Young and Restless Recaps

Y&R Week of December 3, 2007

Monday

Lauren wanted to take Michael and Kevin out to lunch, but Kev was
headed off to prison to see Jana. After he left, Michael fumed and
Lauren was perplexed as to why her brother-in-law was determined to marry a
murderer. At prison, Jana verified for Kevin that there was a part of her
tumor that couldn't be removed but the doctor reported that it hasn't "grown
or changed." (Such romantic talk.) Kevin brought up marriage again and Jana
said that she would surely be convicted and sent to prison. Kevin returned
to Crimson Lights where Michael and Lauren tried to reason with him but Kev
vowed that his girlfriend would be free, even if "I have to break Jana out
of prison myself."

Brad and J.T. continued giving a comatose Victoria pep talks about her baby
being a tough fighter.... Victor and Nikki stared in amazement at their
infant grandson.... Brad informed Nikki that he would hold off on the
paternity test so the baby could get stronger.... Phyllis brought Summer to
the hospital to visit her daddy. She convinced Nick to come home for a
little while. "Victoria's not going to think you're a bad brother for doing
it," Phyllis noted.

Jack, Sharon, Daniel, Ben, Gloria and Jill showed up for Abbott's hearing
with the ethics committee. Jack was first asked about his involvement with
illegally buying Jabot. Ghost John appeared and urged his son to answer the
questions honestly, but before Jack could respond, a recess was
called. Gloria and Jill got upset that they wouldn't be testifying due to
time constraints. "Don't you worry," Jill assured. "We haven't even begun
fighting. Jack is going down." The hearing continued and Jack confirmed,
"The stockholders were treated fairly, and Jabot employees who were laid off
in the prior regime regained their jobs and their livelihood." Next topic:
Clear Springs and why Jack kept his ownership of the property a secret but
he reminded that he no laws were broken. The hearing took a break and Jill
walked up to the committee chairman and asked that she and Gloria be heard.

Sharon and Ben told Jack that the hearing wasn't going well. Ben called
Maggie and asked if she had reviewed the recording he gave her, but the cop
wouldn't give out any info. The hearing reconvened and Jack was questioned
about being investigated for Ji Min's death. "I have neither been arrested
nor indicted," Jack pointed out. He was then excused and Gloria testified
that "John Abbott would never condone what his son did." Next, Jill told the
committee that Jack's secret purchase of Jabot "left my mother and I open to
an avalanche of investigations and lawsuits." Daniel shared with Jack that
his office was already being slammed with voicemails and e-mails and that
almost all were against Jack.

Maggie found out that the voices on Ji Min's tape were authentic. She told
Paul that the next step was to order a search warrant. Maggie approached
Victor at the hospital but he bellowed that it wasn't the right time to
answer any questions. "We'll talk soon," Maggie demurred.

Tuesday

Nick and Phyllis arrived home, where Phyll was greeted by a "Welcome Home" sign. Nick was distracted and apologized for not
celebrating her release in a bigger way. They kissed and began having sex.
Later, they spent some quality family time with Summer. Phyllis promised
never to leave them again and shared a sweet moment with Nick when he gave
her a video game for her homecoming gift. They played the game, joked around
and ate pizza together.

Neil and Karen arrived at the Newman Green Now dinner together. Cane
approached them and inquired about Lily. Neil said she wasn't planning to
attend. Then Heather showed up, took Cane's arm and they went to the bar.

Colleen prepared to go to the event, but feared leaving Victoria's bedside
so Lily reluctantly agreed to attend the dinner in her place. She claimed to
have no reservations about running into Cane and Heather there.... Adrian
and Lily arrived and sat down at their table, right next to Cane and Heather
(awkward!). Later, Lily and Cane laughed in private and flirted after
Heather and Adrian started bonding over their love for foreign films.
Meanwhile, Neil was distracted when he eyed Lily talking to "The blunder
from Down Under", but he assured Karen it had nothing to do with Clear
Springs.

