Young and Restless Recaps

Y&R Week of August 18, 2008

Monday

Kevin and Jana exchanged vows in front of all their loved ones at their candlelight ceremony. After their emotional ceremony was complete, Michael and Lauren talked about how strange it was that "River" — also known as Lowell — had showed up to the ceremony. When Gloria got a moment alone with him, she asked why he hadn't called all those years. River said he never wanted to cause Gloria pain. He told Gloria she did an excellent job with the boys and didn't need him. Gloria disagreed, saying she and Michael both needed him, but he maintained that he had to leave them when he did.

When River and Michael finally sat down to talk, Michael said he knew he was on the run and as a lawyer he had a legal obligation to turn him in. River asked Michael if he had a family, and Michel told him about Fen. Michael noted he thought about Fen all the time, and couldn't understand how his own father never worried about him. As Michael's temper began flaring, River tried to calm him down by ensuring Michael that he did care about him. However, Michael wasn't buying it.

Michael wasn't much comforted by their conversation, but Lauren told him at least he'd finally met his father. At least it was the end of wondering and the end of searching, and he could be happy about that. River told Gloria that his chat with Michael didn't go so well. Gloria believed that Michael would be fine because he was a great father, husband and son.

Later, Kevin and Jana made a toast to all of their guests and thanked them for attending. Daniel made his best man speech, and at the end of his toast he said he hoped to have a relationship as special as theirs. Amber's eyes filled with tears while she listened to Daniel's speech, and she was upset when she later saw Daniel and Colleen go for a walk alone. When Kevin and Jana headed off to the honeymoon suite, Lauren told Michel he should say goodbye to his father. Michael scoffed that they'd missed a lifetime of goodbyes, so one more wouldn't hurt. Once everyone turned in, Colleen and Daniel returned from their walk and got cozy in the pads and pillows. They began kissing and making love.

At Crimson Lights, Cane found Lily and tried to explain why he was marrying Chloe. Lily said they'd already discussed it and that he didn't need to explain anymore. Cane promised he'd end the marriage to Chloe as soon as he could, and kissed Lily goodbye.

Jill walked in and saw how upset Lily was, but before she could check on her, Chloe flashed her new engagement ring and told Jill they needed to talk. When Jill saw the ring, she was nauseated to know Chloe would be her new daughter-in-law. Chloe said she'd be a great wife and mother, but Jill told her she was sure she wouldn't be. Jill told Chloe she needed to get her act together, because she wouldn't allow her to embarrass her family or her company.

At Indigo, Devon railed at Tyra for not telling him about Anna when she first came to town. Neil and Tyra tried to explain, but Devon was furious. Tyra said she wanted to protect Anna from being taken away by child services. She told Devon they all needed to act like everything was normal. When Lily joined them, they told her the news, and Lily agreed they shouldn't tell Anna because she would probably freak out.

Chloe showed up at Cane's to tell him she was ready to move in. Jill soon arrived to lay down her ground rules. When Chloe greeted her, Jill snapped, "If you ever call me mom-in-law again I'll break your neck." Jill told them that everyone knew Cane loved Lily, so they needed a way to officially present themselves as a couple. She told them she would throw them an engagement party at the Chancellor estate. Cane looked furious, and Chloe was pleasantly surprised to see her schemes working out better than expected.

Tuesday

After their sex romp, Daniel and Colleen returned to their respective rooms. They parted with a tender kiss. Colleen told Daniel they should play their next step by ear. Daniel announced that everyone knows they spent the night together, so there goes that big secret.

Jana and Kevin were radiant after their wedding. They caught Amber rushing out to catch a flight back home. Jana told Kevin that she saw Daniel and Colleen together and was pretty sure Amber had seen them too. Uh-oh. Jana told Daniel that Amber was aware of what had happened with Colleen. Jana and Kevin left for their honeymoon as Jana worried about Daniel, Colleen and Jana. "Someone's going to get hurt," she predicted.

Back in Genoa City, Amber retreated to Crimson Lights and ordered a double espresso latte. Katherine was there, working on her memoirs. Kay asked how the wedding was. Amber said it was "Okay," which surprised Kay as "Jana is such a colorful person." Amber admitted that she was down because Colleen and Daniel had sex. Amber wished she could be angry instead of sad. Daniel ran into Amber at the coffeehouse. He explained that what happened with Colleen wasn't planned. Amber tried not to care and claimed she had gone clubbing and met a guy named Liam. She thanked Daniel for making it possible for her to meet a surfer. Daniel thought that was odd, considering she didn't surf.

