Young and Restless Recaps

Y&R Week of January 12, 2009

Monday

At Crimson Lights, Lily and Cane ran into each other. Things were awkward at first, but then they became more relaxed as they chatted about their lives. However, things became tense again when he revealed that they'd gotten into a fist-fight and he'd punched Billy. Cane again reminded her to be careful around his brother.

Billy stopped by the Abbott mansion to see Jack. Jack sadly told his brother that Sharon wants a divorce. He then noticed Billy's black eye. Billy lied about how he got it, but Jack realized that it was Cane who gave him the shiner. Billy tried to get Jack to open up about Sharon, but Jack didn't want to talk about it. Jack then asked Billy if he has any misgivings about keeping the paternity of Chloe's baby secret; Billy was confident that he was doing the right thing by keeping quiet about the fact that he's the father. Jack also didn't think it was a good idea for Billy to be dating Cane's ex, Lily. Later, Lily joined Devon for coffee and they discussed Cane
and Billy. Lily admitted that she's not acting like "herself" with Billy, which made her a little nervous.

At Restless Style, Phyllis grumbled about Nick being in New York with Sharon. She became anxious as she tried to call Nick and he didn't pick up. He finally did and Phyllis could hear over the line that he and Sharon were out to brunch together. Phyllis became passive aggressive as she complained about all the work she had to do, but then told Nick he didn't need to come home when he offered to. However, he insisted and Sharon supported him. Meanwhile, Phyllis called Brad and informed him of Sharon and Jack's impending divorce. She suggested he go to New York to be with Sharon. After, Brad kept thinking back to his brief relationship with Sharon.... Nick questioned Sharon about what went wrong with Jack.

Billy and Cane arrived at Restless Style for their photo shoots for the "Men We Love" issue. Jack came, too, so he could keep an eye on Phyllis. Cane and Billy were less than thrilled to see the other there. Phyllis also wasn't happy to see Jack there. She assured him that she wasn't trying to stir up trouble by having the brothers there at the same time. She then expressed her sympathies about Jack's impending divorce with Sharon, and informed him that Nick was with Sharon. Later, Jack called Sharon and asked if she told Nick about him forging Victor's diary. Sharon replied that she was keeping Jack's secret safe because she doesn't want to hurt Nick's family or Noah.... Phyllis and Chloe planned the set-ups for the guys' shoots. Chloe suggested they play on the brothers' rivalry and shoot Cane and Billy at odds with each other. Phyllis loved the idea. The guys then changed into boxing gear — shorts and no shirt. Phyllis implored them not to really engage in physical contact. Cut to a photo montage as Cane and Billy fake
sparred! Chloe and Phyllis enjoyed the show. After, Chloe questioned Billy about his fight with Cane; he explained that Cane was defending Chloe's honor.

After the shoot, Billy met with Lily at the coffeehouse. She confessed that she had some reservations about their relationship; he was surprisingly understanding. She asked if they could "keep things chill" and not be too serious. He responded by kissing her.... Chloe thanked Cane for standing up for her with Billy. Cane explained that he did so since she's the mother of his child.

Phyllis invited Jack to pose for the issue. Jack agreed. However, he
believed that Nick would eventually see the "real" devious Phyllis. Later, Jack did his Sinatra-inspired shoot for the magazine.

Sharon was surprised to "run into" Brad in New York. She couldn't believe that they coincidentally bumped into each other. Nick returned and explained that his flight home was cancelled. He was shocked to see Brad there.

Tuesday

At Restless Style, Jack and Phyllis traded barbs about his impending divorce from Sharon. Jack wondered why she wasn't more worried about Nick and Sharon being alone in New York and suspected that she was up to something. After, she got a call from Nick informing her that he's not coming home as soon as he planned because his flight was cancelled. Nick then told her that Brad was there.... and had said that the reason he was in New York was because of Phyllis. Uh-oh. Phyllis stammered about how she could've mentioned that he and Sharon were in New York on business, then hastily ended the conversation. Meanwhile, Sharon asked Brad if Phyllis sent him there; Brad confirmed that Phyllis told him about the divorce and where to find Sharon. Brad reminded her that he'd go anywhere to be there for her. Sharon was
furious, especially over the fact that he'd teamed up with Phyllis. Brad apologized. "Maybe you just showed your true colors," Sharon sighed. Brad the told her and Nick that Phyllis was the one who broke up Jack and Sharon's marriage.

