Monday
As Phyllis interrogated Nick at the tack house about his actions before Adam disappeared, Victor was also being quizzed at the main house by the authorities. Victor recalled Adam's smugness about escaping the hospital and infiltrating the Ball. Victor also relayed that he backslapped Adam after he made the comment that Victor's dead child was better off. Victor admitted that he should have turned over his broken and bloodied watch to the authorities, but he insisted he was not a killer. Nick told Phyllis the same story about Victor and Adam's confrontation, adding that he jumped in to restrain Adam. Afterward, everyone got lost in the dark, he recalled.
Victoria told Billy that they needed to get their stories straight before they talked to the police. Billy acted as devil's advocate during a mock questioning, and Vicki insisted that no one know they were together that night.
Chance and the police arrived to talk to Vicky, but she was not there. J.T. and Reed were, having just gotten back from a day trip to Chicago. Chance confirmed the dead body found after the explosion was Adam's. Chance gave J.T. his card and asked Victoria to call him.
At Crimson Lights, Michael and Kevin were at their wit's end trying to figure out who the mystery woman was. Paul showed up with video of the night Daisy and Ryder were released from jail — and Lauren was on the tape. Michael insisted that Lauren would never help her tormenters.
A caged Lauren was stunned to be staring back at her own reflection. "I'm not Sheila," her doppelganger insisted. Lauren didn't believe her. Daisy and Ryder arrived. Lauren insisted that Sheila stay away from her family. Daisy said that Lauren will get answers, "When momma bear wants her to."
Chance went to talk to Nick and Phyllis. Chance reported that Nick's tuxedo jacket was missing from the dry cleaners. Phyllis and Nick acted surprised. Chance asked to take a look around. "Absolutely," stated Phyllis. Later, Victor came over. Phyllis confessed to Victor that she and Sharon made Nick's jacket disappear. Nick was not happy they did that, but Victor vowed to protect his family at all costs.
Lauren's look-alike went to Jana and freed her from the crypt. Jana grabbed "Lauren" in an embrace, crying that she wanted to go home. Laughing, "Lauren" replied, "That ain't happening ... You're so clueless, it's pathetic." Suddenly, the real Lauren stumbled upon both women. A confused Jana didn't know what to think. Lauren was able to prove that she was the real Lauren and they hugged. "I'm Sheila's sister, Sarah," the doppelganger informed Lauren.
Victoria returned home, surprised to see J.T. and Reed there. After telling Reed to pack his toys, J.T. informed his wife that he was leaving with their son. J.T. gave Victoria Chance's card and vowed he was seeking full custody. A teary Victoria gave her son a hug, and J.T. escorted the boy out.
Chance came to talk to Billy and asked why he got a room at the club that night. Billy explained he'd been drinking. Was Bill alone? pressed Chance. Billy insisted he was but Chance wasn't buying his story.... A homeless man going through a dumpster found a tuxedo jacket and put it on.... Kevin found an article online about a Sarah Smythe, who was a cleared after patients under her care died while she was working as a nurse. Michael said that story sent a chill up his spine.
Tuesday
As Jana woke up, Lauren assured her that she was really Lauren. Sarah, Daisy and Ryder showed up and Lauren tried to reason with them, to no avail. If they had done their research they would know that Sheila is the one who tormented Lauren, argued Jana, but Daisy replied that Lauren murdered her mother. It's her life's mission to bring Lauren down, snarled Sarah. "Why are we bothering keeping them alive?" questioned Daisy. To torment Lauren by taking over her life, explained Sarah; she'll think about what to do about Jana. After Sarah left, Jana and Lauren agreed Ryder was their best chance at escape, and decided to use code word so Jana would always know Lauren was really Lauren. When Ryder returned, Lauren and Jana pleaded for his help. Ryder could be a real family with them, the women pressed, and he wouldn't have to be controlled by Sarah. Sarah's not the one they should be worried about, warned Ryder ominously — Daisy's done much worse things than lock people in cages. Sarah and Daisy returned, and Sarah showed off an outfit she'd bought, then made Lauren hand over her wedding ring. "Mind the animals, kiddies, it's time for Lauren to go home," she grinned. After she left, Daisy warned Ryder that helping their prisoners would be a real bone-headed move, and threatened Abby. Meanwhile, Jana was struck with a blinding headache.
