Young and Restless Recaps
Y&R Week of December 24, 2007
Monday
Nikki, David and J.T. spent Christmas Eve watching over baby Reed in the NICU, while Adrian and Colleen went to visit Victoria at the ranch and deliver her gift, which was one of her favorite novels. Victor was touched to see it was one of his fave books, too, but once he hit the hospital, things quickly turned Grinchy. Nikki sniffed that Victor was looking awfully happy for someone facing multiple lawsuits, so Victor countered that she looked surprisingly happy herself, considering she'd just lost her business and all her money. Double ouch!
Jack was thrilled when Sharon agreed to wait to drop the divorce bomb on Noah until after the holidays, but crushed to not spend the holiday with her. She spent a cozy Christmas Eve with Lily, Devon, Neil and Karen, and announced she'd donated money in Dru's name to a foster organization. Jack, hoping to see her, joined Noah, Daniel, Phyllis, Nick, Lauren, Fen and Summer, but being with the family was too hard, so he made an excuse to leave the party. Lauren was crushed when Michael called to say he wasn't even going to make the party, as bad weather had him grounded in St. Louis, but later a surprise visitor perked her up — it was Santa Baldwin at the door!
Amber told Daniel she was hoping Kay would ask her over for Christmas, since they'd become friends, but she wasn't there when Cane, Esther, Kay and Jill shared dinner at the GCAC. The quartet was happy to be celebrating Cane's birthday and Christmas as a family.
After initially shooting Paul's invite down, Heather decided to join her father and Maggie at the GCAC for dinner. Paul was thrilled, especially when she agreed to join them at Midnight Mass too.

Merry Christmas! Y&R is pre-empted today.
Wednesday
Jack surprised Sharon with a romantic dinner, where every dish was a form of apology, but she wouldn't take a seat at the table. She was "disillusioned" and insisted repairing their relationship was "not as easy" as Jack pretended. He corrected he was "hoping" not "pretending", so she joined him. He was overly buoyant as he talked of his New Year's resolutions to go green and "be the man you want me to be." The more he talked of how he could get there (with her help) and how far he'd strayed, the less comfortable she became and finally, she walked out, leaving him to eat his humble pie alone.
Phyllis tried to get Nick out of his funk, but he was too upset about his father. "It's like he's on this crazy path of vengeance, set out to destroy my mother," he grumbled, so Phyllis went to pick up comfort food and movies for a night in. While at the GCAC, she ran into Sharon, who was meeting Brad. Sharon worried about what it looked like, but eventually opened up to Brad about her confusion over Jack. After Brad said, "You serve Noah best by doing what's right for you," she agreed she had to "end" her marriage now. Jack, meanwhile, got a beer and some good advice from Nick, who warned, "Don't back her into a corner. She's just going to look for a way to run." Jack worried she already had, but lucky for him she returned to overhear him parenting Noah, who'd become impatient with a model plane they were working on. The scene brought Sharon to tears, which cued Noah that something was up. As Jack carried sleeping Noah to bed later, he told Sharon, "You do what you need to do. For you and Noah," and promised her that space Nick had recommended.
At Crimson Lights, Daniel used his new Christmas camera to get a smile out of Amber. She got into the spirit, but then fell off a table when she caught Cane watching her modeling session. She nervously took his order, gave it to him on the house and asked about his holiday. When she tried to make small talk about New Year's, "the worst date night of the year," Cane begged out of the conversation to get work done. Daniel showed Amber a photo of her mooning up at Cane, who wasn't even looking at her. "That's a face of a guy who is just not that into you," Daniel apologized, but that didn't stop her from chattering to Cane about her Web site and then sitting down with him even though he never looked up from his papers. Cane jumped up and again excused himself, so Daniel tried again to reason with her, insisting she didn't love Cane but was instead "scared of being alone." He wanted her to wait for the right person, so she sent him away and locked the doors for the night. Alone, she pulled out her video camera equipment and her Marina costume to work on her Jabot submission tape. Daniel returned and when she wouldn't answer the door, he watched from outside.
When Victor and Nikki crossed paths at the ranch, neither acknowledged the other. Later, Victor met with Paul about the evidence linking him to Ji Min's murder. He insisted Jack was setting him up and tasked Paul with proving it, but Paul warned, "I would just let the police do their job." Annoyed, Victor sent him packing, so he went to Maggie and told her about Victor's request. When he doubted Victor was capable of murder, she shrugged she was following the evidence and sighed, "Please tell me you didn't take Victor up on his offer." Later, Heather joined them and Paul apologized for how "awkward" their holiday together was. He was sure one day she'd understand why he hadn't claimed her earlier, but she was having trouble letting go of her anger.
