Gregory Michael: I came to New York obviously for opportunity. But before I was in New York City, I lived in Orlando and I worked at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. At Universal, I did a Ghostbusters boy band show. I sang and danced and did improv acting. We did about four shows a day. It was a lot of fun. Digest: A Ghostbusters boy band show?
Michael: (laughing) I played a “Ghostbuster” and during the show we got possessed by a boy band, and we sang and danced — it’s a comedy show. We sang anything from Shania Twain, Britney Spears, ‘N Sync, Backstreet Boys, Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch…. I did that for almost a whole year. I did pretty much the same thing at Disney, but it was the Magic Kingdom Castle Show in front of Cinderella’s castle. We did six shows a day, and it showcased all of the VIP characters. Digest: Who did you play?
Michael: My main character was Goofy, but I also danced as myself.Digest: You hear nightmares about the costumes.
Michael: It wasn’t so bad. It does get hot in the Florida weather. But it was a lifelong dream of mine to work at Disney. It’s all kind of going the way I hoped and dreamed it would.Digest: How did you get the job at ATWT?
Michael: This was one of my first auditions here in New York City. It was actually an audition for just a small character, supporting the Madison character. Clark was not supposed to be who he is right now. I guess the powers-that-be liked the character and wrote a storyline. I’m really excited about it. It’s been six months more than two days, so I’m really happy that it’s expanded this far and I’m glad that the character is so developed. There will be a lot to see from Clark in the upcoming weeks.Digest: How are they treating you?
Michael: It’s a family; it really is. Everywhere you walk in the studio, everyone is super nice. You’re in very close quarters, so they all know who you are and if you have a problem, it’s not hard to ask for help. I couldn’t ask for a better coworker team. It’s awesome.
