Okay, I saw this question posted on several other boards and thought I bring it here too see what posters here think...
The person who posted this ask a great question and got an overwhelming number of responses that were 100% in agreement...
What do you all think....I also think that this would be a great question for SOD/SOW to ask, not only the people who buy SOD/SOW, but TPTB at ABC/AMC......
Also, if you want to add something to this, feel free....Let your feelings be known loud & clear:::::
(I reworded some of this, but credit for this should go to collie from SOC)
Was It Worth It...
In the aftermath of AMC's so-called "ground-breaking lesbian love story" and the first-ever lesbian marriage on daytime, that we saw yesterday, I want to take Kendall's question to Zach about Gabrielle's conception-- Was It Worth It... and ask the same question of Pratt, AMC and even ABC, and also the fans.
ABC put a lot of effort behind the PR blitz about their lesbian love story and marriage. Was It Worth It They clearly wanted everyone to know about it. Pratt has spent the last three months pushing first Babygate and then this marriage. Now that Bianca and Reese are married (for who knows how long, a day, two??), was all of the destruction to other elements of the show worth it?
Here's my list of things Pratt and AMC have accomplished.
* Character integrity trashed: Was it worth it?
* Show history trashed: Was it worth it?
* Bianca trashed: Was it worth it?
* Kinks' relationship destroyed: Was it worth it?
* Zach trashed: Was it worth it?
* Zendall trashed: Was it worth it?
* Credibility of the show's executives trashed: Was it worth it?
* Your audience's faith and trust in the writing and in the show gone: Was it worth it?
* The loss of credibility on the part of the headwriter and exec producer, after so many nonsensical comments about groundbreaking stories and the audience rewriting what they're actually presenting to us, is the biggest loss. If Pratt and Carruthers tried to stop the damage and decided to give a press conference in prime time to explain AMC to us dimbulb viewers, I wouldn't believe a word out of their mouths.
* The integrity and credibility of ER & TB coming into question....Was it worth it...
My answer to this is NO, it wasn't worth it.....not by a long shot...
What do you think.....
I'm wondering what TPTB think????
To put it simply, NO it was not worth it...for all the reasons stated above.
This has been the general consensus across the boards and off...That "NO" it was not worth it...Amanda on Soaps Up is going to address JHC comments in Advocate on Monday's show and everyone should watch...I just can't believe that with all the negativity, all the backlash, all the outrage & anger from fans across the board, that no one at ABC/AMC has done anything to fix this......and what they have done only makes it worse..Right now, it looks as though they will throw Zach, Kendall, Zendall further under the bus to save Reeks....and that too is ticking viewers off considering the fact that Reeks are out the door in a April....Why must Zach, Kendall, & Zendall always be decimated in an attempt to redeem the unredeemable, to prop useless, unlikable, unwatchable, and unwanted characters, such as Reek, Ryan, etc...I've said this before and I will say it again...The "NOT" so ground breaking story about a same sex couple is the worst story in AMC history, surpassing the unaborted fetus by miles and the character of Reese is the most disgusting new character in all of daytime... Second only to Ryan Lavery....but TPTB continue to push and shove them down our throats at the expense of the show, the s/l, great characters, couples...It's never worth it, but that is all they do..Oh yeah, isn't everyone happy that the death toll at AMC continues to rise...... and aren't we all excited that Ryan will be once again shoved down our throats at the expense of the story, the show, and KEndall...Reeks aren't worth it... BB isn't worth it..... Reese isn't worth it, and Ryan is definitely not worth it...
Quote:To put it simply, NO it was not worth it...for all the reasons stated above. I agree Kathy. As I said earlier in another thread, I think what bothers me most of all, is Thorsten and Alicia will be left to repair the almost irreversible damage done to Zach and Kendall. By the time this story plays out, Zach and Kendall will be completely destroyed and left to try and pick up the pieces of their relationship, while Reese, Bianca will live in their little Parisian bubble, without any concern and not even any apology for their part in hurting and betraying Zach or Kendall and the actresses who play them come and go as they please, get national media coverage that helps further their careers out side of soaps and the loyal ones who remain behind get, what? A recycled story with Ryan in the middle. It's amazing that after all these years, giving Zach and Kendall a solid marriage with some sort of payoff is never a priority for All My Children. They have the bird in the hand with this exciting couple yet are always trying to break them up for two in the bush. Don't they know that a bird in the hand is always worth more than two in a bush? This whole story was a bad idea from the beginning. It's a shame that AMC is only realizing that now instead of in the writers room when the idea was first pitched.

Was it worth destroying a beloved long term character such as Zach for this storyline? Absolutely not!
Was it worth destroying Zendall, for Bianca /Reese, two of the most selfish, self serving ,immature , whiney, needy and repulsive characters? Absolutely not!
Was it worth writing a so called ground breaking storyline that was given to two short term characters, played by actresses no one wants to see on their screens one of whom is waste of airtime. Are you reading this Tamara Braun? and , one of whom who uses the show like a revolving door, Eden Riegel Hello! Hell no!
Was it worth sacrificing the rest of the show and allowing it to languish while you paid attention to two characters that the fans abhor? I think not!
With all the monetary cutbacks was it worth all the money wasted on a lavish wedding that you are going to end in a few days? Was it worth the wrath of the Gay and Lesbian community to say, 'see at least we married them!'
Was it worth trashing core charcaters, show history and the integrity of the show, integrity of characters for a nobody like Reese? Absolutley not!
The HW has done nothing but destroy the show since he took over. He has killed more characters in a few months than died on average over the thirty nine years the show has been on. The show is full of doom and gloom.
Was losing the faith of the viewers, destruction of character recognition, show history and established characters worth doing a storyline that accomodated a writers' pet Reese while using a beloved character Zach to get the fans to pay attention to the irrelevant nonentity Reese while making the character Bianca, related to a core family a second string player for a nobody.
They touted this storyline to kingdom come but sacrificed beloved core characters , Binaca, Zach, Kendall and allowed the rest of the show to suffer from lack of attention all because of a storyline that is catering to a nobody like Reese!
