Monday
At Crimson Lights, Devon tried to talk Lily out of getting involved in a "rebound" relationship, but Lily firmly maintained that she wants a date. He offered to take her out himself, however Lily pleaded with him to set her up with one of his hunky friends, rattling off a few likely candidates. He reluctantly made a few phone calls, but reported that all of the guys she was interested in were unavailable, claiming one had moved out of town, another was gay, etc. After Lily urged him to keep at it and left, a cute guy wiping tables, advised Devon to turn on his phone next time or else she'd catch on. Trapped in the sweltering bank vault with Sharon, Nick spoke warmly to her, regretting the breakdown of their marriage and sharing his wish that they'd had another child together. Sharon played it cool. At his insistence, she filled him in on how their marriage soured after Cassie's death, including his affair with Phyllis. "I wish we could go back in time," he sighed before delivering a long a steamy kiss. Sharon eagerly responded, however she dissuaded him from getting too carried away emotionally. He switched gears a bit and sexily asked her to lie down with him, she sexily complied, stroking his bare, muscular arms. After they fell asleep in each other's arms, someone came to the rescue. Sharon hurried to leave; Nick noticed she left an earring behind. At Newman Enterprises, Nikki, Victoria, Neil and Michael sat down to meet with Victor, who totally played hardball with his wife, refusing to bail her out with a loan to clean up the methane. After blasting him for treating her so badly in front of their daughter, she stormed off with tears in her eyes. She was followed by Victoria, who stopped long enough to chide her dad. Back in Nikki's office, Jack threatened to pull out of the Clear Springs project, she angrily showed him the door. In the Newman break room, Devon phoned Colleen to ask for help with a plan that must be kept secret from Lily. When Daniel strolled into the break room, Devon ended his call so that he could berate his brother-in-law, who more or less ignored the barbs.... A while later, Neil came in to the break room, where Devon was still sitting. Neil reported that Lily had called him to complain that Devon won't help her get a date and asked his flustered son to please help her out. A clearly vexed Devon claimed to be working on it. He went back home and happily presented Lily with concert tickets, reporting that he also had made them dinner reservations on Friday, the night of the show. Lily cooed her own exciting news: She has a date on the night of the show with a fellow she knows from psych class. Lily also asked Devon to go on a double-date with her — she'd already arranged for Devon to go out with her date's cousin! He was so not happy. Sharon and Nick returned to Newman, where an anxious Sharon chattered to Jack about the disastrous NVP photo shoot at the vault. When Jack noticed his wife's missing earring, Nick handed it over. Once Jack walked out, Sharon asked Nick if she thought Jack "noticed anything" including the fact that she was blushing. A while later, Nick returned to Sharon to say "I just wanted to tell you that I love you." She jumped up to leave, but he stopped her to add that he knows loving her is his problem, which he has to deal with, but he reiterated that he still loves her and always will. Just then, he got a phone call, the jury had reached a verdict on Phyllis, which would be announced at 3 o'clock. Nick left to go to his wife's trial. Michael met with Gloria to say he'd conducted a partial background check on Jeffrey Bardwell, who has no criminal record and his story seems to check out. She was irked that Michael hadn't done more digging. Victoria and Nikki worked the phones, desperately trying to get a loan. They were interrupted by Cane, who had just come from lunch with Katherine. He awkwardly announced that they were stopping construction on Clear Springs, then beat a path out of the room. Neil updated Victor, who made plans to start drilling. Neil realized that Victor had kept Michael out of the loop. Victor said it was time to get bids for when his wife's company defaults.
