Young and Restless Recaps
Y&R Week of December 20, 2010
Monday
Deacon and Nikki met at Crimson Lights. He told her that she looked well and she confirmed that she's feeling better. He asked if they could go to AA together or meet for coffee. She agreed, but let him know that all she wants to do is be friends for the next six months. He blamed Meggie for Nikki's relapse, but Nikki wanted to take full responsibility for her actions. Deacon was disappointed that she didn't want a relationship at the moment, but was impressed with her determination to stay clearheaded and sober. That said, he was happy to be her friend — for now.
Diane and Nick awoke in each other's arms on the floor of the Newman Ranch after having spent the night together. They began to kiss, but heard someone at the door. It was Victor. Uh oh! Nick rushed to get dressed while Diane hurried out. Victor entered and realized that Nick had been entertaining a lady friend. Nick said that the woman wasn't Sharon, but didn't give his dad any more details. Nick then shared that he won't let Sharon see Faith unless he's there with her. Victor agreed that this was a good decision. He asked if Adam had been arrested, but Nick explained that the evidence is circumstantial — and that Adam is accusing Victor of setting him up. Vic wished he'd warned Sharon about Adam, but Nick didn't think it would've made a difference. Nick also resented his father for constantly walking away from his family. Victor argued that him leaving Nick in charge of Newman was a sign that he had confidence in him. "It would be nice to know you had my back once in a while," Nick angrily told him.
Leslie stopped by Sharon and Adam's hotel room and informed them that the cops already knew about the photo of the woman in the elevator and were investigating the possibility of Skye being alive. Adam and Sharon planned to track down Skye's order of perfume to prove that she'd faked her death. Leslie noted that Skye has faked her death before and had motive to get revenge on Adam. The attorney was confident that there wasn't enough evidence to keep Adam as a "person of interest" in the case. Still, Adam noted that the only way that he could be fully exonerated is to actually find Skye. Sharon assured Adam that she believed him. "Whatever anyone else thinks, they can go to hell," he stated. Later, Sharon followed their lead about the rare perfume as Adam struggled to remember the name of it.
Meanwhile, Jack and Phyllis found Skye's handbag ad shoes by the Dumpster and were sure that Adam had killed Skye. Phyllis was ready to write her story for Restless Style, but Jack wanted to first contact the police. They went to the station and filled in Ronan on their discovery, and noted that they knew about the woman in the elevator. Phyllis asked if he'd arrest Adam, but Ronan refused to comment. Jack was sure that Ronan would jump at the chance to bring down Adam.... Adam called Phyllis to discuss the photo. He confirmed that the bag and shoes in the elevator pic were Skye's and gave Phyllis permission to quote him in her story. Phyllis coldly told him that Skye's bloody clothes and bag had been found near the train station. Just then, Ronan paid Adam a visit and asked him to come to the station. Phyllis cheerfully wished Adam a Merry Christmas and hung up. After, Jack and Phyllis talked about the case; Phyllis suspected that Adam was trying to create reasonable doubt regarding Skye.... Sharon went to see Jack and Phyllis and asked Jack if he could help identify Skye's perfume. Phyllis called it a wild goose chase, but Sharon defended Adam. Phyllis guessed that Adam's luck was about to change for the worse. Sharon called him and sure enough, he was at the station. He told her about Skye's clothes being found. Ronan brought out the bloody clothes and asked Adam to tell him what had really happened that night.... Phyllis and Sharon continued to argue over whether Adam could've killed Skye. Sharon noted that no body had been found and vowed to prove that Adam was innocent. Jack gave Sharon the name of the perfume, which annoyed Phyllis. He explained that if Skye is alive, he wants to know about it.
Diane headed to the coffeehouse, where she spied Nikki and Deacon. She taunted Nikki about being a "sugar mama".... Nikki taunted her back about not having a job or money. Sure enough, Diane's credit card was declined; the embarrassed Diane paid cash as Nikki laughed at her — and joked that Diane could use a sugar daddy. She then paid for Diane's drink and flounced out of the joint. Later, Nick found Diane at Crimson Lights; she made him laugh when they joked about the slippers that she was wearing (since she'd rushed out of the ranch). They hoped that they'd "bump into" each other again, but agreed to be discreet for the children's sake.
