Monday
Unable to sleep, Nikki found herself surrounded by happiness at the GCAC, but refrained from boozing. Instead, she called someone to meet her. Nearby, Neil's stories about Lily's childhood turned to talk about Nikki's preemie grandbaby. He and Karen were about to invite Nikki to join them when David showed up. Then their date was cut short altogether because Victor called Neil. On their way out, they gave Nikki and David their best, which made Nikki grumble about how there could be "happy couples and happy families" when her world was so unhappy. David wanted to help her relax, so they went to the hospital, where they ran into Brad, who was keeping vigil outside the NICU window. After a nurse brought them coffee, Brad said "my" son should have a name, suggesting he take the first initial from Brad's father's name, Arthur. They had a few giggles over A names, but then Nikki respectfully explained naming would be a task for Victoria and whomever ends up being IDed as the daddy. When Brad fell asleep, Nikki and David sent him home. He agreed to go for a shower and change, but insisted he'd be back. David was "amazed" by Nikki's strength and invited her to get some shut eye with him, but she turned him down.
Sharon showed up at Victor's unannounced with flowers for Victoria and concern for him, since he'd become a person of interest in Ji Min's case and had been searched. When Victor asked, she told him Jack was responsible for the search at Newman Ranch, "and that's just one of the reasons why I'm angry with him...The truth is, I'd rather be here with you and Victoria than home with my own husband." After she visited with Victoria, Victor suggested she stay at her old place and gave her the keys. When Neil arrived, he carefully advised, "Do not make business decisions for personal reasons." Victor countered it was all personal with Nikki and ordered him to call in her loan.
Jack left Sharon a beseeching message and poured himself a drink. Then his father showed up to reprimand him, insisting Sharon was right to mistrust a man who would betray his own father. He ordered Jack to put down his drink and "face the celestial music." GhostJohn wasn't surprised when Sharon called to say she was "home" for the night, referring to her old place. Jack professed his love for her to his father, and John countered that's how he'd felt about his own wife, Gloria. Jack rolled his eyes and set out to "bring my wife home." She wouldn't come to the door, so he started pleading his defense through it. She turned the light off and said she was turning in, but kept listening to his pleas. When he got back home, he and John watched the news, which reported a "firestorm" of support building for Jack's impeachment or resignation. After Jack gave Ben a statement to put off making a statement, John told him to worry about Gloria instead and reprimanded him for the way he'd treated her. He compared his unpopular faith in Gloria to Sharon's in Jack, and then accused Jack of throwing Sharon's trust away. Jack realized "the best part of me" was the man he was with Sharon and Noah. "I will be the man Sharon married," he promised and rushed back to the ranch, but she was gone. She had agreed to meet Brad and was at the GCAC giving him a pep talk. When talk turned to Jack, she worried she'd been crazy to marry him, like everyone said. Brad told her he knew just what she had to do, "and I can help you."
Jeff met Gloria at the GCAC bar and immediately showed her a burn on his hand from the tainted Jabot cream. "It must have killed [William] when he found out it was you — that his own wife caused someone to die," Jeff smiled, but Gloria played innocent, demurring she'd "love to know who did it." Jeff was undeterred and promised he'd nail her. She threatened to go to the police, so he offered to join her, showing her the note from William that said, "Don't let her get away with it." Gloria laughed, noting it didn't say "her" name and suggesting the "her" could be Jill. Before leaving, she huffed that William would "be ashamed of the way you're treating his widow," but it was clear the incident knocked the wind out of her sails.
Tuesday
After another bad press day for Jack, Ben insisted he had to put out a press release. Sharon marched in, so Ben excused himself. Jack asked where she'd been the night before and she didn't hesitate to tell him she'd been with Brad. "I'm glad you have someone you can confide in," Jack demurred, but he wished it were him — or at least not Brad! She empathized when Jack revealed, "If I don't resign, there's talk of impeachment," but she couldn't help reminding him, "You did it to yourself." She lost her patience as she talked about how easily he lied and then she worried about how it would all affect Noah, so when Jack again offered the excuse he'd been protecting his father from Gloria, she stormed out. When Ben continued pushing for a statement, Jack ranted about everything he was losing. After reviewing all the good he'd done as senator, however, he apologized for venting and admitted he was "still struggling with the idea that Gloria — Gloria! — brought an end to my political career." Ben insisted it didn't have to be over and revealed, "I was planning on getting you to the White House." Jack agreed to the press conference and Ben assumed he'd gotten through to him, but when Sharon returned, Jack told her, "I'm resigning." She was glad, but insisted one "right thing" wasn't going to fix anything. He understood he may have lost her for good, but asked her to at least stand next to him at the press conference. She was with him when he told reporters, "The controversies that surround me today threaten to overshadow any possible good I might do in the future. Therefore, I am today resigning from the State Senate."