Tuesday
At Crimson Lights, Kevin fretted to Daniel about all the lowball offers he's received for the coffeehouse and voiced his fear that he won't be able to pay for Jana's brain surgery. At a nearby table, Gloria, fresh off a shopping spree, presented Lauren with a pricey gift. When Kevin walked over, he did not receive her present to him graciously, instead clucking over how much money she'd spent on non-brain related items. He picked up a bottle of expensive wine and snakily asked who it was for. "Him" smirked Gloria as Jeffrey Bardwell strolled up. Kevin, who hadn't been at memorial when Jeffrey arrived, was stunned to see the late Will's twin. Jeffrey asked Kevin's permission to use one of the computers. When he stepped away, Gloria announced her intention to prove he's after her money. Afterward, Glo and Jeffrey had a seemingly friendly conversation, in which she tried to get him to talk all about himself. At the Chancellor estate, Nikki urged Katherine to reverse Cane's decision to stop construction at Clear Springs. Meanwhile at Newman Enterprises, a gloating Jack told Victor that he hopes the Aussie doesn't go back on his word. They were interrupted by Sharon, who reported that the jury in Phyllis's trial has reached a verdict and the trial would be in session at 3 o'clock. Speaking of, a weeping Phyllis, baby Summer in her arms, was on the phone with Michael, crying that she was going to jump bail. Michael tried to talk sense into Phyllis, who told him not to bother tracing the call and hung up. Back at the Chancellor manse, Nikki begged Kay for a loan, but she declined.... After mulling it over, Katherine acquiesced, but made it clear that she had to find alternate funding within a week. Michael found Nick in Victor's office. Nick wasn't at all surprised to hear that his wife had fled and got ready to call the cops, but Michael argued that he'd have a better chance of seeing Summer again if he worked on Phyllis. As Michael stood in the wings pleading with Nick to use charm and sweet talk on Phyllis, Nick instead harshly chided her, which accomplished nothing, but getting her to hang up. Turning to the baby, she told the infant, she'd be known as "Sammy" for a while. Michael moved to Plan B, claiming that the defendant is not feeling well, but on her way to the courthouse. They tracked down Jack and Daniel and filled them in on the real deal. Afterward, Nick ran into his dad and stuck to the cover story that his wife has a bug.... Lauren met up with Michael and worried that covering for Phyllis would get Michael in big trouble, contempt of court et al.... Jack finally reached Phyll and got her to talk over good times, then entreated her to show up at the courthouse. Too bad Sharon walked in and overheard the conversation. Jack told his wife that she has to keep it quiet.... While Daniel and Nick were making calls to spread the virus tale, Phyllis donned a short, dark wig (not her best look, but fugitives don't have time for fashion). She picked up another call from Michael, but again insisted that she had to skip town. A rattled Michael instructed Nick, Daniel and Lauren to show up at court as if they expect her to arrive. He clung to a hunch that she would come back. Kevin visited the hospital, where he treated Jana to a pedicure, vampy black nail polish of course. She started to mumble somewhat incoherently, claimed to have blurry vision and then cried out as he called for a nurse. When he returned to the coffeehouse, Kevin lambasted Gloria for her refusal to pay for the surgery and issued a threat: Cough up the dough or he'd rat her out for the tainting the Jabot moisturizer and she'd go on trial for murder. Calm, cool and collected Glo didn't flinch as her son threw down a 30-minute deadline and stalked off. A short time later, when he told her time was up, she presented an idea: If Kevin uses the security cameras and computers to dig up info on Jeffrey, a "wealthy benefactor" would pay for Jana's surgeries. He agreed. Kay and Nikki returned to Newman to tell Victor about their business deal. Once Katherine left, he taunted his wife's supposed lack of business sense, but she countered that she would get what she needs — from him. Nikki proposed using her marital assets for collateral. He advised against it, but when she insisted, Vic told her to draw up the papers. Michael was unable to get the judge to delay the trial. When 3 p.m. rolled around, the judge asked where the defendant was.
Wednesday
At the courthouse, everyone waited for Phyllis to arrive. The judge told
Michael he has one hour to produce Phyllis or else Michael would be held in
contempt of court. Phyllis finally arrived, explaining that she didn't want
to take Summer away from her father or leave her son. After, the jury
announced that they were unable to come up with a verdict. Michael suggested
that a mistrial be declared. Phyllis hoped that it would mean that there was
reasonable doubt. She was especially encouraged when one of the jurors
smiled at her. Michael urged her not to get her hopes up. Nick admitted that
he finds it difficult to trust Phyllis. Michael then informed her that the
jury wants Sharon's testimony to be reread, which meant that someone's mind
hadn't been made up. Phyllis then learned that Daniel had been fired from
Newman. She was upset with Nick for not stepping in and helping Daniel, but
Nick pointed out that Daniel almost ruined the company by logging on to a
porn site.
Daniel helped Jack with his political work. Jack was impressed with Daniel's
willingness to push forward with his life, even while going through his
divorce with Lily and recent arrest.
Amber made an appointment for a job interview — though things quickly
went
south when the company realized who she is. Cane then called her and asked
her to meet him at the Chancellor estate. He had her sign a document stating
that their marriage wasn't legal and that she wasn't entitled to any of his
money. She couldn't believe that he could hate her so much. She insisted
that she loves him, but he didn't believe her. He warned her that if she
didn't sign, he'd make sure she went to jail. She signed, but was visibly
devastated to lose Cane for good. Amber then told Katherine that she
deserves a second chance. Kay replied that she hopes Cane and Jill never see
her again. Later, Kay tried to comfort an angry and distraught Cane....
Carson offered to help Amber find the missing money.
