Young and Restless Recaps
Y&R Week of December 7, 2009
Monday
Chloe talked Billy out of tossing Restless Style's feel-good cover. He was just upset about Mac, pointed out Chloe. Billy left Chloe to handle the cover. When he returned to the office later, a woman showed up offering information on Victoria's grand jury testimony... for a price.
In jail, Amber was visiting Daniel when Phyllis showed up with bad news: Deacon and Ryder had pleaded the Fifth. Isn't that proof they're guilty? cried Amber. Alone with his mother, Daniel was despondent. Having his mother and Amber see him like this made him sick inside, he said. "There is no way in hell I'm going to let this be your life," a determined Phyllis assured her son. "Who's the scariest person you know? I am getting you out of here...I can fix this." Amber came by again later and admitted she was scared. "So am I," said Daniel.
A chipper Jack asked Ashley to meet him, and shared the news that Katherine had let him into the Chancellor deal after all. Meanwhile, Kay sat nearby with Neil, and revealed that billionaire Tucker McCall wanted in on Chancellor Industries. "He could drive the share price right up," enthused Neil. Kay was hesitant because including Tucker would require limiting the shares of family and friends ...like Jack. Soon after, Ashley noticed an anxious Neil on the phone with Lily, and offered her support, pointing out that she also had cancer, and now has a miracle baby. Jack approached Kay, and she warned him that talk of the deal might be premature. Neil rejoined Kay, who told him there would be no deal until she met McCall face to face.
Cane and Lily showed up at the Chancellor estate to drive Mac to the in vitro appointment. "We're all in this together," explained a giddy Cane. At the hospital, Cane tried to stay calm. "You're so cute when you're jittery," teased Lily. Cane left to get coffee when the doctor arrived for the implantation, and ran into a bitter Billy. Cane accused Billy of feeling sorry for himself. Jack arrived in time to Billy away as he was attacking Cane for being a sanctimonious jerk. "Don't get so mired in the muck that you don't let the good stuff happen," Jack advised his agitated brother. Unappeased, Billy left.
A disgusted Nick caught Sharon in bed with Adam. Sharon chased after him and demanded to know why he'd barged into her bedroom. He was responding to the email she sent, Nick explained. Sharon was confused, but when Nick called her insane, she was so insulted she forgot about the email comment. Adam was just using her to stick it to him, Nick accused. Adam jumped in to stand up for Sharon, but after Nick left, Adam suggested to Sharon that maybe their being together was a mistake. Sharon disagreed. "You don't treat me like I'm some kind of problem to solve, or someone who needs rescuing," observed Sharon. "I'm not going anywhere unless you tell me to," Adam replied.
Nick summoned Noah to the coffee shop and suggested Noah move back in with him. "What happened to, 'You should look after Mom?'" asked a confused Noah. Nick backed off, but told Noah to call if he needed anything. Later, Phyllis met up with Nick, still shaken after seeing Daniel. Taking note of her distress, Nick didn't tell her about catching Sharon with Adam.
Tuesday
Phyllis and Michael visited Daniel in jail. Daniel wished he'd followed Michael's advice and had pleaded the Fifth. Michael wanted to prepare for the trial, but Phyllis didn't want things to go so far. She was determined to talk to Heather and convince the D.A. that Ryder are Deacon are the ones who killed Elkins. Michael told her that it was a terrible idea to go "rogue," but she was determined to do something.
At Crimson Lights, Kevin was surprised to see Ryder and wondered why he had been hiding out. Ryder replied that he needed space. Kevin was angry with Ryder for not helping out Daniel. Ryder explained that Deacon threatened him so he threw Daniel under the bus. Kevin couldn't believe that Deacon would really do anything, but Ryder argued that he was fighting for his life.
Nick thought about catching Adam with Sharon. Victoria stopped by his office and asked how Phyllis is doing. Nick replied that she's upset and scared. Victoria shared that she testified that Daniel had helped her return the Terroni to the museum. She then informed him that she wants to go in on Chancellor. Adam interrupted and Victoria quickly left. He took a call from Sharon right in front of Nick. After, he taunted Nick about Nick's ex-wife
now having feelings for him. Nick stated that even though they're not married anymore, he's still going to look after Sharon. Adam reminded Nick that he's now married to Phyllis and has no business butting into Sharon's life. He retorted that if Adam really cares about Sharon, he'll back off. Adam went on about how he's not married so he can make Sharon happy as often as he wants. Nick punched his brother, who called Michael and asked him to come to Newman.