Nikki awoke on a chair in the NICU and when David arrived, she was feeling hopefully about Victoria. She was less hopeful about living with Victor, so over breakfast at the GCAC, David suggested they buy their own place and bring Victoria there. Nikki felt Victoria should wake up in her own place, and he understood. When business called David away, Sharon stepped in and Nikki got the idea to stay at Sharon's old place at the ranch. Sharon looked unsure as she said, "Of course." Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Victor expressed hope Victoria would open her eyes that day. Neil again asked if this was the proper time to call in Nikki's loan. Victor insisted today was the day and then set out to the hospital, where he found Brad and JT waiting to see the baby. The potential dads had been up all night with worry and commiserated over the frustration of not knowing which of them was the baby's daddy. They blamed the Newmans for putting off the DNA test and it didn't help their attitude when Victor cut to the front of the line to see the baby. Later, when Brad asked a nurse after the baby's health, he was given the brush-off. He told Sharon he was feeling excluded, but then the "one nurse that takes pity on me and lets me in now and again" showed up and let him visit with the baby. As soon as he walked in, he saw something was wrong with the baby's breathing and alarms started sounding, so the doc rushed him out. Later, the doc told him, JT and Nikki there was carbon monoxide in his lungs. Since a blood test was required, the guys begged Nikki to okay the paternity test. She agreed, so the trio brought the request to Victor, who balked, since learning the paternity would take away his control over the baby. However, he ultimately approved the test.
Gloria was worried about Jeff, but Kevin was confident she'd covered her bases. Then Gloria learned her bosses had a meeting scheduled with Jeff! When he showed up, Kevin insisted their Fresh Faces of Jabot meeting with Jill and Katherine had to continue, but the Chancellors were too intrigued by Jeff's promise of "a new business proposal that we wouldn't be able to resist." They excused Kevin and Gloria, but before she got out, Jeff told her, "There's no proposal. I'm telling them everything." Kevin suggested she disappear into hiding and she agreed, but then balked at leaving behind her life in Genoa City. Instead, she practiced her denial speech until the trio stumbled out of their meeting all smiles. After excited talk of the "proposal," Kay and Jill were ready to get back to the Faces business. Jeff grinned as a confused Gloria followed the ladies into the conference room. Later, he tracked her down to the GCAC, where she was having a lunchtime martini. "You'll never have to spend another second wondering whether I'll tell the world what it is you've done," he offered. "All you have to do...is marry me."
Wednesday
Torn between anger and empathy, Nick compared Jack's televised resignation to clips of Nixon's resignation speech. Phyllis felt bad for Jack and imagined Sharon wasn't "too thrilled with him." Sharon was, in fact, railing on Jack about how this turn of events would affect Noah and was little moved by his apologetic stance. When Sharon started telling Noah Jack's news, the poor kid assumed someone had died. That made Jack's admission easier to take, but Noah still wanted an explanation. Jack admitted he'd "told some real whoppers" before they'd become a family and was learning from his mistakes, only to have Sharon chime in, "Sometimes apologizing just isn't enough." After Jack conceded he had to face the consequences, Noah gave him an understanding hug. When Nick called to check on Sharon later, he decided to be there when Jack and Noah returned from the Christmas fair. He showed up early with a box of their old Christmas decorations and worried over Noah with Sharon, but suggested it might be worth waiting out the good Jack, "Unless you think that letter that Gloria read to the ethics committee is for real." Sharon admitted she'd known what she was getting into with Jack, but feared this might be too much. Unpacking old ornaments sent them down memory lane. Nick was glad he couldn't remember cheating on her, but Sharon had to admit he and Phyllis were good together. As for Jack, Sharon sighed, "Even if I were able to forgive him, I'd never be able to trust him again." She seemed ready to leave him, but was too worried about Noah to do it, especially during the holidays.
Phyllis tracked Jack down at the GCAC, where he told her, "I think I found rock bottom." When she asked if the letter was legit, he blamed Gloria and seemed to stand behind his actions. They bonded over loving Noah like their own and being "a big, crazy, dysfunctional family," but Jack feared Sharon would leave him. As he rehashed how Gloria got the goods on him, Phyllis mumbled Jana's name. Before she could explain, however, he realized it was time to pick up Noah, so they went together. When they got Noah home, he had a new star for the top of the tree and was happy that, "except for my baby sister and Daniel, the whole family's here." When Phyllis and Nick got home, she revealed Gloria got the incriminating letter because of what she'd told Jana.
