Y&R Week of March 17, 2008
Monday
Gloria sat on the edge of the bed, baffled over how John's book appeared on the nightstand. Jeff told her to relax, but Gloria insisted that John was buried with the book and there was no way it should be there. Jeff tried to calm her down by telling her John might have had multiple copies, but Gloria took the book's appearance as a sign. Jeff accused her of trying to stop their impending lovemaking, but Gloria denied the accusation, saying it was Jack's fault because he put a curse on her. Claiming she was lightheaded, Gloria jumped up to change and go eat. "You are such a tease," Jeff said as she walked out. Once alone, Gloria called Kevin and invited he and Jana over for dinner to celebrate her triumph over Jack and Sharon.
At the athletic club, Jack and Sharon toasted to their latest get-rid-of-Gloria scheme. When Michael and Lauren walked in, Jack continued the charade, telling them that he and Sharon had moved into the club and given Gloria the mansion. Once alone again, Jack told Sharon he had a message from Jeff saying phase one of the plan worked. Taking it a step further, Jack and Sharon decided to hire an actor to play John's ghost.
Michael and Lauren sensed something was up, and tried to figure out what Jack and Sharon were trying to pull. Michael then got a call from Gloria inviting him to dinner at the mansion.
Lily tried to take five from another high-stress day with Chloe. Cane told her she could have the rest of the day off, but when Chloe returned she told Lily they still had too much work to do for the Restless Style party for her to take off. Lily thanked Cane for saving her, and Cane told her their journey for the day was just beginning. Later, he revealed that he'd be giving her a massage to help her relax. Lily was surprised and appreciative. Meanwhile, Amber tried to convince Kevin not to burn all of the money she'd been secretly stashing. Daniel told her it was too risky, and minutes later, Jana walked in, asking if she was interrupting something. Amber covered by saying they were discussing her new job at Restless Style. Kevin told Jana they were going to dinner at the Abbott mansion, and he reminded Amber that she wasn't off the hook — he'd be back to torch the cash. Once alone, Daniel and Amber began to burn the cash, and filmed it for proof.
Later, Daniel went to see Kay to take her up on her offer to invest in his and Amber's clothing line.
When Kevin and Jana arrived at the Abbott manse, they congratulated Gloria for winning her battle. Gloria was happy, but worried she would lose everything if she couldn't convince Jeff she loved him. Kevin could see something was troubling Gloria, and she told him about John's book that seemed to appear from the grave. "How fantastically creepy," Jana replied to Gloria's story. Kevin assumed Jeff was just trying to scare Glo. Gloria said that there was no way Jeff could have gotten his hands on the book. When Michael and Lauren showed up, Michael tried to convince Gloria that Jack and Sharon were pulling a fast one on her.
Seeking to get to the bottom of Gloria and Jeff's new fondness for each other, Michael and Lauren decided to pick a fight so Gloria would offer to let Lauren stay in the mansion. The play fight worked, and Lauren prepared to spend the night and spy on Gloria and Jeff.
Tuesday
At the Restless Style offices, Kay surprised Amber with a check to launch her clothing line. Amber was thrilled beyond words and promised Kay she wouldn't let her down. While Nick and Phyllis went over a few final details about the launch party, Danny finally called, and Phyllis was relieved that he agreed to perform at the party. Danny asked Phyllis how Daniel was doing, and Phyllis said he was fine. Once off the phone, Nick asked how Phyllis would handle telling Daniel that Danny would be in town. Phyllis said she would take care of it, but before she could give it thought, Victoria and Sabrina showed up to pick out dresses to wear to the party. Victoria told Nick she tried to convince Victor to come, but Nick said he didn't want their father there. "I know that you're hurting more than you let on," Victoria told her sib.
Later, Amber and Daniel went to celebrate Kay's donation. Amber was wondered how Kay knew how much money to give, and then she realized Daniel had met with Kay about it. Amber thanked Daniel for helping make her dreams come true. Before Phyllis could reach Daniel to tell him Danny would be in town, the two ran into each other at Crimson Lights. Daniel asked Danny what he was doing there while Amber gushed about how big a fan she was. Nick jumped in and told Daniel that they invited Danny to perform at the party. Danny tried to reach out to Daniel, but Daniel remained cold. "I'm not that interested in anything you have to say to me," he said before walking away.
