Happy Labor Day! Recaps will return tomorrow.

Phyllis quickly became emotional and irrational over Summer's illness and
took her frustrations out on Nick, Daniel, Michael and Lauren. Michael and
Daniel tried to convince her that she didn't need to be late to check in to
the jail, and that they would all take care of Summer. Despite Daniel and
Michael's pleading, Phyllis decided to take Summer to the hospital. "If this
were your son and somebody told you to walk away, what would you do?"
Phyllis asked Michael. Once at the hospital, no doctors were available to
look at Summer, and the baby was getting worse by the minute. Finally Logan came out to take a look at her, and Nick told the doctor that Summer still had a fever and had developed a bad cough. "I knew it, but no one would listen to me!" Phyllis cried with tears in her eyes. She begged Michael to buy her more time to stay with Summer. While they waited for Summer's test results, Phyllis
finally began to relax, but before long two police officers showed up to arrest her. Michael tried to stop them, but the police continued with the arrest, prying Phyllis out of Nick's arms and dragging her out of the hospital crying, kicking and screaming. Soon after Phyllis was taken away, Logan returned to tell
everyone what was wrong with Summer.
At the coffee house, Amber and Carson chatted about the missing money. While
engaging in a little shameless flirting, the two devised a plan to swipe Ji
Min's card to get into his room at the club. While Ji Min was distracted,
Amber made a dash for his room. Before she could get in the door, she hid
behind a plant because Cane was also headed for Ji Min's room. Cane knocked on Ji Min's door, and when Jill answered, Cane tried to convince her to keep Ji Min from going public. He mentioned that Amber believed Ji Min had stolen the money. Jill became outraged that Cane was even listening to anything Amber had to say, but Cane pointed out that Ji Min couldn't be trusted either.
On his way out of the club, Cane ran into Ji Min. Things got physical when
Cane grabbed Ji Min and asked why he was causing problems for everyone. Ji
Min yanked himself free from Cane's grip, saying he'd forget about what had
just happened because Cane was Jill's son. As Ji Min walked away, Cane yelled
out, "This ain't over! I'll be seeing you!"
Meanwhile, Jack ran into Katherine at the office and their passing
conversation quickly escalated into a fight. Katherine told Jack that she
planned on stating she had no idea Jack owned Jabot. "If you think you can
get away with telling them you didn't know, you're more senile than I thought," Jack said. Once Jack brought Sharon up to speed on the ordeal, she agreed to stand by him no matter what. But after a quick phone conversation with an unknown caller, Jack's mood quickly changed. Jack told her that his deal to buy Ji Min's ancestral land had gone through, and he planned to evict Ji Min's family if he went through with
the interview.
At dinner, Nikki and David discussed strategy on how to spin Ji Min's
upcoming confession in their favor. Business turned personal when Nikki mentioned her continual efforts to avoid Victor. David asked her if she had thought about making her separation from Victor permanent. Nikki admitted to having given the idea some thought, and David seemed pleased. He wanted Nikki to give him a direct answer, but Nikki simply replied, "Let's just say you give me a lot to think about." When the two met up later, David gave Nikki the great news: Jack had somehow convinced Ji Min not to go public. He urged her not to give a statement, and to lay low and see what happened next.
After no luck getting into Ji Min's room on the first attempt, Amber and
Carson decided to go on with plan B: going into Ji Min's room during his
tell-all interview. An anxious Amber waited outside of Ji Min's door and
when Carson didn't show up, she called his cell and told him she was going
in alone. Shortly after she entered, Jill decided to go look for Ji Min
since he wasn't answering her calls and was late for the interview. When
Jill opened Ji Min's door, she found Amber in shock and standing still.
"What are you doing here?" Jill demanded. When the fear-struck Amber didn't answer, Jill walked into the room and discovered Ji Min's lifeless body
lying on the floor.
Wednesday
In Jill and Ji Min's room at the GCAC, Amber whimpered in shock over lifeless Ji Min until Jill ordered her to call 911. Though she found no heartbeat, Jill begged her honey to come back, but not even the paramedics could make that happen. She held her dead fianc and cried while Amber called Michael in a panic. Cane showed up next and took care of Jill, while glaring at Amber. When Kay called to check on her daughter and give her love, Jill told Cane, "When I think of how she treated Ji Min, that woman is the last person on earth that I want to see right now." A supportive Kay showed anyway, finding them in the dining room, and refused to engage in arguing with Jill.
Across the room, Amber told Michael, Heather and Maggie her story of stumbling onto the body. The ladies had a lot of questions for her and she answered honestly that she was in Ji Min's room because she believed he had taken the missing money. She was positive it was in the room, but Michael cut her rants off. After he told her to stay quiet and excused himself, Cane gave her trouble, calling her "the Genoa City Angel of Death" before shrugging her off. Then Carson gave her a start, followed by a drink. He thanked her for leaving him out of her statement, but she wondered if she should continue to do so. "If the cops find the money, you're off the hook. If we find the money, well, you make a nice little profit. Win-win. Throw in my hotness, and it's a win-win-win," he cooed. Before leaving the GCAC, she learned the police hadn't found the money and Maggie asked if she'd shared her theory about it with anyone, but we didn't hear Amber's answer. Jill and Cane were also questioned and when Maggie asked Cane about the stolen money, Jill interrupted, demanding, "Don't you find it very coincidental that he died right before he did that interview?"
