Let me preface what I'm going to say with this statement . I believe SOD has a great deal of integrity and that the publication's articles are well written and unbiased, but in this instance I find the publication's silence unsettling.
The character of Annie is one of the most loathsome, despicable characters ever to reside in Pine Valley. The expiration date of her presence has long since gone by, yet here she stays! What she is doing to a seven year old child(yes I know it's only a story), and what she is doing to an innocent woman, that she is being allowed to get away with cold blooded murder, attempted murder, and obstruction of justice is irresponsible writing! I see the color red of such intensity whenever her smirking face appears on screen. I thought I could not despise a character more than Bianca when she had Zach's baby, but Pratt has outdone himself,I do! He has created a vicious, despicable monster that doesn't deserve the airtime.
I know there have been other characters on AMC in the past that have been evil, Billie Clyde Tuggle, Alex Cambias Sr. Michael Cambias but there was some satisfaction and solace in knowing that eventually these characters were going to be brought to justice and get what they deserved for their crimes. But that is not the case here. It Is quite apparent that this loathsome character is going to continue on.
What disturbs me is that in the November 10th issue of your publication there is yet another interview with the character's portrayer allowing her to justify the character's behavior with no rebuttal. There is no justification for child abuse, and cold blooded murder. I have no problem with allowing this interview, but that there was no counterpoint to the crimes this character committed and no standing up for the victims of those crimes and no editorial about the irresponsible writing. That Annie is doing what she is doing to protect Adam does not justify her behavior or exonerate her from murder or child abuse or make her a likable psycho like Janet Green. That is how the actress sounded in your interview.
After Thorsten Kaye and Alicia Minshew are gone from AMC, so will I be gone. I have watched since 1978, I was 8, and I am sad not to watch, but I cannot continue to watch if AMC is going to continue to showcase this hideous character and be allowed to continue to flaunt the law. While I expect some dramatic license with the law and medical issues this is just irresponsible and I wonder why your publication hasn't addressed it. I am very disappointed that you haven't and have just allowed the articles to stand.
If AMC wants loyal viewers to follow it to LA, they need to show some respect to the law and its fans. I'm sad your publication hasn't taken a stand on the irresponsibility and flagrant disregard for the law this writer has shown by trying to justify capital crimes.
