Monday
At Jabot, Victoria came up with a few new ideas, but was disappointed when Nikki told her Brad would be better for the project and asked her to work with the fragrance department. Nikki then told her that David was meeting with the fragrance team, but David was actually at Crimson Lights cursing at his bookie. He'd just learned he'd placed another losing bet.
"Will you marry me?" Victor asked Sabrina as she held the engagement ring. Sabrina gladly accepted. When Nick and Victoria arrived at the ranch after Victor summoned them, they found Adam and Sabrina there. When Victor entered the room, Nick asked if his health was okay. Victor said he was fine, and that he'd asked them to gather to announce his and Sabrina's engagement. All three of Victor's kids were surprised. Nick was the first to finally muster up a weak congrats. Victoria and Adam followed, then all three dispersed quickly, claiming they had business to attend to. When Victoria returned to the Jabot offices, she told Nikki about the engagement. Nikki was almost shocked breathless, but she kept her composure, telling Victoria that Victor could do whatever he wanted with his life. Later, Nikki told David she didn't want to wait to get married — she wanted to marry him right away.
Adrian returned home while Colleen finished packing for New York and Shanghai. Adrian got a call from his publisher saying the book was dead. Adrian's eyes began to fill with tears, and anger flushed over his face. Colleen told Adrian she wanted to stay with him, but Adrian couldn't look at her.
Colleen then went to the coffee shop to tell Kevin the news about the book. Kevin was thrilled, but Colleen told him that Adrian was devastated and wasn't speaking to her. Kevin told her to give Adrian time and hang out with he and Jana for a while. Colleen told Kevin she was leaving that night for New York and Shanghai. Kevin congratulated her, and told her things would work out. Later, Colleen met up with Lily, and they exchanged their good news: Colleen's trip to New York, and Lily's first magazine cover. After saying goodbye to Lily, Colleen returned home and found Adrian even angrier than he was when she left him. He told her his agent dropped him, and no other publishers were willing to pick the novel up. Colleen kept apologizing, but Adrian wasn't hearing it. When Brad arrived to take Colleen to the airport, Colleen tried once more to apologize, then left with tears in her eyes.
At the Restless Style offices, Jack, Sharon and Phyllis met with Jamie, who told them their magazine was garbage. Her first recommendation was to ditch Lily because she wasn't good enough for the cover. Phyllis was annoyed with Jamie's criticisms and told her they couldn't push back the release date and there was no time to find a big celebrity to be on the cover. Jamie told them there was always a way, and Jack went to work on finding a new cover model. When Jack got a lead on a possible, big name replacement, Phyllis told him they couldn't make any decisions because Nick wasn't around. Jack said there was no time to wait, and he called the printer and told them to stop the cover. When Nick returned to the office, he was infuriated when he learned what Jack did. He told Phyllis he had put up with being undermined long enough with Victor, and he wasn't about to go through it with Jack. Over dinner, Sharon tried to get Jack to understand Nick's point of view. Jack maintained that he had to make the decision fast, and that Nick shouldn't take it personally.
Tuesday
At Restless Style, Phyllis and Sharon chatted over how they couldn't believe a year had passed since Nick's plane crash. Soon Jamie and Jack arrived with the new cover model, Samantha. When Sharon rushed Samantha off to get ready for the photo shoot, Phyllis pulled Jack to the side, asking why he'd made the decision to go ahead with Samantha without asking Nick. Jack told Phyllis she should be happy he jumped on the opportunity. Later, Phyllis got more aggravated when Jack let Jamie decide on the cover look without consulting her. Jack made no apologies. The photo shoot went fantastic, but Phyllis still had a problem with not being a part of the decision making. Sharon told Phyllis to stop whining.
Meanwhile, Chloe, Lily, Devon and Cane went out to celebrate Lily's cover. While they toasted, Sharon stopped by their table to chat with Lily. Sharon asked to chat with her in private, but Lily told her she could speak to the whole table. "We've decided to go with another model and we're pulling your cover," Sharon said. The entire table was left speechless.
Victoria stopped by the ranch and was annoyed to see Sabrina and Adam making themselves at home. She decided to give Sabrina a piece of her mind, and accused her of going after Victor as a career move. Sabrina denied the accusation, but Victoria didn't back down. "So what if you ruined your relationship with your best friend...and so what if my father is still hurting from his divorce with my mother," Victoria said. Adam agreed with her, but Victoria accused him of playing Victor from day one before storming out.
