Hi, I'm Joe Diliberto, WEEKLY's new General Hospital editor. I've been with WEEKLY for many years, including a short stint as All My Children editor a while back. I have also reported on As the World Turns and Guiding Light, so you may spot me lurking in many neighborhoods on these boards.

I look forward to reading your thoughts on the show

Welcome! I am a newly registered fan myself but have been a soap viewer for far too many years. Currently watching GH, DOOL and OLTL. Past favs have included Dark Shadows, Edge of Night, The City (when Angie and Tracy Q where there), Ryan's Hope and Capital. But at one time or another I have watched darned near all of them.Anyway, welcome to the world of GH!!

Thanks, malernandfan. Dark Shadows, eh? Considering all the fantasy elements in prime time, maybe it's time for another gothic soap...

I have been a GH fan since Scotty and Laura. I am so upset by all the violence on GH. I usually don't say anything but if what they are showing is true and that they may be killing Michael I am done. They can't do that. Why not send him off to school if they can't write for him or do they just want Sonny and Carly to go through more pain. I know the acting will be amazing but the loss is too much. We need a happy story not death. Emily, Georgie was enough for me, than they had to kill Carly's unborn child. I guess this will make Sonny give up the mob? Please. Enough already. I love Sonny but please end the pain.

I know! We're terribly sorry about that. It took us a few weeks to work out the kinks and test drive the board software, etc. We really appreciate everyone putting up with us during the installation and then continuing to stick around!

Have to say I'm not very happy with the current direction that GH is taking with the mob and all the violence. What's happened to love in the afternoon. Where is the romance? Where are the couples enjoying time with each other? Where are the love triangles with conniving parties, confused parties, miscommunications between lovers? I for one am really ready for a change from the mob heavy stories. Surely the writers can come up with more storylines that don't involve Sonny or another woman coming and falling for him and ending up pregnant. More hospital scenes, more ELQ business (without Jax taking over another company), more of Kate's magazine storyline - get her away from Sonny. And can I add...please GH clean up Claudia Zacara. A skanky mob mole is a waste of this actresses acting chops. You bring her back and then stick her in a Carly wannabe story with Sonny and Jason? How are we suppose to accept her?? Sorry for the rant, but I've been watching this soap for years and if it wasn't for Jason and Elizabeth and Patrick and Robin, I'd be done with this soap and onto another show.

yo joe,as a person who has watched gh since 1968 i must say i am so bored with robin/patrick whining, carly conniving on a new ridiculous plain, it's an invisible plot that kate howard will be exposed as jenny from the block. give us a break. we think. also, evidently something semi-catastrophic will happen to robin in pregnancy or child birth, patrick will be there and they will ride off into the sunset. someone please come up with an original plot and don't even get me started about one life to live.....................

Hi Joe,I saw that BGJ will be answering questions about Brenda and such in the new SOD. Just curious, when will GH answer all of the fan concerns throughout this forum that state we miss the GH of the 90's that had a balance of mob, love, vets and hospital action instead of today's mob oriented and partick/robin hospital action, while vets such as the Quartermaines are killed or not on the canvas? Thanks

Personally, I thought the 80's were better than the 90's. Although killing off most of the Q's is indeed distressing. Moxie

And therein lies the rub: Some people prefer the '80s, while some fondly remember the '90s... Lots of people have different ideas about what, precisely, constituted "the good ol' days," so returning there is a judgment call. But I think we can all agree that we prefer a time when the Q's weren't being killed off.

I have only been watching GH for the last two years but even I see how important the Q's are, and killing them off and keeping them off screen is a terrible mistake. Edward on the jury is priceless. Thank goodness they found a way to bring some of the Q's into the story, though it should have been a no-brainer since they are Lulu's second family...

It would be more like Edward, to ORDER a pizza, and have it sent to himself in the jury box at the court house, right in the middle of the trial. Imagine a pizza delivery person walking into the courtroom during the trial and sellling Edward a pizza, and him telling the court to hold it a second while he gets his order !

Didn't mean to be nasty but just didn't feel it was appropriate subject matter for these forms. I am really not a prude just in reading the grounds rules as you might say felt this was inappropriate.Another time or place perhaps.

Hi Joe! I grew up watching ABC's daytime shows: AMC, OLTL, and GH. GH is the only one that's stuck at this point. I am not sure what draws me to the show exactly. They seem to pick one storyline and keep it, ad-nauseam. I have a question. They've done a LOT of killing off of characters this year. (The only one I really, truly am glad about is the death of the sickeningly-sweet Emily. ) I hope this character-killing does not continue. They've been writing in kid characters for years and we have seen Robin grow up on the show, but I see her as the exception instead of the rule. I don't read SOD and am bright and shiny new here. So, perhaps the answer is out there somewhere. Forgive me for asking: Why have so many young actors been killed off the show? Diego, Sage, Georgie, Dylan, etc. (Not to mention the regs such as Emily, Alan, Lorenzo Alcazar, etc.) It seems like there's a high turnover. What's going on? Are they leaving or are they given their marching orders?

Are they leaving or are they given their marching orders? Well, the-powers-that-be would tell you that the killings/departures are storyline-dictated. And I'm sure there are conspiracy-minded folks out there somewhere who see a vendetta against (insert cause here). But the truth is, while there are all sorts of reasons for characters being removed from the canvas (including actors who want to leave), it's really about TPTB trying to tell interesting, compelling stories. It may not always work, but they're trying to do the best they can with what they have to work with. Port Charles has been established as a dangerous town controlled by gangsters, and when you add in the usual soap tropes like serial killers, PC has a higher body count than might seem usual. So the death toll can, I guess, be boiled down to: "It seemed like a good idea at the time."And welcome to the boards. You won't be bored...