When Victor was served with Nikki, Jack and Katherine's lawsuit, he threw the papers on the floor and stormed over to see Nikki. She had finally broken down over Victoria and David begged her to let it out, but his comfort was interrupted by Victor's entrance. He barged in, calling her suit "vindictive madness," and when David answered him, he threw furniture and told him to stay out of it. Nikki screamed right back at Victor, ordering him to ease up on her loan or deal with it, so he fumed, "You want to play me at my own game? You fasten your seatbelt." He stormed back to the main house to drink over an old photo of Nikki, while Sharon cried over the plane Noah and Jack built, Heather turned away instead of joining gloomy Paul at the bar and Phyllis and Nick did it on the couch. As the tears came to Victor's eyes, he threw the photo to the ground, shattering the glass. Meanwhile, David told Nikki not to worry about Victor's threats. He gave her a pep talk and revealed, "I have put a plan in motion, Nikki. A plan that's going to take care of all of these money problems [and] give you the future that you deserve." Then he proposed to her!
Thursday
Victor replayed his fight with Nikki until Neil showed up and pushed him to explain why the rush to call in the loan. Victor didn't answer, instead instructing Neil to research for a countersuit. Neil rushed out to beat the snowstorm, crossing paths with JT at the door. After he gave Victor an update on Reed's improvement, Victor praised JT. He was thrilled his daughter had found someone she can trust, because that wasn't easy. Cut to Nikki, who told David she was up all night. He hoped it wasn't over his proposal and apologized for his timing, but Nikki just smiled and said, "Victor's reaction to the lawsuit was beyond my imagination." She was touched by David's support, but didn't "have clarity" to make marriage decisions, considering Victoria's condition. David understood and promised to "stay in her corner," so she warned Victor was going to be big trouble. Later, Nikki filled Katherine in on Victor's blowup, admitting, "I can't help but feeling a little sorry for him. I mean, lashing out is the only way he knows how to respond." Katherine countered that his "volatility" was his "Achilles heel," and Nikki admitted between Victor and Victoria, she was overwhelmed and frustrated. She also told Katherine that David had proposed, but focusing on their case was more important than considering his offer. "You're happiness is what counts," Katherine insisted.
Jeff caught Gloria at the GCAC and announced New Year's was the time to go public with their engagement. She insisted no one would buy it yet, but he shrugged, "Putting it off means you go to jail. Your choice." Then he scripted their big proposal night and chided, "This doesn't have to be a painful experience. I'm really a hell of a nice guy when you get to know me." Jill interrupted, giving Gloria an out. With Gloria gone, Jeff offered to buy Jill lunch. He did some digging and laid a few hints about the proposal. Then Jill offered, "I would stay as far away from Miss Gloria as possible." He appreciated the advice, but wasn't taking it. Back at Baldwin's pad, Michael was grilling Kev about what their mother was up to with Jeff. Kevin played dumb, but Michael sniffed, "You know all of it." After guessing it was blackmail, he read Kevin's response and hooted over being right. That's when Gloria walked in and ignored Michael's questions by talking about the coming snowstorm. When she told him to accept he was wrong about Jeff, he wasn't convinced, but had to table the conversation to go meet Victor. Gloria called after him about coming to her "lavish, elegant New Year's Eve bash." Then she and Kevin brainstormed. She suggested they liquidate her money and hide it in diamonds and offshore accounts, but he decided to dig up dirt on Jeff instead. When Michael got home, he railed at Gloria, demanding, "Didn't you learn anything from Tom? Once you give into blackmail, it doesn't stop." She pushed him off to go shopping — for a gigantic yellow diamond! She showed up at Crimson Lights with the pendent around her neck and raved to Kev, "By this time next week, William's fortune will be so liquid we can drink it." None the wiser, William spotted a news story about Gloria getting John's inheritance and ordered Champagne to toast his good fortune.
Victor ordered Michael to look into the Ji Min investigation and get the cops to stop looking at him. Michael agreed, marveling, "You certainly are being hit from all sides, aren't you?" He suggested Victor settle with Nikki, Kay and Jack, insisting he not make it personal, but Victor again pointed his finger at Nikki for doing that and refused. Then, while Nikki was in the ladies' room, Victor, Katherine and David started sparring. Nikki caught the tail end of it and once she stopped shaking, Katherine asked her if she was in love with David. "Did you notice how Victor won't even look at me?" was Nikki's response, so Kay pushed for an answer on David and Nikki said, "David makes me happy. And that has to count for something, doesn't it? He's — he's pleasant, he's supportive, he's right there for me all the time...It's not like Victor, who's always fuming and angry."
