Monday

At the coffeehouse, Kevin ranted about the dangers of Jana's operation, which were due to the financial delay caused by the insurance company's refusal to pay for it. Colleen tried to talk him down, insisting this was Jana's chance for a "normal life." Then Adrian called to say he was back in town. Colleen didn't look thrilled. She said she'd meet up with him, but then shrugged to Kevin, "I'll see him later." Kevin called her out on being afraid to see him and she complained that Adrian had treated her like a child. "He didn't want you involved in baiting a killer back to town? God, how narrow-minded of him," Kevin quipped and sent her back to her man. The reunion was uncomfortable, so Adrian tried to warm things up with gifts from the Czech Republic and Paris. When he made an offhand comment about the museum job he'd lost in Paris, Colleen figured out her father had donated a painting to keep him from getting said job. Adrian insisted he was "over it" and asked for an update on local events.

Amber tried to talk to Kevin, but he gave her attitude. He was impatient with her "freaking out" and told her to "suck it up." Then he went to see Jana and gave her a pep talk. After she mooned over the life they'd have after her surgery, he kissed her. Adrian showed up, wanting to see Jana's condition for himself. Kevin tried to excuse them, but instead Jana apologized to Adrian and asked for his forgiveness. After he turned talk to Kutna Hara, he asked Jana if she'd let him interview her. She asked him to stick around, but it soon became clear she had slipped into "la-la land." When she was wheeled away, Kevin told Adrian it wasn't worth interviewing her since her memory/brain wasn't reliable, but Adrian waited around to ask how Brad was connected to her family. She revealed Brad had a false identity!

A mopey Noah pushed Sharon to take him to see Phyllis, who was at the tack house talking to Daniel, Nick and Michael about her "close call" with probation officer. Unlike Michael, the crew was "optimistic," but there was a knock on the door and Michael was served with a motion to have her bail revoked. They were headed back to court thanks to the airport photo of her wearing the wig. Phyllis figured what mattered was that she didn't run, but Michael soon had her worried. After Nick brought Summer in, Noah showed up and asked to stay with them until she had to go to jail. The group agreed and then tried to distract Noah from the recent happenings. When the kids left, Phyllis accused Sharon of turning her in for attempting to jump bail, but Sharon denied it and Nick backed her up. Of course, Sharon went straight to Brad and asked why he'd done it, but she already knew. She vented about Noah's concern for Phyllis, but Brad was sure her son would realize that it wasn't Sharon's "fault." Then talk turned to his concerns about Colleen and Adrian's investigations into Brad's past. Earlier, Brad had again told Adrian he'd never trafficked in stolen art, but when he wouldn't share his real story, Adrian just shrugged that he'd keep digging. Brad was worried, but when Sharon left, he was smiling. Colleen changed that, storming in and blasted him for killing Adrian's museum job.

Not knowing she was talking to her dad, assistant district attorney Heather threw compliments and thanks at Paul for getting her the photo of Phyllis. Brad listened smugly as Heather said she'd probably have to revoke Phyllis' bail. When Paul ran into Michael at the courthouse, the nervous lawyer gave him an earful. Phyllis followed shortly after and called him a "bastard." Then she told him, "If you hurt me again, I'm going to make sure that you're in the cell next to me." Heather then made her case that Phyllis is a flight risk, but the judge asked Phyllis to speak on her own behalf. With great emotion, she explained she'd wanted to run with her baby, but couldn't take Nick's girl or abandon her son. "I came back. That has to count for something," she implored. The judge was moved, letting her stay on parole, but with a monitoring device. She and Nick went home, where they caught up Noah and Daniel. Phyllis was happy to be with family, but Daniel told Amber, "The chances of she and I both getting off without doing time? Come on. It's one in a million."

Tuesday

Colleen raged against Brad for meddling in her life, let alone Adrian's. He countered that she'd understand once she had kids, but she interrupted, claiming the kids would never come: "I'm too afraid they'll turn out like you." She insisted his machinations to keep Adrian out of the Paris job weren't that different from what Phyllis had done to him, and sniffed that he deserved what he got before turning her back to him. After he asked her not to be Adrian's researcher, she walked away, but not before pointing out Sharon and suggested Brad focus on ruining her life instead. Sharon was with Jack, who had put together a rather fancy scavenger hunt for her. He wanted to get her out of her "funk" with "something perfectly silly and frivolous." The first stop was the GCAC and she was proving to be a pro at the clues. When Jack stepped away to take a call, Brad moved in, as if following Colleen's instructions. He asked Sharon if she'd told Jack about kissing Nick. She said no, because it had been a mistake and then Jack returned, so she turned her attention to him. After a few more clues, Sharon got her prize with a full body massage, but Jack handed her the next clue, which led her to two plane tickets to France. "A honeymoon we never had," he smiled and then handed her another envelope: a ticket for Noah. Sharon was touched, but once alone she couldn't stop thinking of Nick.

