Young and Restless Recaps
Y&R Week of November 24, 2008
Monday
Adam surprised Heather with a diamond necklace and they kissed, but the DA interrupted their happy moment and asked for a word alone with Heather. After, Heather asked why Adam transferred most of his money into a Swiss bank account. Adam resented her suspicions, claiming that he transferred the money before the Newman diary was published. When he suggested they move away from Genoa City, Heather stormed out, accusing her fiancé of not caring how important her job is to her. Meanwhile, Victor told Michael he's certain the diary is a fake and demanded to see it right away.
Phyllis approached Sharon at Crimson Lights and noted that Sharon looked awfully nervous. Sharon asked where Nick was and said she has some family business to discuss with him. Phyllis ran to Jack and whined that Sharon is with her husband again. Jack didn't know what Phyllis was getting at, so Phyllis tried to spell it out: "Your wife is slipping away from you." Jack told her to keep her theories to herself. Phyllis revealed that she knows about Mexico and the prostitute he hired at a cheap motel. She handed him the receipt as proof but he claimed the charges are erroneous. Phyllis yelled at Jack to wake up and not let his wife slip away, but Jack had a few choice words for Phyllis.
Sharon tracked Nick down at Restless Style wanting to talk about their kiss. He admitted he hadn't stopped thinking about it since Paris. They agreed it was unexpected and decided to blame it on getting caught up in the moment. Before she left, Sharon revealed that Jack introduced Adam to the publisher of Sophisticate. Nick knew just what she was suggesting and headed out for the jail. Meanwhile, Phyllis paid a surprise visit to Brad and announced that she'd like to discuss Sharon and Jack's marriage with him.
Paul gave Nikki a shoulder to cry on when she expressed her frustration regarding Victor. Ashley visited Victor, who thanked her for urging him to reconcile with his children. She suggested one more person deserves thanks: Nikki, who was responsible for Ashley finding Victor in Paris. But Victor held firm to his belief that Nikki indirectly caused the death of his wife and unborn child. Ashley stepped out and called Nikki, claiming that Victor wants to see her. Michael returned with the journal and showed it to Victor, who recognized the book and a note he wrote it in it, but nothing else. He insisted the rest of the writing is a forgery and he did not bring it back from Mexico with him, even though Adam claimed to have found it in a trashcan at Victor's house. Victor suggested Adam's working with someone on the scam and advised Michael to find out who it is. Michael ran right into Nick, who said he thinks Jack is involved in the forgery somehow. Sharon and Jack shared a chilly exchange before his meeting with the FBI. He gloated that they were about to regain control of Jabot, but Sharon failed to see that as good news. Victor advised Ashley to get back to her life in Paris, but Ashley insisted on bringing home Abby and staying in G.C. As they were hugging, Nikki was let in by a guard and locked eyes with Victor.
Tuesday
Neil and Olivia watched as Tyra got ready to go on a date with Detective Gil. After they left, Neil told Liv that he wasn't sure Gil was good enough for Tyra. They reminisced about Dru and a particular Thanksgiving dish she learned how to make from her Aunt Mamie. After Neil admitted that he still misses Dru, Liv urged him not to marry Karen, explaining that he wouldn't have the passion he'd had with his late wife. Instead, she suggested that Neil date Tyra... Tyra and Gil went to Crimson Lights. He asked her about Ana's father and she explained that he's not in the picture. Their date ended with a kiss.... Later, Neil gave Karen a Thanksgiving present: an engagement ring so he could make it official.
Phyllis suggested to Brad that they help each other with the Nick/Sharon situation. She informed him that Sharon and Jack's marriage was falling apart. "Let me explain something about Sharon," Phyll continued. "She can't be without a man. She has a history of jumping into bed with the first man she sees. My husband is not gonna be the one that she goes to for comfort this time."
