Y&R Week of February 4, 2008

Monday

When Jack and Sharon warned Noah they had new house guests coming, Noah said Gloria "gives me the creeps" and asked to move in with his dad while she and Jeff were there. Sharon and Jack discussed it, but Jack didn't want his family disrupted. "We could make Gloria wish to hell the judge had never ruled in her favor," he plotted. Meanwhile, over morning coffee, Nick and Phyllis discussed Jack's business offer to start "a breakthrough online lifestyle and fashion magazine." They were excited, especially about working together again. Just when Phyllis noted she and Sharon need to "scout the globe for talented new stars and designers and products," her new partner showed up worried about Noah. Nick and Phyllis agreed to watch him if it came to it. Then Sharon revealed teaming up against Gloria was the perfect thing to get her and Jack moving forward. She seemed less sure about their new biz, noting pointedly, "Us working together will certainly send a message" to Victor, but Nick shrugged it off.

At Crimson, Jeff feared Gloria's tacky plan would be too transparent, but became entertained as she talked about picking up junk at garage sales and the like. When Jeff left, Kevin accused his mother of actually liking her hubby, but she claimed it was part of the act. Then she gloated over her plans to be Jack and Sharon's "roommate from hell", plotting, "If Noah is miserable, Sharon will run for the hills." Meanwhile, Jeff ran into Jill and updated her on their plans to move into the manse. She was thrilled at the idea of Gloria driving Jack mad, but then there was an uncomfortable moment where she wondered if Jeff was picking up on her. He stood behind his feelings for his wife, who entered as if on cue. Jill wished her luck in torturing Jack and hoped the DA would put him behind bars for Ji Min's murder. Later, Jack was getting the house ready for their guests and Noah offered to help "drive" them out, but Jack warned Sharon wouldn't like that. Then a glowing Gloria arrived with Kevin and dropped to the couch, sighing, "I'm home!" She was followed by a slew of delivery men with boxes of tack and then Jeff with a box of "champagne." Right after Sharon arrived to stand by Jack, Kevin brought in the piece de resistance: a portrait of Gloria for the mantel, followed by a nasty leather recliner. "You can bring all the cheesy, gaudy junk in here you can pack in: This will never be your home," Jack said, swearing to put her back on the streets.

With Heather relaxed and back to herself, Maggie wondered if dropping the Newman case was for the best. When Jill showed up to check the status of her dead fiance's murder investigation, Heather admitted she wasn't convinced of Victors' innocence, but Jill countered, "Why don't the two of you get real and start focusing your attention on Jack Abbott?" After Jill left, Heather noted that Jack might actually have been the last person to see Ji Min alive and they agreed he had motive. Before they could look into getting a warrant, however, DA Dennis arrived. Her boss had just met with Victor, who threatened to file a civil suit and ordered him to issue an apology and fire Heather. Instead, he demoted Heather to narcotics cases. Maggie suggested she give him time to cool off and promised to keep her in the loop. When Maggie went for a drink at the GCAC, she ran into Victor, who asked if she'd been fired yet and challenged her to redeem herself by finding Jack guilty. On his way out, Victor ran into David, who was moving out of the hotel. Victor told him he better not be moving onto his property. David then went to see Nikki, who was getting up to speed at Jabot, with Jill's help. After Jill left, he admitted he was "selfishly disappointed" about Nikki's new gig. She countered by making him co-CEO. Then she went to see Nick and offered her son a job. He floored her by turning her down and teasing his new secret biz with Jack. "This family business stuff gets kinda complicated," he noted. When she updated David, she admitted she was disappointed, but understood why Nick didn't want to work with family again. Then David's "pal" Walter pretended be an excited old friend who was accidentally running into him and offered to buy them dinner sometime. David tried to play it down, but Nikki liked the idea of learning more about her fiancé. Meanwhile, Victor went to Chancellor Estate and asked Jill to warn Katherine that, "Putting my ex-wife in charge of Jabot is ludicrous. She is not qualified to run a company of that size." Jill didn't agree, so he smiled that he warned her and left.

