Young and Restless Recaps
Y&R Week of October 27, 2008
Monday
Katherine went to a dive bar and reunited with her look-alike, Marge. Kay reminded Marge that she owed Marge her life for saving her from Clint all those years ago. Kay noted that Marge was drunk. Marge just laughed a bitter laugh. "Are you an alcoholic?" Kay asked. Marge denied it. "This is where you hide from your friends?" Kay pressed on. "You say that like I had any,"
Marge chuckled. Kay wanted to help her out, but Marge wasn't ready to accept it. There was then a flashback of the waitress Marge and Clint, back from 1989. The ladies then recalled when they'd first met and Kay wasn't exactly friendly toward Marge. They then reminisced about how Marge saved Esther and Kay from Clint by pretending to be Kay. Kay again offered to help out and gave Marge her card. She then took Marge's car keys and called her a cab..... Meanwhile, Jill and Esther worried about where Kay was. Esther feared that Kay was in serious trouble. When Kay later returned home, Jill was furious. Kay wouldn't say where she'd been or who she was with.
Jack and Adam met up at the coffeehouse. Adam warned Jack that if they get into trouble for having Victor's diary forged, he's not going down alone.
Jack told him to relax, but still refused to meet up with the forger. Later, Jack arranged for Frank to get his money while conferencing in a woman. Jack then handed the woman the money for Frank.... Frank threatened to expose Jack to the press if he didn't pay up; Jack assured him that he would.
However, Frank reamed out Adam when Jack didn't show once again. Adam called Jack, who told him that he stashed the envelope of money in a jacket near the coffeehouse patio. Adam told Frank about the tape Jack had made....
Meanwhile, Jack found the tape of himself speaking like Victor and destroyed it.
Victoria and Nikki discussed the ceramic egg found in the box from the chateau. Victoria concluded that it belonged to Sabrina and named it as a particular type of egg. They then brought it to Jana, who was alarmed when she learned the chateau was burned down. Nikki asked if Jana had any clues about where Victor went, but Jana didn't have any ideas. Nikki believed that Victor burned down the chateau. Vicky begged her mom to go to France to find him, but Nikki didn't think she or anyone else could reach out to him.... Meanwhile, Victor prayed in a church in France. The priest invited Victor to stay in a room at the church for the night.
At Crimson Lights, Gloria showed Jana a photo of herself, River and Michael from the '60s. Gloria blamed River for making Jeffrey run off. Jana concluded that Jeff was jealous of Glo's ex. Just then, Jeff arrived at the coffeehouse and questioned her about River. Glo called him "pig-headed" and jealous. She then admitted that she's missed Jeff and filled him in on how Kay was close to giving her the Jabot stocks. Jeffrey looked forward to "joining forces" with his wife once again. They went home and hit the sheets. Later, she asked where he'd been off to; he simply replied that he was on a "business" trip that had been his late brother William's idea. Glo found this hard to believe. Jeffrey showed her a note William had written saying, "If anything happens to me, don't let her get away with it,"
explaining that that's what brought him to town in the first place. "I've always had the goods on you and I still do," Jeff warned her. Glo threatened to kick him out; he noted that he wrote a letter about her tampering with the face cream just in case she screwed him over.... Jeff went to bar where Marge was and thought he saw a drunken Kay there.
Tuesday
Adam went to play the tape of Jack pretending to be Victor for Frank the forger, but all he got was static. He and Adam realized they'd been played by Jack... Sharon told Jack that she feels like he's not around anymore. Jack replied that he's busy looking for a new job. She made him promise to keep no more secrets from her.
Nick said good-bye to Phyllis as he left for South America.... Heather continued to work with the authorities to find Victor. She asked Phyllis where Nick was, but Phyllis said he was on a business trip and didn't know the details. Heather wasn't convinced and accused her of leading the authorities in the wrong direction. Phyllis told Heather to leave them alone. Heather then dug in the knife and informed Phyllis that she spied Nick spending time with Sharon. Phyll replied that she wasn't surprised, given that they share a child. Still, when Sharon stopped by to see Nick, Phyllis quizzed her about why she'd been with him. Sharon explained that she had a form for Nick to sign for Noah's Paris trip. After, Heather continued to push the idea of Nick cheating on Phyllis with Sharon, in order to make Phyllis spill the beans on her hubby. Phyllis wouldn't budge and told off Heather. Little Summer then complained that she was scared of the "bugs." Heather realized that they knew they were being listened in on.