Michael interrupted Gloria's babbling to reveal that Lauren is missing, and that a woman named Sarah Smythe, who was connected to Tom Fisher, is involved. If they find Sarah, they'll find Lauren and Jana, Michael theorized. Kevin filled in Amber and Daniel about his search for Jana, and the group huddled to sorted through notes about Sarah. Sarah had twins, Kevin discovered; a friend of theirs went missing, but cops couldn't find proof of wrongdoing. Daisy and Ryder are Sheila's twins ... which means Daisy is also his sister, realized Kevin. But why was Lauren the one who was targeted? wondered Michael, vowing to save his wife. Suddenly "Lauren" (really Sarah) walked in. "It's so good to be home," she purred.
"I'm glad to see you in one piece," Malcolm told Neil, marveling about what Adam had gotten away with. No one's going to miss Adam, said Neil. When the topic turned to Lily, the brotherly bond chilled as the men disagreed about her course of treatment. It's not Malcolm's place to make decisions about Lily's treatment, said Neil. He breezes into town with a swagger, and disappears when things don't go away. Blowing out his knee as a teenager destroyed all his dreams, said Malcolm, accusing Neil of feeling vindicated when he fails. Malcolm accused "I'm just as much a part of this family as you are, and I'm staying," insisted Malcolm. The last thing Lily deserves is to have to watch them fighting, the brothers agreed.
Lily was sitting on a park bench watching children play when Cane joined her. Her chance to have children is slipping away, lamented Lily. She still has control, reassured Cane, she just has to believe. "It takes a lot of energy to fight off all these doubts," answered Lily wearily. It breaks her heart that her children could grow up without a mom, she added, and it's harder to have faith now that they're running out of options. They need to discuss those options with an expert, said Cane gently, as Olivia approached and suggested they go home, where she showed them new clinical trials Lily was eligible for. Neil and Malcolm showed up. Olivia was startled to see Malcolm, casting doubt on Malcolm's story about having found out about Lily's illness from Liv.
Wednesday
In the cage, Lauren tried to convince Jana that they could overpower Daisy and make a run for it. Jana's headaches were debilitating her, however, and she began screaming in agony. Lauren called for Ryder, and he and Daisy arrived. Lauren begged for medical attention for Jana, but Daisy insisted that her illness was faked. Lauren held out hope that Ryder would eventually do the right thing. Jana advised Lauren to escape alone; that she should leave her behind and go to Michael and stop Sarah. Lauren comforted Jana as her headaches became overwhelming. Lauren pulled her into her lap and assured her that Kevin would never give up. Daisy taunted Lauren, saying that Sarah was in Lauren's home right at that moment, with her husband and son. She advised Lauren to kiss up to her, because one phone call to Sarah was all it would take for harm to come to her loved ones. Daisy continued to torment Lauren and Jana by pulling food out of her bag and eating noisily. Jana tried to retaliate. "Poor little Max," she said pointedly to Daisy, mentioning the little boy who she suspected Daisy had murdered. Momentarily startled, Daisy quickly recovered saying that what she had done to "poor little Max" was nothing compared to what she had in mind for Lauren and her family. The duplicitous duo walked away from the cage. Once alone, Ryder and Daisy discussed their strategy, including what to do about Abby. Ryder dialed her on his cell phone, and asked her to meet him there.
Meanwhile at home, Sarah was masquerading as Lauren. Kevin had questions about Jana, but Sarah claimed to know nothing. Kevin left, and Michael and Sarah were alone. Michael was eager to hear what had happened to "Lauren" on the night of her disappearance. Sarah shockingly claimed that she had gone up to a hotel room with a strange man during the Ball and slept with him. After absorbing the information and trying to rationalize it, Michael blamed himself. Sarah, pretending to be appalled at "Lauren's" actions, got Michael to reveal everything he knew about Sarah Smythe. Fen came running out of his room and was overjoyed to see his "mom.” He began singing, but Sarah didn't know the words to the song. Fen pulled away from her and ran off to his room. Michael suggested taking his "wife" to the doctor. Sarah adamantly refused to see any doctors. After Sarah went into the kitchen, Michael quickly called the doctor to make an appointment and ask for a psychiatric referral. The doctor referred him to Dr. Emily Abbott.
Kevin met up with Amber and Daniel at the coffeehouse. Daniel was skeptical about whether Jana had really been kidnapped, but Amber was determined to help Kevin find his missing wife. She suggested that she and Kevin go back to the abandoned amusement park to search again. Once at the entrance, Kevin and Amber were stunned to see Abby there with picnic supplies. Abby wondered what they were doing there. After hearing their explanation, Abby became suspicious of Ryder. Amber and Kevin asked her to keep an eye out for Jana, and they gave up and left. When Ryder arrived, Abby immediately began questioning him. "Did you have something to do with Jana's disappearance?" she blurted out. Ryder played the sympathy card, explaining that nobody believed him and that nobody could possibly care about a homeless guy. Abby was shocked to learn that he was homeless. She pondered her predicament as she watched him walk away.