At the jail, Rafe met with Adam to discuss Adam's case. Adam was confident that Victor would get him out of prison, but Rafe wasn't so sure. In fact, he told Adam, Victor was listed as the first witness for the prosecution. Meanwhile, Heather met with Victor at the GCAC to talk about the case; she wanted to offer Adam a deal rather than taking it to trial. Soon Ashley and Abby joined them. Ash was surprised when Abby shared that Victor gave her an
elaborate gift — a new horse. Victor then resumed discussing the case with Heather and was confident that Jack was involved in the forged diary. He implored her to prosecute Abbott. Later, Ashley worried that Victor went overboard in giving Abby a horse, but Victor was happy to dote on his daughter.

Jack questioned Phyllis about why Brad seemed to keep popping up everywhere and concluded that she had something to do with Brad being in New York. Phyllis denied it, but Jack was sure that she sent Carlton there. He blamed her for being part of the reason his marriage to Sharon collapsed. He was furious with her for being in cahoots with Brad and had let his and Phyllis's business rivalry affect their personal lives. "I expected you to go for the jugular, and instead you went for the heart," he cried. Meanwhile, Nick was upset over Phyllis's actions and couldn't understand why
she did this. "I warned you, Jack," she snapped. "I told you to take care of your marriage. You lied to your wife over and over. I needed to protect myself against Sharon going after my husband yet again after you screwed things up." "Is your marriage in that kind of trouble," Jack taunted. Phyllis replied that her marriage was none of his business, then exploded at him for ruining his marriage to Sharon and putting Sharon in Nick's path. Still, Phyllis was confident that Nick loved her.... In New York, Sharon could understand why Phyllis did what she did, noting that she and Nick do share an intense connection. Nick was still angry with his wife.

Eden and Noah met at Crimson Lights, where Noah told her how excited he was to have Abby back home. Eden then mocked a young woman all dressed in riding clothes ... who was, of course, Abby. They shared an awkward greeting. Abby then joined them and showed off her horse photos. Eden noted that several people could be fed with the amount of money the horse cost. Needless to
say, Eden and Abby did not get off to a very good start.

Heather paid Adam a visit and informed him that a deal for him was being put on the table. Adam still held out hope that Victor would get him released. Heather informed him that Victor wanted to make sure that any deal they made would include jail time for Adam. She offered a deal where he'd stay in jail for 18 months. Heather explained that she didn't want the case to go to trial, and that if it did, he'd probably do an even longer stint in jail. She called the deal "a gift." Adam reluctantly accepted it.

Meanwhile, Victor told Ashley that he hoped Adam accepted his terms. Ashley didn't understand how he could purchase expensive gifts for one of his children and send another to prison. "Adam set me up for murder. Do you expect me to buy him a present?" Victor asked. Later, Victor asked Abby to call him "Dad." Ashley didn't know how to respond to that.

Brad called Phyllis and informed her that he told Nick and Sharon everything about her scheming. "How could you do something so stupid?" she asked. She hung up, the worry evident on her face. Phyllis then called Nick.... and Sharon answered the phone. Phyllis wondered why she picked up. "We're on our way home," Sharon told her flatly, then coldly hung up on Phyllis.

Wednesday

Lauren accompanied Michael to see Katherine at Murphy's place. He still wasn't sure the woman was really a back-from-the-dead Kay, but explained to Lauren that he wanted to represent her to see if it really was Kay. Kay thought she remembered Lauren, but couldn't quite place Lauren's face. Kay then said she felt at home in the trailer and made her guests tea. Michael had a difficult time believing that Kay would ever call a trailer "home." He planned to have a DNA test done. He wondered why she hadn't seen a specialist about her lost memories; she explained that she didn't have the money or insurance. Kay then asked Michael if he believed her; all he said was that he'd make sure the DNA test was done. Kay told him that she needs him to believe her if he wants to be her lawyer. "I want my life back," she stated. "I lived it, I earned it and I want it back!" Later, Murphy told Kay that her bail money came from Kevin. Katherine wanted to go thank him.... Lauren believed that the woman they saw is Kay, but Michael still wasn't
totally convinced.

Meanwhile, at Crimson Lights, Kevin and Jana discussed Kay's return, while Amber approached Detective Wallace and informed him that Kevin was responsible for a murder. Wallace didn't think she had much of a case. Jana was understanding when Kevin told her that he returned the money to Kay so it could be used for her bail. Later, Kevin and Amber argued over her accusations. Kay then entered the coffeehouse and Amber fainted. A freaked-out Kay left and decided to stay away from everyone she used to
know. Amber awakened and couldn't believe she'd seen Katherine.