Jana went from lucidly confirming Brad's fake identity to babbling about her kids, but Adrian continued questioning her. When she apologized for trying to frame him, he again brought talk back to his book research. When she mentioned bugging the Carltons, Adrian worried about whether he could trust her clarity. He rose to leave, but she called him back to tell him Brad's real name. At the same time, Kevin was off worrying about her, but Gloria wanted him to focus on himself instead of Jana. She might come out of surgery unchanged, worse or better, but she was still off to prison. He ignored that and revealed he had Jana's medical power of attorney, asking his mom's advice about what to do if something happens. She talked it out with him, urging him to find a lucid moment to ask Jana what she wants, so he went to see her. She said she was hoping for a happy ending, but he stayed on point and pushed her for an answer. "Morality is so relative," she said, but he just cared about what mattered to her. She talked of the demons who'd taken over her mind and assumed that just as she always came back from them, she'd come back from the surgery. She concluded if something went wrong, but she was still alive, to remember: "I will come back to you." Later, he snuck in to spend the night with her. He held her in the tiny bed and played along as she asked about their kids.

Still at the GCAC, Brad called Logan for a last-minute date. She revealed she hadn't gotten a job at the hospital and was going to Malawi with Doctors without Borders. Brad was left sitting all alone in a crowded bar, while Adrian was filling in Colleen about what he'd learned. He was ready to shrug it off as Jana's craziness, but Colleen confirmed it. She called her grandmother a hero and told him their family story. He felt the heroic story belonged in his book, but, "only if you say so. This is your legacy."

Phyllis was uncomfortable in her police monitoring anklet, so after finding a reason to touch her, Nick suggested socks. Then she noticed something was wrong with Summer and Nick found their baby "was burning up." Their pediatrician was MIA, so they called in Logan. Phyllis paced around with the baby while she and Nick discussed what would happen after she went to jail. When Logan stopped by, she said they were handling things well, but to call if the fever spiked. Phyllis was still holding Summer, rocking her in the chair as she told Nick more things about their daughter. She cried as she sang a lullaby and Summer finally fell asleep. Nick teased Phyllis, getting her to smile again. After he fixed her ankle monitor, she got a cramp from holding Summer. He massaged it and then came around to look at her. He called her beautiful and later, after he put Summer in her crib, he asked Phyllis to dance. She held tight and cried, telling him they used to dance naked all the time. He didn't remember, but said, "I'm learning it again for the first time."

Wednesday

Phyllis was up all night with Summer, which further impressed Nick. When she listed a host of errands for the day, including shopping, a pediatrician visit, work and the gym, he suggested she "forget the small stuff." She prioritized her kids, saying she wanted to help Daniel with his problems, so Nick said he'd join. She let him massage her while she packed up, but wanted to see her son on her own.

At Crimson Lights, Kevin grumbled over the future of the planet, so Daniel quipped that he did "his part" by skipping a shower for the day. Of course, Amber used enough water for all of them. Then Daniel set out to get work done for Jack, while Kev learned Jana's surgery wasn't going to happen for two weeks and lost it. "I want this surgery done now!" he demanded and hung up. When Daniel called in a panic because his file for Jack crashed, Kevin brushed him off to call Michael in his own panic. Michael rushed over and said he'd do what he could to help Jana.

Nikki and David went over Clear Springs paperwork, but they still didn't have the plans for Jack's casino. She was sure it would be a "gaudy architectural mess" (she was wrong) and was sure Jack would use his Senate power to cut corners. Then they joked about having breakfast in bed and after concluding biz, David suggested they "get down to the personal." Nikki called her suitor "tenacious," but clearly enjoyed it and after a chat with Nick about him, she set a date with David. When Jack arrived for his meeting with her, Daniel had to tell them there was a problem with the report on the casino specs. Nikki rolled her eyes over Daniel. As she laid into Jack over hiring "this person who is either lying or inept," Phyllis stormed in with Nick. Instead of arguing, Nikki walked out. Just then, Daniel got the computer fixed, but Jack told him not to show Nikki. While Nick reprimanded his mom and discussed her status with Victor and David, Jack and friends laughed after her. Then Daniel asked Jack to be a character witness for him. Jack of course agreed and sent Daniel to have a last meal with Phyllis. They hit Crimson Lights and made some jokes about jumping bail, looked up movie times and then had a heart-to-heart talk. "We all screw up. You're going to let people down," she cautioned and continued shooting advice at him until the movie. After the flick, they met Nick and Summer for family time at home.

