Young and Restless Recaps

Y&R Week of January 14, 2008

Monday

At the GCAC, Maggie beat it so Paul and April could have some one-on-one
time. April asked her ex why he had to inform Heather of her true paternity.
"I think it's important for her to know who her father is," he declared but
Heather called and asked her mother to meet her at Crimson Lights — sans
Paul. April left and Maggie returned to advise Paul to "take it slow" with
his daughter. Paul and Maggie then heard David having an angry conversation
on his cell. "I don't have the money," David raged. "How many times do I
have to say that before it finally sinks in? So back off! I'm getting sick
and tired of you pushing me." Paul asked Mr. Chow if everything was okay and
David claimed he was upset about a business call.

After hearing about Heather's meeting with Jana, Kevin was hopeful that his
girlfriend would be freed. "This is really, really good news," he chirped to
Jana while visiting her in jail, but she was afraid to get her hopes up.
Meanwhile, at Crimson Lights, Adrian got upset when he heard that Heather
suggested that Colleen write a letter to support Jana's cause. "I am never
gonna be okay with your taking Jana's side," Adrian huffed.

J.T. tattled to Nikki that he observed David having a heated argument with a
stranger the night before. Nikki later asked David about it at home and he
claimed he was confronted by a nosy reporter. Nikki bought his story and
even thanked him. Nikki then tried to pay some bills but found out that
Victor had frozen all of her assets.

J.T. got a call from the hospital that Reed's condition had changed. A
worried J.T. rushed over to find out that they were taking his son off the
respirator because his lungs were doing so well.

At the coffeehouse, Daniel asked Heather out to dinner but before she could
answer, April showed up. Heather made introductions and Daniel left them
alone. "The last thing that I need is parental drama, which is exactly what
you'll create by being here," Heather complained. "Honestly, I wish that
Paul never told me he's my father." April apologized for not telling her
daughter sooner, then urged Heather to "just walk away from all of this.
Come home with me. Get away from Paul." Heather refused so April advised
Heather to "rethink" things with Paul if she was going to stay. Heather
insisted that he would have to earn her forgiveness.

Jeffrey pressured Gloria to choose their honeymoon destination but she
reminded him that they needed to prolong their engagement because Michael
was very suspicious. Jeff announced that he already talked to his future
stepson who now knows Glo is being blackmailed. "We're getting married.
Now!" Jeff demanded. Defeated, Gloria suggested they elope in Las Vegas so
Jeffrey ran off to book their flight. Glo tracked down Kevin and told him
about her elopement plans. She stressed to Kevin to come up with a scheme to
frame Jeffrey for her attempted murder by the time they come back from
Vegas.

At their apartment, Michael fumed to Lauren that Jeffrey confirmed he was
blackmailing Gloria. Michael thought about finding some dirt on Jeff. "I
wonder if William kept a journal, diary, something," said Michael. Later,
Gloria told her son she was going on a "business trip" but he didn't believe
her and decided to follow her.

Tuesday

At the GCAC, Sharon filled in Jack about her upcoming trip to Chicago to
promote her a new product line. Jack revealed that he was meeting with
Gloria to discuss John's inheritance. Sharon was pleased and kissed him.
After, they ran into Brad, who wished Sharon a good trip. Brad then went and
confirmed his flight to Chicago. Colleen later found her dad's flight
itinerary and was upset to learn Brad was following Sharon. Brad admitted
that he was going down there to surprise her, and not for business reasons.
Colleen urged him not to go.... Ghost John visited Jack and was pleased when
Jack informed him that he was starting a foundation in his name. However,
Ghost John feared that Jack was creating the foundation in order to keep
Sharon around and control her.

At the coffeehouse, Daniel searched online for a new job. Amber joined him
and tried to help. Soon, Jill, Katherine and Cane arrived and Amber served
them. She overheard them discussing the "Fresh Face of Jabot" contest and
was curious. Jill was relieved that Amber wasn't eligible to enter, but
Amber continued to pester them for information on it. After, Amber crowed to
Daniel how she might win the contest as "Marina." Daniel wondered what she'd
do if she is found out.... Daniel asked Heather out, but she turned him
down. After, Amber told him that he was trying too hard. Later, Cane
overheard Amber mention "Marina," and she lied that Marina is a friend of
hers. Amber also lied that since she couldn't compete in the contest, she
wanted Lily to win.