J.T. accompanied Victoria when she went for a sonogram. Vicky debated
whether she wanted to know the baby's sex. They were thrilled when the
doctor announced that the baby is healthy. He was about to tell them the
baby's gender, but Victoria then decided that she doesn't want to know after
all, and wants to be surprised. J.T. did want to know, though, so the doctor
whispered it to him. After, at the coffeehouse, J.T. and Victoria admired
the sonogram photos and tried to pick one to hang up. Victoria didn't like
J.T.'s suggestion of naming the baby "Newman." "You really want this kid to
hate me, don't you?" she cracked. He then listed several other potential
names, including Samantha and ... Chico. Vicky wasn't impressed.
Sharon met up with Brad at the GCAC. He complained to her about how
difficult Victoria is making his life at work. They then discussed the trial
and how Phyllis had run off. Brad stated that Phyllis is a horrible mother.
Sharon then confessed that she kissed Nick while trapped with him in the
bank vault. Brad wondered if she really loves Jack or just admires him.
Later, Brad found the sonogram envelope which Victoria left on the break
room table at Newman. He looked at the sonogram photo and announced to her
that she's having a boy, ruining her surprise.
Michael urged Phyllis to take a deal so she can get less jail time. Phyllis
refused and insisted on seeing what the jury had to say. The judge then
announced that they reached a verdict.
Thursday
The jury found Phyllis guilty. Heather implied that Phyllis and a
recently arrested Daniel could plot to leave the country together, but the
judge decided that she wasn't a flight risk. Daniel tried to calm his mom,
to no avail. "If Paris can survive [jail], I think you can survive," he
stated, but Phyllis wasn't amused. After, the judge agreed to let Phyllis
stay free until her sentencing hearing, but made her hand over her passport.
Nicholas offered to take her home to Summer. Michael told Phyllis that he
planed to appeal the verdict. Phyllis told Daniel that she felt guilty for
being such a disappointment to him, but he reminded her that he's also
endured his share of legal troubles. "It's not your fault," she replied.
"It's genetics." Later, Jack, Sharon and Daniel tried to help her leave
court without encountering the press. Phyllis and Sharon argued over whose
fault it was that Phyllis was in trouble. Nick intervened and took Phyllis
home.... Daniel went to the GCAC, where he was comforted by Gina. She
reminded him how tough Phyllis is and urged Daniel to be prepared for his
own trial.
Meanwhile, Lily, Devon and Neil hoped Phyllis would be thrown in jail. Lily
thought she'd be happier to see Phyllis get a guilty verdict. Devon planned
to visit Phyllis in prison if she got jail time so he could relish seeing
her behind bars. They were disappointed that she was released on bail and
hoped she'd get the maximum sentence for extortion. Devon didn't think that
was enough and wanted Phyllis to pay for causing Drucilla's death. Neil
suggested that instead of being angry, they start a "new year" together that
day. Lily and Devon liked the idea. They celebrated by donning New Year's
costumes, watching family videos and reminiscing about Dru. Devon recalled
how Dru told him that she always wanted a son. Neil agreed that Devon was a
great gift for the family.
Nikki was happy to see Phyllis found guilty, but Brad was still upset with
her for making him bring his marital problems into the open. Nikki noted
that she had nothing to do with him cheating on Victoria and assured Brad
that they did the right thing by having Phyllis arrested for extortion.
After, Victor and Nikki argued over the trial, with him stating that it hurt
their family. Later, at Newman, Nikki teased Phyllis about not being able to
see Summer for much longer. Nick demanded that Nikki treat his wife with
respect.
Jack was devastated that Phyllis was found guilty. Nick feared Noah's
reaction when he learned about the news. Later, Jack and Sharon argued over
whether Phyllis deserved jail time. Jack noted that Phyllis didn't commit
murder and needed to be with her children. Sharon couldn't believe that he
was defending her. Jack and Sharon then spoke with Noah about Phyllis. Noah
blamed Sharon for Phyllis's predicament and demanded that he move in with
Nick instead. Sharon explained that she didn't want to testify against
Phyllis, but was forced to. Jack tried to explain what a subpoena is, and
that if Sharon hadn't obeyed it, she could've gone to jail. Noah reluctantly
forgave his mom. When they were alone, Sharon thanked Jack for helping her
out with Noah, but Jack said that he was lying. Sharon realized that Jack
also blamed her for what happened to Phyllis.
Daniel and Lily ran into each other at the GCAC and shared an awkward
meeting. After engaging in some small talk about the trial, she abruptly
left.