David suggested he and Nikki elope and get married. Nikki was hesitant to fly on the anniversary of Nick's crash, but she decided it would be a great to turn the negative into a positive. When David called to check his credit account, he learned the engagement ring he got Nikki set him over his limit. This made it impossible for him to buy decent airline tickets for his and Nikki's trip. Fast forward to boarding time, when Nikki thought there must be some mistake when her ticket seat read "Seat 22." Instead of telling her he couldn't afford first class, David lied and said he'd gotten the last two seats available. Nikki said she didn't mind the adventure of coach, but when she got stuck sitting beside a cranky, old woman with a bad cough and a screeching cat, her excitement began to dwindle.
At the coffee shop, Karen told Neil she'd been offered a job in New York. "I thought you were happy here?" Neil asked. Karen admitted to regretting moving so fast with him. Neil apologized if he'd made her uncomfortable. As Karen began crying, she told Neil when he asked her to help raise Lily's baby, she knew he wanted her to be Dru. Neil denied ever expecting Karen to be like Dru, but Karen still felt it. Neil asked Karen to give him one more chance. Karen said she'd let Neil think about it, and if he could look her in the eye and say he didn't want her to leave, she'd stay.
When Karen returned, Neil admitted he'd done some soul searching and realized he wasn't ready. "The woman who comes into your life when you're ready is one lucky woman," Karen said. The two then kissed and hugged goodbye.
Wednesday
Nick and Jack finally had a chat at the Restless Style offices about Jack making decisions to change the magazine. Jack told Nick it was nothing personal, and he hoped Nick would understand. Nick said he did. "It'll make it a lot easier when you can't be around and I have to decide things," he noted.
Sabrina stopped by the Restless Style office looking for Nick and everyone congratulated her on the engagement. A piece of Daniel's artwork caught her eye, and Sabrina suggested Daniel consider art school because he had great potential. Before she left, Phyllis told Sabrina to stop by for lunch sometime.
While Nick gave Sharon, Jack and Phyllis a quick pep talk about teamwork, Daniel announced the first copy of the issue was on the way. When the issue made it to the office, everyone was thrilled with the outcome, and Nick admitted that Jack made the right calls. They then had to hustle to find extra printers so they could make their release deadline.
Later, Sabrina ran into Victoria at the coffeehouse. Victoria insulted Sabrina's ring, and told her she was kidding herself if she thought the size was a reflection of Victor's love. Sabrina told Victoria her engagement with Victor was serious and they weren't rushing. "I'm committed to him and he's committed to me," she insisted. "Nothing is going to change that."
At the club, Jill expressed her concerns about Nikki's performance at Jabot. She also didn't like that Nikki hired Victoria and her soon-to-be husband David to work for her. Kay pointed about that it was no different than letting Cane work there. Jill backed off, but she was furious that Brad had been picking up all of Nikki's slack.
Kay stepped away to chat with Victor, and after she talked with him about her concerns for Victoria, she gave Victor Nikki's wedding news. Victor was shocked to learn Nikki and David had eloped. "I guess I should send my condolences," he quipped.
Nikki and David arrived in Mexico and were disappointed to learn the chapel they wanted to marry in recently burned down. The owner of the store said he could marry them, but Nikki wasn't into it, feeling icky and exhausted from her plane ride and stressed out that the airline lost their luggage. Nikki thought it might be a sign the wedding shouldn't happen. David agreed that her wedding should be everything she wanted it to be, and he said they should marry in August and do it right.
Before Nikki and David could check on flights back to Genoa City, the store owner's wife offered a white dress for Nikki to wear, and suggested she and David tie the knot in a beautiful, nearby garden. Nikki and David decided to go through with the wedding, and Nikki called Victoria to give her the news. Victoria was devastated that Nikki didn't tell her or allow her to be included in the wedding. She forced her congratulations, then immediately called Nick to vent. In the flower garden, Nikki and David had their Mexican wedding, complete with a Spanish guitar serenade.
Thursday
Alistair tried to sweet talk Jill into grabbing a bit to eat with him, but Jill reminded him he was on the clock and needed to figure out the truth behind Gloria and Jeff's relationship.
Meanwhile, Cane, Lily and Devon helped Chloe move in. Devon was concerned about the new living arrangements as Chloe unloaded box after box of junk. Cane thought the house would get two crowded with the three of them, and he invited Lily to move in with him. Lily thanked him, but said after her divorce and miscarriage, she just wanted to enjoy having a normal relationship with him.
Later the four went out for drinks, and after Chloe had one too many, Devon told her to slow down. "It's not like I'm pregnant," Chloe blurted out. She immediately realized what she'd said, and apologized to Cane and Lily. Cane wanted to change the subject, but Lily said she was fine and didn't want them to edit themselves around her. When Chloe noticed how supportive Cane was of Lily, she babbled about how lucky she was to have such a great guy. When Chloe returned to the house, Cane helped her inside. While they were alone, drunken Chloe leaned in and planted a huge kiss on him.