Ryder snuck a bottle of pain reliever in the cage to Jana. She didn't have time to be grateful before Daisy appeared and announced that she had received a call from Sarah. "Mama Bear is all comfy in your apartment with your husband, Lauren," she taunted. Indeed, at home, Sarah pranced out into the living room in lingerie. Michael was stunned, but turned her away, saying he would spend the night in the spare bedroom. As he walked away, an evil smirk crept across Sarah's face.
At Cane and Lily's house, Malcolm was cornered when Olivia called his bluff about running into her at Heathrow Airport. He had some major explaining to do about what had really brought him to town, after his lie about coming to visit a sick Lily was exposed. Malcolm claimed to have come to Genoa City for personal reasons, but that when he learned Lily was sick, he became involved. When Neil and Malcolm engaged in a shouting match, Lily slipped out, saying she needed air. Olivia tore into Malcolm for his selfishness and lies, and left. Alone, the brothers continued arguing. Neil accused Malcolm of being untrustworthy, and told him that he had no place in the family. Malcolm said he refused to give up on his daughter, and stormed out. On the porch, Malcolm pulled out his cell phone and whispered, "Keeping our secret is getting harder each day!"
Lily arrived at the coffeehouse, looking for an escape from the craziness at home with her dad and Malcolm. She found Daniel sitting alone, and was glad to see a friendly face. She updated him on the experimental trials available to treat her cancer, but expressed her doubt about her chances of beating it. Daniel listened sympathetically as she lamented her "selfish" decision to bring two babies into the world. Daniel grabbed her hand and reassured her. "Those kids are NOT mistakes," Daniel said. He pointed out that if the worst case scenario happened, there would be plenty of people to love the babies. "But that is not going to happen," he said emphatically. Daniel gave her a big hug and told her that he was always available if she needed someone to talk to. As Lily turned to leave, she was surprised to see Olivia, who pulled her aside to talk. Once outside, Olivia anxiously told Lily that she had she had had an epiphany about her illness. "Your babies, Lily!" she said excitedly. "They might hold the key to your cure!" She went on to explain that although there were dangers involved in extracting their stem cells while in-utero, the potential had to outweigh the risks.
Thursday
Chance presented his findings to the DA regarding Adam's murder, from his suspicion that Billy wasn't alone in the hotel that night, to the motives of Jack, Emily, Victor, Victoria and others.
As they were preparing to bring Adam's body to Wichita, Nikki asked Victor why he felt he needed to bury Adam and assured him that he's not responsible for what happened to his son. Victor explained that he wanted to memorialize him for Hope's memory. They had to postpone the flight, however, when Victor received an urgent call from the DA.
After failing to find Nick's tuxedo jacket in the dumpster, Nick and Phyllis shared their worry with Sharon. Nick explained that he was there when Victor fought with Adam, a fact that Victor kept from the DA. Meanwhile, a homeless man wearing the jacket was shivering outside Jimmy's. At the PD, Chance showed Chloe the flyer he made for the missing jacket. Chloe didn't comprehend why this was so important and nearly got him to take a break from work when he received a call about the investigation.
At Jimmy's, Billy explained to Mac that he got a room at the GCAC that night because he didn't want to drive home drunk, but Mac could tell that he was lying. He admitted that he wasn't alone but can't say who was with him. At Crimson Lights, J.T. and Victoria argued over J.T.'s desire to keep Reed away from her troubled family. Victoria begged him to call off the custody hearing, to no avail. Meanwhile, the DA showed Victor, Nikki, Jack and Ashley what he recovered from Adam's computer, including recordings of Sabrina's voice and footage of Ashley sleeping. When it struck nerve with Ash, the DA asked if she was about to say she'd kill Adam herself if he wasn't already dead, but Victor told him to stop interrogating her. Afterward, Jack blamed Victor for the mess Adam has put them in and suggested Victor tried to frame him by shoving that handkerchief down Adam's throat. Victoria told her mom that J.T. is intent on taking Reed away from her and she's decided to play dirty, with Victor's help. Victor and Nikki returned to the airport, but Victor changed his mind about giving Adam a proper burial and pushed the casket off the plane onto the tarmac.
Phyllis and Sharon had a cryptic exchange about how they'd do anything for Nick while he was upstairs tending to Faith. When he returned, he announced he's going to come clean with the authorities. Phyllis begged him to stay quiet. Nick wondered if both women think he's guilty, and they didn't necessarily refute his suggestion.