At the Abbott manse, Lauren dabbed water on her eyes, attempting to make herself look like she'd been crying all night. She kept up her charade, and to Jeff's disappointment, Gloria offered to let her stay as long as she wanted. Lauren accepted, and made plans to pick up Fenmore and more clothes. Once alone, Jeff called Jack to let him know Lauren was moving in. Lauren caught Jeff talking to Jack and asked what they were conspiring about. Jeff covered saying Jack needed to stop by to pick up a few more things.
Back at the coffee shop, Gloria told Michael she thought Lauren was moving in to spy on her. Michael told Gloria they really were fighting and everything wasn't about her. Michael then went home to wait for Lauren. When she arrived she told Michael that Jack and Jeff were conspiring about something but she couldn't figure out what. When Gloria returned home, she found Jack and Sharon with Jeff. Sharon said they were picking up a few things, and before they left, Jack told Gloria she should be ashamed to sleep with Jeff in John's bed, and that John was probably turning over in his grave. Later, Jeff tried to get Gloria in the mood. When he left to retrieve a bottle of wine, Gloria found one of John's jackets on the couch and Jeff hid and watched as she freaked out.
At the GCAC, Sharon and Jack found the perfect man to play John's ghost.
Sharon eventually made contact with Alistair, and set up a meeting with him at the Restless Style offices. When Alistair showed up, Sharon and Jack were amazed at how much he resembled John.
Wednesday
Still frightened from discovering John's jacket on the couch, Gloria asked Jeff if he placed it there to scare her. Jeff laughed at Gloria's accusations and reminded her that he'd fallen in love with her and didn't want to push her away. Jeff suggested Gloria get out of the house and get back to work to clear her mind. "I'm not crazy," Gloria muttered as she walked away.
At Jabot, Paul stopped by to ask Nikki if there were any opportunities for Heather at the company. Nikki was surprised to learn Heather was Paul's daughter, and Paul told her that they were still working through their issues. Nikki agreed not to tell Heather that Paul stopped by on her behalf, and she called Heather and invited her to come into the office to interview. When Heather arrived, Nikki was impressed that she had a backbone when she questioned her about investigating Victor.
At the Restless Style offices, Phyllis freaked when the publicist told her a fashion blog cited Victor as the brains behind the magazine launch. Before Phyllis could decide on damage control, Danny and Nick showed up. Phyllis was glad to see Danny, but asked him to lay low until she had the chance to tell Daniel he was in town. Danny told Phyllis that he'd already run into Daniel, and that it wasn't pretty. Danny was angry that Phyllis hadn't warned Daniel about his trip to Genoa City, and Phyllis desperately tried to reach Daniel to explain.
Meanwhile, Amber tried to convince Daniel to go back to work, but he wanted to stay as far away from Restless Style and Danny as possible. When Amber returned to work, Phyllis railed against her for leaving the office without telling her. Amber apologized and said she'd been with Daniel. Phyllis told Amber she could take care of her own family, and went to go try to patch things up with Daniel. When Phyllis found Daniel she apologized and he eventually forgave her. He also agreed to go back to work since he made the commitment and wanted to prove he had a solid work ethic. Later, when Phyllis spoke with Danny, he told her he wished he hadn't returned to town. Phyllis told him that he had to make things right with Daniel, because that was all that mattered.
At the club, Jack and Sharon were floored at the resemblance when Alistair shaved and dressed in John's suit. When the couple explained what they wanted him to do, Alistair questioned whether his "role" was legal. Sharon assured him it was a harmless, yet secret, prank. Alistair was hesitant, but after Jack told him he'd be compensated $10,000, Alistair agreed and vowed to give the performance of his career. When Gloria returned home from visiting Jill at Jabot, Jeff pulled her in for a hug, and when she looked over his shoulder she screamed when she saw "John."