J.T. spoke with his boss about Chancellor. He then read an article online about Restless Style leaking information about Victoria's testimony. Victoria came home and told J.T. that she's going in on Chancellor. J.T. then showed her the Restless Style article, which mentioned her affair with Deacon. Victoria was furious that the testimony had been leaked because she was anxious to return to work. J.T. accused her of only caring about Newman Enterprises and not their marriage. She denied it, but he wasn't placated. She shared how much she hated even discussing it in her testimony. "You play, you pay," J.T. said coldly and took a business call instead of talking to her. Victoria wished that they could connect and urged him to deal with his anger toward her. "Nothing I say is going to make a difference," he said, noting that their marriage isn't a partnership. "It's Victoria's world and I'm just existing in it," he said, not believing that she wants to work on their union. "I'm pissed!" he yelled, "but I don't have time to deal with it. I've got more important things to do." Ouch.
Noah came home and was surprised to find Sharon baking. Sharon sat him down and told him that she and Adam have become more than friends. She noted that while Adam has done some bad things in the past, he has a great heart. Noah was concerned that she's dating someone too soon after the baby's death, but she wanted to move on with her life. Noah agreed to support his mom, but later met up with Abby and unhappily told her about Sharon's new boyfriend. Abby called Adam "creepy." Noah planned to keep an eye on him.
Phyllis went to see Paul and asked if he could do anything to help Daniel. She was willing to do whatever was necessary. Soon, Heather came to Phyllis's and Phyllis told her that Daniel has been set up for murder. Heather argued that the evidence says otherwise. Phyllis began to cry and said that she hopes Heather never has to watch her child's life get ruined. Paul asked to speak with Heather alone and insisted that Daniel is a good kid. He asked to look at the case file so he could see how the police handled the investigation, but she explained that she couldn't do that. He implored her to stop thinking like a D.A. for a moment and think about how she could help Daniel.... Kevin paid Daniel a visit and vowed to get his friend out of jail. Daniel was doubtful. Kevin was guilty about Ryder not coming through for him, while Daniel worried that Ryder would end up targeting Kevin or one of his loved ones the next time. Later, at the coffeehouse, Ryder approached Kevin, but Kevin wasn't friendly toward him.
Michael arrived at Newman and found Adam photographing his face where Nick had punched him so he'd have "evidence." Michael reamed out Nick, noting that it wouldn't look good having the CEO of Newman punching an employee. Michael called Adam into the office and Nick apologized. Adam wouldn't accept it, though, and wanted to sue Nick for assault. Later, Adam called Sharon and asked to come by, but Nick beat him to it. Nick again
stated that Adam is using her to get back at him and filled her in on how he'd punched Adam. "What are you, 12?" she scoffed. Nick didn't think that it was an accident that he showed up when he did and concluded that Adam sent the e-mail so Nick could catch them having sex. She was shocked when Nick revealed that Adam is suing him for assault. "Do you really think he wanted you to punch him?" she asked. "I honestly think he did," Nick confirmed. He pleaded with her to open her eyes and see Adam for who he really is.
In the coffeehouse, Michael told Ryder that he's going to call him and Deacon to the stand during Daniel's trial. He warned that he'd find out what Ryder is hiding.... Heather let Paul look at the papers, for which he was grateful. Paul called Phyllis and told her that he read the case report and is going to see what he can find out about the third person who was in the alley the night of the murder. She was grateful to have some hope, but Paul warned that it was still a long shot that anything would pan out.
Phyllis told Nick about the Restless Style exposé on Victoria. Nick filled her in on how Adam is threatening to press charges. She wondered why Nick lost it, but he wasn't anxious to give her the details.... Adam went to Sharon's and she questioned why he's with her. "Is it because you have strong feelings for me or is it because you want revenge on Nick?" she asked.
Wednesday
Adam was surprised and hurt that Sharon questioned his motives for being with her. He begged her to believe that his feelings were true, listing all the reasons that she was special to him. "You didn't judge me when my own family wouldn't even have me at the table for Thanksgiving," Adam tearfully admitted. "No one has believed in me like this since my mother," he cried. As Sharon reached out for him and apologized for accusing him, he rushed out the door. Sharon was pondering the situation as her doorbell rang. She was pleased to welcome her mother in for a visit. Doris noticed Sharon's bouquet of flowers and was skeptical when Sharon happily announced that she was seeing someone new. "Oh sweetheart," she admonished. "When will you ever learn?" Sharon let it slip that Nick's brother Adam was her new man, which made her mother even wearier. "You are asking for trouble, girl!" she cautioned. After Doris left, Adam returned. He and Sharon grabbed each other and began kissing passionately. "Let's make sure we lock the door this time," Adam panted.
