I love Spinelli. I do. He brings a breath of fresh air & yes, romance to this very dark show & he & Maxie are adorable together. But, like Wile E. Coyote, he needs an anvil dropped on his head! He is completely clueless. Even more clueless than Sonny. He asks people for advice & promptly ignores what they tell him because it isn't what he wants to hear. He even ignores Maxie, his beloved soulmate. I realize he's been in a bubble for most of his life, but he's been out of that bubble for a couple of years already. Surely by now, he knows when someone is deliberately avoiding giving him an answer. He's also been around Maxie long enough to know when she's trying to spare his feelings. Now, he's going to Mac to ask for her hand in marriage? He knows Mac can't stand him. Does he really expect Mac to say yes? Ordinarily, his cluelessness is cute & charming in it's own way, but this story is turning cute & charming into irritating. They are setting him up for a crushing letdown when she pulls an Alexis & runs out of the church & flags down a semi to escape. This is not fair to the fans of Spinelli or Spixie.
To him love + sex = marriage
Maxie doesn't want to cheat on him either, but she's afraid of doing just that. Plus, every marriage in her immediate family has ended in divorce. Her parents divorced when she & Georgie were little, Felicia & Mac were only married a short time, Bobbie & Tony. Even soulmates Georgie & Dillon divorced within a year of marriage. She figures if none of them, who were more intelligent & worldly than her, could make it work, that she shouldn't even try.My main issue is his singlemindedness. He's becoming irritating. There is a very serious situation going on with people he claims to love. Michael's confessed to something he didn't do, then jumped bail. He's playing around like a love struck twelve year old girl when he should be doing the work Jason asked him to do. He asks Diane's advice, then ignores it because it's not what he wants to hear. Then, he goes to Mac, when he knows the guy can't stand him & is extremely busy trying to solve 2 major cases, to ask for Maxie's hand in marriage? See Mac's brain explode right after that roundabout, longwinded question is asked. Then, there's his tinkering with Jason's truck, without Jason's permission. Then, Jason nearly bursts a blood vessel when Spinelli is more interested in making Mac into a vegetable than explaining how to undo the crap he did to Jason's truck. Then, Jason figured out Spinelli didn't know how to undo what he did to the vehicle. If I were Spinelli, I'd be packing my bags & looking for a new place to live, because I would not want to be there when Jason got home. If Jason wasn't so easygoing, he'd kill that kid for touching his vehicle. I hope he doesn't try it with one of Sonny's cars. The bottom line is they've gone a little beyond cute. Spinelli needs to get his priorities straight or the people who love him will gang up on him & strangle him in his sleep.
Oh my. I have missed a lot, ( working new 2nd job ) I missed this whole truck thing. It sounds like they are turning him stupid. I wish they wouldn't do that to him. give the boy a romance, but don't take away his coolness of working for Jason
I was pretty irritated watching that because he's made so much progress over the last year & I really hate to see them backsliding with him. They have to watch with a character like him. If they overdo it, then it could alienate viewers who have grown to love his little eccentricities. Take this story on a slower pace. Let their actual romance blossom a little before they stick them in a marriage that the writers will only wreck within a few months to a year anyway. New hunky guys are always popping into PC & as much as Maxie adores Spinelli, she's still an explorer & there are some mountains she just can't resist climbing no matter how much she loves her Jackal.
Spinellis is breaking my heart right now. Why are the writers making him into a dope about this marriage stuff. I mean Maxie has told him on several occasions that she is not interested in marriage and why. Are tehy trying to make it so that Spinelli thinks he is the one to change maxie's mind? She is committed to him, that should be good enough right now. If he had been smart he would have given her a "promise" type ring saying that they promise to be loyal to each other. Kind of an informal committment ceremony or something. Seriously, poor Spinelli is going to push Maxie away. My husband, who NEVER watches this show happened to walk in and caught some of the Spinelli maxie stuff he even said "That guy is going to push that chick away if he's not careful". So see, even my hubby sees it and he hates this show. I also think SPinelli hasd more class than going down to PCPD where Mac works while there are two huge cases happening to ask for Maxie's hand in marriage. If he was the Spinelli I thought he was, he would have had Mac over for dinner or asked him to meet at a resturant. NOT at his place of employment. That is just dumb. I get more and more frustrated with teh writers everyday. I did see something that mentioned the possibility of GH being cancelled. Hmm, wonder why??