Ronan quizzed Adam about the photo. Ronan agreed that since no body had been found, he had to consider the fact that it was Skye in the picture. Adam insisted that the clothes had been planted. Ronan still suspected that Adam was a murderer, but Adam again stated that he hadn't done anything to Skye. Adam admitted that he didn't have an alibi for the night she went missing. Sharon soon arrived and promised to help him prove that he was being set up. She gave him the name of the perfume, as well as the name of a manufacturer in Monaco which still sold it. Meantime, Ronan arrested Adam.
Nikki stopped by the ranch with a small Christmas tree for Victor. He let her in and offered to help her set it up. "Now at least it looks like Ebenezer Scrooge doesn't live here," she cracked, noting that she wanted to make sure he wasn't alone for the holiday. She invited him to join the family for Christmas, but he turned her down. She then told him about Diane's financial situation. After she left, a sad Victor sat alone in front of the tree. He later called Diane and asked her to come to the ranch.... Nikki and Nick ran into each other at Gloworm. They talked about how their meetings with Victor hadn't gone well.... Diane arrived at the ranch to see Victor. He asked her about her job situation, then offered her a position on a renovation project. "How much does it have to do with driving Jack crazy?" she asked, but he evaded her question. She agreed to consider it.
Tuesday
Neil and Sofia worked together at his place. She surprised him with a Christmas gift: The Gravy Maven cookbook. Malcolm arrived and Neil reported that he was going to see Ana perform at a holiday service. Neil was visibly uncomfortable as he watched his brother and Sofia snuggle.
Jill complained to Nina that the Chancellor Christmas tree wasn't yet decorated. Colin arrived and Jill was pleased to see him. He gave her a datebook and a pencil, asking her to pencil him. Aww. After he left, Katherine and Chloe returned home and Jill explained that the gift had been from a friend. She left and sarcastically told them to enjoy their tree. Kay, Chloe, Nina and Murphy then prepared to trim the tree and Paul joined them.
Cane and Lily took the twins for a walk outside in the snow. Daniel ran into them, but wasn't in the Christmas spirit. When Cane stepped away, Lily handed a twin to Daniel, who looked freaked out to be handling a baby. Lily advised him to try to be happy for the holidays and applauded him for wanting Daisy's baby to have the best life possible. After, Abby ran into Daniel on her way to the Abbott mansion and awkwardly wished him a Merry Christmas. He asked if she'd like to grab a drink first. She agreed and they went to Crimson Lights. There, he asked if Abby would give him another chance; she responded by kissing him.
Jana helped Daisy set up Daniel's place for Christmas so Daisy could take the credit and charm her host. Kevin stopped by to check on Daisy and was surprised to find Jana there. Jana explained that she was cooking for Daisy and invited Kevin to stay for dinner. He turned her down, saying that he was having dinner at the Chancellor manse, but offered to take Daisy to a future doctor's appointment. After he left, Jana noted that Kevin missed her. Daisy stated that it was too bad that she couldn't have dinner with Kevin like she was with Daniel. "Maybe I can," Jana said. Later, Daisy made a gingerbread house for Daniel and became furious when he didn't come home. "I hate you!" she yelled, knocking the house off the table.
Jill, Lily and Cane went to the Winters' home for the holiday. When they got a moment alone, Sofia asked why Cane was doing so much work for Tucker. He lied that he's really a bartender at heart and finds the work difficult, but Sofia didn't seem to believe him. Later, Sofia and Malcolm shared that they were thinking of getting married on Valentine's Day. Meanwhile, Lily opened a gift for the babies that had been delivered by "Father Christmas." Cane bristled, realizing that it was from Colin, then called his father. They met outside and Cane implored him to stay away from his kids. "Time's running out," Colin warned. "It's time for you to come home and take your place as my son." "My life is here," Cane stated. Colin warned that everything was about to blow up in Cane's face.
Heather surprised Ronan at his place with a bag full of food. They sat down on his bed and enjoyed the Chinese that she'd brought and talked about holidays past. She then grabbed his hand and insisted that he join her for some fun — but they didn't clean the food off the bed. Ew! Anyway, they went to the park and enjoyed a snowball fight. Later, they removed their clothes — right there in the snow — and made snow angels in the freezing cold. After, they went to the coffeehouse, where she gave him a gift: two movie gift certificates so they could go out together. He felt badly that he hadn't gotten anything for Heather. "There is something you can give me," she cooed.