Meanwhile, Jack and Sharon argued when he explained that he was taking care of a "business thing." Sharon accused him of keeping secrets from her. After, Heather wanted to question Jack about the diary, but he said he had nothing to hide. She and her cohort Dillon asked him about his friendship with Adam. Jack explained that he's known Adam since Adam was a boy and they crossed paths again when Adam went to publish an ad in Restless Style. Jack then lied that the first time he read the diary excerpts was when they were published. Heather wondered why Adam would want to have them published; Jack pointed out that Victor blackballed his own son and Adam couldn't get a job because of it. Jack lied that he had questions about the diary's
authenticity.
Nick confronted Adam about the diary. Adam insisted that he found it and told Nick to deal with it. Nick warned him that Jack had everything arranged so that Adam would take the fall. After, Nick shared his suspicions with Phyllis about Jack being involved.... Jack assured Adam that he had nothing to worry about regarding the diary, especially since the handwriting was verified. He noted that if Adam acts guilty, it will hurt him. Later, Heather told Adam that she's certain that Jack is hiding something. Adam replied that Jack was probably acting oddly because his marriage was falling apart. Heather didn't buy that.
Brad paid Sharon a visit and told her that he's there for her if she needs someone to listen to her problems.
Olivia and Ashley ran into each other at the GCAC and were thrilled to see each other. They sat down to have a drink. Liv expressed her concerns about Ashley being with Victor, but Ash replied that it felt right.
Victor called Nikki down to the prison and questioned her about the diary being published. Nikki was aghast that he thought she had something to do with it. "When I went to Mexico, I wasn't looking for redemption, Victor," she explained. "I went there out of concern, but what did I get for that? A swift kick in the teeth because you had lost someone. Your heart was broken. You know, you are not the first person in the history of mankind to have lost someone. But you are so damn arrogant and so self-absorbed that you really don't care about anybody else but yourself. And then when you get the chance, oh, boy, do you get even. You rip the heart out of anybody who has the misfortune to love you. I don't know how Ashley can go down that road again. You think she'd know better." Victor told her to leave. "I'm finished with you," Nikki told him. "I have cried my last tear over you." "I said get out!" he shouted. "You go to hell!" she spat back. After, Nikki vented to Paul about her encounter. "I'm surprised he didn't blame me for causing the stock market to plunge!" she sighed. Paul was proud of her for standing her ground. Paul invited Nikki to stay with him. They reminisced about the first time they'd met when they were teens. Their talk led to a kiss — and they hit the sheets!
Nick went to the prison to see his dad. Victor agreed that Adam probably didn't act on his own; Nick was determined to smoke out his brother and Jack.... Sharon told Jack that she wants to give their marriage one more chance.... Brad agreed to help Phyllis with her plan to keep Sharon from turning to Nick.
Wednesday
At the jail, Victoria and Nick visited Victor. He filled them in about Nikki coming to see him and how he'd told her he wants nothing to do with her. Nick then informed Victoria that Jack had been the one to introduce Adam to the publisher of the diary. Victor insisted that it was a forgery.
Meanwhile, Nikki and Paul awakened in bed together. They laughed about it being about 30 years since they'd slept together. Paul swore that he hadn't asked for her to stay with him simply so he could bed her. "Well then I'm glad you didn't stick to your intentions," Nikki cooed. She invited him to join her and her family for Thanksgiving. They agreed to keep their rendezvous secret for now.
Heather and Adam celebrated Thanksgiving together at the GCAC and agreed not to discuss Victor or the diaries. They looked forward to enjoying many more holidays together.
At the Abbott manse, Noah, Jack and Sharon prepared for Thanksgiving dinner. Jack was sad that he wasn't having a big Thanksgiving. Jack told Noah and Sharon how grateful he was to have them in his life. Later, Noah asked Sharon why things were so strained between her and Jack, but she insisted that their relationship was improving. Still, when Traci called and invited them to join her and Steve for a weekend in New York during the holiday season, a hesitant Sharon replied that she'd probably be busy with work during that time.