At the Restless Style office, the system crashed and everyone scrambled to figure out how they could get their work back. When the computer tech came in, he told them a bad e-mail corrupted the system. Amber freaked when she realized it was an e-mail she opened. When she confessed, Phyllis and Jack were livid. Amber apologized, and Phyllis told her she'd be fired if they couldn't launch the webzine. A few desks over, Jack heard Nick on the phone with their travel writer. When Jack realized Nick had changed the travel feature for the second issue, he asked Nick why he didn't consult him. Nick reminded Jack that he said they might not always be able to vote on every decision. Soon, Mitch called to tell Jack the printer could no longer guarantee delivery of the magazines at the scheduled shipment time. The team was worried they might not be able to launch in any form, but IT soon called with news that the site was back up and all the content had been restored. Not long after, they received word the printers had met the deadline, and the magazines were being loaded for delivery.
At the mansion, Kay tried to convince Jeff not to go after Jill and to stick with Gloria. Jeff said he was not in love with Gloria, and was growing fond of Jill. Jeff wanted to catch Jill before she left work and invite her to dinner, but before he could leave, Gloria called and asked him to meet her at the coffee shop. Kay was glad he would be going to see Gloria rather than Jill. When Jill came home and asked Kay where Jeff was rushing to, she got a little jealous when Kay said he was going to see Gloria.
At the coffeehouse, Alistair tried to get Gloria to sit with him, but she declined. Instead, Gloria looked over the papers Jeff sent her requesting half of her estate. When Jeff arrived, Gloria asked him if he wanted to reconsider the divorce. He asked why Gloria was changing her mind. Gloria admitted she didn't want to give him half of her estate. She told him it wouldn't leave her with enough to live comfortably. Jeff thought $50 million was more than enough, but Gloria told him she'd donated $50 million to charity, so her total estate was only worth $50 million, meaning he would only get $25 million. Jeffrey was infuriated and demanded Gloria get the money back. She said she couldn't. Jeff said she still had to give him $50 million or else he'd turn her over to the police. Gloria told him she'd be broke if she gave him $50 million, but Jeff didn't care.
Friday
At the coffee shop, Gloria showed up looking like a train wreck. She told Kevin she couldn't sleep because she was having nightmares, thanks to her giving away half of her fortune to charity to improve her karma. Kevin said she'd still have $50 million, but Gloria said Jeffrey was divorcing her and asking for the entire $50 million. Kevin immediately called Michael for help.
When Michael arrived, he tried to remain calm and ask Gloria why she would be stupid enough to give away $50 million dollars. Michael said she should have consulted him first. Michael said he'd find a way out of the donation, but Gloria said she didn't think he could because she made sure it was iron-clad. Michael read over the papers for Gloria's donation and told her there was nothing he could do.
Depressed, Gloria left the coffee shop and went for a stroll in the park and ran into Alistair. He asked her what was wrong, and she told him her sons had turned their backs on her and she was broke just like he was. Alistair offered Gloria a sip of his liquor. After a few swigs, Gloria loosened up and asked Alistair back to her suite at the club. Once back at the club, Alistair asked Gloria if he could spend the night. "It's too late to spend the day," Gloria drunkenly giggled.
At the Chancellor estate, Kay told Jill to watch out for Jeff. Jill was frustrated that Kay didn't think she could take care of herself. She said she wasn't in love with Jeffrey; she was just having fun. Later Jeff tried to convince Jill he felt something more for her than just friendship. She told him that couldn't be possible as long as he was still attached to Gloria. Jeff claimed he was crazy about Jill, and they shared a few laughs. Jeff finally admitted he really was in love with Gloria, but he said he'd tried to get her back but had no luck. Jill told him there was always a way.
Later, Kay stopped by the Restless Style office to join the celebration for the launch. The Web site was getting a large amount of hits, and projected sales were coming back positive in many regions. As the critiques came rolling in, the magazine got nothing but rave reviews from industry leaders.
At the ranch, Sabrina suggested Victor go wish Nick well on the magazine launch. Victor was hesitant, but he finally agreed to go to the office. On their way to the office, Nikki and David got in the elevator with Victor and Sabrina. Moments later, they all got stuck. David tried calling out for help, but Nikki told him it was useless. Victor immediately criticized Nick for buying the building without having it properly inspected. Victor also took a shot at Nikki, telling her good job for running off to Mexico and sparing the children the embarrassment of she and David's wedding. Nikki said Victoria and Nick were fine with David, but weren't happy about Sabrina. Nikki and Victor continued to trade shots until the lights went out in the elevator.