Kevin arrived at Kay's and had an uncomfortable encounter with Chloe. Kay asked them to decorate her tree — together, of course. "Well, it's not like we have to talk while we do it," Chloe shrugged. Still, they bickered the entire time.... As Nina set the table, Paul wished that Heather and Ronan could be with them.... Kevin regretted telling Chloe his true feelings for her. Just then, Jana showed up under the pretense that she was delivering a card from Delia. Jana started to leave, but Kevin invited her to stay. She eagerly accepted, to Chloe's chagrin.... Nina was thrilled when Heather and Ronan surprised her and Paul with a visit.
Wednesday
Michael, Lauren and Fen celebrated Christmas at home with Michael bringing out eggnog for the adults. He was pleased to see his wife acting so relaxed for a change. The doorbell rang; it was Jill surprising them with a visit — and a huge bag of gifts. She was about to leave, but Fen asked if she could stay for cookies. Lauren also extended an invite and Jill happily agreed to stay. Fen shared his Christmas list with Jill, who hoped that he'd get everything he wants. Later, Jill and Lauren warmly wished each other a Merry Christmas.
Tucker — wearing a Santa hat — and Ashley celebrated the holidays at Crimson Lights by kissing and snuggling. Abby arrived and interrupted them. When Ash stepped away for a moment, Abby and Tucker agreed to forget about their meeting in his office.
Victoria and Billy prepared for the holidays at their place. She wished that Delia had been able to stay for longer and looked forward to seeing Reed. She headed out to get more supplies; Billy planned to wrap gifts while she was gone. The phone then rang; it was J.T informing Billy that the airport was closed due to snow. Billy feared that his wife's Christmas would be ruined if her son couldn't make it.
Traci arrived at the Abbott manse, along with Kyle and Diane. Jack was thrilled to see his son and asked if Kyle would mind if Summer and Phyllis joined them for Christmas.... Victor stopped by the tack house to wish a happy holidays to Nick, Phyllis and Summer. After Phyllis and Summer left, Victor asked if Nick could talk business, but Nick refused to talk shop during the holiday.... Nikki went to the ranch to get her things. She called Katherine and told Kay that Victor was home. Kay invited her to stay at the Chancellor Estate instead of the Newman Ranch; Nikki reluctantly agreed, even after Nick invited her to stay with him. She urged him to bring Summer and Faith to see Victoria the next day, but Nick refused.... Victor returned to his empty home and poured himself a drink.
Sharon visited Adam in jail. He believed that Victor had set him up for Skye's murder. Sharon again vowed to prove Adam's innocence. He felt badly that she was with him at Christmas. "The only gift I want is you out of here," Sharon replied. Adam stated that the best gift he'd ever received was when she'd told him she loves him.
Phyllis and Summer went to the Abbott home. Phyllis said hello to Traci and Kyle, but not to Diane. Ashley and Tucker joined them and Traci was pleased to see her sister so happy. Diane gave Tucker a cold hello and reminded him how he'd screwed her out of a job. Later after dinner, Jack invited everyone to open one present. Jack asked Phyllis where Daniel was; she explained that Daniel wasn't in the mood to celebrate with the whole Daisy situation. Jack hoped that the next year would include their kids — and the baby that Phyllis was planning to adopt from Daisy. Phyllis was grateful to Jack for supporting her.
Victoria ran into Victor at Crimson Lights while she was picking up sweets for her family. She wished him a Merry Christmas, but he replied with a "Bah, humbug!" and blasted her for marrying Billy against his wishes. Victoria called him "Scrooge" and angrily left the coffeehouse. Later, Victoria returned home and Billy gave her the bad news about Reed's flight getting delayed. She was devastated and tried not to cry as she eyed Reed's stocking. Billy did her best to comfort her and suggested that they hold off on Christmas until Reed arrived.