Jana was thrilled to be called "Mrs. Fisher" by Michael. He admitted that he hadn't slept well because he was relieving the reunion with "old Blowhard" — also known as his long-missing father. Gloria and Jeffrey had already left the ashram. "She was really freaked out seeing River for the first time in 40 years," Kevin explained. River wanted Michael to stay an extra day so they could get reacquainted. Michael wasn't interested. In fact, he reminded him that being abandoned had been very painful. "The past is the past," River noted. He asked to see a photo of Fenmore. "We put his needs before ours," Michael cracked. River wondered if Michael would have preferred a relationship with him that was conducted in prison visiting rooms. "At least I would have known who and what you are," Michael said. River wished them a safe journey and Michael promised not to contact the authorities about River's whereabouts. River was grateful. Michael was glad to be going home. "Do you realize both my parents are murderers?" he told Lauren. His wife reminded him that he had promised River he wouldn't go to the police. Instead, Michael called Victoria for an update on Victor. He noted that Newman Enterprises owns Victor's ranch. "You're Adam's landlord," Nick observed.

Victor was in the same seedy bar as Walter. He gripped Sabrina's jewelry in his hand as he overheard Walter make plans for a fishing trip the following morning. Victor had a toast with the bartender. He asked questions about the boat and offered to take Walter on the trip. Victor gave the earring to the little girl at the bar.

Nick and Victoria reviewed the tips they had received about Victor's whereabouts. Victoria was thrilled to be back at Newman but admitted keeping a close eye on Adam was exhausting. Kay told her she was missed at Jabot, but she understood why she left. Adam showed his sister a bid he had made on a factory in Russia. "You can't bid like this without my approval," Victoria reminded him. Adam thought Victor would be furious if they didn't go after this deal. Victoria wished Adam would go hunt for Victor and never come back.

Adam jokingly asked Heather if there were any openings at her office, adding that when Victor returns he'll be angry at Victoria's decision. He lamented that Victoria and Nick treat him as if he's from another planet. Heather admitted that it was often said she was cold and aloof with coworkers. She assured Adam that he was fun and amazing.

Later, Adam asked Nick about the search for Victor. Nick made a snide remark. Adam insisted he cares as much about Victor as Nick does. A frustrated Adam told Heather that whatever he does, Nick and Victoria still rag on him. Adam believed that Victor disappeared so he could grieve for Sabrina. He didn't think Victor would want to be found.

Nikki told her son about the meeting she and Paul had with the bus driver, who Paul confirmed was a "credible witness." Nick wondered if Victor might have crossed the border into Mexico. Paul let Nikki know that Walter Palin had been seen in El Paso. Nikki realized that Victor was looking for Walter. She insisted on joining Paul on his trip. Paul wasn't keen on the idea, but she insisted.

Kay didn't think Cane was ready to run Jabot. "Stop running my life!" Jill snapped at her mother. Jill assured Cane that he'd make a fine CEO. She promised not to hover over him, as Katherine does over her. Changing subjects, Cane told Jill he was marrying Chloe to protect his child from having a "train wreck of a mother." Jill pointed out that children know when their parents hate each other and predicted the marriage would be a disaster.

Wednesday

Nikki and Paul boarded the private jet to Mexico to find Victor. In Mexico, Victor found Walter and pretended to be a new captain. When Nikki and Paul arrived, they found the bar Victor had been hanging out at. The bartender told them Victor had gone to charter a boat. Nikki worried Victor was in danger because of the storm approaching, but she still wanted to charter a boat to find him.

Jeff and Gloria met at the club, and Gloria talked about how disappointed she was that River showed up to the wedding. While they chatted, Michael showed up and asked to speak to Gloria alone. He railed her for lying to him about his father, but Gloria said she preferred Michael to wonder about his father than to be ashamed of him. Gloria insisted she did what was best for them, but River only wanted what was best for himself. Later, Lauren dropped Fen off at the club, and Michael vowed to never lie to his son.