Chloe and Cane went to the bookstore where they joked about buying health-conscious Esther a new cookbook. Things became awkward when they ran into a very lovey-dovey Billy and Lily. Later, Lily and Cane shared a moment as they chatted about a movie they'd both seen. Meanwhile, Billy caught Chloe looking online to see what the significance was of "Sonny Crawford," the
alias Billy had originally used with Lily. After, Chloe met with a
businessman named Roger whom she wanted to set up with her mom. When he was alone, Roger made a call to a mystery person about getting in with the Chancellors.

At Restless Style, Phyllis was haunted by Brad's revelation that he'd told Nick and Sharon about Phyllis's schemes to hook up Brad and Sharon. After, she tried to explain to Nick why she'd sent Brad to be there for Sharon. "You know me, you're married to me and I'm going to do anything to protect my marriage," Phyllis reminded him. "That's who I am and I'm not going to apologize for that." She then went into detail about how she'd helped break up Jack and Sharon and then sent Brad in to pick up the pieces. Nick was furious. "There's no way in hell I'm going to let you off the hook," he said. Phyllis didn't understand why he was so angry with her and reminded him of how he'd kissed Sharon. He accused her of being paranoid. Phyllis didn't regret recruiting Brad to help her and accused him of being upset mainly because another man was in Sharon's path. "It's you. I am with you, I love you," he insisted. "And then you go and pull this garbage." Phyllis noted that they're together because he cheated on Sharon and that yes, she is paranoid that he'll cheat again .... or worse yet, fall in love with
Sharon again. Nick insisted that he loves Phyllis. She pointed out that he and Sharon have a lifetime of memories that she and Nick don't have. They again argued over his and Sharon's kiss in Paris. Phyllis didn't think Sharon would ever be out of their lives. Nick informed her that Sharon had told Nick to take it easy on her. "Sharon's so sweet, yay for Sharon!" Phyllis cried sarcastically, then asked if Nick thinks she's a bitch. "You're just scared," he said. He promised that their marriage is forever, then left to be with Summer. Phyllis promptly called Brad and warned him that he'd regret crossing her.

Thursday

"Do you know how many cinder blocks are in my cell?" a bored Gloria asked Jana and Kevin, who were visiting her in jail. She then complained about how bad her karma is. They then talked about Kay and Kevin said he believed she really is Mrs. Chancellor. Glo was shocked to hear that Kevin gave Kay her
bail money. She was also upset at the thought that if Kay were really alive, Gloria would lose the stock left to her in Kay's will.

Paul and Nikki embraced and smooched.... just as Michael walked into their home. He promised to keep their romance quiet. Michael then got a call from Lauren, informing him that the ashram was shut down. Lauren met up with Eden at Crimson Lights and told her the news; Eden was upset to hear that her old home was gone. Meanwhile, Paul and Michael discussed Gloria's case. Paul revealed that a contact of his caught up with Andrew Gibson and learned that Gibson's late wife (the one who'd allegedly died from the tainted cream) had had a child with another man, which caused tensions in the marriage. Nikki and Michael argued over whether Glo deserved the benefit of the doubt. Nikki firmly believed that Gloria deserved to be punished.

At home, Neil took photos of Karen and Ana. Neil promised to teach Ana how to dance. She called them the "greatest." Neil and Karen agreed that they enjoyed caring for the little girl and acting like parents. After, they brought Ana to Indigo so Tyra could "just happen" to run into her daughter. Tyra admired the new dress that Karen had gotten for Ana for the Father/Daughter Dance at school. Neil shared a dance with Tyra in order to show Ana the steps, which made Karen a little uncomfortable. Later, Karen suggested to Neil that they adopt Ana. Neil wasn't so eager to do it. Meanwhile, Tyra wondered to Devon and Lily if she should return to Seattle, but they encouraged her to stay and fight for her daughter. After, Lily and Devon debated over who should really be raising Ana.... Tyra freaked out when the idea of the adoption was brought up. Karen noted that if they adopted her, no one would ever be able to take Ana away again. Karen urged Tyra to put Ana's needs ahead of her own.

Paul and Nikki talked about the woman who'd visited her and whether or not she really was Kay. Nikki became upset just mentioning this person whom she believed was an imposter. Paul informed her that Michael was defending Kay and he was helping Baldwin. Nikki was horrified. He explained that it's his job to get to the truth. She begged him to not take the case. He agreed to
tell Michael he's not available.

Michael met up with Lauren and the coffeehouse and angrily stated that River brought nothing good into their lives. A furious Eden stormed off after overhearing the conversation. Michael called and left a message, apologizing.