Back at the bar, Gloria was floored by Jeff's marriage proposal and countered she didn't love him. "Love? Noun, four letters, definition: overrated. As opposed to 'prisoner.' Eight letters, definition: You," he threatened before leaving her to consider his deal. She returned to work, where Kevin was a'bubble over Jack's fall, but she popped his mood with her own news. They were both sure Jeff's plan was to marry her, send her to jail and enjoy her money. "It's kind of brilliant," Kevin admitted, but insisted she had to turn him down. When they brainstormed on her next move, Kevin suggested running and then insinuated he knew people who could kill Jeff. Then he was called away on biz and Jeff showed up. Jeff challenged that Gloria found him attractive and would "grow to love me." Then he smirked he was winning, only to lay down another threat, insinuating her boys would likely get in trouble with her if she turned down his proposal. When Kevin returned, he wanted to tape Jeff and turn him into the cops, but Gloria had accepted defeat, shuddering, "I have to marry that man."
Nearby, waitress Colleen apologized to Amber and Daniel for the delay on their to-go order. Then she checked on Lily, who was reviewing the Fresh Face of Jabot contest rules. All she had to do was "submit a statement saying why I think I make a good candidate, and then I upload a video," but as Lily said that, her computer froze. Daniel came to the rescue and they were able to laugh together before he got it fixed. When their order was ready, Amber called him away and bragged, "I can take her." He couldn't believe she was still planning on entering the contest as "Marina" and refused to help. After she got into her disguise, Daniel tried another tack, praising Amber's real traits, physical and otherwise, and insisted she'd regret entering as Marina. Needless to say, that didn't stop her. Her competition, Lily, was decidedly less cocky. She struggled with her statement, so Colleen outlined, "You lost your mom in a terrible accident, but you've managed to stay in college and get on the dean's list. You work part-time and you got a green project at the U." Then Cane showed up, insisting she was the "perfect" candidate and showering her with flirtatious compliments.
Thursday
Colleen called her dad, who was at the Newmans to visit Victoria and then off to the hospital. They both hoped the baby was his, but Colleen admitted, "I just wish it didn't have to break J.T.'s heart." After they discussed meeting up later, she went to see J.T., who was at home alone, doing shots and hurtin'. He wasn't in the mood for her pie or "fun," but she insisted he force himself. She explained she was there to "be a friend," and refused to leave. After he showered up, he teased that he hoped her cooking had improved. They were going to watch a movie, but instead he reminisced about Victoria's pregnancy habits. She told him he'd be an amazing father and then served up the manicotti. Uh-oh. Turned out Victoria had made the dish just before Clear Springs and he'd been saving it for when she woke up. Colleen wrapped it back up and apologized.
Neil found Victor at the NICU, where Baby Newman had been given "one of those cardiopulmonary gizmos" to help him breathe. They bonded as fathers and fans of Victoria, and then Neil promised, "This too will pass." After the doc said the "C-pap" was working, she let Victor visit with his grandson. Meanwhile, Brad was sent away from the Newman ranch with the explanation that he couldn't see Victoria when Victor wasn't home. Then when he got to the hospital, the docs refused to update him on the baby's condition and told him to talk to "the child's guardian" — Victor, of course. Frustrated Brad kept his cool and got a baby update from Neil at the NICU window. When Victor came out the men sparred, but never raised their voices. Victor ordered Brad to stay away from Victoria. When Neil advised his boss to go home, Victor refused to leave the baby alone, let alone let Brad stay there in his place. When Brad tried to go in to visit with the baby, Victor stopped him. "If I am the father, I will do everything I can to keep you away from him," Brad warned.