Nick showed up on Victoria's doorstep. She confided that she and J.T. had just gotten into a huge fight after her affair with Deacon was splashed all over the internet. Nick admitted that he felt bad about punching Adam. Victoria implored Nick not to let Adam get to him. "After all, what can he really take from you ... nothing," she sympathized. "You'd be surprised," stated a nervous Nick. He changed the subject to her marriage. She confided in him that things between her and J.T. were worse than ever. Nick suggested again that she take Reed and go to work for Newman in Dubai. She wasn't sure that "running away" was the right answer, but was excited by the possibility of jumping back into the business world.
In his jail cell, Chance's attacker ground his teeth and snarled menacingly while staring at the newspaper article in which Chance was hailed as a hero.
At the Chancellor estate, Billy burst in on Chance and Chloe making out. As he returned Delia to her mother, Billy made some jabs about her "perfect little life" with her "knight in shining armor." It was soon time for Delia to go to bed, and Billy offered to help Chloe put her down. Chance stayed behind to answer his ringing cell phone. He was shocked to hear the voice of his attacker on the other end. Riggs said he had seen Chance's photo in the paper and needed him to come to the jail to talk. Curious and furious, Chance took off to confront him. After he left, Billy wanted to discuss the status of Chloe's relationship. "He's boring as hell!" Billy blurted, reminding her her that Cane had seemed like a great guy, but had turned out to be a fraud. "You should watch your back, because you might come home one day to find out that Sir Galahad isn't as squeaky clean as he claims to be," Billy warned.
Chance arrived at the jail to meet with Riggs, but was stunned to find out that the prisoner had escaped. Sid explained that Riggs had claimed to have severe stomach pains, then gave the ambulance crew the slip en route to the hospital. Back home, Chance filled Chloe in on Riggs' escape. She was horrified to learn that the man who had stabbed him was on the loose.
At Crimson Lights, Ryder quickly ended his cell phone call to Daisy by promising her that he would try to get away. Lauren cornered Ryder and grilled him about why he had skipped out on Thanksgiving dinner. Ryder stated that he was grateful for being included in the family, but that he had gotten tired of being interrogated. Lauren steered the conversation to his grand jury testimony, and how he hadn't made good on his promise to tell the truth. Their discussion got heated, and Lauren threatened to have him sent to jail if she ever proved that he had sent her the rat.
Later, Lauren arrived at her boutique, and spied Ryder hurrying away. Shrugging, she entered and found Daisy hard at work. Lauren thanked Daisy for being such a good employee and hugged her, saying she was so lucky to have found such a great girl. As they were closing up the boutique, the electricity suddenly went out. Lauren grabbed a flashlight and began calling for Daisy. She screamed in horror upon discovering a rat crawling at her feet. The lights came back on, and Daisy claimed she had briefly disappeared to retrieve her scarf. Lauren was furious that someone was messing with her again. She told Daisy how she had seen Ryder as she had come into the store, and wondered if he was behind the second rat prank. "The guy totally creeps me out," agreed Daisy.
Adam and Michael ran into each other at the coffeehouse. Michael asked Adam if there was some way they could work out his assault lawsuit against Nick. Adam was adamant that the lawsuit would go forward. Michael requested that Adam inform his father about his lawsuit. "If you're going to sue the company, your father deserves a heads-up," Michael informed him. After Michael left, Adam pulled out his cell phone to call Victor.
Michael went to Newman to visit with Nick about the lawsuit. He informed Nick that Adam had called Victor, who had talked him out of going forward. Nick was thrilled until he learned that Adam was demanding a promotion in exchange for dropping the suit. "Either he becomes an equal partner with you here at Newman, or you risk losing your position altogether," Michael announced. Nick was furious, and stated that the punk shouldn't even be allowed to walk the halls, let alone run the company with him.
Victoria confronted Billy at Restless Style. She accused him of ruining her life and not caring that her little boy might have to face his parents' divorce because of what he did. "I didn't force you into Deacon Sharpe's bed," Billy shot back. She threatened to retaliate against him when he least expected it.
Thursday
Katherine and Murphy discussed Chancellor going public. She feared that the stock would sell too well and she'd have more people to answer to. She wanted more time with Murphy. He realized that she was afraid that she'd reached the top and could only go down from there — and assured her that she'd always be on top. Kay wanted to do it for Jill and make sure the company was in the best possible place. Still, she confided that doing it is turning out to be harder than she thought. Kay was also nervous about letting Tucker McCall into the mix.