Gloria called Kevin and told him that she thinks Jeffrey might turn her in for the tainted moisturizer. Kevin warned her to be careful. After, Jeff informed Glo that he saw Katherine drinking. Later at Crimson Lights, Katherine arrived and Gloria made a comment to Kay about falling off the wagon. Kay replied that it was her friend who was drinking. Glo then tried to again trick Kay into signing over her Jabot stock. Kay freaked out when Gloria mentioned Kay's "senior moments" and said she's tired of people thinking there's something wrong with her. Glo was unfazed and continued to insist that Kay sell her the stock. Gloria then feigned concern about Kay's mental health. Katherine admitted how forgetting things is frightening. They were interrupted when Kay got a phone call. Jeff wondered if Gloria was starting to feel sorry for Kay.
As Nick's plane was set to land, he asked Federal Agent Aguilar, who happened to be sitting with him, why everyone seems to know where and when the Newmans are traveling. Once they landed, Nick tried to "bet" Aguilar that he could lose him at the airport; he accused Nick of trying to bribe him — then upped the "wager." Nick agreed and paid up. (Wow, Wisconsin to South America is normally about a 10-hour flight... and Nick's plane only took about 15 minutes. Wonder what airline he was on?) Later, Phyllis called Nick and warned him about Heather.
Adam confronted Jack at the Abbott mansion about the blank tape and accused him of erasing it. Jack feigned innocence, but Adam didn't buy it. Sharon returned and heard the men arguing. Jack tried to explain to Sharon that Adam was angry with Victor, but Sharon suspected that more was going on. Jeff then stopped by and informed him that their plan to get "you know what from you know who" was going well. Sharon again demanded to know what was going on. She then went off on her husband. "Do you think I don't know how you operate, Jack?" she stated. "You've underestimated me from the start. I made a choice to keep my mouth shut when you gave me all of your vague excuses and your impossible explanations." Ouch. Jack finally gave her the "truth," that he was mentoring Adam. Sharon wanted more details. "I trust my own instincts, not your lies," she told him. Jack gave her a heartfelt apology, but Sharon was still concerned about the future of their marriage. "It doesn't work when only one person does all the work," she sighed. "It's like you're in a boat and you've got one oar. And you know, the more I keep paddling, the more circles we just go spinning around in, and I'm so tired of spinning around with you. To be frank with you, I'm not even sure I want to be in the boat anymore." She then quietly walked out of the room, leaving Jack to ponder his actions.
Wednesday
At the Newman offices, Nikki hung out with Victoria and baby Reed, who looked adorable in his Halloween costume. J.T. joined them and told them that all of their homes on the ranch had been bugged. Nikki was determined to find another way to help Victor.
Meanwhile, Nick returned home from South America. Phyllis then informed him that Sharon had been by to drop off forms for Nick to sign for Noah's trip.
Phyll wanted to know why Nick didn't tell her he'd been by to see Sharon before he left. Nick couldn't understand why she was so bothered by it; she insisted that she wasn't. Nick teased Phyllis about being jealous. Just then, Sharon stopped by to see Nick. Phyllis was obviously annoyed. They then discussed Victor and Nick filled her in on everything that was going on with him. Sharon wanted to know what she could do to help; Nick said to make sure Noah was okay. She agreed, then asked if she could have the form. Phyllis tried to keep her calm as he got it for her. After she left, Phyllis wanted to know why Nick told Sharon about Victor. Nick replied that it was so they could protect Noah.