Kevin and Gloria discussed her predicament over cocoa. Kev wanted her to write Jeff a check, but she was intent on accepting Jeff's marriage proposal to "buy some time to figure out what I am going to do." When Michael, Lauren and the baby got home, Michael immediately recognized there was a conversation of interest under way, but Gloria and Kevin covered with talk of Jill donating Jabot cosmetics to a battered women's shelter. When left alone again, Kevin again offered to have Jeff offed, but Gloria had her own plan. She was going to meet Jeff and instructed Kevin to keep Michael and Lauren away from the GCAC. When Michael caught her on the way out, she said she was going Christmas shopping, but once she left, Michael grilled Kevin. He eventually "admitted" Gloria was buying Michael a fancy phone for Christmas. Just when Kev started to relax, however, Michael and Lauren suggested eating at the GCAC. While the giddy couple showered, Kevin left a message warning his mom, who was busy asking Jeff what his expectations would be as her future hubby. Jeff accused her of stalling, but answered, "I just want you to keep me in comfort. We can work out the details before the I dos." Gloria accepted his proposal, with the caveat that he had to "convince the entire world that you love me" before they announced it. He agreed and got started right away, kissing her neck just as her family walked in. After Michael made facetious shopping barbs to his lying mother, Jeff suggested they all eat together. He played it über-friendly through the meal, even offering to babysit sometime, and commended Gloria's and his performance on his way out. That left Michael to question Kevin again. He played dumb and then they all grimaced at spotting Gloria and Jeff necking. When Gloria returned to the table, Michael demanded an explanation. She said she was "enjoying his company" and "It's only natural that I would, you know, start feeling something for him." Michael lost his patience when she said she wanted Jeff to spend the holiday with them.
Friday
David picked up Nikki at the NICU window and then got her settled at Sharon's place at the ranch with groceries and the offer of a home-cooked meal. Victor called to let her know he was going out, so she could visit Victoria without him there. When she told David, he tried to tell her about Victor calling in her loans, but then said he'd wait to discuss over dinner later. When she got to the house, Victor was still there, but it wasn't uncomfortable. They bonded over their "kid" Zapato and then talked about the paternity test. She played the piano later, and Victor was moved as he listened from the stairs. He brushed the tears away and joined her for some holiday reminiscence. They agreed to have Christmas at the house and then Victor said he was off to work, so Nikki left. "She has no idea, Zapato, does she?" Victor sighed. "I guess I'm gonna have to tell her." He flashed back to last Christmas, when he'd given her NVP as a gift, and then he took Zapato on a walk to see her. What he saw was her in a liplock with David! Zapato barked and interrupted the kiss, but no one was at the door when Nikki opened it. She didn't notice the mail Victor had left until she walked David to the door after dinner. She immediately called and thanked him for the delivery.
J.T. tried to send Colleen home, but she insisted on seeing him eat first. Then Lily called, so Colleen said they'd meet her at the club, but J.T. ditched them to visit the baby. Undeterred, they ordered food to go. Meanwhile, Cane tracked J.T. down at the hospital with his own food offering. They talked about fatherhood and the impending DNA results until the girls showed up with their food. While Cane took the extra food to the nurse's station, Lily changed her tune and said she could stick around. "You are so into him,' Colleen teased. Lily later told Colleen she hoped the baby was J.T.'s. Colleen was rooting for her dad, but was sure they'd both make great parents. Colleen excused herself when Cane returned, leaving Cane to invite Lily over for Christmas. However, she was volunteering where Dru used to work. Since Cane was taking Lily home, Colleen returned to NICU, where J.T. was taking pics of the baby. "Boy, these women just can't seem to stay away from you," he joked to his potential son before joining her.
Amber, who'd gone shopping in her Marina disguise, was still upset with Daniel because he wasn't supporting her plan to enter the Jabot contest incognito. He was worried about his job, what with Jack out of the senate, but offered to make amends to her with dinner. He was floored when he saw the $3,000 video camera Amber bought, but she shrugged it off and they set out. Unfortunately, Daniel hit a parked car in the lot. Gina helped him track down the owner — Heather! He balked at getting the repair done at the dealer, but she countered, "I need it done right, so you've got two choices: Either call your insurance carrier or pay out of pocket." He stuttered and stammered, only to find his insurance card was expired, which led Heather to huff that driving without insurance was illegal. When he told Amber what happened, she suggested a great mechanic, Vlad. Amber even called Vlad and asked him to take good care of Heather. When Heather returned, she was relieved at how small a ding it was and apologized to Daniel. He suggested Vlad and insisted on renting a car for her, but when Cane came in, he said "Vlad" was actually Mickey McCullin, and the repair shop a chop shop. Heather, who'd prosecuted the guy repeatedly, was back to being snotty and left set on seeing the dealer. Daniel and Cane argued until Gina told them to quiet down. The kitchen was closing, so Lily and Cane took off, while Daniel glowered at Amber. Amber apologized profusely, but he gave her his car keys, told her to drive herself home and stormed out. When Gina told Amber she was closed, Amber pointed out the man in the back. Gina said she was with him, to which Amber cheered, "Way to go, Gina!"
Lily and Cane stopped by his office and when she found the "environmental impact statement" he needed for his morning meeting, they moved in for a kiss. They resisted, then gave in...only to be interrupted by a vacuum before their lips met. Instead of going for the kiss, they agreed it was time to get moving.