Nikki visited her grandson Reed at the hospital and cooed over the baby.
Meanwhile, in the lobby David approached Victor to discuss Nikki's loan, but
Victor told him to back off and make sure Nikki pays him. After, Nikki and
Victor argued over David and her money. Nikki reminded him that she owned
NVP. "Not much longer, I assure you," Victor spat back. Later at home, David
urged Nikki to leave him so Victor wouldn't take everything away from her.
Nikki refused to bow to Victor's demands and declared her love for David.
She then told David that she'd like to marry him.

Heather met with her boss at the GCAC and told him that she'd compiled a lot
of evidence to prove Victor killed Ji Min. Her boss told her to find a
witness and that she couldn't lose the case. She promised to win it. On the
way out, she ran into Victor. He warned her that she's committing career
suicide if she pursues the case. She refused to back down.

Colleen paid Jack a visit and warned him about Brad following Sharon to
Chicago. In Chicago, Sharon was shocked when Brad turned up at her hotel
room.

Wednesday

Jack was tempted to check up on Sharon, but decided to trust his wife and
didn't make the call. John's ghost taunted his son about what could be
happening between Sharon and Brad at that very moment and Jack's faith in
his marriage got a little shakier. He tried calling Sharon's cell phone but
got her voicemail.

"You forgot some important materials for the presentation tomorrow," Brad
claimed for the reason he showed up at Sharon's hotel room. She saw right
through his ruse, so Brad proclaimed his love and that they belong together.
He was crushed when Sharon explained, "I don't think that I ever really
loved you.... Not in the same way that you say you love me.... I think I
needed you more than I loved you." Sharon then affirmed that she loved Jack
"with all my heart" and that she and Brad needed to make a "clean break."
The ex lovers then said a final good-bye. After Brad left, Sharon called Jack
and confessed that Brad had visited her. "He just wanted something that I
can't give him anymore," she said.

David was stunned then thrilled that Nikki accepted his proposal. " Nikki
Chow?" she ruminated. "We'll have to talk about that last name." But it was
Nikki's turn to be surprised when David suggested that she sell NVP to
Victor and drop her lawsuit. "Selling NVP would cut the last remaining
material tie that you have to Victor," David pointed out and Nikki finally
agreed it was the right thing to do.

Victor ordered Neil to have the lawyers draw up his countersuit against
Nikki. "I want my wife to be served first thing in the morning," Vic
growled. Nick later found the documents and was appalled at what lengths his
father was undertaking to bring Nikki down. "I tried appealing to you as
your son, as someone who cares about you, who cares about mom and this
family, and I am asking you please stop," Nick begged, but Victor vehemently
blamed Nikki. When an exasperated Nick said he didn't want to be anything
like his father, Victor fired him! "If you can't support me, and be loyal to
me, and be the son that I want you to be, then you have no place in this
company," Vic yelled but before walking out, Nick said that his dad would be
totally alone. Victor fumed that he didn't "need any of you!"

Cane dropped by Neil's apartment to deliver papers for a meeting. Neil
wasn't home so Cane visited with Lily. Neil and Karen showed up and he
wasn't happy to find Cane with his daughter. Neil walked the Aussie to he
elevator and warned, "You better not bring your physical relationship into
my home." Lily told Karen that Neil's protectiveness was "getting on my
nerves." Lily then announced it was time for her to move out.

Nick warned his mother of Victor's nasty countersuit. "It's going to strip
you of everything," Nick lamented.

Thursday

Michael told Lauren he was upset that Gloria hadn't been answering her cell.
Michael was also on edge by Victor's demands." He is arrogant,
self-centered, opinionated, uncommunicative," Mike groused.