At the Winters home, Neil, Karen, Tyra, Gil, Lily, Devon and Ana got ready for their dinner. Neil explained that Olivia was out of town. Everyone cheered when Lily announced that she hadn't cooked the turkey. As they ate, Ana not-so-subtly hinted that Tyra and Gil should get engaged like Karen and Neil. Gil took it in stride. Neil raised a toast to the family. Later, Lily told her family that she and Billy have been "hanging out." Gil left when he got a call at the station. When he arrived, he was handed a notice reporting Ana as missing — and it was Yolanda who'd reported it. Gil returned to the Winters with a social service worker. Devon and Neil filled him in on Yolanda's drugged out past, but Gil said that he still had to follow the bulletin and take her. Devon refused to let Ana go anywhere, but she didn't have a choice. Ana was in hysterics as she was taken away.
Paul and Nikki joined Nick, Phyllis, Summer, Victoria, J.T. and Reed at the GCAC. Nick and J.T. announced that Paul was an honorary Newman. Nikki vowed to never shed another tear for Victor, but added that she doesn't want Nick and Victoria to get caught in the middle. Things became awkward when they spied Heather and Adam leaving the restaurant. Nick warned them that once the truth about the forged diary came out, it would be the couple's last holiday together. After, they discussed Jack probably being involved with the diary's publication. Later, Sharon and Noah joined them. Phyllis was visibly uncomfortable as Nick and Sharon joked about Sharon's cranberry sauce recipe. The group went around the table saying what they were thankful for: Noah — that he won't be grounded for much longer. Nick and Sharon - for their family and friends. Paul — to Nikki for sharing her family with him. Nikki — to have a new year ahead of her filled with possibilities. J.T. — that Victoria and Reed had the strength to fight while she was in a coma and were here with him. Victoria — that Victor was home. Phyllis — for her kids and her "super sexy" husband. She sealed her statement with a kiss as Sharon looked on.
Esther, Cane, Chloe, Jill and Billy met for their holiday dinner at the Chancellor Estate. Cane comforted Jill, who was still grieving over Kay. Jill was grateful that they could all be together. Chloe couldn't understand why Esther cooked instead of hiring someone... Jill revealed to Billy that she'd had a private chat at her late mother at Kay's gravesite.... Cane thanked Billy for being a friend to Lily. Billy urged Cane to stay away from Lily because he's messing with her head. Cane agreed. Billy then got a call from Lily. Jill was surprised to hear that he and Lily were close. Later, Cane was surprised when Chloe suggested they stay to keep Jill company as she dealt with Kay's absence. "I'm not heartless," Chloe insisted. However, things became tense when Jill and Esther argued over the way Jill had treated Kay while she was alive.... Chloe revealed that her and Cane's baby is a girl and the middle name will be Katherine. Jill and Esther were thrilled, but the moment was broken when Jill demanded that Esther get them champagne. Esther refused and fired herself as the maid. "We're equals. Get used to it," Esther told her.
At home, Adam gave Heather a sprig of mistletoe and they kissed under it. Adam suggested they have a Christmas wedding.
Murphy took "Marge" to the diner where she worked, but Kay didn't think it looked familiar. However, her boss demanded that she get to work. Kay obliged and was taken aback when the diner regulars welcomed her back. She had a difficult time handling the actual job and kept messing up everyone's orders. When her boss Joe snapped at her and threatened to can her, she reamed him out. The regulars applauded her moxy. Kay's fellow waitress Pearl believed that "Marge" was screwing up because she was drunk, but Kay insisted that she was sober. She again argued with Joe. "Who do you think you are, the Queen of England?" he asked. "If we were in England, we wouldn't be celebrating Thanksgiving," she replied. Joe was not amused, but Kay impressed him when she suddenly spouted out her next order in classic diner-speak. Kay vowed to be the best waitress he'd ever seen.
Jack paid Victor a visit at the prison. Jack insisted that he had no idea what Adam was giving to the publisher. Victor didn't believe him. Jack taunted Victor about Vic murdering Walter. "I didn't murder anyone," growled Victor, "but when I get out of here, I may change my mind about that."