At the hospital, J.T. and Victor continued to give a comatose Victoria pep
talks. Meanwhile in the nursery, Nikki was amazed at how hard her new
grandson was fighting for his life and joked with Brad that they should name
him Rocky. Later, Dr. Webb informed Nik and Victor that Victoria was fully
stable and should be moved to a long term care facility.... Colleen met up
with J.T. and Brad and they all pondered what to name the baby. Brad gazed
longingly at the child and recalled names he and Victoria had picked out
before. Of course, the names weren't the same ones that Vic and J.T liked
(Grayson and Ian).

In the waiting room, Nikki told Victor she didn't think Victoria needed to
go to a new facility, certain that she'd be waking up soon. After discussing
all the options, they decided to bring Victoria back home to the ranch....
Brad requested the doctor tell him the baby's blood type, saying he needed
to know if the child was his. Brad was elated to learn that the baby had
O-positive blood, just like his. J.T. overheard the conversation and traded
barbs with Brad, saying that he was also O-positive so blood type didn't
prove anything.

Adrian and Heather continued their chat at the bar.... Cane put in an
auction bid for tickets to see Lily's favorite band. Karen won the tickets,
then gave one to Neil and the other to Lily.... Heather called Cane out on
talking to Lily all night and said she just wanted to be friends.

Nikki phoned Nick to request his help in moving Victoria back home. Later,
she told Victor that she'd also like to move back to the ranch so she could
be there every day to help her daughter.... Nick and Phyllis discussed what
each other would do if they were in Victoria's situation, then talked about
their funerals (weird!).

Wednesday

Over the phone, Nikki told David that Victoria's condition was stable.
However, Nik had to hang up before she could mention that she was moving
back to the ranch. Phyllis and Nick showed up and were surprised to hear
about Nikki's moving plans. "You don't think it'll be a little bit
complicated with you and Dad?" asked a concerned Nick but Nikki assured
everything will be okay. Nick re-checked this with his dad and Victor
reported the same. Nick and Victor went to the ranch to get everything ready
for Victoria's arrival. There, Nick met the private nurse, Gabby, who Victor
hired. Nick also observed that Victor stocked Nikki's room with
magazines and flowers.

Ben informed Jack that the ethics committee was calling him back to answer
more questions. Jack considered not responding but Ben reminded that
"they'll either subpoena you or they'll vote to censure."

Nikki visited David, who announced he booked her a relaxing massage. Nikki
felt much better after the treatment and David presented her with a
breakfast of "eggs benedict, wheat toast and fresh fruit." Nikki then
announced that she was moving back to the ranch to help care for Victoria.
"What does this mean for us?" queried David. Nikki said that, for now,
"there is no us." Nikki showed up at the ranch and was welcomed by a civil
Victor. The ambulance transporting Victoria arrived and she was trasferred
to her room. Meanwhile, David left a voicemail for Nikki to reconsider
seeing him. "If you're honest with yourself, Nikki, you'll realize that you
need me just as much as I need you."

At the hearing Jack was asked, "Did you try in any way — in person, in
writing, or by an associate — to dissuade the district attorney from
indicting you for fraud?" Jack answered no but the committee called recess
so that he could consider his response carefully. (After learning that things
weren't going so well for Jack, Phyllis headed to the hearing.) Jack was
touched when Phyllis showed up, he then delivered an impassioned speech to
the committee that was sorry for his actions and "hope you can find it in
your hearts to forgive me." Meanwhile, Gloria was nervous because she hadn't
heard from Todd, the son of John's prison mate, about the letter. Luckily,
Todd appeared with the letter in hand. "This is John's writing!" exclaimed
Gloria.

Thursday

A thrilled Gloria shared John's letter with Lauren and Michael. "I thought
that maybe he had changed his mind about me and that he didn't love me the
way I believed and the way I'd hoped," said Glo. "This proves it. He loved
me." She then wanted to get to the hearing immediately so she could have her
say in front of the committee. Michael tried to dissuade his mom, but Gloria
showed him a certain part of John's missive and Mike agreed. Kevin booked a
private jet. Destination: Madison!