Victor went to the jail and told Sharon how disappointed he was to see her being so cozy with Adam. Adam accused his father of framing him, but Victor denied it. Adam was confident that he and Sharon would prove that Skye isn't dead. Victor laughed and scoffed that Adam was now paying for his crimes.
Nikki joined Kay at her place and shared how she was determined to get the Newmans together for Christmas.... Abby stopped by the ranch with a gift for Victor. Victor refused to accept it and reamed her out for suing him. "How can you be so cold?" Abby asked. "You brought this on yourself!" he yelled and demanded that she leave.... Sharon stopped by the tack house with presents for Nick and Faith. Nick invited her in, but wasn't friendly toward her. She noted that now that Adam is in jail, he won't be near Faith — and asked for more time with her daughter. Nick wasn't so sure it was a good idea since Sharon was still under Adam's "spell." Sharon didn't want to fight with him on Christmas, but stated that their argument wasn't over.
Diane stepped out of the Abbott manse to "take care" of something, just as Abby arrived. She gave Tucker a safety kit in case he was ever caught in another tornado. He laughed and appreciated the thought. In turn, he gave Abby a handbag. Later, Jack's friend, Marian, came by and thanked Jack for giving her back the money her family had lost with the Newman Fund. Everyone was impressed with him for paying everyone back with his own money. He was happy to have repaired the damage that Victor did to innocent people.... Diane went to see Victor and accepted his job offer. He asked her to expand the East Wing of the ranch and invited her to move in. She wasn't ready to do that. He asked to begin work right away, even though it was Christmas Eve.
Sharon returned to the prison to be with Adam. Later, Sharon got a call informing her that a bottle of Skye's favorite perfume had been purchased in Hawaii... Reed surprised Victoria by arriving after all. She was thrilled to be reunited with her son. Billy was pleased to see his wife so happy.
Jill returned home and Kay told her that Nikki was staying there. Jill was not pleased, but Kay didn't care.... After Fen went to sleep, Michael looked forward to spending time with Lauren. Lauren reminded him that he had to put a two-wheeler together at Kevin's place — but promised to wait up for him.
Diane picked up some coffee and ran into Nick. She filled him in on Victor's job offer. Nick gave her a candy cane and kissed her.... Tucker got down on one knee and, with her family watching, asked Ashley to marry him. She was speechless for a moment, but then said, "Yes." Everyone applauded as they kissed.
Nikki went back to the ranch and told Victor that he's forgotten the meaning of family. He didn't want to hear it and reminded her of everything awful that she and their kids have done to him.
Thursday
At Billy and Victoria's, Nikki told Reed that she was staying overnight for Christmas. Victoria wished that Victor could join them, but wasn't ready to make amends with her father. Nick soon stopped by and Victoria invited him in. He agreed to put his issues with Billy aside so the family could be together. Nikki was thrilled, but saddened by Victor's absence.
Victor went to his office alone and thought about how he'd turned away from his family and how Victoria had called him "Scrooge." There was a knock on his door; it was Nikki, who again asked him to join the family. He turned her down once more and asked her to let him be. She angrily stormed out. After, he returned to the Newman Ranch and requested that the staff be at work — even though it was Christmas. He then sat down to watch A Christmas Carol. The TV began to flicker and the show (Y&R, that is, not the movie) turned to black and white. A huge flame shot out of the fireplace and a male voice called, "Christian," from the TV. "Who the hell are you?" Victor asked. "You know," the voice replied. "You're not my father," Victor stated. "Get the hell out of here." "I'm here," Ghost Dad replied. "I've been forced to wander the face of the Earth." GD kept calling him, "Christian Miller," infuriating Victor. GD reminded Victor how Victor is abandoning his family just as his own father had. Victor became emotional and yelled at his father's ghost for leaving him and his mother. GD announced that Victor would be visited by three spirits — and urged him to heed their warnings. Victor didn't care and demanded that GC leave. He then slowly made his way up the stairs to bed.