Victor returned home to find JT "keeping vigil" with Victoria and invited him to crash at the mansion whenever he wanted. He called him family and JT returned in kind, offering any support, so Victor asked him to investigate "shady" David. David, meanwhile, was on a call trying to set up a meeting about "this new project I'm hoping to launch with Nikki Newman." Then he got a call that put him on the defensive. He refused to meet with the unheard caller because he didn't "yet have the money" and promised, "When the money starts flowing in, you will be the first in line." There must have been a threat from the caller, because David growled, "It's not going to come to that, all right? I promise you. You're not going to have to do that! I'll get it to you when I can, damn it!" He hung up just before Nikki walked in. When he asked how her lunch was, she cooed that her chat with Katherine had revealed, "I'm falling in love with you."
Friday
Nick ran into his dad after a visit with Victoria and talk quickly turned to the big lawsuit. When Victor questioned why his son kept taking Nikki's side, Nick said, "Everything you're doing lately I think is wrong." He begged him to reconsider the loan and make "forgiveness" his New Year's resolution, but Victor insisted Nikki's actions "are beyond what I can justify." Then he sat with Victoria, admitting his instinct to fight caused personal problems sometimes and telling her he and Nikki had "reached an impasse." Meanwhile, Nikki ran into Phyllis, who shared her concern over Nick and Victor. Nikki sighed that Victor's MO was to force people to choose sides and create division, but she was surprised to hear how bad it was getting. Phyllis worried the family would continue to splinter and told Nikki to try to salvage things. When Nikki got to the manse, she said "hello" to Victor, but he ignored her, so she talked to his back, begging, "For the sake of our family, please, let's try to find a common ground." He stayed calm, but committed to blaming her, he said, "You're living in a fantasy if you think there's anything left between us." She felt the blame game was a terribly sad way to end their story and he wished they could go back in time. She wished him peace, said goodbye and opened the door to go to Sharon's, but he wouldn't let her walk into the storm.
While Kevin researched ways to spend Gloria's money, Gloria got a call revealing the letter from John had been authenticated. She rushed over to Jack's manse, where things were tense between him and Sharon. "Last night of the year. And my last night in this house," Sharon sighed as she watched the snow fall. When Jack begged for "one last night together as a family," she agreed, even cracking a smile, but that was interrupted when Gloria sashayed in with her news. Jack pushed her out the door as she threw insults, concluding, "He always ends up alone, Sharon. Take my advice: you get out while you can, because he breaks everything he touches." Intent on stopping Gloria, Jack immediately called his lawyer over, but his advice was to pay Gloria now. When Jack balked, Sharon asked, "Can't you just respect what your father wanted?" Jack saw the lawyer out and pled his case to Sharon again. She angrily suggested he give Gloria her due. "Stop making justifications for hurting people," she admonished. Later, with her attitude back, she got her coat and fumed, "Noah and I are moving out of here tomorrow. I have to go and make some arrangements for that." Having overheard, Noah called his father and Phyllis, but no one answered, so he bundled up and walked into the storm. Nick came home to find him shivering at the door. Noah revealed he knew what was up with his mother and Jack, and opened up about how hard it was not being able to help. Nick admitted he was in the same situation with his parents, sharing, "I just have to remember that my parents love me, no matter what's going on. And it's the same thing for you."
Karen helped Neil audition a prospective new singer for Indigo, who turned out to be "fine but not great." Karen said she'd "phoned it in," and then gave a sample of what it should have sounded like. Neil was wowed by her voice, but she couldn't hear the compliments. Later, Neil caught Karen playing piano and singing beautifully. He tried to convince her to take the job, but she got a reprieve when Sharon showed up wanting to discuss her concerns about how her separation would affect Noah. Nick's call about Noah proved her concerns valid. Before she left to pick Noah up, Neil admitted, "I happen to like you and Jack together a lot." Then Jack called in a panic looking for Noah. After she caught him up, she braved the drive to Nick's. When Nick asked if she was leaving Jack, Noah walked in and challenged her to be honest, so they talked it out. Then Nick told her Jack loved her and she admitted she'd been devastated at the thought of losing him during the Clear Springs disaster, but sighed that with all the lies, "this marriage has just become...exhausting." Phyllis called to let Nick know her car was stuck at the GCAC and that the mayor had declared a state of emergency, so Sharon and Noah should decided to stay put too. Jack called to tell her he'd be there, "waiting for you both." Then he called for his dad, but Ashley showed up at the door instead.
