was shaken and couldn't believe it, but suddenly embraced Kay.
"Please let it be true, please let it really be you," she cried. Nikki
invited Kay in for coffee and kept going on about how she saw Kay's dead
body. Kay explained that she thinks the woman who died was really Marge and
that her memory is still not entirely back. She admitted that the only
reason why she knows anything about Nikki is because she read about it in
the memoir. Kay begged Nikki for her help then said, "Dear God in heaven,"
which Kay said all the time. But Nikki didn't really believe that Kay was
Kay and called "Marge," a "sick, cruel, uncaring bitch." Nikki handed
"Marge" a check so she'd leave Kay's loved ones alone. Kay was stunned. "Get
out!" Nikki yelled. "I'm really sorry," Kay said as she left, dropping the
check on the floor in front of Nikki. Before departing, she gave Nikki one
last look. Later, Murphy happily informed Kay that Michael wants to be her
lawyer, but Kay was distraught over Nikki not believing her. Meanwhile,
Nikki flashed back to happier times in her friendship with Kay.... After
Amber spied Kevin going ballistic over the plumbing problems at the
coffeehouse, she again concluded that he was crazy enough to have killed Kay
and called to report him as a murderer.