Amber raced over to Crimson Lights when Kay called for an "emergency." Kay happily informed her that she showed a friend at a publishing house a few chapters of her memoirs and the friend liked them. Amber was thrilled and was confident that the public would love her book, but wondered how Jill would react to reading about her and Kay's rivalry. Katherine felt he had to write the story. When Amber stepped away, Kay called Marge and left a message for her, saying she was worried how Marge was doing. Amber returned and wondered why Kay looked so concerned. Kay replied that she had a friend who was drinking. "You see a lot of yourself in her," Amber said. "Much, much more than you realize," Kay told her.... In the dive bar, Marge was joined by an elderly man named Murphy. He warned her that she was in trouble at her job because she didn't show up for her shift. Murphy suggested he get her sober so she could get to work.... Later, Amber and Kay went through old newspaper clippings about Kay's life. Amber held up an old photo of Kay and declared that Mrs. Chancellor once looked like a movie star.... Murphy took Marge back to his trailer. He caught her searching for booze and told her that he doesn't have any. She admitted that she wanted to stop drinking, but couldn't. He suggested she needed one of those "places," a.k.a a rehab center. She replied that she couldn't afford it. She then got an idea.
Jill was annoyed when Brad arrived at Jabot. Heather explained that she asked him to come down, then questioned them about their involvement with David Chow and the Jabot stock manipulation case. They became defensive. Heather then told them that the case was being dropped. Both were relieved, but Heather still thought that they were somehow connected to Chow. After she left, Jill and Brad hurled insults at each other. "You may think you've come out of this whole thing unscratched, but what goes around, comes around," Brad warned. "You will get yours."
Sharon went to Crimson Lights for a cuppa and ignored a call from Jack. She was joined by Brad, who gave her his good news. He also informed her that Ashley and Abby were in London. Brad then quizzed Sharon about her marriage to Jack. Sharon admitted that they were going through a rough spot.... Phyllis continued to be upset with Nick. He implored her to talk to him about her insecurities, but she was afraid she'd look stupid. Nick was understanding and assured Phyllis that he loves her. Later, Phyllis spied Brad and Sharon together at the coffeehouse and made a snarky remark to the pair.
Jill wasn't thrilled about Kay publishing her memoir, calling it "tacky." Kay snapped back that she found a publisher who's interested. Jill refused to let her publish it, but Kay wouldn't let her stop it. Jill feared that Kay wouldn't paint Jill in a bad light. "In other words, tell the truth," Kay stated. Jill became upset; Kay suggested she get over it and deal with it. Jill went and made another appointment with the doctor.
Heather told Victoria and Nikki that she knows Victor was never in South America, and they were trying to throw her off. She demanded that they tell her where Victor is. Nikki refused. Heather replied that she and the authorities know about the chateau burning in France and now the European authorities are searching for him, as well. Nick and J.T. joined them and Heather continued to speechify at them. Victoria asked Heather to leave; Heather asked her to get Victor to cooperate. She finally left, but not before again warning them that Victor would be taken into custody when he was inevitably found. Nikki came up with another plan to help Victor. Nick and Victoria were concerned, but Nikki assured them that she knew what she was doing. Later, Nikki boarded a flight.
Thursday
Genoa City's younger set was in the Halloween spirit as they attended Billy's party. Daniel and Amber were punk rockers, while Chloe was a pregnant prom queen. HA! Everyone teased Kevin about merely wearing a suit, while Jana was all dressed up. Kevin explained that he just came from work.... Billy flirted with Amber and Chloe.... Lily received a text from the online dating service; the message was from a guy named Sonny.... Jana tried to read a crystal, noting that the spirits were really powerful. Kevin wanted her to ask how he could tap his "power within," but she warned him that no one was looking out for his soul.... Lily told Billy about her Internet connection.... Colleen called Amber a psycho. "If I were a psycho, I'd toss this drink in your face," Amber replied — and then totally did! Coll angrily stormed off.... Chloe recalled having sex with Billy.... Lily anxiously waited for Sonny to arrive at the party and had a fantasy of him being Cane. Instead, Billy joined her; Lily thanked him for the party.
Noah and Eden tried to get into a bar, but were laughed at by the bouncer.
Instead, they sat and talked by the curb outside. Noah told her about Cassie dying in a drunk driving accident. Eden felt guilty for bringing him to a bar and offered to share her new downloads with him.