Spinelli going down to PCPD was not about being classless. It was more like cluelessness. He's in Never Never Land & he's like that with most things. How many times has Jason told him not to touch his stuff? He's constantly either playing with Jason's guns or as he's doing now, messing with his truck. As for the possibility of him being the one to change her mind, I would think if anyone could change her mind just by loving her, it would've already happened when she was with Jesse or when she was with Coop. Both men adored her & wanted a life with her, but whenever the subject of marriage came up, she deflected. And it wasn't about her not loving them, because she most certainly did. He is simply hearing what he wants to & ignoring the rest, which is why he gets into situations that hurt him. Because he does this all the time. Lets not forget that it was only 2 years ago that he felt the same undying perfect love for "the original blonde one," Lulu & she ended up hurting him by not living up to his fantasies, too.
The writers really should slack up on making him so clueless. The character has good potential but this whole Maxie thing is getting tiresome.
For me it's becoming to painful to watch. I really like that boy but the things they are doing to him is killing the character..if they keep it up I would be fine with him moving back to his grannys in Tennessee....btw. Just a question ....as a fellow Tennessean, Spin sure doesn't talk like one, so why make him from here (TN) ?
Come on now mygoodness; you know computer geeks only have computer accents no matter what state they are from.
Hey y'all , we have plenty of computer hill billy geeks here. I'm trying to imaging him talking in his special language with a county/southern drawl... Oh my that was too funny even if only I can get it. bless his heart
Spinelli is starting to get annoying again. Even he should see that Maxie is dancing around the actual wedding date. This can only end badly. As for living with Jason, that was a bit over the top. If he feels the need to be so close, why doesn't he just move across the hall to the other penthouse? It hasn't been used in a long time. The interaction of guests visiting the two penthouses and riding in the elevator together could be amusing.
Yes. Especially since I suspect Jason owns that building anyway.
Yes, but that would make sense. We wouldn't be treated to his endless laments about his "regrettably pink room" or to the inevitable "oops" scene of Maxie accidently walking in on Jason in the buff or vice versa, followed by one or both of them fantasizing about the other. That's bound to happen sooner or later & then, Spinelli will really have something to feel inadequate about.Spinelli is far too immature to be married to anyone. I think he may even be too immature for a serious relationship & this idea about them living with Jason forever proves it. I also don't know how many caught this but it was something else that I have to mention. When Kate was rattling off plans for Maxie's wedding, saying she'd plan it & pick her dress, etc., he spoke up & told Kate that Maxie would plan her own wedding & pick her own dress out. Then, he proceeded to do exactly the same thing as Kate, wanting to have a wedding from the dark ages & make Maxie wear a crown of herbs instead of a veil. Not to take anything away from his romantic spirit, but if he's really as intelligent & well read as we're supposed to believe, then he knows the real reason they wore crowns of herbs was far less romantic. It was because they only took baths maybe once a month & there was no such thing as deodorant. The aromatic herbs were used to cut down the offensiveness of body odor. That boy needs to come down to earth. I hate to say it, but he needs Maxie to get sick of this & blow up at him. She couldn't be more obvious about not wanting to get married & he's ignoring her. For all his sensitivity, he's being very insensitive.
A blind man and his deaf friend can tell Maxie doesn't want to marry Spinelli. How come he can't see it.
Because he's naive beyond belief. His extreme naivete was believable the first year he was on. But, by now, he would have caught on to the subtle signals people send. Especially her. If he loves her so much, he'd understand her enough to pick up on these signs. I think the writers have gone way overboard with the way he acts. This is probably going to sound mean to alot of other fans of him, but he acts way beyond too "girly" for a twenty-something that works for a hit man. Even being a sheltered geek living inside his computer, he's interacted with others via his computer. He's also always studying. For someone who's as self-aware as he is, I find it difficult to believe a man of his intelligence who wants to fit in with the real world, wouldn't have at least opened a psychology textbook & tried to understand verbal & nonverbal communication skills. The writers need to take a step back & re-evaluate what they're doing with this character. There's no reason they can't keep the cockeyed optimist, without the preteen girl behavior. If they keep this up, those of us who enjoy this oddly endearing character will soon be joining the ranks of those who find him irritating & unnecessary.

I agree with you but also I wonder why he is in such a hurry. What would be wrong with leaving things like they are for right now? They are in a good place, there is plenty of time for marrage later. If he keeps pushing he'll push her away, he knows how she feels about marrage, it's not like her opinion and fears of it will change overnight.