Phyllis happily reunited with Summer and hung out with her in the Newman
break room. Brad soon arrived and taunted her. Phyllis replied that he's
lost his wife and will probably lose his board seat. Victor then came into
the break room and expressed his regrets that Phyllis was convicted. Phyllis
was shocked that Victor was on her side. Victor replied that he doesn't
blame her for what happened — he blames Brad and Nikki.... Michael and
Lauren dined with Fen at Crimson Lights. Lauren urged her husband to relax,
but he couldn't. He was determined to make sure Phyllis stayed out of jail
so she could be with Summer.... Daniel joined Nick and Phyllis for dinner,
where he joked about his mom's cooking. As Nick and Daniel made plans for
the weekend, Phyllis began to panic as she realized how little time she
could have left to enjoy her freedom.... Victor and Nikki fought some more
over the Phyllis situation. He believed that Nikki liked the idea of raising
Summer without Phyllis around.... Phyllis broke down as the realization that
she could go to jail hit her. Nick promised to be there for her.
Friday
Daniel helped Phyllis get ready for the visit from the probation officer.
She planned to stress to the woman that she's a mother of two and does
charity work.... At Newman, Sharon informed Nick that Noah heard about
Phyllis's verdict on TV and blamed Sharon for it. Nick offered to talk to
him.... Heather assured Michael that the report on Phyllis would be fair. So
did the probation officer. However, Michael panicked when Heather noted that
Phyllis tried to leave town. After, the officer went to Newman to interview
Nick. He stated that Phyllis is a loving mother. The officer then asked if
Phyllis tried to leave town before the trial; he explained that if Phyllis
really wanted to do that she would have — but didn't. Nick stressed how
Phyllis took responsibility and showed up for the verdict.... Michael,
Daniel and Phyllis tried to figure out who told Heather about Phyllis trying
to leave.... Heather told Michael she believes Michael knows something
about Phyllis, but is keeping quiet.
Ben warned Jack that his association with Phyllis could ruin Jack's
political career. Daniel then informed Jack that Phyllis is being
interviewed. Jack wished her luck. After, Ben chastised Jack for wanting to
hire Daniel to work for him. Jack replied that he cares about Daniel and
that he wants to help him. Sharon interrupted and asked to speak with Jack
privately. She overhead him speaking with Phyllis on the phone and assuring
her that he didn't tell Heather anything. Sharon was upset when Jack
questioned her about it; she admitted that she was tempted to, but didn't
actually say anything. Jack said that he believed her. Later at work, Sharon
and Nick discussed her conversation with Jack. Nick wasn't surprised that
Jack would be looking out for Phyllis. Sharon wondered if it was wrong of
her to tell the truth during her testimony; Nick reminded her that she had
no choice. Sharon then recalled telling Brad about how Phyllis almost ran
off. After she left, Ben reminded Nick that Sharon's married. Nick replied
that he has no interest in her, but Ben didn't believe him.
Jana was thrilled when Kevin informed her that Gloria's going to pay for her
surgery. She worried about repaying Kevin, but he told her not to worry
about it. After, Kevin met up with Colleen at Crimson Lights and filled her
in on Gloria's "charitable act." Colleen didn't believe that Gloria was
helping Jana out of the goodness of her heart. Later, the doctor informed
them that Jana might not survive the risky surgery.
Phyllis changed into a nicer outfit for her visit. Daniel helped her come up
with appropriate answers to show that she has remorse for what she did....
Michael continued to stress about the case at Crimson Lights, where he ran
into Paul. When Baldwin complained about Heather's legal tactics, Paul
defended her. Maggie admitted to Paul that her investigation of Phyllis
isn't going well. Paul offered to help her out.... Sharon confessed to Jack
that she'd blabbed to Brad about Phyllis. After, the officer interviewed
Jack. He explained that passion got the best of her and she merely acted
without thinking. When the officer questioned him about Phyllis trying to
run away, he said that she'd been suffering from stomach problems right
before the verdict, but had shown up.... Ben lectured Sharon on how a
politician's wife should behave. Sharon assured him that she'd never do
anything to hurt Jack. Later, the probation officer questioned Sharon about
Phyllis's alleged plans to skip town. Sharon denied knowing anything.... Ben
again urged Jack not to be "friends" with Phyllis. He then warned Jack that
Nick might go after Sharon if Phyllis is in prison. Jack angrily told Ben
that his wife is off limits.... The officer finally interviewed a visibly
nervous Phyllis. Phyllis denied trying to leave town before the verdict was
announced. She then tried to impress the officer by mentioning her charity
work, but as she spoke, Phyllis's wig — the one she wore when she did try to
leave town — fell out of her bag. Phyllis and Nick made light of it,
pretending she got it as a joke. The officer seemed to buy it and ended the
visit.... Sharon complained to Jack about Ben. Jack thought he might have to
end his working relationship with Hollander.... Michael, Daniel and Phyllis
assessed how the visit went. Phyllis felt confident that she did well, but
Michael urged her to be realistic. Phyllis then confessed about the wig.
Michael flipped out — and with good reason. Just then, Maggie presented
Heather and the officer with pictures of Phyllis at the airport ... wearing
that very wig.