At Indigo, Trya worried Devon would slip up and tell Ana the truth about her being Yolanda's daughter, but Neil was confident Devon would keep the secret. When Kay stopped by, she told Neil, Tyra and Devon about an arts school in Massachusetts that she often gave students scholarships to attend. She wanted to give Ana a scholarship to pursue music. Tyra was grateful, but she said she couldn't accept it. After some prodding, Tyra said she would think about it, and Kay gave her a number to call. Neil said he'd make sure Tyra called.

When they went home, Tyra told Neil she didn't want to call the school because they'd need all of Ana's records and would find out she wasn't Ana's birth mother. Neil said helping Ana reach her potential was worth the risk of her learning the truth, so Tyra called the school and pretended to be Yolanda. When Ana was on the phone with a friend, the school called her, asking for Yolanda. Ana was confused, then realized that Tyra was pretending to be her mother. She ran to Indigo to tell Devon she knew the truth. When Kay stopped by Neil's she told them she'd saw Ana run out. After Kay learned the truth, they all feared Ana might have learned the truth as well.

At the ranch, Adam and Heather were enjoying an evening alone when Victoria showed up with Michael and two bodyguards to kick Adam off the property.
Victoria said as acting CEO of Newman she had control of the house, since Victor had the papers transferred to the company. Michael backed up Victoria's claim. Adam told his sis she'd be sorry when Victor returned and learned how she'd treated him. Heather told Adam he could stay with her until things settled. Adam promised he'd have them back at the ranch in no time.

At Newman, J.T. told Nick that Walter had a place in Mexico he visited when he wanted to get away. Nick was confident Victor was there looking to seek vengeance on Walter. When J.T. added that Nikki and Paul went there to find Victor, Nick was worried that his mom would be in danger. When Victoria showed up, J.T. told her there was an issue in Dubai that needed immediate attention and Victoria agreed to take a last-minute flight. Nick didn't tell her about Nikki, so they let Victoria leave to prepare for her trip and say goodbye to Reed. Nick soon got a call from Nikki, telling him they were in Mexico. Before Nick could warn them about Walter, he and Nikki lost their connection.

Thursday

At the Restless Style offices, Amber made up stories about a new boyfriend to make Daniel jealous, while Chloe flaunted her new engagement ring. Nick complimented Jack on his article about David, and Jack was surprised he had Nick's support. Nick told him that as long as things were factual, he wouldn't argue. Phyllis applauded Nick's performance, and they discussed a few last-minute changes to the article about Jack that they planned to put in the magazine. While Phyllis worked on the article, Daniel gave her grief about kicking Amber out of the apartment. Phyllis said she didn't want to talk about it anymore.

At the club, Gloria approached Katherine and told her about her concerns that Cane was Jabot's new CEO. Kay asked Gloria why she cared. Gloria said she cared because she was a stockholder, but Kay asked her what she was really up to. Gloria said she couldn't walk away from Jabot, because it was Johns legacy. Kay advised her to let go of Jabot and move on with her life. Once Kay had enough of Gloria insulting her grandson, she told her to enjoy her shares, because it was the closest she'd ever get to the company's glory days.

Gloria asked Jack to meet her so they could discuss how they would take over Jabot. Jack said if they worked together, Gloria would need to keep her mouth shut and run all decisions by him. Gloria agreed, and Jack told her if she tried to screw him over he'd cut her off from anything Abbott related for the rest of her life. Jack told her that if he convinced his sisters to side with her and Jeff, they'd still have to figure out a way to get some of Kay's shares. He suggested Glo cozy up to Kay and figure it out. Gloria immediately went to Kay to apologize. Kay responded by telling her to stay the hell away from her.

Tyra was hysterical when she find out Ana knew Yolanda was her real mother. Neil held her while she cried, and Karen walked in on their embrace. She turned around to leave, but Neil told her to stay and they explained what was going on. At Indigo, Devon tried comforting Ana, but she was angry that Tyra lied to her. Devon assured Ana that Tyra loved her, but Ana wasn't so sure. She was also scared Yolanda might try to take her away. Devon convinced Ana to go home. When they arrived, Tyra hugged Ana and told her she was still her mother and she'd never let anyone take her away. Tyra tried talking some more, but Ana ran off to her room. Devon and Neil agreed that Lily should talk to Ana, since they'd been through a similar experience.