Adrian showed up to take Colleen out, but she had to work, so he chatted up boozing Heather, teasing her about skipping school. When he empathized about the case, she ordered another drink and pled her own case as a great prosecutor. He gave her a pep talk until Paul and Maggie showed up and suggested they have dinner. When she asked Adrian to join them, he agreed and ordered a drink from Colleen. She returned with the drinks and watched uncomfortably as Adrian suggested he and Heather start a book club. After dinner, Heather wanted to get back to the office, even though she'd had at least three drinks. Maggie couldn't talk her out of it, so Paul offered to be an extra set of eyes. Later, jealous Colleen questioned Adrian and let some passive aggressive comments slip. He called her on it, so she apologized, "I guess if I were in her shoes, I would be drinking, too." He called her his good girl and left her with a kiss on the head.

Tuesday

Paul showed up at Heather's office with morning coffee and found her passed out amid her files. She was hung over, but calmer about her situation. "I was too ambitious," she admitted. "My evidence against Victor was weak and...suspect, and I should've seen the holes." Paul pushed her to move on and she decided to pursue leads on Jack. After they talked it out, however, he warned, "I strongly urge you to build a stronger case before you call Dennis Ellroy. You are still on his bad side." Undeterred, she called right away and set up a meeting. When Paul met with Maggie in Cassie's Corner, she too was concerned about Heather, but also noted, "You sound like a father." He demurred that he was taking it slow with Heather, and they both thought it was working. Then Maggie was "summoned" by Ellroy, who was happy to see the case still had legs, but told Heather, "You had your shot and you blew it." She went to Crimson Lights and ran into Paul. She joined him on the patio and thanked him for his support. Inside, Daniel was bummed over not landing a job, so he asked Amber to fill him in on Marina's downfall. At least they were able to laugh at their situations and Amber even said she had learned her lesson. When Phyllis showed up, she instantly teased him about his hair. Then she made him a pseudo job offer at her "cool, hip rag," though she still had to clear the offer with her partners. He wanted to be the new photographer, but agreed to work his way up if he must. Amber overheard and was as excited as Daniel, hoping she could get her designs into the new mag. Daniel rolled his eyes since he didn't actually have a job yet himself and even Jana told her to slow her roll, but Amber was unstoppable. When the girls spotted Daniel working on cheering up Heather, Jana thought they were a cute couple, but wondered if Amber was jealous. Amber insisted she was a "platonic" friend who knew he could do better than Heather. When he came in with Heather, Daniel suggested they perk her up with a party and everyone was up for it, though Amber didn't seem the least bit excited.

Neil and Victor discussed Brad's appeal for Nick's job. Neil warned replacing Nick would be tough and wondered what would happen if Nick wanted to return, but Victor insisted, "If my son wants to come, he better come to me. And then maybe — maybe I'll consider it." Neil empathized over Nick's betrayal, but reminded him Nick "idolizes you." Victor disagreed, explaining, "My son has never really been close to me. It's one of the saddest things I have ever had to say." When Jack and Nick met up for a business breakfast, Jack wondered how Victor would react to Nick working with him. Nick said that was "his problem, not mine." Jack was concerned Victor would see this as an act of betrayal, but apologized for questioning Nick's motives. "My dad treated me like crap for years. And you know why? Because everything I did in my life wasn't for him," Nick said, insisting moving on was the right decision. Later, Phyllis joined them and was impressed with her "two powerful men conquering the world." She was also excited about the "mock online community" she'd developed, but quickly picked up on how tired Jack looked. "Gloria decided to assault my senses by turning the house into a freak show, garage sale," he bemoaned. They laughed and teased, reminding Jack that Gloria was "playing with" him. Then they toasted their new future, just as Victor entered. He walked calmly up to the trio and asked after the occasion. "Good luck, because you'll need it," Victor smiled, "Magazines notoriously make no money." When Phyllis and Nick got home, Nick was frustrated that he let his father get to him. Meanwhile Victor told Neil, "Let's not discuss my son anymore. He will not be coming back to this company." Then he got a call from an old friend and after hearing bad news, promised, "I'll be there as soon I can."

After a Kevin and Gloria plotting session, Jeff noted the duo seemed "more like cohorts than you do mother and son." She didn't deny trying to hatch a plan, but claimed she was out of luck, since Jeff had "all the angles covered." He then complained about not sharing a room with Gloria, while having to share the manse with Jack and Sharon. He pushed her to get their roommates out, so she put her next phase into effect and called over a news reporter. "'The Triumphant Return of Gloria Abbott to the Mansion'. Catchy title, don't you think?" she bragged to her hubby. Then she told the reporter of their social future at the manse, forecasting, "Three or four soirées a month — musicians, artists, Mayflower bluebloods." When Jack returned home, he didn't miss a beat, sending Jeff to show the photog the grounds and skewering Gloria for "bringing the press into this." He threatened to turn her style spread into a scandalous story "with one quote" and walked out. She followed, promising to spin anything he said right back at him. He called her on her plan to force him out and insisted he was "smarter" and "tougher" than she. When the reporter returned and asked if there was truth to the rumor that a judge forced him to let Gloria in, smiling Jack demurred, "It was my father's wish that Gloria live here with us. My father's wish is my command." He had her eating out of his hand, until Maggie showed up. The camera flashed away as she told Jack she had a warrant "to search the premises as part of the Ji Min Kim murder investigation."