Ji Min and Jill had breakfast in bed. Ji Min wanted to nibble on her, but she was set on talking business. As they dressed, she talked about Perfume on the Glow, but he didn't want to go up against Jabot. He suspected her real goal was to beat her mother, not make a good biz decision, and wished Jill would work things out with Katherine. (Yeah, right!) Then they went to the GCAC dining hall downstairs, where Michael and Katherine were having a breakfast meeting. Kay wanted to amend her trust and disinherit her daughter. She was going to split her money among charities, her son and her grandchildren. As her "friend," Michael questioned her "motives," but Kay just raged about Ji Min. She refused to make another mistake by accepting him. Michael countered that her "message" to Jill would feel more like a power play. He suggested she let Jill figure Ji Min out for herself and warned she might lose Jill. She was willing to risk it. When Jill and Ji Min took Michael's place and told her they were going "head to head with Jabot," Katherine laughed. She quickly lost patience and after a whispered shouting match, Jill excused herself. Kay accused Ji Min and Jill of using each other for their own means and gave the relationship months. She'd put them on edge and while she was signing the new will, Jill went to ask Jack for the real story about Ji Min. He responded that either Ji Min was an idiot who'd been duped into buying Jabot for Jack or a savvy, shady businessman who knew what he was getting into and had it in him to be taking advantage of her. Neither option sounded good.

Colleen was impressed by Adrian's manuscript, calling it "awesome" and "brilliant." He was excited to add the info about the Carlton/Kaplan clan, but wondered if he should alert Brad. Colleen warned that Brad would never let the book be published if he did. As she was leaving, Jana called and asked Adrian to visit. When he arrived, she waxed philosophical about her situation and concluded, "I'm just grateful that if anything happens to me, Kevin will have Colleen to take care of him." Ouch! Colleen was doing just that, trying to talk Kevin out of a panic cycle as he finally realized, "I could lose her."

Thursday

Tension was high as the Clear Springs power players psyched up for the big meeting. Nick wanted to bow out to hang with Phyllis, rather than "referee the latest installment of the Newman family feud," but she insisted he go. Victor huffed to Neil that Nikki would be wise to leave David behind and she was on the same page, but unintimidated David was set on attending. Once everyone (Kay, Cane, Jack, Victor, Nikki, David and Nick) filed in, Neil took the lead, saying they needed "a long-term solution for the extra expenses caused by the methane gas at Clear Springs." The group was surprised to learn Victor lent Nikki the money to cover it, with her marital assets as collateral. Nick was horrified, but Cane was ready to get back to work and anticipated finishing on schedule. "If there are no other complications," Victor said ominously before the meeting broke. Katherine was sure he was up to something, as was Nick, who stayed to question his father's motives. He hedged, so Nick asked if his parents were heading for divorce. Victor said it was Nikki's decision. His rehash of events put Nikki very much in the wrong and Nick had to agree she was "the unreasonable one." Later, Victor and Neil discussed their top-secret research on drilling the methane in Clear Springs. "I don't want anyone knowing that I own the drilling rights," he reminded Neil. Meanwhile, David admitted he wasn't pleased with Nikki's move. "My specialty is convincing people to hand over a lot of money while making them feel good about it," he reminded. Worried about Victor's intentions, he rustled up a few backup loan proposals. She stuck with her own deal.

Jack ran into Phyllis and Summer, who were killing time waiting for Nick. When talk turned to her sentencing the next day, she choked up. Then she revealed she'd gotten "perspective" on "how I messed things up between us." She admitted she'd "thought we were soul mates", but Jack pooh-pooed such "mushy, gooey-gooey stuff" as a card maker's invention. He waxed semi-romantic about Sharon, but Phyllis warned that Sharon needs male validation and that with Jack traveling for work and her in prison, "Sharon will run to Nick." Sharon, meanwhile, found Noah on the phone with the prison, asking what Phyllis would be doing there. He wanted to make her a video, "but they don't have a DVD player, and they won't let her watch TV very much. They sounded mean." Sharon suggested he make her a card and write. He just wanted to visit and she said "as often as you want." When she got to Newman, she avoided talking to Phyllis and hid in Neil's office. When he found her, she extrapolated on balancing her own hateful feelings for Phyllis with those of her adoring hubby and son. He offered to be the confidante she'd lost in Dru. She laughed, but then after raving about Great Jack, she shocked herself by admitting, "I think I'm falling in love with Nick again." Neil insisted she not forget their past, just because Nick had. Later, she found Jack mulling over Phyllis' warning, but he only said, "I'm worried about an investment I've put an awful lot into." When they got home, her surprise for him was waiting. After he opened it, they made out. Back at the tack house, Phyllis handled her chat with Jack differently. She told Nick she wanted a divorce if she went to prison!

