Shemar Moore (ex-Malcolm, Y&R), who found success after daytime with 11 seasons on CRIMINAL MINDS and will now star in the upcoming CBS reboot of S.W.A.T., announced the Prime-Time Emmy nominations today — and he still hasn’t forgotten his soap roots. In an interview with KTLA’s Sam Rubin minutes after the announcements, Moore described the feeling of being part of a live award-related telecast. “I won a Daytime Emmy 9000 years ago [in 2000 for Outstanding Supporting Actor], but I know what it feels like,” he explained. “It’s a nice pat on the back. It’s a nice validation. You’re entertaining people. You’re moving people. It’s a good feeling to hear your name like that, so for me to stand there.… the last time I did anything close to this was many years ago [in 1999], I gave Susan Lucci [ex-Erica, ALL MY CHILDREN] her first Emmy! It was her first win in 19 tries and I almost cussed on live TV because I looked at the envelope and I was like, ‘Oh….’ and I came up with, ‘The streak is over! Susan Lucci!’ and they gave her a 5 minute standing ovation — so doing this today was just as cool.”