Wednesday

Sharon got home just as Maggie and her team finished searching the Abbott manse. Jack told her, Gloria and Jeff that the police found nothing, but Gloria wheedled him until he stormed out of the living room with an eye roll. Jack told Sharon not to worry, but she noted, "If Victor is behind this, you can get railroaded." She was also worried about Noah living with Gloria's madness, but it was Noah who managed to give Gloria a scare. He apologized, but Gloria told him not to fear her. She empathized at the "awkward" situation and suggested he and his fam move out. He countered that she move too, but she insisted John wanted her there and not Jack, "because of all the bad things Jack did. And wherever John is right now, I don't think he's very happy with Jack." Sharon was not happy to find them together and raised her voice at Gloria, who just called her a "drama queen" and promised if they stayed at the manse, "It's going to be a bumpy night." When Sharon took Noah to stay with Nick, Noah called Gloria "evil." Sharon reprimanded him for being disrespectful, but he just warned her to be careful. Back at home, Gloria daydreamed about when Jack goes to prison, which made Sharon and Jack wonder if she were behind the search. Gloria denied any part and smiled it was his "past catching up." Then she got cozy in the living room with Jeff and blasted Korean opera. Jack turned it off, but then he and Sharon packed their bags. Sharon was loathe to let the roomies think they'd won, but Jack countered, "That way we can plan on how we're going to hit them without them knowing it." They put on a good show for their roommates, but Gloria wasn't fooled. Once they were alone, Jeff got a great laugh after making a play for Gloria and watching her balk.

JT brought Victoria a baby tuxedo shirt for Reed to wear to their wedding, while Nikki made sure Vikki's wedding dress and the guest list were ready for the big day. When Phyllis and Nick showed up at Nikki's, Nick noted that with Noah in the wedding, Sharon should be invited. Nikki worried about Jack setting Victor off, but Nick shrugged, "When is Dad every happy? Seriously, I say we quit worrying." Later Victoria asked Phyllis to be her matron of honor, while JT found Paul and invited him to be his best man. When Victoria called her dad to ask him to come see her, she could tell he was troubled and feared it was about the wedding, but he said he was just overwhelmed. In fact, he was concerned about his ex-wife Hope and made a call about her mysterious situation. On his way to see Victoria, he ran into Jack, who accused him of sicking the cops on him. Victor wasn't sorry to hear the news, but denied having a part in it. Jack threw his project with Nick in Victor's face, but Victor insisted that was Nick's mistake to make and then told him to get out of the building. When he got to Victoria, she asked him to "be on your best behavior" at her wedding, in spite of his feelings about many of her guests. After he left, she talked excitedly to baby Reed about her big day, but when she went to stand next to him, her legs weren't strong enough to hold her up. JT found her crying, frustrated and desperate to walk down the aisle. He promised he and her father "won't let you fall, ever again." Back at Newman, Victor offered Neil Nick's old job as acting CEO. Neil accepted and they sealed the deal with a handshake. Then Victor ordered the jet on the ready for him to leave after Victoria's wedding.
Katherine's doc finished up another house call by reporting she was doing well, but reminding her to take it easy. When Cane came downstairs, he questioned why the checkup, but Katherine avoided his questions. Amber came in as the doc was leaving and Cane immediately snarked at her. "What is it you're after?" Cane demanded of his ex. "What's with the sudden dedication to my grandma?" Amber countered, "You made your point to me the other day," and insisted she'd never hurt Kay, who was a "friend and mentor." After Kay told him to accept their friendship, an unsure Cane left for work, leaving Amber to grill Kay about the doctor's visit. Kay insisted she was fine and claimed Amber's worrying was the reason she didn't fill in Jill or Cane. After praising Amber for standing up to Cane, she pulled out some memories she'd written down for her memoirs and asked Amber to help her. As Kay read a story of one of her past tantrums, Amber teased her for being needy and drunk. They got a good laugh, but Kay needed a break. When Amber returned with snacks and tea, Kay was asleep on the couch. She covered her and blew her a kiss.