At Murphy's trailer, Katherine got dressed for her shift — well, Marge's shift — at the diner. Murphy was surprised that she was going to work, but Kay noted that she didn't have another choice. She admitted that she likes living Marge's life. At the diner, Pearl greeted her warmly and gave Kay a belated Christmas gift ‹ a bowling shirt. Kay was surprised to learn that
Marge was a great bowler. Kay admitted to Murphy that she felt bad deceiving Pearl and the others at the diner into thinking she's Marge. He was confident that her life would be straightened out soon.

Michael paid Gloria a visit and she blamed River for being the reason she was in jail.... Kevin told Eden that Michael is the best brother she could ask for. Eden calmed down and joined him, Jana and Lauren at the coffeehouse. Eden wondered if River would ever return. Cut to River ... now disguised as a priest!

Friday

Jill and Cane dined at GCAC and celebrated his return to Chancellor Industries.... Chloe and Esther bonded as Chloe did her mom's makeup for her. Esther was impressed with Chloe's ability to handle a blush brush. Chloe forgave Esther for having sent her to boarding school, then gave her mom a birthday present. She then revealed that she'd set up Esther on a blind date with Cane's accountant, Roger. Esther wasn't so sure she wanted to do this. "I haven't had a date since they shot J.R.," she sighed. Chloe urged her to do something for herself for once — and to just give the guy a try. Esther reluctantly agreed. Meanwhile, Roger sat at the bar at Indigo. Chloe then called and told him Esther was on her way. "It's a go," Roger told his mystery contact afterward.... Jill was surprised to hear that Esther had a date. Cane, on the other hand, was shocked when Jill told him that yes — she got Esther a gift. "I had to get her something or your grandmother would've come back to haunt me," she explained. Later, Esther, looking beautiful, met Roger and was obviously charmed by him. Chloe and Cane joined them to make things less awkward. Later, Chloe quizzed Roger about his personal life. He explained that he would've loved to have had a family but never met the right woman. Esther suddenly broke down as she thought of Kay and wished she were there to celebrate her birthday with her. Roger later stepped out and met up with Clint Radison — the man who'd once kidnapped Kay — behind the club and told Clint he had everything under control. When he went back inside, he asked Esther if he could stop by her
place for a nightcap.

Nikki warmly greeted Gina at the GCAC. The ladies then discussed the Katherine "imposter." Nikki missed her friend.... Murphy and Kay hung out the diner. Pearl then warned Kay that Joe, Jr. was angry with "Marge" for not showing up for work for the past few weeks. Joe then arrived and reamed out "Marge" for ditching her job — and then fired her! Kay was understandably angry and pleaded her case. Joe gave in and let her keep her job; several patrons applauded her for standing up for herself.

At the GCAC, Gina informed Nikki that they were incredibly busy and the only free table she had was near Jill's. Jill was furious, but a stubborn Nikki decided to accept the seat. However, they were actually civil as they compared stories about seeing "Marge" and believing that she was Katherine. They sadly discussed how much they missed Kay and sometimes forgot she was dead. Later, Jill apologized to Nikki for getting so upset about Kay leaving Nikki her ring. Nikki pointed out that Kay left her something even better — her company. They agreed to try to get along better, noting that Kay had loved both of them.

At Crimson Lights, Amber told Daniel that she believes Kevin about Kay being alive and wanted to find where Kay was hiding out. After, Amber apologized to Kevin for accusing him of being a murderer and asked for his help. He wasn't so sure he wanted to help Amber, but gave in and scribbled out an address for her. Daniel warned Amber to be careful since the woman was probably not really Kay. Amber promised to be careful. Daniel feared that
her obsession over Kay was destroying Amber. Daniel's words also affected Kevin, who began to wonder if Kay and Murphy were really scamming them. He asked Jana to "summon" Kay in a sance.... Later, Amber (wearing a hat and glasses) and Daniel stopped by the diner. Daniel had doubts that it was Kay working there as they watched her perform her waitressing duties with no
problems. When Kay served them, Amber chatted her up and mentioned that they wanted to bring a pie to their friend "Phillip." Amber was disappointed that the name Phillip didn't trigger any reaction from Kay, and sadly left thediner.... Jana tried to reach a "dead" Kay and asked for a sign, but nothing happened. She and Kevin concluded that it meant she wasn't dead.... Amber returned to get her cell phone case, which she'd left in the diner. Kay recalled that the case had "sparkly things" on it. She then remembered Amber. Amber was thrilled and embraced Katherine.