Back at the Restless Style offices, Daniel convinced Phyllis to let Amber stay in the apartment after all. When Jack returned, Phyllis said the issue was complete and everyone had gone home. Jack was pleased and thought the issue would be one of their best. Phyllis knew it would, especially since she and Nick had secretly and successfully squeezed in the article on Jack.

Friday

Paul and Nikki were concerned that Victor's boat was lost in the storm.
Nick's call to them finally got through. He told Paul t there was a mob hit out on Walter. Nick asked him to please be careful. "Things could be more dangerous than you think," he warned. Paul assured him he was on top of it and would keep him posted. The local fisherman told Paul and Nikki that the boat Victor was on was very sturdy.

Chloe woke up Amber because she needed help with the Jabot photo shoot.
Amber fussed and refused to make any decaf for Chloe. Chloe got a call from the movers who were bringing her stuff over to Cane's house today. Nick asked Daniel for some help with Noah. Apparently, the recently-aged Newman has been doing some drinking since he returned from camp. Nick wanted Daniel to "scare the heck out of him." Daniel said he'd give it a shot. When Noah came in, Daniel reminded him that he was 15 once too, and warned him about following the crowd.

Heather dropped by Restless Style to talk to some people who had known David Chow, but she fainted during the interview. Paul was immediately called in Mexico about the collapse, but was assured she'd be okay. Paul wanted to go back to Genoa City ASAP and wanted Nikki to come with him. Nikki refused. "I am staying until I find Victor," she insisted.

Lily had barely slept since Devon told her about Ana. Lily shared that she had gone through the exact same thing. "Neil's not my biological dad," she told the little girl. Ana didn't think she could forgive Tyra. Lily begged Ana to at least forgive Devon. "He just found out the truth," Lily explained.

Later, Lily assured Devon that things would work out. Ana told Devon that she understands that big brothers look out for little sisters. Devon added that they torment them too. Ana and Devon played a game of War, and Ana proceeded to kick his butt. Ana gave Devon a big hug. Tyra wanted to play too, but Ana said she now wanted to live with Devon.

Lily wanted to talk to Cane for a minute. The conversation with Ana had upset her. However, Chloe barged in with news that she was nauseated and needed a place to lie down. Lily left and got ready for the photo shoot. Chloe apologized and Cane let her sit in his office. Brad offered Cane some help. Cane thanked him but said he wasn't interested in office alliances.

Liam made plans to visit Amber and she wanted to show him off at the GCAC, especially since Daniel would be taking Colleen there. Noah accompanied Colleen's date with Daniel, who suggested they go to New York to see his artwork on display. Colleen was more interested in shopping on Madison Avenue. Noah pointed out that Amber was the best girl for Daniel, not Colleen. Amber boasted that Liam had flown in to see her. Colleen and Daniel didn't think that Liam really existed. Daniel told Amber she didn't have to keep up the charade. Amber insisted he wasn't made up and stormed out. Daniel read a text message on Amber's phone. "You've got to be kidding me," he said, assuming Amber had sent it to herself.

Chloe made her presence known at the Restless Style shoot. Jill and Cane, who were already there, were not thrilled to see her. Chloe told Jill she was fine with canceling the engagement party. Jill, however, thought they should have the party as a way to show Jabot customers that they are a happy couple. Chloe didn't want the party at the estate, but Jill wasn't listening. Brad showed up and hinted he was looking for another job. Jill apologized for not telling him that she had made Cane, not him, CEO of Jabot. Still, Brad said he was planning on staying at Jabot for the foreseeable future.

Earlier, Adam complained Heather about Nick and Victoria kicking him out of the ranch, and now they wanted to kick him out of Newman as well. Heather apologized for falling asleep and explained that the Chicago PD was going to reopen the case on the death of David Chow's second wife. Adam made it clear to Heather that his problems were more serious than hers. Heather took offense at Adam's remarks. Adam backtracked, a little. Heather made it clear that she wasn't going to sit by him and say, "Poor, poor Adam."

After her collapse, Adam rushed to the hospital to see Heather. He apologized for being a self-centered ass. The doctor told her that she had a very low red blood cell count and they wanted to admit her to the hospital to get some answers.
Adam was sure it was nothing.

The local police had bad news for Nikki. She immediately called Nick, who was on a small plane heading to Mexico. "What happened to Dad?" he asked. "He's presumed dead," Nikki replied. "Dear God."