Jill introduced Lily to Chloe, "a fashion coordinator who will be working with you on your first project." Cane came in as they were getting acquainted and Chloe immediately made a play for him. Lily used the "just good friends" line and Cane said he wasn't looking for love, but over lunch, Chloe pushed Lily for the truth, saying, "I know sexual energy when I'm near it." Lily laughed, but her dad showed up before she could answer. He almost agreed to join them, but then Cane came in, so he came up with an excuse to leave. When Chloe was pulled away by a call, Lily told Cane she was over trying to hide that "I'm falling in love with you." He demurred that he didn't realize she felt that way. She was surprised too. Then she suggested he try to win over Neil. "That's my new mission," he promised.

Thursday

The Newman clan and manse got gussied up for Victoria's big "family" day, but Victoria was wiped out just from her wedding dress fitting. She took a break with Nikki to talk about how great JT was, while JT watched over the decorating going on downstairs and got the "welcome to the family talk" from Victor about "loyalty and allegiance." When Nikki came down, she was impressed with the set-up and she and Victor even had a semi-nice moment, but he ruined it by sniffing that he didn't remember their good times. He excused himself when David arrived and made a call about sending his jet to pick up a top doc to see Hope. He ignored Nick when he walked passed and he barely acknowledged Kay. With guests arriving, Noah was hiding out on the phone with Abby, plotting about how to get rid of Gloria. When Brad showed up with a baby gift, JT invited him to stay, but he declined. Then Paul showed up to straighten JT's tie and get him ready. JT gave Noah the rings, which left Nick to welcome him to the family. Upstairs, Victoria hung with the baby until JT joined them and gave her a charm bracelet. Then Nikki sent him out so she could get her daughter ready. Katherine came up to give her something borrowed, blue and old — the ring she wore at her wedding to Phillip. Then Victor asked for a moment alone with Victoria. After some mushy father-daughter talk, she asked him to hold her up during the ceremony. He agreed and led her down the aisle.

Sharon and Jack stopped at Crimson Lights for a Gloria bitch session. Jack said he had a plan "percolating," but Sharon was more concerned about the police looking at him for Ji Min's murder. Then she suggested they consider looking at renting a place, but Jack was committed to getting back into the family manse. When Michael came in, he wouldn't take responsibility for Gloria's actions or Maggie's interest in Jack, but they egged him on until he smiled, "Now that you point it out, I really am very happy, because you're so miserable." Eavesdropping Paul called Maggie to tell her Jack and Sharon "seem to be under a lot of stress. He just feels like a man to me that's been backed into a corner." Meanwhile, Amber let the pair know she wanted to work on their new magazine. Sharon was "skeptical" when Jack was supportive and asked to see her designs again. Sharon told Jack they were "zany" instead of "classic." He thought that would be fun in the mag, but told Amber they'd get back to her. When Kevin came to pick Amber up for their party, she was bummed about the brush-off. He looked at her sketches and praised her potential, telling her not to give up and even pointing out a design he'd buy for Jana.

At the Abbott manse, Gloria found Jeff lounging in Jack's robe and plotting ways to spend their money. When he went for a run, she talked to John's picture, apologizing for her behavior and remembering how she loved him. When Kevin arrived, she wondered why Jeff hadn't thrown her in jail yet. He suggested Jeff was torturing her, but she said it was "stranger than that." Jeff came back from his run and happily kissed her, making her mutter that the "crazy" was enjoying himself. "He could actually be in love with you," Kevin realized, but she told him to bite his tongue. Then she made his day by saying it was time to "let the poisoning begin." He excitedly outlined the plan and suggested she take the first dose immediately. She was afraid, but Kevin pushed her. Then Michael showed up, demanding to hear their current plan or turn Jeff in for blackmail. He grabbed the poison out of Kevin's hand, but Kevin laughed when he called it poison and Gloria laughed at the idea she'd kill Jeff. Kevin then said it was a gag pre-wedding gift from Jana. Mikey didn't buy it, but before he could figure out what they were up to, he got a call. Before leaving, he told Gloria she better not plan "any lame-brained, half-witted, low-functioning caper." Kevin followed him out, leaving her to take the poison on her own. She shakily served herself tea, adding one drop of poison. Jeff startled her as she was about to take a sip. She lost her patience and screamed at him about his spending and blackmailing. "I could ask for a lot more," he growled. "Like pushing you to consummate the marriage." He told her the stress she felt was only caused by her resistance and insisted, "If you gave us half a chance, we could have a lot of fun together, especially living here!" Jack and Sharon were tickled pink when they walked in on the screaming fit.