Jill went to New York on business and stopped at a bar that looked out at a particular Manhattan landmark. She flirted with the bartender ... who was actually Tucker. He joined her for a drink and she wondered why he looked so familiar. Then when she asked for his name, he introduced himself as Mick. He said that he's good at reading people and pegged Jill as a successful businesswoman, who's a fighter. She was impressed. She then guessed that he hasn't always been a bartender and likes to travel a lot and be adventurous. She also guessed that New York isn't his home and he's suffered a deep loss. He replied that she'd described him perfectly.
Paul and Phyllis met at the G.C.A.C. to discuss Daniel's case. He showed her pictures which were taken by a security camera just after the shooting. He noted that the driver was wearing a ski mask and talking on a phone. Phyllis realized that that person was the third man Daniel had mentioned — the murderer. Paul revealed that the man put the mask in a gym bag, then threw it in a dumpster. There was a logo on the bag, but Paul couldn't figure out what it was. Phyllis didn't understand why the police didn't have any of this.
Both Amber and Deacon stopped by the jail. Amber was certain that Daniel would be freed, but Deacon wasn't. He told her that he'd be waiting when she became lonely. Daniel joined his wife and assured her that Deacon can no longer touch her. Later, Phyllis showed Amber the photos and they were both hopeful that Daniel would be freed. Deacon entered the coffeehouse and Phyllis showed him the photos. He denied having anything to do with them. She warned him that he wouldn't get away with framing Daniel.
Victoria wanted to talk to J.T., but he refused and said that he had to work. She pushed and he became angry. He asked to wait until the weekend to hash everything out. Victoria asked what he thought of her going to Dubai on business, believing that time apart would be good for them. He disagreed.
Heather paid Billy a visit at Restless Style and told him that he broke the law by leaking Victoria's testimony. He refused to reveal his source. After, Billy stopped by Victoria and J.T.'s with flowers to apologize for not giving her the opportunity to give her side of the story. She didn't even want to deal with him. J.T. demanded that Billy leave Victoria alone. Billy argued that good stories sell magazines and he's just a journalist. "You're not a journalist; you're an opportunist," J.T. shot back. Billy mocked J.T. and told him that even if he puts on a suit, he's just a security guard. J.T. called security to throw him out.... Victoria approached Heather and her boss, Owen, at Crimson Lights and asked what they'd do about Billy. Heather said that he wouldn't reveal his source. Owen agreed to do something about him.
Jill called Kay and told her that the meeting went well with the lawyers. Kay admitted that she's not sure about Tucker. Jill suggested she meet with him first before making up her mind. Jill then told "Mick" that she's about to make the biggest deal of her career and explained the stock deal to him. He was fascinated. After, she asked if he likes his job. He replied that he does and that his bar doesn't just sell drinks; it sells a cure for loneliness. Jill was again interrupted by a call from Paul, who informed her that he's learned that Kay's baby had been placed somewhere in Ohio. Jill wanted to give Kay good news by Christmas. He promised to continue keeping the search from Katherine.
Phyllis showed Heather the photos, but Heather said that they're useless. Phyllis stuck them in her face and insisted that the person was tied to the crime. Heather wasn't interested in investigating the case further because she was confident that she had a solid case against Daniel. Deacon overheard their discussion and made a call, asking someone to have his "message" delivered.... Amber returned to the prison and happily told Daniel about the surveillance photos.
Murphy joined Paul at the G.C.A.C. and Paul filled him in on the search. He asked if Murphy could ask some questions and see if he can jog Kay's memory. Murphy wondered what would happen if they found her daughter and it turned out she'd had a tragic life. He feared that this would tear Kay apart.... Billy and J.T. arrived at the club at the same time. Murphy stopped Billy from going over to J.T., while J.T. sat down with Paul. J.T. admitted that his new job is affecting his marriage.... Murphy had a serious talk with Billy about Billy's latest actions and suggested that he ask himself if he's really proud of what he's doing.