At Newman, Neil apologized to Karen for having brought up the idea of them having kids. After, Karen met up with Olivia, who again promised to keep Karen's as-of-yet named condition confidential. Liv urged Karen to tell Neil the truth.... Tyra and Neil hung out at Crimson Lights. Officer Wallace, the cop who'd brought an MIA Ana back to Tyra, arrived and flirted with Tyra. She was upset when Wallace stated that there was no way that she could be Ana's mother, not realizing that he meant that she looked too young to be a parent. Neil explained that it was said as a compliment. Later, Karen told Neil that her mom died from ovarian cancer and she's a carrier. Because of that, she's 15 more times likely to get the disease; in order to prevent it, she had a hysterectomy. Neil was very understanding, but Karen wanted him to really think about whether he wants to be with her.
Nick and Victoria fretted over how Nikki was doing. They, along with J.T.
went to Nick and Phyllis's place for a Halloween party. Vicky couldn't get into the holiday spirit, though, since she was so worried about her mom.
Nick felt badly about Victor cutting them out of his life and missing out on his grandkids. Nick vowed that they wouldn't make the same mistakes as Victor, in terms of being parents. Later, the two couples discussed which dead people they'd want to communicate with. How morbid. Victoria wished she could make peace with the late Sabrina. Just then, a picture fell down. Nick and Phyllis insisted that they didn't have a ghost. Still, when everyone left the room, Victoria asked aloud if anyone was there. As she went to get a cup of coffee, she saw a shadow pass by — but no one was there. Vicky told everyone she spied a shadow of a woman, but they just laughed at her. They then heard the rattle that Sabrina gave Reed shake by itself. Now everyone was spooked. Later, the shadow against passed through the house and whispered Victor's name.
Friday
Sharon visited Heather and asked what the deal was between Adam and Jack.
Sensing Sharon's disapproval, Heather stated she didn't feel great about Jack and Adam scheming together, either. Sharon wondered how long Heather had known about this. Heather told her that Adam claimed Jack was helping him. She was reading some documents from an envelope labeled, "Victor Newman." Heather was called out of the office. Sharon saw the envelope and looked worried. Heather's associate came in and said the feds wanted to see the journal ASAP. Sharon made a call from Heather's phone, pretending to be Heather. She asked for copies of the journal ASAP. Sharon lingered until the copies were left on Heather's filing cabinet. She grabbed the papers and sneaked out of Heather's office. When Heather returned, she told her associate they had what they needed and were going to issue an international warrant for Victor's arrest.
Sharon told Jack she no longer could count on him to tell her the truth.
"It gets harder and harder to stay married to someone who doesn't trust me," Sharon noted, as she continued to complain about Jack's lies. Jack said he wanted to make things right. Sharon insisted on knowing what Jack had been arguing with Adam about. She didn't buy Jack's explanation that he wanted to help "Victor's jerk of a son." Adam rushed to Jack and told him that Heather found out there's a magazine about to publish Victor's diaries. Jack wasn't worried. Despite Adam's concerns, Jack thought everything was fine. "What if the feds find out it's faked?" Adam asked. Jack assured him the diary would be fully vetted. Adam didn't want to be caught. Jack hinted that the diary was sent anonymously and no one could get caught. Several hours later, Jack told Adam that the diary had been authenticated and that the magazine was going to press. Adam was happy and relieved.
Kay asked Nick what was up with Nikki and Heather. "I can't get into it,"
Nick said seriously. He did say, however, that the family didn't know if Victor would ever come home. At the office, Nick got a call from a priest telling him that Victor had arrived at his parish. "I have reason to believe he may be your father," the priest said. "He's tormented in his soul. I felt compelled to contact a member of his family." A grateful Nick promised him that one of them would be arriving at the parish shortly. Nick called his mother. Nikki didn't think Nick going to France was the best idea. She thought there was only one person who could get through to Victor.
In France, Victor prayed at the church. He spoke to the priest and continued to ask for spiritual guidance and help in coming out of "this depression. I feel so alone." The priest brought Victor some food. Victor told the priest about his wife's sad death. Victor didn't know why God let this happen to Sabrina. The priest tried to convince Victor that God was loving. Victor clearly wanted to believe what the priest was saying.
In London, Nikki begged someone on the other end of the phone to "please meet me." She flashed back on all the hurtful things Victor said to her when Sabrina died. Before long, Ashley showed up at Nikki's hotel room. "I'm glad you're here," said a relieved Nikki.