Friday

Victoria, looking beautiful, paused for a moment with Victor before beginning her and J.T.'s wedding. "Are you ready?" Victor asked her. "This is it," she said, with a big smile. He then led her down the aisle where J.T. greeted her. The camera then panned around, showing the decorations and the gorgeous wedding cake. When it returned back to the couple, they each said their vows, which they'd written themselves. "I promise to be the best husband and father I can be to Reed and the many children who come," said J.T. "I feel like a man who's been given the greatest gift in the world." "I will cherish every gift that you've given me," she replied in her vows.
"When I was a little girl, I dreamed about wearing a dress like this and marrying the man I loved, but you are a far greater man than I ever could've imagined." Awww! They were then pronounced man and wife. After, at the reception, J.T. promised Victor that he'd take good care of his daughter.
Meanwhile, Nikki fought back tears of happiness as she reveled in sharing the moment with her daughter. David and Nikki raised a champagne toast to the happy couple.

During the reception, Nikki and David wondered why Victor seemed to be rather grumpy. David concluded that by seeing Victoria so happy with her marriage, Victor was realizing what he was now missing. Kay also noticed how lost Victor seemed, but Nikki had little sympathy for her ex. Paul congratulated J.T. on the wedding and for becoming head of security at Newman Enterprises. Sharon stopped by to pick up Noah, but Nick encouraged her to say hello to Victoria. Sharon did, and the newlyweds invited her to stay, but she turned them down. Sharon and Brad had an awkward encounter on her way out. Kay joined Victor outside and wondered why he was standing there all alone. "There's something terribly wrong and I want you to tell me what it is," she demanded. Victor revealed that Hope was dying from cancer. Kay was devastated. Victor admitted that he doesn't know where Victor Jr. is. Inside, Victoria and J.T. cut the cake and were disappointed that Victor wasn't there. Paul and Brad chatted about the Ji Min case. Brad believed that Jack was guilty of killing him. Later, Victor informed Victoria that he's going away for awhile, but wouldn't say where. He urged her to get stronger and enjoy being with J.T. She hugged him and thanked him for the wedding. Before the wedding ended, Victoria tossed the bouquet and Nikki caught it. Kay stated that it was a wedding she'd never forget. J.T. carried Victoria out of the reception room. Nikki and David kissed and Victor sadly looked on. Once they were home, Victoria changed into a simple white slip dress. "I don't want to ever sleep again," she whispered to her new hubby. He again picked her up and gently carried her over to the bed.

Amber served Daniel her "famous" punch, as they prepared for their party.
Amber was determined to have fun, no matter what. Soon, Kevin and Jana, and their friends Lindsay and Mitch arrived, while Amber changed. She emerged wearing one of her own designs. Heather then stopped by. The guests were surprised when Amber brought out her karaoke machine. Later, Adrian and Colleen arrived. Amber became uncomfortable when she noticed all the happy couples snuggling together and interrupted them by turning on the karaoke machine. First Colleen sang...really, really badly, and was booed off the stage. Ouch! Amber invited Heather up; she refused, but then everyone started chanting Heather's name. Heather became angry as Amber pulled her up to the microphone. After, Heather retreated to the kitchen, where she was joined by Adrian. Both admitted feeling like they didn't fit in. Colleen complained to Jana and Kevin that her beau was being uptight. Jana enjoyed some karaoke, but Kevin suggested he get her singing lessons as a wedding gift. Heather planned to leave, but decided to stay when she eyed Adrian and Colleen sitting closely together. Amber then sang and, of course, sounded great. Daniel was blown away by her performance. Heather took this as her cue to leave. Later after everyone left, a blitzed Amber asked Daniel if he'd really liked her song. "You were awesome; you were hot!" he declared. She then insisted that he sing and pulled him up off the couch. They began kissing, but Daniel stopped her. "This is a bad idea," he said, but resumed kissing her and removing her clothes.

EOE: Victor watched David and Nikki kiss for a moment, then went back outside. Shaking his head sadly, he walked away in the cold, dark night.
