Steffing to It!

Steffy has become Bill’s confidante in the wake of Amber’s big fall on BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL, but she’s angling to become more than that! Jacqueline MacInnes Wood dishes her character “going for it.”Soap Opera Weekly: Steffy’s really setting her sights on Bill. She’s stopped being coy with everybody about who she likes!

Jacqueline MacInnes Wood: She’s like, “I’m going to do it! I’m crazy about him and I’m going for it.”

Weekly: It’s funny, because her justification to Taylor and Brooke seems to be the idea that a happy man can’t be stolen. “If he and Katie are truly happy, there’s nothing to worry about.”

Wood: I know. That’s the thing! Before, when she was in Paris, she had all these sleepless nights of, “Oh, my gosh, I’m crazy about this man. I really need to go back. I really need to do something about it.” And she had that thought of, “I’m going to go for it, and I’m going to see what happens. If it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out, but I need to just say this [to him], because I don’t want to live with regret.” And lo and behold, she comes home and all of these things drop into her lap: It’s the same old story with Katie and Bill and their issues, and then everything that happened with Amber and the house…Bill cannot talk to his wife about it!

Weekly: So you think Steffy and Bill are kindred spirits, and he can share this Amber stuff with her when he can’t with Katie?

Wood: Steffy is not just “like” Bill; they are the exact same person. They want the same things — their needs, their desires, their wants, everything! And they have this hard exterior, but they’re so soft and loyal on the inside, and they would do anything to protect their families. And she has this idea in her brain of, “If no one is accepting him for that, I’m going to accept him.”

Weekly: But she’s not condoning him trying to off Amber, of course. We’ve seen that already!

Wood: She’s going to obviously tell him how she feels and say, “Hey, it’s wrong; you can’t think this way.” Steffy can relate, Steffy has been there, but you can’t just try to kill somebody and expect everything to be okay! And Steffy’s at that point where she doesn’t want to get him in trouble. She doesn’t want him to get caught, because then he might end up going to jail. She doesn’t want Bill taken away from her.