Billy gave the homeless guy at Jimmy's some cash to get something to eat and Mac offered him a warmer coat. Mac handed the tuxedo jacket to Billy, who noticed it's expensive and Italian-made. Meanwhile, Chance headed to the basement of the GCAC to check out the latest evidence: a bloody pen. Billy returned to Jimmy's with the flyers Chance had already posted and told Mac they're harboring a "fugitive."
Friday
Jack asked his wife what it felt like being married to a murder suspect. "Emily" was convinced Victor was behind it. Jack wondered why "Emily" was drinking coffee, as she was "pregnant." Oops. Though she promised Jack she'd see a doctor very soon, Emily seemed hesitant about going, wondering how she would pull this off. She began talking to the portrait of real Emily.
Michael, who couldn't make it to Reed's custody hearing, told Victor that Lauren wasn't quite herself. "Lauren" (actually Sarah) greeted her husband with a good morning, adding she hoped that he was lonely on the couch. Michael insisted that "Lauren" keep her doctor's appointment but she refused. Worried about Lauren’s condition, he insisted he wanted a nurse/practitioner to come over. When Michael wondered why "Lauren" hadn't asked about Fen, she made an excuse. Michael said he'd made an arrangement with Dr. Abbott, Jack's wife, to see her, but "Lauren" argued she didn't need a psychiatrist. After Michael rattled off all of the weird things she'd done over the few weeks, "Lauren" started kissing Michael, but he pushed her away, explaining he couldn't get past the fact that Lauren had slept with another man. Angry, "Lauren" said she was hurting, too, and gave him space. The nurse/practitioner showed up, which made her nervous.
JT was all dressed up for the custody hearing. Offering to help out with Reed should JT get custody, Mac said she'd help decorate his new room. Although Mac suggested JT had a good shot at getting custody of his son, JT fretted about Victor's influence at the hearing.
Although Victoria was upset that Michael wouldn't be representing her at the trial, Victor assured his daughter he'd help her get full custody. "Reed is a Newman," Victor reminded his worried daughter. Victoria asked her father to please not let things get ugly. "We both have to be Reed's parents," she said. "Do you want to play fair or do you want to win?" Victor asked his daughter, then ran into the judge in the steam room. But when Victoria didn’t show up, the judge awarded full custody to JT.
Victor saw JT outside of the court room. JT was sure Victoria had nothing to do with Adam's murder, though he made it clear that he knew what Victor was capable of. As the judge prepared to start the hearing, Billy called Victoria and told her that Chance busted his alibi, warning her that Chance was big on finding out who Billy was with. He added that Adam had been murdered when they weren't together. Victoria, who was on the way to the hearing, was
suddenly brought to the police station. The judge wanted to know where Victoria was, and her family was given a 10 minute break to find her. Victoria, now at the station, said she'd give Chance a statement but had to get to the courthouse or she'd "lose her son." Chance showed Victoria the pen that was the murder weapon. It had been bought in Dubai, where Victoria had just been on business. Chance asked her how that expensive pen — the murder weapon — was also found at the crime scene. Rattling off all of Adam's bad qualities, Chance said he wasn't surprised that Adam was murdered by someone, urging Victoria to come clean. Could she could account for her exact whereabouts? If Victoria didn’t admit who she was with the night Adam died, he would have to charge her with murder, Chance warned. Then he arrested her.
Billy visited his nephew Chance with a proposition: He had a tuxedo jacket but wouldn't turn it over without a promise of the exclusive on the murder investigation. Chance reminded Billy that he was a person of interest, then showed Billy that he already got the jacket, having procured a search warrant for Billy's office. Chance wanted to know who Billy was in the company of in his hotel room the night that Adam was murdered, showing
him the two masks. "I was with somebody," Billy admitted and hinted that he didn't know her name because they had kept the masks on the whole time. And he was too drunk to remember. Chance wondered who he was covering for.
Michael and Jack ran into each other at Crimson Lights. Jack was sure that Emily would be able to help "Lauren" when Michael explained that it was like being married to a stranger. Jack pondered that remark, then called the OB/GYN's office and found out that Emily had made a doctor’s appointment, all right... with a cardiologist.
"Emily" told "Lauren" that Jack was a wonderful husband. "Lauren" continued to ask her questions, admitting she didn't want to see Emily today, but she changed her mind when she got there. When "Lauren" confesed she missed going to clubs, Emily wondered if "Lauren" wanted to be a bad girl. Lauren grabbed Emily's head and started looking at her roots. "You are not Dr. Emily Abbott, you are Patty Williams," "Lauren" announced.