Doc Logan outlined the dangers of Summer's infection, RSV, to Nick, Michael, Lauren and Daniel. Nick was desperate to talk to his wife, but Phyllis wasn't allowed to use the phone during prison intake (no matter how many times she asked the guard), so he went in to see Summer instead. When Victoria joined him, he asked her not to call their judgmental mom. Jack showed up next to give the baby his own pep talk. "These Summers women — you just can't stop 'em," he smiled and to prove it, Phyllis finally finagled the guard into letting her make a call. Nick's phone went straight to voicemail, but she got Michael, who gave her a mini-update but left her wanting more. Back in the hospital waiting room, Jack found Daniel working and told him he was hopeful Ji Min wouldn't go through with his big tell-all interview. Then Lauren showed back up with Fen, concerned he might have caught Summer's RSV, but it turned out to be a simple cold. When Nick returned, having put Summer to sleep, they discussed how to get news to Phyllis. He was frustrated to see he'd missed her call, but relieved to learn Summer was on the mend. Phyllis meanwhile, was with the warden and asked to make another call. "In here, you're just like everybody else," he maintained. "That means you follow the rules like everybody else." Yeah right! Left alone in the room, she took the liberty of using the phone, but before she could get an answer about Summer, the warden returned and hung the phone up.
Thursday
News of Ji Min's untimely death spread quickly as Jill tried to come to terms with her loss and the CSI team continued investigating. Nikki and David waxed philosophical and poetic over it. Then Nikki worried over David's talk with the reporter, but he shrugged it off, explaining, "Reporting is all about protecting your sources. You don't get to do important interviews by having a big mouth." They moved in on Jill with condolences when Cane and Katherine stepped away from her. After a beat, Jill turned angry, noting the pair didn't even like Ji Min and David had tried to talk him out of doing the interview. Then, while David made sure the reporter kept their chat "off the record," Nikki filled Victor in on what happened. Victor noticed things had "turned out rather advantageously" for her and walked away after some snide back and forths.
At the Abbott manse, Jack seemed surprised when a reporter called about Ji Min's death, responding "Dear God!" Sharon wondered immediately if it was his heart or just "a weird prank." Jack figured it was "just one of those horrible things." Colleen overheard and after noting she was going to move some of her stuff out, went to tell Kevin. That gave Sharon a chance to ask what happened with Ji Min's interview. "He had come to the truth on his own that this was going to hurt him more than it hurt anyone else," Jack explained. He also promised that had Ji Min not changed his mind, he never would have "strong-armed" the man with his family's land. Jack wanted to give his condolences, but Sharon was worried. Rightly so! When he arrived at the GCAC, everyone rolled their eyes. Jill thanked Sharon for her condolences, but then asked, "When you wake up in the morning and you look at yourself in the mirror, and you remember that you are married to such a truly loathsome man, how do you deal with it?" Jack tried to diffuse the tension, but Cane told him to get out. Meanwhile, the reporter tried to question an unwilling Katherine, but Maggie interrupted with her own questions for him. "I'd love to be able to help you, but all the information I've used to prepare comes from confidential sources," he hedged. Then he tried to get a quote from Victor and Jack, but neither bit.
That's when the big news came in: Ji Min's larynx and part of his windpipe were crushed. That made accidental death highly unlikely! Cane was confident Amber wasn't a murderer, so Jill told Maggie, "a lot of people in this room right now wanted that interview stopped." Victor made that same comment to Jack and Sharon, suggesting he should tell the authorities about Jack's having met with Ji Min before his death.
With a nervous Kevin at Jana's bedside, the doctor reported, "We excised 99 percent of your craniopharyngioma." After telling them her motor skills, speech and interactional kills were "normal," he left them to smile, tickle, kiss and daydream about their cross-country trip. Jana was worried about her next hurdle — the legal one — but Kevin wasn't. When Colleen arrived, he was fired up. She warned that they BOTH had legal battles ahead, then told him about Ji Min. When Jana overheard, Kevin was surprised by her empathetic response to the death (or any death!). When he left the girls alone, Jana revealed she wasn't as positive about their future. Not only was she sick of being in the "nuthouse," but she was unshowered, dirty and nasty. "I want to see that look in [Kevin's] eyes that says I'm pretty and that he wants me," she whined, fully aware she was being semi-superficial. Colleen countered with a makeover and Kevin was quite impressed with her work. "It's like you're back, you know?" he marveled, but she burst his bubble by insisting that, "I'm never, ever getting out of here." She revealed the tumor could return, worrying, "It's like there's this monster inside of me and there's still a tiny speck of it left. And I will never know if that monster will grow again. I mean... no, it's just not a chance I can take." Before leaving them, she told him she couldn't be the love of his life. Colleen again wondered if Jana was playing them to stay out of prison.