Ji Min showed Jill the slogan he had drawn up, but she was worried about Jack's warning that, "Either Ji Min doesn't know the first thing about business, doesn't do his homework on deals and is easily duped, or...he is very bright, very ruthless and willing to take advantage of every opportunity, including you." Jill bowed out of a loan meeting to have lunch with Cane, where talk went immediately to Kay's will, which Jill said she didn't need. He asked if Ji Min was worth her relationship with her mom and she admitted she was now doubting him. Cane told her to talk to Ji Min, but recognized, "Either way, the trust is broken. It's not going to be easy to get it back." Then he told her about Amber and the fake marriage. "No one will ever mess with me or my mom, ever again," he said threateningly. Later, Jill told Ji Min he wasn't a fool and she was sure he'd lied to her about Jack. After he admitted it, nothing could keep her from walking out.

Friday

Phyllis signed full custody of Summer over to Nick in case she got the maximum during today's sentencing hearing. She wanted to Nick to divorce her as well, but Nick tore up those papers. "I'm not divorcing you based on the outcome. Not going to happen. So deal with it," he said as he gave her a passionate kiss. "Take that to court with you."

Sharon told Jack she didn't want to go to the sentencing hearing. Phyllis asked Jack to come to court as "a sympathetic face," she explained. Jack promised to be there. He assured Sharon he wouldn't be making any kind of statement. Lauren and Michael came by Phyllis' to bring her to court. Nick, Summer and Lauren went out for some air. They talked about what a wonderful person Phyllis was deep down. Phyllis showed Michael the speech she had drafted.

Neil begged Sharon to testify at the sentencing hearing, but she refused. Not so shy was Brad, who called Phyllis "a menace" from the witness stand. "I have never gone out of my way to destroy someone's marriage the way Phyllis did," he said. Phyllis looked at him in disbelief. Nikki was next to blast her, followed by Neil. He said people would always question his seat on the Newman board because of Phyllis. Speaking directly to her, he asked her if she knew what it was like to have one's competency questioned. He also blamed her for Drucilla's death, but the defense objected to that remark. They also objected to the imminent testimony of Lily as a character witness, but she was allowed to speak. Lily also accused Phyllis of killing her mother. "My mom would be alive if it weren't for you, Phyllis. You hurt my family," Lily insisted. Michael jumped up to object but the judge shushed him. "I will never forgive you, Phyllis," Lily said as the camera panned to a pensive Daniel. Finally, Daniel took the stand to defend his mother. Jack and Phyllis both smiled at his heartfelt words. He rattled off all her wonderful qualities. Phyllis teared up when her son said she wasn't evil. "She is full of love," he said as he left the stand. Phyllis heard Summer making baby sounds in the hallway. Lauren took the baby, which allowed Nick to take the stand. "I'm sure it's difficult to get a clear picture of who my wife really is," he said. He remembered a moment when Phyllis had come to the defense of a young person being bullied. "She looks out for the underdog," he shared with the courtroom. "If my memory were fine I'd have a lot of incidences like that to tell you all. I am proud to call you my wife," he concluded. After he left the stand, Phyllis and Nick hugged while Nikki, Victoria and Brad glared at them. (If looks could kill....)

Lily told her dad and brother that she wanted to hear the judge's ruling. They said they'd stay with her. Phyllis thanked Daniel and Nick for saying what they did. Victoria wondered why her brother made that speech. "I meant what I said," he said to his sister. "Phyllis can't be trusted. She'll play you like a deck of cards," Brad reminded Nick.

After a brief recess, Phyllis spoke on her own behalf. She admitted she had done something that was very wrong. "I harmed a lot of people," she said. Phyllis apologized to her son because he had to hear people say "bad things about your mom." She went on to apologize to Nikki, Brad and Victoria for what she had done to their lives. "It was selfish," she confessed. Phyllis began to cry and then apologized to the Winters family for the death of Drucilla. "I know that anything I feel doesn't compare to the pain that you suffer. It's over. I know. I should go to jail. I acknowledge that," she said as she begged the judge to take her daughter into account when considering her jail time.

Noah was a surprise character witness, telling the court what a wonderful stepmother Phyllis was. Then Sharon took the stand after all. "I wish she hadn't done what she did, but I don't think it was done out of malice, just really bad judgment," she surmised. Sharon confirmed that Phyllis was a good stepmother to Noah. "In prison Phyllis won't be any good to anyone," Sharon reasoned.

The judge said he'd take all the comments into consideration as he made his decision. As he retired to his chambers, Phyllis hugged her son.