Kevin and Colleen were busy organizing a Free Jana Hawkes rally outside the
courthouse. Heather showed up and revealed that she and the D.A. have
reviewed all the information. "The district attorney's office is going to
withdraw any criminal charges against Jana Hawkes," Heather announced. Kevin
was thrilled to hear that his girlfriend would be released that day and
headed for the prison. Not surprisingly, Jana was overjoyed by the news and
misted up. "This from the only person I know who is as jaded and cynical and
potentially manipulative as I am?" quipped Kevin. Jana changed into her
street clothes and walked out a free woman.

Daniel praised Heather for having a heart where Jana was concerned but Ms.
Stevens claimed it was a "practical" decision. Michael showed up and argued
to Heather that the videotape of Victor was reconstructed and wouldn't hold
up in court. "I suggest that you drop the charges," Baldwin advised — Heather refused.

Nikki informed David of Victor's intentions to counter sue her. Nikki read
over the terms of Victor's suit and was infuriated that her husband even
wanted the return of her jewelry and couture gowns. "He wants the clothes
off my back," she complained, then tried to reason with Victor. "You started
this war," he said gruffly. "You wanted it. You've got one now." Nikki
suggested they drop their lawsuits and Victor buy NVP but he turned her
down.

Victor ignored Nick as he packed up his office. After hearing about Nikki's
run-in with Victor, Katherine urged her to take him to court as soon as
possible. Kay was surprised to find out that Victor had fired his own son.
Kay later tried to convince Victor to stop being so vindictive but he curtly
explained, "I have a wife and a son and a family that defies me every step
of the way, they have to suffer the consequences.... I love you, but I don't
want to discuss this anymore."

Jana and Kevin were greeted by a surprise welcome back party for her at
Crimson Lights. Kevin confirmed that they could live together and she work
again at the coffee house.... Amber learned that the Fresh Face of Jabot
contest had been narrowed down to eight contestants.... Michael informed
Victor that there is supposedly a witness "who can corroborate the evidence
on the tape showing you leaving Ji Min's room." Victor ordered Michael to
prove his innocence or he will hire another lawyer.

Friday

Jack announced to Sharon that a private jet was waiting to whisk them off to
the Bahamas in one hour. A surprised Sharon said that wasn't even enough
time for her to pack but Jack took already care of that. "I went to Lauren,
asked her to put together the best of Fenmore's resort collection," he
explained.

At Insomnia, Daniel was bummed when he got turned down for a job as a photo
assistant, while Amber hoped that "Marina" would be announced as one of the
Jabot contest finalists that day via a web cast. Nearby, Lily admitted to
Cane that she was nervous about the contest and doubted she made the cut.
Neil showed up and learned that his daughter entered the contest. "Your
mother, may she rest in peace, would want you to get an education," Neil
admonished. "Don't tell me that you're going to throw all that away for a
career in modeling." Lily pointed out that she didn't know what she wanted
out of life yet, then realized her dad didn't really approve of Cane.

On the day of Nikki and Victor's divorce hearing, Nick paid his dad a visit.
Victor once gave his son a plaque with an encouraging quote by Franklin
Roosevelt on it but Nick was giving it back because "You need it more than I
do."

Nikki readied herself for her divorce hearing. "After today, this whole
thing will be over," she sighed to David. Nick called and asked his mother
to come by Newman Enterprises and try one last time to settle things with
Victor. David advised her not to but Nikki reluctantly agreed and showed up
at Victor's office. He wasn't happy to see her. "Isn't there some way we can
settle this without more bloodshed?" Nikki asked but Victor charged that her
affair with David is at the core of their problems. Nikki proposed that they
drop their lawsuits, he get NVP and she keeps her assets. "I will see you in
court this afternoon," Victor ranted. "I suggest you bring your checkbook."

As Nick comforted Nikki, David took a phone call in private. "I'll have an
answer for you by tonight," he testily informed the caller. "I'm very well
aware of how much money I owe you." Meanwhile, Nick advised his mom to help
her case by not bringing David in the courtroom with her but she maintained
that she needed his support.

Lily and Marina were announced as among the finalists.... Sharon was excited
as she and Jack settled in their hotel room in the Bahamas.... Over the
phone with Phyllis, Nick predicted that his parents divorce hearing would be
the "ugliest battle yet." ... As Victor watched, Nikki visited Reed in the
hospital for encouragement.
