Heather Tom (Katie, B&B) answers Digest’s five burning questions!

What’s your best potluck dish?

“An heirloom tomato Caprese salad, which is very simple, with basil and feta and a light balsamic reduction. It’s always a huge hit. Or, ratatouille, because it’s easy.”

If you entered the Witness Protection Program and had to start over, what would you be?

“It may sound crazy, but a park ranger. It’s a little solitary, but you get to wake up every morning in the beautiful wilderness and when the park is full, you’re meeting people from all over.”

What was the last thing you did on a date night?

“We’re a member of a club that has date night once a month, which is awesome! You go as a family, and the adults go to a room where they play music and we all have dinner, and they have a place for the kids where they watch movies and do crafts and things like that. It’s really nice.”

 What makes you feel young?

“My son [Zane Achor, Will]. Because of him, I have permission to do all these things I wouldn’t normally do, like roll down a grassy hill or do a handstand in the pool. He makes me feel like I have a pass to redo all that stuff.”

 What’s something you’re a geek about?

“I label everything.”