Victoria stopped by the Chancellor Estate and informed Kay that she and Nick are joining forces to go in on Chancellor. Kay sensed that something was bothering Vicky. She confided that she and J.T. are having problems. Kay advised her to give him his space because he might not be ready to deal with everything. Victoria then admitted that she wished she had a job. Kay invited her to join Chancellor. As Victoria shared her plans to go to Dubai with Reed, J.T. told Paul that he wasn't happy with the idea. Kay again mentioned Chancellor, but Victoria didn't think it would help. She was especially upset about her affair with Deacon being made public. Kay could sympathize.... J.T. insisted to Paul that he's forgiven his wife for her affair and is ready to move past it. Paul didn't think it was that easy. Neither did Kay, who noted that it would take time for him to trust Victoria again.
Paul met up with Heather at the coffeehouse. Heather told him that the photos won't prove Daniel's innocence and asked him to talk some sense into Phyllis. Paul argued that she's just trying to protect her son.... Amber and Phyllis planned to do whatever it took to find the gym bag, even if it meant digging through a landfill..... At the prison, a big, mean-looking guy sat and glowered at Daniel.
Murphy returned home and played cards with Kay. Kay told him that her meeting with Tucker wasn't the most important in her life — it was the day she'd first met Murphy. Aww....
Victoria found J.T. at the club and he apologized for throwing himself into his work. She told him to do what he needed to do, and they'd deal with it. J.T. spied Billy and wanted to "deal" with him, but Victoria stopped him.... Billy was then served with papers for leaking the testimony. Victoria and J.T. looked on, satisfied.
Friday
Jill flashed back to her steamy one-night stand with the guy in New York and chuckled as she told Kay she didn't get much sleep. Kay was nervous about the upcoming meeting with Tucker McCall and warned Jill that Tucker is as charming as he is shrewd. Meanwhile, Tucker arrived in Genoa City. J.T. gave him the update on Chancellor and expressed his concern over Jill's decision regarding the matter; Tucker didn't seem fazed. Later, Kay met with Tucker and Neil. She remained dubious and demanded to know Tucker's intentions. He tried to win her over. Jill arrived late to the meeting and was shocked to discover that her lover from the night before is Tucker! She kept mum about it and Tucker laid out his plan, saying he wants to buy 25 percent of the company; Kay didn't want to shut out her close (friends and family) investors. Tucker gave her until midnight to reach a decision and left. After, Jill called Tucker a liar. Kay was impressed by his shrewd business tactics; Neil figured they could benefit from Tucker's money.
Victoria told Heather she wants to be there when Billy goes before the judge and they traded barbs about the situation. Heather said it doesn't affect Daniel's case at all and said she thinks juror leaked the info to Billy. Victoria was upset that Billy was using his publication in a personal grudge and angry that Heather was going to use the First Amendment in Billy's defense. Meanwhile, at the coffee shop, Billy met with Rafe, who said he can't refuse his court subpoena; Billy refused to give up his
source.
At the hospital, Phyllis and Michael crossed hairs over Daniel's situation. Phyl was outraged and said she's certain the weight machine that fell on her son at the prison gym wasn't just an accident. In Daniel's room, Amber tried to make him feel more comfortable and got upset at the thought of him going to prison again; Phyllis refused to let that happen. Later, Michael told Heather he wants Daniel in protective custody and is convinced that he was framed. Phyll threatened to sue Heather and the state for not protecting Daniel. Everyone left. Daniel admitted to Heather and Michael that an acquaintance of Deacon's has been watching him in prison and it's freaking him out. When angry and determined Phyll returned, she said she's going to the landfill to find the gym bag. Michael called her crazy.
Cane and Lily were anxious for Mac to find out the results of her pregnancy test. She was wary and said she doesn't want to disappoint them. They urged her to bask in the possibility. Billy entered and Mac confronted him about the article about Victoria and railed at him for acting like Victor. Later, Lily was overzealous and assumed Mac was having a pregnancy craving when Mac wanted hot sauce on her popcorn while the trio played cards and waited for the results. The doctor called and Mac announced she's pregnant. Cane and Lily were elated.
Billy took the stand in court and compared his source to Deep Throat; the judge was not amused and said Billy's case is more akin to porn, not Watergate. He ruled Billy reveal his source or be in contempt of court. Later, Victoria was pleased when J.T. arrived, and apologized for what she put him through. Meanwhile, Rafe tried to urge Billy that it'll be okay to spill his source's name; Billy feared the magazine would fold. Back on the stand, Billy refused to reveal his source and was arrested.
Jill confronted Tucker about lying about his identity, saying that their affair wouldn't have happened if she’d known who he really was. He tried to seduce her again and she couldn't resist when he kissed her. They had sex again. Meanwhile, Kay wrestled with her decision and desperate Phyllis went digging through the trash at the landfill.