Neil was shocked when Maggie showed up at Newman Enterprises with a warrant
to search Victor's office. Neil called Victor at home to warn that the
police will be searching the ranch too but got his voicemail. Neil headed
out to the ranch and finally tipped off Victor. "This is Jack Abbott's
doing," growled Vic, just as Maggie showed up with Heather and some eager
officers. As the police rummaged through the house, Victor was frustrated
when he couldn't reach Michael. When Baldwin finally called back from
Madison, he advised his client not to say anything but Victor wasn't happy
that his lawyer couldn't come right over.

Nikki called David and asked him to bring her day planner, mail and some
files. David packed up the stuff and included this note he penned: "We were
destined to meet, Nikki. I knew I'd find the perfect woman someday, I just
didn't expect it to happen now. But I guess it's the unexpected that
actually makes life worth living now, isn't it? I can't even imagine not
having you in my life. And I don't want to." David gave the package to a
messenger who delivered it to the ranch. Victor later came across the note
and read it without letting Nikki know. He was not amused.

As Jack and Sharon prepared to go home, he received news that his fellow
senators were responding favorably to his public apology. Jack was even more
elated when he learned that Victor had been served with a search warrant,
although Sharon was upset for Vic. Just when Senator and Mrs. Abbot were
leaving, Ben announced they had to stay because the committee "just received
a petition to stay in session." Jack was stunned to hear that Michael made
the request. Jack and company returned to the hearing and he was upset to
see Gloria. Meanwhile, Ben argued why Gloria shouldn't be allowed to speak
again and Michael explained why she should. The chairman allowed Gloria to
have her say. Sharon fretted what Glo had to say but Jack dismissed his
former step mommy as "a bitter, angry witch." At the hearing, Gloria read
the letter out loud in which John detailed how Jack made him write a new
will to disinherit her. The letter then stated that Gloria should receive
half of John's estate. She railed at Jack for his deceit while the chairman
banged his gavel. "The truth!" Gloria exclaimed to the committee. "John
Abbott loved me to his dying breath. And now everyone knows!" Not
surprisingly, Jack didn't look too good.

Friday

Phyllis returned home to Nick and Summer and opined that the ethics
committee would give Jack a break. They headed out to the main house to see
Victoria. Meanwhile, Victor revealed David's love note to Nikki, who was
peeved that her husband read it. "It's a love letter written to my wife!"
Vic raged. "I had to read it in my house!" Nick and Phyllis walked in on the
battle and she quickly escorted Nikki to the tack house, where she continued
to fume. Phyllis observed, "Victor would not act the way he did if he didn't
still love you." David called Nikki and she relayed how Victor found his
note. She then returned to the main house and apologized for hurting Victor.
He asked that she stay somewhere else and then give notice whenever she
visits so he can be gone.

Gloria explained to the committee that John was on medication that clouded
his thinking. "That letter is a fake!" Jack proclaimed. A recess was called
and Gloria felt smugly victorious. Jack approached and sneered, "Boy, you
can take the hooker out of the gutter, you just can't—" Kevin rushed to his
mom's defense but was held back from attacking Jack, who vowed to prove that
the letter was a forged.

During recess, Sharon approached Michael and asked if he really thought the
letter was genuine and he said yes. He also advised Sharon to listen how
Jack will defend himself to the committee. "He will tap dance around the
questions, but you will never, ever hear him say, 'I didn't do it,' "
Michael explained. "And that's because... he did."

The hearing convened as Jack was given the opportunity to say his piece. He
disparaged Gloria's reputation then called her letter a fraud. The hearing
was adjourned (finally) and Gloria wanted to celebrate with a fancy dinner
at the athletic club once they got back to Genoa City. Both Michael and
Lauren begged off so Kevin was the only taker. Later, Sharon point-blank
asked Jack if he influenced his father to cut Gloria out of the will. Jack
finally confessed that he did. Sharon was horrified, disappointed and
angry.

Michael and Lauren returned home where she staged a Vegas night for their
wedding anniversary celebration.... While Gloria and Kevin drank champagne
at the athletic club, Jeffrey stopped by their table and congratulated her
on her appearance at the hearing. Glo was put off when Jeff cryptically
said, "With that kind of money, you could buy all the moisturizer you want."