At 1 a.m., Victor (still in black and white) jolted awake and told himself that seeing his father's ghost had just been a dream. He then saw a bright light in the hallway. It was the ghost of Hope, a.k.a "Christmas Past." He asked if he was dreaming, but all she replied was that she wanted to take him somewhere. He grabbed her hand and there was a bright flash. They ended up on a street in front of a house, where a woman was standing outside. Victor recognized her as his mother and recalled how she'd brought him to an orphanage on Christmas Eve. A little boy — young Victor — shouted for his mother as she left. Victor remembered how he'd cried himself to sleep as a child and that he became angry about being alone. Now a teen Victor was shown fighting with another orphan; teen Vic was then seen sneaking out one night. "I never looked back," Victor recalled. Hope added that Christian was gone and Victor Newman was born. Now actual flashbacks of Victor and Nikki were shown as Hope called Nikki the love of his life. Victor disagreed, but Hope pointed out that Nikki brought him balance in his life so that he'd have a family and his business. Victor didn't want to stay in the past, but Hope forced him to remember his touching reunion with his mother as an adult. In the present, Victor's eyes filled with tears. He then found himself back in bed.
At 2 a.m., Victor heard another voice. This time, he found Sabrina's ghost — wearing a crazy Victorian-looking getup — by his bed. Victor was happy to see her, a.k.a. The "Ghost of Christmas Present." She took him to see how his loved ones were celebrating. First, they visited a jailed Adam. Victor stated that Adam deserved it, but Sabrina warned that he'd come to regret framing his son. Next, they traveled to the Abbott mansion, where Abby and Tucker were celebrating their engagement. Traci then shared that she'd run into Victor, who was planning to work over the holiday, and added that she found it sad. Diane returned to the manse and complained that she had to work on Christmas Eve, thanks to Victor's job offer. Still, she refused to let it ruin her holiday with Kyle. They then went to Billy and Victoria's, where Noah and Abby joined the family. Reed asked where Victor was and Nikki apologized for Victor not being able to make it. Victoria stated that Victor just didn't care about his family, but Abby wished that he could be there. Nikki didn't want them to bad-mouth Victor at Christmas and reminded them how lucky they were to have each other. "Victor has nothing," she said sadly and encouraged them to wish Newman well, even if it wasn't in person. Nikki then raised a toast to Victor and everyone joined in. "They miss you," Sabrina told him. "Some do, some don't," he shrugged. Sabrina soon returned him to his bedroom and he was sorry to see her leave. She warned him to beware ignorance, noting that sometimes he refuses to see things outside of his narrow point of view. "Unless you do something about it, you're doomed," she declared.
At 3 a.m., Victor was visited by a silent, shrouded figure whom he correctly concluded was the "Ghost Of Yet To Come." Victor rolled his eyes and was prepared to see his bleak future. They stopped by the Abbotts where Jack was calling Victoria to congratulate her on her work with Beauty Of Nature. Jack then called for his beautiful wife — Nikki! They next saw Billy and Victoria playing cards with a little girl, their daughter. Billy noted that their daughter had never met Victor, for which Victoria was grateful. They turned on the TV to watch a famous Abby giving an interview about her new season of THE NAKED HEIRESS, new clothing line and new book. Next, they went to Newman Enterprises, where Nick was now in charge. Noah was angry with Nick for blowing off him, Summer and Faith. Nick — sounding very much like Victor — asked him to leave, explaining that he had work to do. Victor was saddened to see his son behaving like this. They then went to the graveyard where a sobbing Sharon was putting flowers on Adam's grave. Finally, they traveled to Victor's bedroom, where Victor saw himself dead in bed. He felt the body and realized that he'd died a while back — and that no one had found him. The scene cut to a funeral, where Nikki was thanking everyone for attending. An uncomfortable Nick and Abby bailed to go to work. Billy tried to comfort an upset Victoria. Victor became emotional and concluded that the shrouded figure was Colleen. He regretted doing wrong with her heart and promised to change for the better.
At 6 a.m., Victor awoke — and the picture was now back in color. He realized that it was Christmas and gave his staff a day off and a holiday bonus. He next went to congratulate Ashley and Tucker on their engagement and wish Traci a happy holiday; he also gave Diane the day off. He then brought Victoria flowers and entered her home with bags of gifts for the family. Nikki smiled as she watched him play with his grandkids and hug Abby. "God bless us, everyone," a stunned Billy said. Later, Victor thanked Nikki and wished her a Merry Christmas.
Victor returned home and dressed his dog in reindeer antlers. Aww! Way to get into the holiday spirit!
